I know that we all have times that we need a card in a jif but the time factor is not on our side ~ does this ring a bell to anyone or an I on that Island all by myself!
Well today I have a card in a jif for you! I am going to let the pictures tell the story but yep, I will give you the dimensions because I hope that you will like it enough to CASE it. 😛
This stamp, Stylized Birthday is a single wood mount stamp and you know how I feel about most of our single stamps….BUY THEM ( 🙂 ) as they are great. Look at this picture below that is from the catalog and I ask you….isn’t this a fantastic card. I just adore that font and I hope that you have more fonts like this in the future!
Let’s get going on this square card. Again, the pictures will be your guide…..please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions and also, please leave a comment and let me know how you like it!
I think the little POP of color jazzes it up a bit…what do you think? Here is another example on how USING UP THAT DSP that you have…..hmmmmm – I think I got your attention there!!!! 😯
Here you go with the quick dimensions….it is soooooo darn easy, you really do not need me but I know that you enjoy them!
- The Card Base is 4 1/4″ square from thick white card stock
- The DSP is from the Floral Boutique DSP collection and it is 4 1/4″
- The lace doilie was adhered with dots of “green glue”
- The Sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy and then cut out with the largest scalloped square in the layering square framelits.
- The Watermelon Wonder is a 3 1/4″ square
- The linen thread was anchored by glue dots
- The envelope was made with the envelope punch board.
There you go…another dose of inspiration! This would be a card that you could easily adapt to make it into a regular A-2 card and not have to put extra postage on it…..but I say, go for the square!
There is just something special about getting an odd size card in the mail…..who knows maybe I am on the island again – I hope that if you have not made a square card, you will try it….I know that I am simple and I guess that I am also square!!!!
Enjoy the day and I will see you in the morning!!!!
Crisp perfection, Susan!
Thanks Miss Mary….we love it when you are in the house!
Striking and perfect. Keeper for sure.
🙂
We all love having some keepers to go back to!!!! CASE away my friend!
Great card….crisp and clean! Love the “sneak” peak of the doliy. My knee replacement went well and I am back home and back to getting my daily dose of Susan! ?
Oh how great Mary Ann…I was wondering and I was going to ask Susan if she had heard from you. Get ready for lots of physical therapy!
Hi Chris…..last year I had the other knee replaced and the PT is still “fresh” in my mind….gotta do it though. Thank you for caring….puts me in a happy place ?
With now having both done….you could do a Marathon! Chris R and I will be your water girls!
YIPPEE….I am so glad that you are doing well! They sure have come a long way with that procedure! I hope you have a fun physical therapist! You will need to tell him/her that you are a sheep herder so they will get you back to rounding them up in no time!
I am so happy that it is over and hopefully you are not in much discomfort.
I love the pop of Watermelon Wonder! It’s a perfect square card! You are not the only one on that island. I think you are on the island of Manhattan!!!! By the way, I hope you all survived that line of storms yesterday! We lost electricity for a few hours. Horrors! It’s hard to stamp in the dark!
Yeah – we are on the island together….now that is fun! The storms were not that bad – I was ready for them but nothing major. Stamping in the dark….a new trend – can’t wait to see how it turned out!
Love the Watermelon Wonder with the navy–Hope to use that in my next card. The square cards are some of my favorites–I agree, they feel special. This CAS deign is definitely a keeper.
GO Linda GO…CASE away and enjoy! I just think Navy is so classic and a POP just makes it even more special! Thanks for making me smile!
Those colors just shout celebration! Happy happy card.
We all love HAPPY CARDS…and your comment makes me HAPPY!!!!
Love the bold colors and that sentiment really makes this card a WOW ! You always find color combos that really make your cards so special ! This is a CASE in many colors project ! If I did not have a jillion birthday stamps I would get this one because it is a great stamp !
.
Yay For Mary Ann`s successful knee replacement !!!!
Thanks Sonny….so far so good. ?
This is just one classic stamp and that font…….the true icing on the card! I am surprised that you do not have this in your stash….this is one that I will always keep…(just like the Vivid Vases – I love that single stamp)
Love this card and the combination of colors! I would not have ever thought about these! Any tips on how you made the bow with the 3 loops? Very nice and unique.
Well….I wish that I could say that it was this super cool technique but all I did was first take 2 strands and made a loop and adhered it with a glue dot and then tied a simple bow and stuck it to the base of the loop.
I hope that this makes sense – I actually had no idea what I was doing but it just seemed to work out!
Thank you!!
Put me on the square island too. I too love getting those fun size smiles in the mail. Great card today.
Yeah – we now have 3….you me and Ramsey – the party is getting bigger!!!!
I rarely make a square card!!!! I need to get on that island with you girls!!!! This card is very appealing… the colors are wonderful. ???
Ok Ann…..we want you to join us on the Square Island of happiness and kindness – try to make a square card – you will be hooked!
Fun and fabulous card Susan! There is just something happy about polka dots. I don’t often make square cards, but do love to do them for a special occasion card. It is fun to step out of the box (and size constraints) of a standard card.
Hi Dana and you know that Polka Dots are HAPPY DOTS on my eyes! How can you just not smile when you see them! I agree, it is fun to change up the size every so often…..you know…it is TOTALLY hip to be square!!!
I think I might be the first to CASE you as I am adhering glue dots to a hunk of sand paper now. Huh, what, why the heck is she talking about now you are asking!!!
I needed an immediate birthday card for a guy. I wanted to get it in the mail by noon and you gave me an idea. Mike, in his little (well they are actually extra large sized) coveralls has left a plethora of used sandpaper discs in the yard, in the basement, garage and who knows where else from his window project. They come in brown, blue and green depending on the grit. I snagged a brown one from the porch the other day and was going to throw it away but I put it with a couple other ones in the basement. I saw it when I went to put in a load of laundry a little bit ago. That is my idea of the doily on your card. I had a few leftover “happy birthday” stitched circles from Jeanie’s swap so I paired one of those up with a Crushed Curry circle or do I want to use Pumpkin Pie? I am using the dotted espresso and white paper from the neutrals share for the base. Yes, I making it as I type. Crushed curry it is but I am going to add three enamel dots to go under the thank you in the two colors for a pop of color. Linen thread actually looks good on here too and no too fru-fru since it looks more like a wad than a bow. Looks pretty good balanced out with the slice of used sand paper disc. My 4×4 card is going into a regular envelope but I will add the espresso dotted piece to the flap.
Now to put the leash on a very patient Ted and we will walk up to the post office. Then, I have the afternoon to get the glue dot off the plate glass Mike has on his desk that the computer sets on. Where is that Glue Gone stuff when I need it? I can dust off the stuff on his desk while I am at it and he will wonder what got into me. Actually, I doubt if he would notice but he might get something stuck to that glue dot! Easy-peasy fast and easy card that was fun to make as I typed my comment! Thanks! Susan to the rescue again! Now I have more ideas once I get that tool stamp set and the embelishments to make more manly cards with these sandpaper discs! Bonus: Who knew I could use the sand from the island you were on too!?!?!
Ok – I NEEDED THIS COMMENT as I am laughing soooooo hard! You need to write a book because when I read your comments I read it sooooo fast as I just cannot wait to get to the next funny part….then I need to re-read it because I just have to take it all in!
I think we all need to meet your hubby…..he sounds like a hoot. I can just see the yard now, I bet you did not know that you were living with such a trend setter!
Hugs my friend……
Isn’t Chris R the life of the party?? I love reading her comments, as well as the others. No wonder it takes me a long time to go through the blogs I get on a daily basis. What a wonderful community. Now to the card, Susan. I love the color combo, especially using the polka dot DSP and the doily. I’ll have to CASE as well. With the sunny but cold, windy day, it’s good for getting some inky fingers! I’m so glad to hear Mary Ann is doing well and can get her Susan “fix” each day now. Have a great one, everyone.
You NAILED IT – Chris R is the best. You have no idea how happy it makes me that we have this fun on going party going on. There is so much genuine kindness towards each other that makes it super special. Thank you for pointing that out to all of us!
I am glad that you liked the card….I will think of those sand paper disks every time I go to Lowes!
You convinced me to buy this birthday stamp and I so often forget I have it. I must dust it off and get it out and play with it. I love that it has big bold greeting!
Dust it off and GET INKY! YOU do amazing work and it needs some love!
Your card is so fun today. Fun colors and papers and oh those scalloped edges. A winner for sure!
I just love the scalloped edges and also the stitched rectangles…..you just can’t go wrong with the basics!
If anyone cares, I found a black sandpaper disc under the tarp when I took Ted for a walk. Now, I am wondering if this is truly black or mold? It would look great with the Urban Underground DSP. If anyone wants some to play with I am sure there is some more that I didn’t throw away. I think it really man upped the card I made. I gotta learn to take pictures with my tablet thingy so you guys would believe me!
Chris ~ Your sandpaper idea is GENIUS! I’m CASE-ing that for sure. I think I’d rather buy a packet of sandpaper discs rather than doilies, even if they are non SU!!
Sounds like we are going to set a new trend……
KEEP IT FOR MIKES BIRTHDAY CARD! Think of it this way – you are being kind in recycling……plus making him a gift of art from YOUR HEART!
Sounds like LOVE!
Now I wish I would have kept the one that he left in his overalls and went through the washer. It was wadded up like when we make those flowers and stuff. It cracked off some of the sand stuff making it look even more fun but at that point I was more ticked off that he leaves stuff in his pockets. The black one (mold? see Jeanie’s blog for the post on that one I think) would make a great addition to a traditional black and gold Hawkeye card that he always likes for his birthday. Otherwise, he still just doesn’t get making cards.
Oh Chris, I hope you figure out how to take a picture to share. I would love to see your card and I am sure others would too!
Susan, I love this card! Simple and classic! I am over the top with your linen thread bow! How did you make that one?
