Ok – I am sure when you see this card you are going to say…"What the heck is up with that title of today's post"??? Well…if you are anything like me, when I was young I loved to get a fresh coloring book and a new box of crayons and color away!
That is exactly what I did for todays card….it looks like it would have been hard and time consuming but I must say….it was SUPER-DE-DUPER fun and relaxing to color! Do you remember that on yesterdays card I used the Blender pens…well they are my new favorite best friend.
WHY IN THE WORLD HAVE I NOT PLAYED WITH THEM?…SILLY SUSAN!
Today is the Pals Paper Art Challenge and this week it is a color challenge (my favorite) and here is the palette for today…..please play along – I would love to see your work in the gallery.
You know that I adore the Aqua Painters and I still do and always will but I must say, I did not play with the blender pens much at all and after yesterday I thought….lets try it again! Many of you are timid with the Aqua Painters and if that is you….than I would say – purchase the Blender Pens to build your confidence up!
I will go in and respond to your comments yesterday while I enjoy my coffee….I am liking having my "me time" with you….my cyber friends! I adore hearing from you!
There is nothing to it at all…if you can color with a crayon, than you can color with a blender pen. I squeezed the top of the ink pad to get some ink on the inside cover then simply took the blender pen to pick up a bit of ink and colored away!
I am the first to say that I do not understand the whole "shading….looking to how the light goes…..etc" – I just color away! There is nothing to it other than deciding on the colors that you want to use! This was a cinch today as I follow the palette and the extra is crushed curry!
This stamp set is a beauty! The font on the sentiments is very beautiful and the floral images are clean, fresh and oh so easy to color! Today, I used the Black Staz On Ink and you can see in the below picture of the stamp set that I used both floral stamps and just "fit them together"…with the help of my stamp-a-ma-jig!
I hope that you can see that I am still being "true to my clean and simple style" with this card. It looks fussy because of the coloring but the coloring was the FUN part!
The funny thing was that I was just playing around with a scrap of paper and thought…what the heck – try to connect both floral images and it worked so I ended up with an odd size. How did I adapt it? Simple just added 1/4" all the way around and even though it is a bit shorter, it fits and looks great in a regular envelope!
The outer liner is from the Brights DSP Stack and the words are just PERFECT with the sentiment on the front of the card. These stacks are sooooo darn tootin HOT and I am so glad that I am offering them again on my product share.
Speaking of product shares….you can click here for Holiday Catalog 2015 Product Share. I will be sending a confirmation emails of the pre-orders I have received over this coming weekend, remember – it is Stampin' Ups! policy that I cannot bill you or send you the products until the catalog is live, which is September 1st. (I am getting ready as I have been able to pre-order and my swatches are ready to rumble when I can etc…)
Please feel free to email me if you need help with the card today and/or if you have questions about the product share! I do take great pride in my shares to offer you a great "taste without the calories"
Here is another peek of today's card….I love it – I know it is a bit different than I normal do but I think it is pretty! What do you think? Do you like it….do you use blender pens…..let's here!
Have a fabulous day and I am SUPER excited to say – my 2 day weekend fun will be back this weekend…Simple Saturday and Step it up Sunday! I know you all enjoy it and I do to!
I know that you will love this picture….too sweet – there is only one Eddie….he has not been eating much lately but his energy has been good – loving his ball and swimming! Everyday is a gift.
Until tomorrow!
p.s. – oops I forgot to mention this one…..you have heard me say COUNTLESS times that the itty bitty accent punches are a must have…well they are – but did you see that I used an epoxy sticker over top of a razzelberry heart and look at how instant FUN it brought!
I just adore this card, Susan and I must try this technique. I still love to color and covet my 96-count box of Crayolas – I even have an adult coloring book of Mandala art and it is SUPER therapy! Thanks for the precious pic of sweet Eddie – what a dear boy!
Thank you for being so encouraging about coloring. I also do not get the whole light/dark, where the light falls thing, but will just color from now on! Beautiful card!
Adorable ! That goes for Eddie and your card !! I like your twist on the flowers.Blender Pens are fun I should pull mine out more .
Love that font …BTW….we missed our morning visits and glad you are back ! You make our hearts smile !
Gorgeous card Susan, I love how you made the swag using both of this beautiful stamps. The little heart sticker is an adorable detail.
Thank you for sharing both this beautiful card and the picture of sweet Eddie, all warm and cozy, taking a brake from swimming.
Your card is beautiful! So clever how you connected the two different flower stamps and I love the touch of yellow. I love using blender pens as well as coloring in a coloring book (I agree with Deb, great therapy)….I also doodle whenever I have a pencil in my hand ( they say it helps you concentrate). I have dabbled in oil and watercolor painting, too, and have some idea about the light/dark thing but I just go with the flow! Eddie looks so precious and content! Hugs to Eddie!
Eddie is just too adorable…I love when he is covered up in something snuggly warm! I Adore using blender pens, Susan! It does take me a bit longer, but I am always pleased with the results. When using them on water color paper, it’s easy to come back and layer the ink to get your definition and shading. I tend to look at other cards to get ideas on how to shade since it doesn’t come naturally to me. When the blendabilities came out I wondered if I should get them. I waited to see more of how they worked, but I’d gotten so good with the blender pen that I just decided to stick with that. Now I’m so glad that I did. Your card still has the cas look to it, but I’m happy to see that you’ve tried something “new” to you, and it looks great! Love the added flower at the bottom~ Make it a Great day today and do something fun!
Lovely, lovely card today, Susan. I’ve not yet tried the Blender Pens as I’m so into my Aqua Pens, but am curious.
Received my Holiday Catalog yesterday and have already started my wish list!
Give Eddie an extra hug! He is so precious.
The card is beautiful! I love both Aqua and blender pens techniques. I have a question and I hope you will not think I’m stupid–how do you get the DSP on the flap of the envelope? I look forward to your reply!!! Keep up your wonderful stories, you make my morning Susan:)
beautiful coloring, spot on placement. card is so pleasing and inviting to the eye. great job Susan. love your work.
Sweet, sweet. I love the swag, especially the bottom piece. Great use of the color combo.
It’s oh so pretty but still clean and simple with the layout! And it looks like you still used reg whisper white instead of special watercolor paper?? Always adore the cute photos 🙂
Oh so pretty of a card! Love your coloring. I have been eyeing this stamp set and it is on my “wish list” for eventually maybe. I have not used my blender pens hardly at all. I always think I will try using them again but never do. I wonder how the fun swag of flowers would look in fall colors? I thought the heart looked a little shiny and thought maybe Chrystal Effects or whatever it is called as I forgot about those epoxy stickers. Boy, that added to the fun!
Sweet Eddie is so cute in his little snuggly hut! Maybe his tummy is just a little off from the pool water – chlorine maybe? Ted managed to eat a cheese stick whole (not the wrapper) and a twist tie from the bread and something black which he threw it all up while I was out stamping the other night. Mike was not happy camper with me when I got home. He couldn’t figure out what the shite stick shape was but I knew right away as I had given it to him when I left to get him in the crate. I am not beyond bribery! Speaking of Ted, he wants to go out so I had better take him for a little walk -ours was interrupted by the a/c repairman earlier today.
Sorry, Susan, but you & your cards have very stiff competition whenever you post an Eddie picture! 🙂 Eddie is such a sweetie and both Caleb and I let out a squeal when we saw his picture. I can imagine him running wet from the pool and waiting by the door for his “jacket” to snuggle into.
We were at Barnes & Noble yesterday and Caleb wandered over to the calendar section. He started laughing and then saying, “Mom, Mom! We should get this for your Stampin’ Buddy!” When I looked over, it was a calendar full of dressed up piglets. I thought it was cute that he thought of you. (And by the way, he thought it was “cool” that he reminds you of Will)
Your card today is an absolute Beauty! I agree that the punches are a “must” and I love how you can combine them easily with the epoxy stickers for a unique look. I like the way you combined the two floral images, and your “coloring” is perfect! I, too, love to color. Whenever I am really stressed, I pull out a book and crayons and color away!
Always love flowers and you have done a beautiful job in coloring. I haven’t tried blender pens or Aqua painter yet. For some reason I’m a little intimidated. Isn’t that silly! We are in the priocess of moving so haven’t been able to do any crafting but I am determined to try these techniques after we’re settled. Wish I could give Eddie a hug, he’s so sweet and. Ouldn’t havebetter “parents” taking such good care of him.
The razzleberry and the turquoise are a wonderful winning combination. This is a very lovely card. I too love to color. I say the best years of our lives must have been kindergarten–naps, cookies, and coloring!!!!
Beautiful, Susan! Your Blender Pens have served you well. Thanks for playing along with this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge!
This is a beautiful card — great flow. Lovely pop with the heart!
Beautiful card. Thank you for sharing
Beautiful, Susan! Such gorgeous watercoloring! Thanks for playing at Pals Paper Arts!
