Sweet…Simple…Fun & DONE!

WOOT-WOOT to Thursday! It is time to play Tic-Tac-Toe and the board this week is super fun!

I hope that you pop over to the Challenge Site and see what the designers came up with this week and then grab another cup of coffee…study the game board and GO FOR IT!

I ended up with a very productive game board! If I had changed my sentiment…I bet that I could have covered the entire board and the best thing – it was not intentional but the more I looked at the board, the more elements of the game I had….that is what is FUN about this challenge!

I went AcrossBurlap (the bow), Banner (the sentiment) , Yellow (the watercoloring)….then Down….Flower (the stamp image), Leaf (the stamp image)….then AcrossFREE…and Splatter (Specks of Gold Paint)

I have a super sweet and fast one for you today! I think that we can all agree that there are so many times that a simple and sweet notecard like this and this just…“does the trick” There is something very unusual for me with this card….

Can you guess it? Well, let me help you! I rarely, I mean rarely ever do a side fold card. Think about it…I usually do a top fold vertical….or a top fold horizontal ….but rarely a side fold card…WHY???I have no idea!

I wanted to use a note card and today I am using the Very Vanilla Notecard and Envelopes. I am so happy that Stampin’ Up! came out with these in the Vanilla. I am a big fan of this size and it is a treat to have 2 color options! I also love the price…$6.00 for 20 thick very vanilla card bases that are already scored and matching envelopes….here comes another WOOT!

I am working on a handmade special Birthday gift for my dear sweet Aunt Jean as she will be turning 90 in about 2 weeks. If you have followed my blog than you might remember her. She is not only super sweet and special to me…she is truly a person that I look up to.

You will be seeing more cards that I will be making for her….one thing that she loves and often asks me for…is cards… and naturally I smile. I am trying to come up with fun and practical cards that I know she will love! This was …well besides the game board  – the motivation for the design of todays post!

I have said endless times before that I would have never…ever imagined that I would be doing this “blog thing” that I do…and also still be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator … remember, I was one of those that joined for the discount and then I was “out of here”…well, I guess I changed my mind!!!

What I share with you is what I use. It truly is a win-win for both you and I. I am able to cross things off of my to do list and you can learn…enjoy….have a smile and hopefully leave feeling inspired!

You can tell that I have not put the Count My Blessings Stamp Set away from Wednesday! This will be in the upcoming catalog and I know that it is going to be a one that will be in the Brown Truck to many of our homes….and I say – smart shopper!

Below you will see the images in this stamp set, very classic and easy to work with!

You an see that this is sooooo straight forward but it works! I hope that you agree. It is great to have “secret weapons” like this ready to roll. I adore this new paper and  I think that you will too!

Below you can take a peek but I think that you will agree…the picture just does not do justice to this sweet paper! (that’s why Product Shares are the best!!!!) I will be offering them to you soon….real soon!

I covered the entire front of the notecard in this fun DSP. It’s funny, you can see that the DSP has a good bit of Pool Party in it and I do not have a lick of that color in my watercoloring…but it still looks great!

The reason why I am pointing that out to to share with you that it is ok not to be so exact with your coordination….go with what feels good to you! I am tickled with the simplicity of this…very fast!

The sentiment was from the fabulous carried over Stamp Set Feather Together. There are 2 main things that I adore about this stamp set. One, because it is a Photopolymer and then other…the sentiments & fonts…WOW. I used this for a card kit that I created last year and I still look at the samples from that kit and I smile! (that’s when you know it’s a keeper)

I invite you to look at the stash that you have and then make a “blending of 2 stamps together” Let me explain, when you see the sentiments in the Count My Blessings Stamp Set, the sentiments are amazing, but the scale of them for a note card is too big for a notecard in the orientation that I chose for this card.

I went to the stash that I have and PRESTO – the Feather Together was a perfect pick. I loved the way that the sentiment had a natural flow to compliment the flower.

I bet you are wondering where did I get the gold ink for the flecks – I have a small palette of 6 paints that I enjoy adding a wee bit of bling to projects. When you hold it in your hand, you see the classic little accent that catches the light!

Enjoy your day and don’t forget to take a peek in the Clearance Area….I can see that many items have already depleted but I totally “get it” – as who does not like a deal!

Stampin’ hugs….

Tic-Tac-Toe…NAILED IT!

Do you ever had times when the moon and the stars just seemed to line up and work for you?

This is how I felt about the project I am sharing with you today! Below you will see the game board for the week and I hope that you pop over to the Tic-Tac-Toe Website to see what the other Team Designers came up with!

I have a video for you (that I made last year) that will make you an expert in making these fun poppers! I think that you will find the instructions – “SPOT ON” and you will be whipping these up in minutes! I make them all year around as they are always sooooo well received and face it – people just love them as they are so fun and festive!

If you are going to a friends house for a dinner together, make up these and take with you! Your hostess will love the unexpected fun it brings to the table….if I am going to lunch with someone…I often make one and tuck it in my purse – again, very unexpected but always remembered! This is a GREAT WAY to use up old DSP that you might have!!! (hint-hint)

Do you remember on Tuesday I shared with you how priceless Jeanie’s expression was on her face when I said I was going to Walmart? Well…I got her again!

As we were “chatting up a storm” she asked me…have you worked on your Tic Tac Toe project for Thursday? Quickly I said no….and then she said – it’s due today!

YIKES – I totally forgot that this is the week that our design team that we are both on are showcasing….then I said – what does the board look like – she said…1st row – Metallic – Anything but a card – Green…..without another word I said – DONE – Say no more….I’m making poppers with the Frenzy Foil Lemon Lime Twist….

WOOT-WOOT….I felt like doing the HAPPY DANCE…..and guess what….her glasses went up on her head….her jawed dropped ….and I smiled! 😀

Well…there you go….a fun and festive post for your Thursday!!! I admit…I re-watch this video to be sure I remember but at the same time I still have that “happy feeling in my heart” when I make them – they are just so fun and easy!

Here is a “cheat sheet” for you to go by. Please watch the video as I will walk you through all of the below steps but I think that these will help for that “at a glance reminder” of making these!

  • 6″ X 4 1/2″ piece of DSP or Solid Card Stock
  • Score at 1″, 2″, 3″, 4″ & 4 1/2″ – use the bone folder and score well!
  • Starting on the little one (the 1/2″) punch at 1″ and FLIP and punch at 1″ again…..(do this for all of the scored lines, folding down the paper on each fold) The Video will help you and once you make one…..it’s like riding a bike – YOU’LL GET IT…and CAUTION: These are ADDICTIVE to make! The key part is the PUNCH and the FLIP!
  • Use a strip of Tear & Tape on the center part and simple glue dots on the little end pieces.
  • Tie off one end…fill and SMILE!

Have fun and please find a bit of time today to give them a try! You will be sooooo happy! See you in the morning! 😀

p.s. – Here is another GREAT TIP that will surely be a win-win for you and the recipients! These would be a fantastic idea to take to a Nursing Home and even a School…..do not fill them with any candies but fill them with an inspirational message…a quick note of “sunshine” and for the kids….maybe do a sort of scavenger hunt – you can see that my mind is always thinking!!! 😛

It’s time to play Tic-Tac-Toe!

Thursday’s are all about playing Tic-Tac-Toe….but also TODAY….THIS THURSDAY is a super special day for me because I am going to meet a blog follower, Georgette Huff. I am over the top excited as she contacted me months ago saying that she would be in the area visiting a friend and hopefully we could meet!

Can you say….MUSIC TO MY EARS!!! I feel so blessed to do this simple thing of “paper, stamps & ink” and to have the opportunity to “cyber meet” but then to “real life” meet…..EEK – I am pinching myself! 😀

OK…..here is the challenge board for this week and I went down the right side….(well, kinda) The plants thing kinda got me so when in doubt….ask friends!

That’s what I did and I loved the response that I received from fellow PAL and TTT Challenge Designer, Shannon Jaramillo…she said “Open to interpretation”…to me, that’s like saying…HAVE FUN!!!! 😛

I used the Whisper White Notecards to make this sweet card. When I think of Georgette I think of DSP as she is the Queen of using “prints” of DSP to make her card fronts pop! Truth be told, she is much more creative that I am showing you today as all I did was a quick cut to 3 1/2″ X 5″ of the DSP from the Birthday Memories DSP Collection.

When you look at the line up of products that I used at the end of the post…you will see that I am using several framelits from a variety of Bundles. YEP, I like to do that and if you get in the habit of cutting the shapes out of your bundles and having them on a paper for reference, it makes it super easy to flip through and find the perfect shape/accent for you to add to a project!

I know that many times we all can remember the shapes etc…but if not, this works great. I will wager to say that the framelits of May Flowers gets overlooked by many….this is one framelit that I love to use as a “go to” filler….(On this card, it is the Daffodil Delight little circle flower thingies! 🙂

The “hugs” was from the Lovely Inside & Out Bundle and I just snipped the edge of the circle that was attached when it was cut out. This is a very unique framelit offering and again, Stampin’ Up! did a fantastic job with being so unique with the design. You know I adore “words” to use on cards….and this set makes me smile!

I should have used the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to do the “stacking” of the “hugs” but silly Susan, I forgot…..so great glue did the trick for me today! Have you tried these Adhesive Sheets yet? They do a super job with die cut adhering and no sticky fingers!

So….seeing the card upclose you can see the “row” of “all things round (the circles)…stacked words (the hugs)…plants (my lovely “greenery”) to play this weeks challenge. Please make sure that you go to the Tic Tac Toe Site and see the BEAUTIES that the designers created this week.

I say….their creative juices were on overload as they are insane! It is just so much fun to see other peoples work and also when you play a challenge, to see the interpretation that others do.

I can remember one of the reasons that I was afraid to try a challenge was when I looked at the challenge I took it too literally and said….“I do not have that”….so in my head would think  –  I can’t do this one….DOES THIS RING A BELL WITH ANYONE????

There you go…and NOW IT IS YOUR TURN….how about going to the “room or space of fun” and have some well deserved “me time” and play with us this week?

Not only would I love to see your work in the gallery….but I am sure that …..NO, I KNOW – that you will feel great about yourself….because YOU DID IT! Please feel free to email me if you need help!

Have a GREAT day….I know that I am going to….grabbing a “hug” from Georgette and her friend Chris…..it doesn’t get any better than this! See you in the morning!

Tic-Tac-Toe with some blog candy, again!

Hello…hello – It is Thursday and that means that is it time to play Tic-Tac-Toe and I think that I have a fun post for you! I hope that you POP over to the Tic-Tac -Toe Challenge site to see what the others have come up with… My hopes are that you will find some “me time” to PLAY this week!

Here is the game board for this week and I chose to do the Rectangle-Circle & Square….and you might be thinking…WHAT THE HECK – I do not see this….hang tight – I’ll explain!

Read about the project today and then at the end I will share not only the WINNER from yesterdays post (and I will also make some comments about question asked) but I will share the blog candy for today – this sweet stamp set……A Little Wild! I told you – this week is all about YOU…my thanks for your support to my Stampin fun!

I just think that Stampin’ Up! was brilliant to design a fun stamp set that has a “front and a back” and guess what – you might be seeing more in the future. (hint-hint)

Just look at this trio of fun! When you use the framelits you will have a mirrored image to it is PERFECT for an interactive card….but today, I chose to make it a sweet and handy Post it to make someones desk smile!

I have a secret….hmmmmm – what is it? I used a Whisper White Note Card to make it!

Are you saying W H A T ?

I had my note cards in arms reach and I guess you could say that I was being lazy and I made it work! I took the notecard and cut it at 3 1/2″ to make a square – (check the square off). Using the sweet soft sky paper from the Coffee Break DSP I adhered a 3 1/2″ square to the front panel of the card.

Using the trimmer I scored at 1″ and at 2″  and gave the scored lines a good crease with the bone folder. I think that this is super important when you are making project that need to “stand up and behave” and plus…it looks soooooo much more professional!

Hmmmmm….time to (check off the rectangle) – I know that it stretching it a bit but heck – this is a game and we are to be having FUN.…I am showing you this because I want you to see that YOU CAN PLAY ALONG and have fun.

It is all about getting inky…playing with paper and scissors and having FUN!

Now to the main man….sweet Mr. Elephant! I simple stamped him on a scrap of whisper white – ran him through Mr. Big (LOVE the framelits in the set) and I did something I have not used in a long time….I pulled out the Watercolor Pencils!

You know why I did this….EASY – it was the inspiration from our “Chris R from Iowa”….do you remember on her post that she used the Watercolor Pencils to color her adorable Eskimo?

I admit, I have not given them the love they so deserve so I gave them a spin and I loved the outcome! Very fast and I thought that the overall coverage was great and when I wanted a wee bit of shading….just go back over!

I adhered the front and back of the elephant together and snipped off the little circle thing…POPPED out a 1 3/4″ circle (check the circle off) snipped the bottom off so it would lay flat…adhered just the lower edge of the circle and PRESTO….I have a super cute little holder for a mini post it note!

You can clearly see how fast and easy this is to whip up and the fun factor…yep – it’s high as how can anyone not smile with this little cutie! These mini size post its are like candy to me  – I reach for them all the time so why not make them look cute!

I made 2 of these for my ladies at the Post Office as I truly am WILD about them…..and I think I am going to tuck a roll of lifesavers in the hole as they are always so helpful! You see – it is fun to think out of the box and have fun when we are crafting!

The countdown is on for the final Bonus Days Dollars – remember this ends on July 31st….but now save later….with every $50.00 you will receive a $5.00 coupon to use in August…

I LOVE this promotion and have taken advantage of it personally but if I were you……I would add that extra $25.00 to be able to pick a free stamp from my vault…..(just saying as there are 100’s of stamp sets needing a new home) WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT?

I have finally “corralled” my retired product….and it is a CANDYLAND for YOU! When you enter the vault….you will be in heaven (I have several in there right now….so hurry and make your selection before it gets swooped up)

I have updated the Hostess Code and if your order is $75.00 or more with me….you can GO TO THE VAULT and pick out any stamp your heart desires. I did this last year and it was a huge hit….but now….it is STOCKED TO THE MAX….as it is up to date from the Catalog that ended on May 31st.

Have a great day….and I hope that you will have some time have fun with this challenge! Please do not forget to pop over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge Site and see what the other design team members came up with!

Now to the WINNER from yesterday…..ok get ready – same drill….if your name is GENIE….than you need to GET UP….PUT THOSE ARMS UP AND SQUEAL…..you won the Paint Play Stamp Set…..so do it…shake it….spin around and then email me! You are going to have endless FUN with this stamp set!

I loved reading your responses and yep, I am a big fan of conditioning. There was a couple of comments about when I said that it was not necessary to wipe off the versamark….I don’t know what to say but I have never had any issues of my ink pads not working …but if you feel better, wipe them clean.

I figured that most of the versamark is already off because you have stamped it on a piece of scrap and the little residue that is on….will make the ink stick better! (hope this helps)

Yep, it seems like the photopolymer need some extra love in conditioning but once they are conditioned….WOW….smooth sailing!

Lastly, the reason that I use a dark or bold ink to condition is….I like to see the stamp (especially if it is a photopolymer) I use to be totally type A and like to see them clean….but I found that I tended to loose the little ones…..Staining does not effect the quality of the stamp!

Now for todays question?…..How were you introduced to Stampin’ Up! and can you remember the 1st card you made?

One lucky winner will win this stamp Set….

A Little Wild….just leave a comment and GOOD LUCK!

Please leave me a comment and also let me know how you like Mr. Elephant…..and pop back tomorrow to see who won the stamp set! We’ve got some Lemons in the house! Have a fabulous day!

Tic-Tac-Toe….sweet & simple!

You know what today is….whenever you hear the day of the week of “THURSDAY” than you know that it is time to play an old fashion fun game of Tic-Tac-Toe…but this time it is a FUN way….with the thing that we all love to do – play with paper! You see…there are still fun games when you are an adult!

Here is the challenge board this week and I hope that you popover to the Tic-Tac-Toe site to see what the other wonderful designers came up with!

I have to apologize in advance…I do not have many pictures for you today….I took all of the pictures of my projects before I left Randall Lane and for some reason I did not take many of this sweet card but I will do my best to shine that sunshine on you this morning to see the fun!

This card is from the below Bundle….and remember when you see the word bundle….than you know that you will receive an instant 10% off and if you would be a hobby demo…you would receive an additional 20% off…I say – why not?

You can clearly see in the below image all of the super die cuts that are with this sweet stamp set! Stampin’ Up! really did a bang up job this season with designing such intricate dies to make the interest even more special….

Can you see that the basic shape is cut out but look closer…you can even cut out the small flower to add some height and interest to “spot light” the flower even more….I say – WOOT-WOOT!

Now here is even a BIGGER timesaver….I stamped the whole thing in Pear Pizzazz and then “pieced” the So Saffron flowers over top so I did not have to worry about stamping and wiping off ink! Here comes another WOOT-WOOT!!!

Now you know I am simple….actually super simple as that is the way I roll and that is what comes naturally to me when I create! The base of this card is the Whisper White Note Cards….these not only are the best because they are already cut and scored but they are a great value!!!

I have to be honest with you….I just do not “get it” why there are so many that do not grab them up and give them the love that they soooooo deserve! Remember…they now come in Very Vanilla and the best part…..the card stock weight is the “thick card stock”

For me, this size is the perfect size to write that “quickie” that we all need to do from time to time and they also make a great “gift” to give….I know that my dear Aunt Jean always appreciates when I give her cards made up with this product.

One thing that I know that I am “guilty as charged” is the fact that I do not use embossing folders as much as I probably could. They  are a great bang for your buck and I am trying to be better!

This is a newbie called Garden Trellis and it gives such a rich and deep emboss…so quick and easy with the help of our main man, Mr. Big!

The simple scoring gives this rather “plain jane” a bit of pizazz…I think I should call her “sweet jane” ….what do you think? Please do not forget about scoring for a quickie…..face it – making a sweet card does not mean that it needs to take hours and hours….

That’s it for today! If I have figured it out correctly…than we will be starting the LONG trek home….

  • we fly from Chiang Mia to Beijing (6 hours)
  • a 7 1/2 hour layover…..
  • then from Beijing to Dulles (15 hours)…..
  • get the car and COME HOME TO MY CRITTERS!!!!!

I know that we will be super tired but we will have lots of tails wagging….I hope to see you tomorrow and there is a quirky little guy in the house!!!

Oink-Oink…Let’s play Tic-Tac-Toe!

Hello and Happy Thursday…you know what today is – it is time to play TIC-TAC-TOE….and you can see that I did 3 in a row! (ha-ha…just like I am suppose to!!!!)

Today I chose the path of far right….DOWN =

There is something just FUN about a game and then there is something just FUN about these dear piggies! My sweet piggy, Daisy Mae is a black piggy and they are not as fun to color in black so in my world….a pink piggy does the trick! (and look….how appropriate – she is holding a Daisy!!!)

I simply pulled out that Aqua Painter and did a super quick color using both the powder pink ink and then used the blushing bride to add a wee bit of accent to her ears and cheeks! You can see the other colors that I used to color in the line up at the end of the post!

Remember my best TIP & TRICK to using the Aqua Painters….JUST DO IT – practice is your best friend!

Just look at this super sweet gal kickin’ up her heels as she picks her flowers….not a care in the world – life is great! There is something just magical about this stamp set, This Little Piggy as the minute you see it…..it happens – YOU SMILE!

The other super popular DSP in the catalog is, Wood Textures DSP 6 X 6 Stack – it is chocked full of practical and oh so life like wood grain images…a definite “have to have” in your stamp stash!

Today I took the liberty of “wrapping” the ribbon around the “wood DSP” so check off my list of the game board (actually a double check off) 😀

It would be a “Susan card” without a fun envelope…and today is no different! Pulling all of the colors that I used in the card….I made my custom envelope with the envelope punch board and went to town!

Isn’t the pick paper great to accent this sweet swine…..every piggy needs a classic paper – the Fresh Florals DSP Stack….after all – she IS a beauty….just like my sweet swine!

There you go…now it is YOUR TURN TO PLAY and I truly hope that you will! POP over to the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge and see what the other designers had up their sleeves this week and then go ahead and find that “me time” that you sooooooooo deserve and play along!

I am just kickin’ up my heels as well with so many playing….I say a big WOOT-WOOT and it is fun and rewarding….you ALL are winners in my eyes!

I will see you tomorrow and it will be ready to say HIP…HIP….HORRAY! I have a fun one for you! Shopping from home is the best….remember with every $50.00 you will receive a $5.00 coupon to use in August….the gift that keeps on giving!
