Let’s Play Tic-Tac-Toe!

Good Morning and it is time to play Tic-Tac-Toe! Last weeks challenge was so much fun and we are back for another one! The team that I am on is “off” this week but please make sure that you pop over to the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge to see what Team X is up to.

I am just lovin’ playing this as it is super fun to look at the board and them have fun! I hope that you will join us and just a “heads up”  – the challenge goes to noon on Tuesdays…click here to see the rules!

Today I was able to play (2) ways! 😀

  • Diagonally – Yellow, Twine and Bow
  • Across the bottom – Yellow, Stitching and Rectangle

Today I have a super sweet card for you that is one that could easily be made in the masses. The star of the show is the Pretty Kitty Stamp and this is a sweetie… If you follow my blog (and I hope you do)….you know that I am a dog/horse/pig kinda gal! I admit….even though we live on a farm we have never had cats….but I have lots of friends and also a peep that has a kitty!

I caved in and purchased this set and I am glad that I did. Do you remember that in previous posts I commented about looking at stamps and weighing all of the options before you hit that button….well for this one here are my thoughts!

I encourage you to do this when you are weighing options….trust me – there are certain stamps that you know right off the bat (like the Piggy and Craft one) 🙂  but these were the answers for me about the Pretty Kitty Stamp.

  • The images are adorable
  • The sentiments are fun yet classic
  • The font is super simple….just like me!
  • The images would be easy and fun to mask
  • I get to watercolor or use markers & watercolor pencils
  • The stamp set lends itself to clean and simple cards…again, just like I enjoy making.

After stamping the image with our Archival Black Ink…all I did was pull out the Aqua Painter and some ink pads, gave them a squeeze and went to town….the coloring literally took me less than 2 minutes! You can see the colors that I used in the line up at the end of the post.

Trying to follow the game. I knew that I was going to a rectangle….that was easy enough – pull out the best trimmer in the world and cut. The yellow mat was cut a wee bit larger so I could take my white pen and “stitch away” ….and we all know that I adore my dashes and dots!

Envelope love….my swatch books to the rescue so I can see and feel the paper that I want to use to accent my project and POOF – a great print in the Birthday Memories DSP collection!

Remember, tomorrow is the LAST DAY for you to take advantage of my Product Share and when I talk about the swatch books…..that is Share #1 – I get it…I get it –  that they are pricey but please trust me on this one – they are very labor intense to make but they are something that you will use over and over. As the saying goes…you pay for what you get and these tools are daily life savers for me!

There you go and I ask you….how are YOU going to play this week? I do hope that you will take this board and have some “me time” and go for it. There are so many fun ways to work the board and I know that each and everyone of us have the supplies….how about challenging yourself to play!

I hope to see your name and masterpiece in the gallery – challenges are FUN…..challenges are a great way to find that inner mojo that we all have!

Enjoy the day and I am glad that you “peeked in” today to see what I am up to! Today is the day that Mr. Perfect (aka Milo the super dog) goes to see Dr. Hurry for his leg….he might just have 3 legs that work great but that never stops him from being the happy boy he is!

Hmmmmm….maybe that is a life lesson for all of us – things might not be the way we wished them to be….let’s try to make the most with what we have! Now go grab this day and make someone smile!

Let’s Play Tic-Tac-Toe!

Good Thursday morning to you and are you ready to play a game this week? I sure hope so and I also hope that you pop over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge Website to see what the other amazing designers came up with!

This is a FUN game that you can play each week and Thursdays are the magical day where we get to see a new Game Card! You can see that I went straight across today and at a 1st glance you might say….hmmmmm – that is a pretty boring card Susan but hold tight as I think that you are going to love this technique!

Here is the challenge for this week, I think that it is sooooo much fun to look at the different elements on the game board and then sit back and let you mind go wild with different thoughts of the products that you have and also trying to figure out a strategy to play….just have FUN!

My card today is all about a technique called “paper piecing” and it is like putting a puzzle together (you see…another good old fashion fun….a puzzle) but today I am going to be using a NEW product that Stampin’ Up! has in the new catalog that needs to be in your stash of adhesives as it is a time/frustration saver!

The Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets are just that – very multipurpose! To me they are huge time savers as you simply place a piece of card stock (about the size of the die as we do not need to waste any of this precious product) ,,,Place your die on top…run it through Mr. Big and PRESTO…you have adhesive on the back of the detailed “Happy Birthday” Diecut and your fingers are free from any adhesive!

The real star of the show for this technique is the Paper Piercing Tool aka…Mr. Pointy! This is a tool that I reach for daily and one that does not get mentioned a bunch. It “does the job” in helping pull off the release paper of the sheets and then you can stick it to the side of Mr. Pointy to keep it clean and move it to wherever you want it!

Let’s get to the pictures and it will all make sense…you know me – I love my pictures to help tell the story. Todays card is a 4 1/4″ square card that is a classic….just like the game of Tic-Tac-Toe! The Smokey Slate is a 4″ square and then the white is a wee bit smaller, 3 7/8″

I put the adhesive sheet on the white piece and then ran it through Mr. Big and you can see below the end result….this is where the FUN comes in.

I carefully removed the excess of the white as remember – you are going to PIECE that back in like a puzzle! Cut a sentiment one the same way with the adhesive sheet in So Saffron…..now have FUN!

You can see how Mr. Pointy is a handyman for you in the placement of this delicate die. You will have some “forgiveness” of the adhesive but once you get it and all of the “pieces of the puzzle” in place and give it a firm rub with the bone folder, YOU ARE SET!

The other star player in this post is the below bundle, Happy Birthday Gorgeous. Even though I did not use the stamp for todays post, this is one that you will want the bundle – WHY???? Easy…its a Birthday classic and you save an instant 10% – just look at that fun and festive font of the sentiments and the little “filler stamps”….a keeper!

Below you can see that the envelope fun was created by using the Delightful Daisy DSP but to you notice….there is no So Saffron or Smoky Slate listed in the coordinating colors. I know that this seems super basic but please do not overlook paper that you have as sometime it is like a chameleon and just works! (another reason why the DSP Swatch Books are perfect companions for creating)

Sometimes a stamper just has to do what a stamper needs to do – KEEP GOING and it will all work out!

Well, there you go! This was FUN…right?!?!?! There is something so special about this clean and simple card when you hold it in person. Yesterday it was on my kitchen counter and my son said….“That’s a nice card” – then I ask him to look at it closer and he said – WOW….how did you get that in there….

I do hope that you will try this technique and you will also be thrilled with the ease of these new adhesive sheets. You can remember that I have blogged before using the Stick It Product but now we have our very own and it works GREAT!

Now you need to get your thinking cap on and see what product/project you can make with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge this week! It is super fun to play and if you need any help uploading your project – I will be happy to do so.

Here is a great thought and one that I hope you let sink in…just try a challenge – you have nothing to lose as you will be having some good old fashion “me time” and you will find it to be fun! If you have a crafty friend….email them and say – let’s try it….and you will love to see what she made and how she interpreted the challenge.

As we grew up we played games to have FUN….it is the same for this challenge – TO HAVE FUN! Now go have a FABULOUS day!

Tic-Tac-Toe…3 in a ROW!

Do you like to play games…..??? Well...I DO but I have a confession, there are not many people that like to play games with me because – I am…simple in many ways – so face it, I am SIMPLE SUSAN! The words I make in scrabble are small…when playing charades sometimes I get too frustrated that I talk or write a clue on a piece of paper…. 😳

Yesterday I shared with you to bring your calendars today…and here is my method to my madness  – pull out the calendar and mark down June 8th – if you are a subscriber to my blog that you will have the FUN GLORY to see the 1st challenge and guess what – I HOPE THAT YOU PLAY WITH US! Please click here to visit the website and then POP back on the 8th and see what the debut challenge tic-tac-toe board is!

The Teams are amazing filled with fun, clever and unique challenges to bring to you. I invite you to take a minute and read the bios on the designers cause’ wowza – lots of talent in this game and that is why I am encouraging YOU to join us on Thursday’s! Playing a fun game of tic-tac-toe will be a great “something-something” to your crafty time. I truly feel honored and blessed to be a part of this game!

We have all played Tic-Tac-Toe for years (well actually decades and decades) so why not still play.  😀  Games are FUN….Games are ADDICTIVE….Games bring out the BEST OF US! I am here for you to be your biggest cheerleader and having a unique challenge will help your creativity.

Let’s get to the card that I made to share with you the SCOOP for the new challenge and I have a funny for you – when I was typing and showed the card to my best critic and hubby  – He immediately said – THAT IS A CUTE CARD! I just love it when that happens!

The card was made from the old and the new….but guess what – it is not BLUE! Just think of possibilities that you could have with this card….stamp a fun & quirky sentiment….or just write a note from your heart and you will win the old, the young because everyone loves Tic-Tac-Toe!

I the new catalog we have this fun bundled called Wood Words (hint-hint….we have 24 NEW BUNDLES in the new catalog) but today I am just sharing with you the stamp set….The minute I had the idea to do a TTT Card with you…I knew the 2 stamps I was going to use! I just smile when I see the little images with the rustic sketched lines and that rooster – too darn cute!

The other stamp that I used is an old faithful that has been around a while….Work of Art. It has been a while since I have used this classic and yep…it is carried over – YIPPEE! There are so many unique cards and projects that you can make with this stamp…..this is a set that your inner Picasso will really come alive!

The overall size of this card is a 4 1/2″ square. The “jig” came back out to help me with perfect placement for my TTT Board (he’s been busy this week) I was smiling with this as I thought – hmmmmm….wouldn’t this be fun to make with felt…with other small stamps for the game pieces – the sky is the limit!

I know that we are going to see many super cute cards with this stamp set. I can see the floral stamp heat set with white embossing powder and the quickly watercolored with the aqua painter or the watercolor pencils.

The matting in black helped to POP the game card and to me, it allows your eye to soften the stark black lines of the board. You can see how this tip goes back to what I shared with you yesterday….when you create – stand back and look at it – make little changes to accent not over power!

You can see why I chose this color scheme for todays fun….yep – it is that FUN NEW DSP, Pick a Pattern. It is just too cute than words and I think you will agree, at a first glance you say – it is just too whimsical – NOPE, not at all! It does have some unique patterns (like I used today) but thanks to the flip side…there are classic options! I know that this paper collection will be a huge hit.

I hope that you are smiling when you see the adorable envelope. This is another “piece of plastic” that needs to be in your home. The Envelope Punch Board not only makes super custom envelopes for any size you heart desires but it also makes other fabulous crafty projects – google it and you will be surprised!

How adorable is this paper and that mouse…..I just thought that when I am camping or away having a casual weekend…I love to play games and I thought – the colors are FUN….the paper is FUN….a great choice to pair up with this simple card!

There you go….a great and oh so fun to get you excited for the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge that will be starting on June 8th. This is a Holiday weekend and I hope that you are going to do something fun. Be safe and make lots of memories. Summer is around the corner but I hope that we all reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day.

I will see you in the morning for our 2 day weekend fun. The hourglass has officially turned for the retiring products…. you can click the below image to see what’s there and then shop away! The gift with purchase this month are the Foam Adhesive Strips…a must have in our stampin’ box!

Enjoy the day and remember, sharing kindness in any form will not only make someone happy, you will be beaming as well!  😀
