Hello…hello – It is Thursday and that means that is it time to play Tic-Tac-Toe and I think that I have a fun post for you! I hope that you POP over to the Tic-Tac -Toe Challenge site to see what the others have come up with… My hopes are that you will find some “me time” to PLAY this week!
Here is the game board for this week and I chose to do the Rectangle-Circle & Square….and you might be thinking…WHAT THE HECK – I do not see this….hang tight – I’ll explain!
Read about the project today and then at the end I will share not only the WINNER from yesterdays post (and I will also make some comments about question asked) but I will share the blog candy for today – this sweet stamp set……A Little Wild! I told you – this week is all about YOU…my thanks for your support to my Stampin fun!
I just think that Stampin’ Up! was brilliant to design a fun stamp set that has a “front and a back” and guess what – you might be seeing more in the future. (hint-hint)
Just look at this trio of fun! When you use the framelits you will have a mirrored image to it is PERFECT for an interactive card….but today, I chose to make it a sweet and handy Post it to make someones desk smile!
I have a secret….hmmmmm – what is it? I used a Whisper White Note Card to make it!
Are you saying W H A T ?
I had my note cards in arms reach and I guess you could say that I was being lazy and I made it work! I took the notecard and cut it at 3 1/2″ to make a square – (check the square off). Using the sweet soft sky paper from the Coffee Break DSP I adhered a 3 1/2″ square to the front panel of the card.
Using the trimmer I scored at 1″ and at 2″ and gave the scored lines a good crease with the bone folder. I think that this is super important when you are making project that need to “stand up and behave” and plus…it looks soooooo much more professional!
Hmmmmm….time to (check off the rectangle) – I know that it stretching it a bit but heck – this is a game and we are to be having FUN.…I am showing you this because I want you to see that YOU CAN PLAY ALONG and have fun.
It is all about getting inky…playing with paper and scissors and having FUN!
Now to the main man….sweet Mr. Elephant! I simple stamped him on a scrap of whisper white – ran him through Mr. Big (LOVE the framelits in the set) and I did something I have not used in a long time….I pulled out the Watercolor Pencils!
You know why I did this….EASY – it was the inspiration from our “Chris R from Iowa”….do you remember on her post that she used the Watercolor Pencils to color her adorable Eskimo?
I admit, I have not given them the love they so deserve so I gave them a spin and I loved the outcome! Very fast and I thought that the overall coverage was great and when I wanted a wee bit of shading….just go back over!
I adhered the front and back of the elephant together and snipped off the little circle thing…POPPED out a 1 3/4″ circle (check the circle off) snipped the bottom off so it would lay flat…adhered just the lower edge of the circle and PRESTO….I have a super cute little holder for a mini post it note!
You can clearly see how fast and easy this is to whip up and the fun factor…yep – it’s high as how can anyone not smile with this little cutie! These mini size post its are like candy to me – I reach for them all the time so why not make them look cute!
I made 2 of these for my ladies at the Post Office as I truly am WILD about them…..and I think I am going to tuck a roll of lifesavers in the hole as they are always so helpful! You see – it is fun to think out of the box and have fun when we are crafting!

I loved reading your responses and yep, I am a big fan of conditioning. There was a couple of comments about when I said that it was not necessary to wipe off the versamark….I don’t know what to say but I have never had any issues of my ink pads not working …but if you feel better, wipe them clean.
I figured that most of the versamark is already off because you have stamped it on a piece of scrap and the little residue that is on….will make the ink stick better! (hope this helps)
Yep, it seems like the photopolymer need some extra love in conditioning but once they are conditioned….WOW….smooth sailing!
Lastly, the reason that I use a dark or bold ink to condition is….I like to see the stamp (especially if it is a photopolymer) I use to be totally type A and like to see them clean….but I found that I tended to loose the little ones…..Staining does not effect the quality of the stamp!

So cute and adorable! The PO ladies will love them. I have this set and have already made several tags and Hershey kiss holders (thanks to Pinterest). I was introduced to SU about eight years ago (I had used other products prior) and I made a very simple beach card. My friend still has it and displays it on her desk during the summer season. Take me out of the running since I have this set already. Get inky and have a fun day!
Your Ellie creation is so Adorable, Susan! I love that you will be adding lifesavers in the holes for those helpful P.O. ladies. They will appreciate this gift from your heart. When I lived in Temecula, CA from 1999-2001, I was in a golf course community that had a clubhouse. There was an add about some art fun at the clubhouse, and since I home schooled my 2 sons, I thought it would be good for them to go. It happened to be SU fun making cards. I’d never heard of SU before, but I liked what we created that day. It was during Saleabration time, so when my order came to just over $100.00, I got to pick out 2 free stamp sets, and that made me very happy! I still have my first set-Button Bear. We moved back to VA in ’01 and I found someone who offered monthly classes in ’08. That’s when I really got into card making. Sadly, I went through 2 SUD’s and both stopped selling the product. Thank you, Susan, for teaching us so much in blog land! I appreciate all the tips and tricks and animal stories too~
I just love your blog. I use many of your tips and pass them on to my friends. My first introduction to SU was a stamp show at a friends house over 20 years ago. You can imagine what my craft room looks like now. I really don’t remember my first card but it was very crude. Hopefully, we have evolved since then.
I was invited to a party and I admit was dreading it. I reluctantly went and then continued to go to stamp camps by my upline and then there was a Big Shot promo if you joined you got it FREE! The rest is history and I am a hobby demo still 5 years later LOL! I don’t really recall the first card I made but I suppose I did have fun hehe!
This stamp set and your project are adorable! I do not have this stamp set yet. I saw a stamp set of leaves (Fantastic Foliage) that I just HAD to have at a Stampin Up demonstrators table at a Christmas craft sale in maybe 1997 (I do not remember what year it was). My first card may have been with leaves – it is too long ago to recall.
Approximately 18-20 years ago, being a CM consultant at the time, I wanted to support others’ home businesses, too. I had a SU party and fondly remember the demonstrator. I do not remember the first card I made, but I have many of my first stamp sets — Roberta, I still have Button Bear, too! I just love the stamp set you used today, Susan. My second grandchild is due in December. This is a great set for cards for little ones. You are hosting a fun week!
I was first introduced to Stampin’ Up through my cousin. I was always excited to receive cards from her. I always knew whatever type of card it was it was sure to be amazing and adorable. I loved how Stampin’ Up products coordinate with each other. I then became hooked. My first card that I made was for Christmas.
I was introduced by a friend here is WV. She is a demonstrator and I would go to her “camps.” I was not interested in being a demonstrator…just love the look of the cards. It did not take me long to get “hooked.”
A friend introduced me to Stampin Up over 20 years ago. My first card was on white card stock with a black ink image. No layering of cardstock… no embellishments…just plain and very simple.
Hi Susan! Thanks for all your helpful tips and just love this little project! I was introduced to Stampin’ Up! by my good friend Mimi. We had to travel a half an hour to the class we went to but it was worth it! The first project we made was a little Frankenstein Halloween box with a handle on it. Sooo cute!
I owe it all to my friend, Karla, who took me to a stamp camp at her upline’s home. I don’t remember the date, but I still have the first items I bought–the Build a Blossom stamp & punch set–so it was whatever year they were introduced. I still use them. In fact, earlier this week I gave K a birthday card made with that set. I call it a “corsage card” because the flower made with the largest petal takes up half of the card front.
The little animals in this set are the sweetest! Perfect for children AND adults. We all need a little sweetness in our lives.
I was already a stamper — though not a very good one when I was introduced to SU. I was invited to a stamping get together at a friend’s house and it turned out to be a SU demonstrator who was the one to teach us so much about stamping that I had never been told. We made a very simple but pretty card and I think one of the main things that impressed me was that she stamped a small stamp from the set on the envelope. That sealed the deal for me. I wanted to learn more and it was pretty obvious that I would do best with a “person” not just picking up individual random stamps at a big box store. YIPEE! I was on my way!!
I was at our local county fair and a gal (thank you Lynda) was demonstrating there and I got to see all the products. I went to one of her card classes and I was hooked. I don’t remember the first card I made. I love this set and am going to be a new grandma soon so this would make great cards for my new grandson. Thanks for the chance to win!
I would love to win this stamp set! I don’t have it yet, and this elephant is absolutely adorable. Remember the Zoo Babies elephant? – also my favorite. This one with the backside is crazy cute! I was first introduced to Stampin’ Up! back in 2007 by my work colleague who invited me to her house for a workshop. We made a simple two- layered card with a flower stamp and a bit of ribbon. I loved it and ordered my first box of Stampin’ Spots, a pack of cardstock, and a wood-mount (the only choice then) stamp set called Just Like You. I still have that set. But Stampin’ Up! – you’ve come a long way, baby!
Totally cute project, Susan. I love the backside of the animals. Years ago I saw a small SU catalog at the hairdresser’s and thumbed through it and thought how cute their stamps were and how much I like having the paper and ink to match. My sister-in-law was a consultant for a couple other companies before she found SU and while I occasionally bought an item or two from her, I was never too impressed with anything. Then she found Stampin’ Up! and everything changed. I joined under her almost immediately and three years later, I’m still loving every minute.
My first card was a thank you with bitty banners and Lovely as a Tree…I had a Cuttlebug (no Big Shot till about a year later)and was so excited to use a framelit. I had only used embossing folders up til then. I look around my craft space and can’t believe what I’ve accumulated…And how my style has changed over the last three years!

My first SU experience was about 15 years ago and we made 2 cards and a gift bag using a daisy print stamp set and a stamp wheel (forget what those were actually called). The demonstrator, Jenni, and I have remained friends all these years, even though we live in different states. There is so much to love about SU and the people who come into your life through this company!!
My mom joined a Stampin Up Monthly Hostess Club when I was in college (early 90’s) and I loved to play with her stamps, paper, and especially markers when I was home on breaks. So while I was still in college, I jumped at the chance to attend a local SU party and bought a shelf builder set. I don’t recall the name, but it had all the little stuff to stamp on shelves, similar in nature to the one in the catalog now. My first cards with my own SU stamps had shelves with the little pile of books, a ragdoll, candles, and ivy. They were fun, but oh so hard to line up, so I really love the photopolymer stamps these days! Love your elephant today, and so cute how you included the back of her also! That’s a perfect little finish!

Love your little water colored elephant – see I told you Easy Peasy, Quick and Easy! What great shading on the back or maybe it is the lights but he is a cutie! Love the idea of sticking some treat in the folded part as well as the little sticky pad.

I can tell you my first stamp was a pig sticking it’s head through a Christmas wreath which I used markers and cut up a manilla folder to make tags. This stamp I bought at a store when we lived in Houston. I knew there were card making parties but nobody seemed to invite me. Then, we moved back to Iowa 2001 and again parties but no invites. I met a new friend who sold stamps and general art supplies at her little store and she took me to a stamp club where I was introduced to embossing! People were using each others stamps, inks, etc. Totally new to me – I did needlework and you didn’t share materials but hoarded them. Still no invites but I saw a catalog at least.
One day a card appeared on my door from a woman across the street saying she was having a SU party to please come. Refreshments provided. I didn’t know her at all and you didn’t have to RSVP. None of the other neighbors were game. So, I ventured over and oh my! There were 20 people including men. They were Mennonites I believe so I was really nervous with my jeans and T-shirt on and I tried to leave and my neighbor, I didn’t even know her name, said please stay and eat. There was a roast beef, ham, chicken, casseroles, veggies, salads, cakes, pies, cookies – you name it! An hour later we waddled back to the table that was cleaned off and the men went off to the front room. One of the ladies was a SU demo who lived an hour away and was young like in her 20s. One woman who was stamping was blind! We made a card with butterflies and vellum and a couple other things including using the wheel stamp. I ordered a stamp wheel with tea cups and a couple other things. I was so amazed she gave me a catalog to keep! A few weeks later a needlework friend asked if I wanted to go make cards with her at a friend’s house. The woman was a SU demo but didn’t promote the stuff. The catalog was $5 if you wanted one. You paid for the class $5 or $10. We made 3 cards and a sour cream container with candy in it. The next month she had a special if you bought $25 worth of stuff you got a free stamp pad. Well, I was hooked as we made some fun projects. Nobody else was ordering from her. She had us make some amazing Halloween and Christmas cards. I took classes from her for like 9 months and then we moved here. I connected up with a SU person in Knoxville and joined their group for a few years. Then, well, that is history. The woman in Burlington has a blog and we are still in contact once in awhile. I even get an E-mail occasionally from the demo at the Mennonite party asking if I am still stamping. Sorry, you asked huh?
Great little gift item for someone & great idea to add something a little sweet. Those little animals are so darn cute & really cute little backsides!! I went to a class at an RVing Resort in AZ in 2001……just fell in love with the craft right away. I can’t remember the first card we made but it is fun to look back & see how my stamping & design has improved over the years. Thanks for ideas & card demos…….plus I love the 4-legged stories!!
I joined a local volunteer group a few years ago and after sharing a little about my hobbies (paper crafting, card making, etc), someone said I should get together with Jean who led card making classes. Jean was a SU demonstrator and this was my first exposure to these wonderful products. I cannot remember the first card I made, but I do remember being blown away by the stamps and the colors and the possibilities. I was hooked and after 5 years I am continually amazed by Stampin Up!
You are sweet to do so much blog candy! I started stamping with SU back in 1999! I kept getting invited to stamping parties. I was not the least bit interested but finally went just so I could say that I’d been and wasn’t going to stamp. Haha! I have invested so much now in SU products that I wouldn’t even estimate how much :). I do know the first card I made used Button Bear.
Maybe 15-20 years ago? I was so excited that SU! had SETS of stamps, not just one stamp, but sets….all together in a case!!!! What!!!! Brilliant!!! That was it, I was in love and have never looked back!!!!
Oh Susan, thanks for the fun question. It was in the nineties and the first thing I made wasn’t a card. It was at a SU party before Christmas and we decorated a paper bag by rolling a design on it. Then we made a door hanger. No card so I wasn’t sure exactly what to do with the stamps but bought a set anyway. I thought I would make my own Christmas cards and save money. Stamps, ink, cardstock, punches, dies, twine, reinkers, embossing powder (need I go on) later and I don’t feel I have saved much money but made great friendships and have a wonderful hobby.
Thanks for giving this set some love…I put this on my list when I went thru the catalog and then thought hmmm, I hope I am not on the minority on this one. I esp love the leaf looking framelit. I think my first exposure to SU was going to a stamp event with a friend and it was at a girl’s house from highschool. Sadly, I never went back to her house as I was a bit taken back of how she was doing things. That was over 10 yrs ago. 2 demos later, I met a wonderful local demo thru a friend and then also stumbled upon Susan’s blog and don’t remember how but I sure got lucky that day!
I was first introduced to Stampin Up by a friend who invited me to a class with a local demonstator. That was about 6 years ago and my love for all the products has grown. I really don’t remember the first card I made. Love that all the colors coordinate with ink, paper and accessories.

I was invited to a friend’s SU party & booked a party off of hers. Our daughters were about 10 at the time & that’s what snagged me was we could do it together 🙂
So cute Susan! I bet the mail ladies were happy! I attended my first Stampin’ Up party in 1996 (wow, 21 years ago) and never looked back. My first set was Rosevine Wreath as it had both sentiments and images. I remember struggling with my first cards until I discovered layering. It has been so fun to watch SU grow – adding more stamp sets, color matching, die cutting, etc.
I was introduced to Stamping Up a few weeks after I moved into a new community long ago…it was amazing how quickly the demonstrator put the card together. I do not recall the first card I made but I still enjoy making them. I also enjoy your blog! Thanks for all that you do.

My first experience with Stampin’ Up! was at a party with some of my scrapbooking friends probably 10 or 11 years ago. I don’t remember the card we made so much but the demo taught us about punching a hole in the cardstock and then running the ribbon through so that the bulk ended up in the hole and made it easier for mailing.
A fellow teacher at school started me in card making but that was years ago so I have no idea what card I made, but it probably was a Christmas one made in the summer break. PS that fellow teacher is now my upline!
Dear Susan, I have been involved in stamping about 12-14 years. I was going to a exercise class called Curves. Where you go around each of the machines for a total of 30 minutes. You get a great work out. The day there was a sign up for a stamp camp. I asked what this was about. I attended the camp and spent $20.00 and made there Christmas cards. It was so much fun to see a snowman card that I made with my own hands. I asked how I could learn more about this. THe Stampin up sales girl named Barbara said have a class at your home. I had a class the next Monday night and had a few frfiends over. I seas hooked and became one of her customers. She would hold a class at her home one Monday night a month.
Barbara eventually gave it up and a friend started selling Stampin Up. This girl did classes at her home for about six months, then she quit. Then a third friend started Stampin Up. She lasted about a year. Then she gave it up as well. By now my friends and I decided that we would do this on our own. We get together evert week and make cards. I love the idea of creating a card for somebody and making them smile. I converted my dininging room to my stamp room. I have professional maxed shelves and work stations. I love my room. Love the baby elephant. So sweet and what a fabulous idea to give to your mail ladies!! I dabbled in Stampin Up many years ago when my mom was a customer. I remember one card in particular and I saw it again a few months ago–I was flabbergasted at the horrible amateur-ness of my card!!! It was horrible!!! Luckily I’ve gotten much better.
Hi Susan, I learned about SU from three friends who took my Beginner Crochet Class together. They had a catalog with them and the rest is history. I do not remember my first card, but my first ink was Marina Mist.

I am so glad to have connected with you and I love your blog. I first was introduced to Stampin Up when a friend of mine invited me to a Stampin Up party about 7 or 8 years ago. We made a card at this party and I think I spent close to $200 that night. I had just started doing some paper crafts with my Cricut and was following My Pink Stamper.
A friend of mine introduced me to Stampin Up about 7 years ago! I thought she was so talented and she is but I learned that SU is fun and easy!! I remember the first time I Heat embossed!! I was in awe:)). Love SU!
Love the baby elephant and it sure made me smile! I learned about SU! At a crop. Most were scrapbooking but I asked about cardmaking and was introduced to Pam Staples. We made a breast cancer card with Kindness Matters and I’ve been hooked since.
Wow, Susan – today’s question is tough! I certainly can’t remember my first card but I believe that the mother of one of my son’s friends invited me to a Stampin’ Up gathering in the late 1990’s and that is how I was introduced to SU. I love your post-it note project, especially from the back. Thanks for the great idea.

My sister in law was part of a stampin up club and would bring her projects when they visited. Loved stamps and a few years later when I had a job and money I joined a club myself. I don’t remember the first card that I made but I do remember (and still have) some of those early day stamps. So different then the style of today. I have loved seeing all the changes in the company’s products and can truly say I love stampin up and crafting away. Thanks for your inspiration.
