Good Morning and you are getting this post late today for a couple of reasons….yesterday was a fabulous day as I turned the music up…made cookies…did a bunch of mailings and then “shared handmade kindness”….it was a very fulfilling day and then the icing on the cake was to have dinner with my Dad and brother (John has a terrible cold) so it was a great day all around.
Today is a day that Hannah needs to make a decision…she is so lucky as she graduates from college in May and has 2 amazing job offers, one at NIH in DC and the other at Duke University…so I am sending this silly card to her as this is a very exciting time for her.
It is truly amazing how many phone calls I have received from her over the past week and as you can imagine, she does most of the talking and trying to be a good Mom…..I just say – “this is exciting….I am sure that you cannot go wrong with either one…we love you….we are proud of you”
Does the worrying of your children ever stop?
I promised that I would give you a “pooch” update….we are in the meltdown on the East Coast so the beauty of the snow is turning into a muddy icky mess! Messy mud means muddy paws – the work does not stop but I love it! It still feels empty without Norman but ever day it gets better.
You can see that I attempted to create a card for Hannah that would make her happy and laugh…(and I am sure that many of you are like John was….he burst out laughing and said….that is different….then he thought that they were SHEEP……he needs glasses)!!!! This is from the Balloon Builders stamp set….very whimsical but very fun!
Below you will see the most incredible “share” that I found on Pinterest. Is this amazing or what! The obviously talented Darlene DeVries created this great visual for all of us to see….now I know that this is making you smile. They are super cute!
I know that this card will make Hannah smile…she knows that I am silly but she knows that I deeply care! I have combined (2) stamps sets to make this card…..the other one is Beautiful Ride…..this too is a fun and whimsical stamp set that have been really, really popular! I used the hearts and also the sentiment inside!
Look at the detail of this stamp set….it is a fun one and then I used the blender pen to fill in the hearts! When you click on the Beautiful Ride Set below you will see that I used just a part of the sentiment…..I just love when Stampin’ Up! offers sentiments that are perfect for the inside!
Cute….right????? The colors of the card are Sahara Sand as the base…..Soft Suede and then the Thick White. I am going to send this with her Valentines Care Package on Monday! I know whatever decision she makes…it will be a great foundation for her to continue her love of the sciences and research! We NEED people like this….research is sooooooo important and she just loves it!
Now to the parade of pictures of the pooches…..darn, we have some strange mis-fits but I adore each and every one of them!
To touch on Eddie a bit….he is hanging in there – last week was a GREAT week for him, energy was good etc….this week he is a bit slower but he never seizes to amaze me…all I have to say is “I’m going to the barn – does anyone what to come” and there is my little man….loyal always!
With the snow melting the dogs are finding new friends that have been covered….poor Mr. Chicken made it……Eddies Mr. Smiley made it…..Rosie’s favorite pull toy made it…..it’s like Christmas in our yard! I find a pile of toys by the back door!
All of these pictures were take either last night or this morning! There truly is never a dull moment and I hope the one of Charlie makes you laugh….he truly is a bit different~ this is how he sleeps most of the time.
Thanks for popping in and I hope that I made you smile. Please keep Hannah in your thoughts as she makes this decision….I am just waiting to hear the final decision….she is a mess but I adore her….she is sooooo hard on herself!
Below you will see the goodies that I used to make my silly card (John might laugh but I thought it was cute)….have a great day and please do not underestimate the power if a simple card…a simple smile…a simple hello!

Your card is darling (and does not resemble a sheep, ha ha), your daughter will love it.
Oh, Susan, you definitely have a life where there is never a dull moment, but you seem to handle it all so well and calmly. The answer to your question about whether mothers always worry is yes we do!! You’re right about Hannah’s choices – either way she’ll be able to fulfill her dreams and do good for the world with her research. Your card did make me laugh. It is always fun to get inspiration from others for stamp sets we have but haven’t quite figured out how to use them. Love the pics of your furbabies. They all look so content.
Susan, oh no, we are in the middle of another snow storm 6-12 inches. I’m sure 6″ are already down. Marty shoveled once already. I adore your “dog” card. I knew immediately they were dogs. I don’t think we every stop worrying about our children. I’m so happy I am here to worry and support them. I was alone since my 20’s. Our biggest achievement in life is knowing our children can make it on their own, we raise them to be independent. Oh my, how did I get so serious? Cards, cards, think cards! I love the photo/link to all the animals you can make with the set. That is great!
So keep warm and cozy yourself.
🙂
I think it’s cute! Right away looked like dogs to me. Very soft looking and perfect for a cheerful Valentine’s Day. I love the hearts!
I always smile when you share pictures of the animals 🙂
How about a simple comment: ADORABLE! The card AND the photos! I love when I find one of my poodles lying on her back with all 4 legs elevated spread eagle (as I call it) and not a care in the world! We need to learn from our fur babies and relax more~
Adorable card!! I could tell they were dogs 🙂 Very cute! I thought this set was fun in the catty but you really make it fun. Good luck to Hannah on making her decision…what a bright future ahead! Thanks for sharing the pictures and updates on your animals…they are so dear. I hope we will see a pic of Daisy soon. Take care and have a wonderful thawing weekend 🙂
Love your funny balloon puppies. (My apologies to your husband–I’m just not seeing sheep.). Best of luck to Hannah. She has worked hard and is deserving of her bright future. The dog pictures are so sweet. Thanks for those too.
What a sweet card and so creative! The pictures of your dogs always gives me smiles. Thank you for sharing your family.
You are a wonderful mom, to the children and pups. She will ADORE your card and the love within it. I DO NOT see a sheep! Silly John, sheep are for Easter and babie cards! Congratulations to Hannah also. I know you are beaming all proud of her, I did with my daughter too. Thanks for passing along the balloon art ideas!
Love your blog, and all your creations. Your pups are adorable. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Oh…how…cute! I am sure Hannah will love it. I may have to use this idea for one of my son’s newest ambitions. Great pictures of the critters also. Thanks so much for sharing. I love your creativity.
Your card is funky cute! Take it from a “sheep herder”….it looks like a dog and not Rod Stewart! I love the pics especially Charlie…..made me laugh! I am sure whatever decision Hannah makes it she will soar…good luck to her!
Susan, your card is so adorable. I saw dogs right away. Sorry John, You have such a great sense of humor. I love to read your blog. You make all of us feel like we are sitting right at your kitchen table sharing a great cup of coffee with a great friend. Please wish Hannah good luck from me and all of your readers. I know where ever she lands the company will be very lucky to have Hannah working for them. Your pictures of your dogs are so great. I love each of them. I laughed at poor Jack trying to fit into Rosie’s bed. I love the picture of Charlie. I have a Rosie and sometimes our bulldog will lay on the floor and scratch her back with her legs in the air like Charlie. You brought smiles to my face. Have fun with all the mud. Hugs, Ellen Hinds
excited for both Hannah and you. I live in Chapel Hill and she will love it in the triangle however Washington would also be very exciting I would think. Good luck
Ladies, when Susan first presented this card she said “don’t laugh”. At that moment I was already with a chuckle since she was already smiling. it was a set-up! The card is cute and Hannah will appreciate receiving it. I always commend my wife for having such creativity with the variety and styles of cards. She is creative!!
On a separate note, our wonderful animals do make each day a special day. it is never a dull moment. We do miss our little beagle Norman. He had a wonderful time with us for four years. Now we keep Eddie going just one day at a time. Which is how our lives go- just one purposeful and joyful day at a time. Hope you all enjoy a great weekend!
This card is so darling. I think the balloon builder stamp set would be hard to use but you nailed this one. Thanks for posting daily, I sure enjoy visiting your blog.
Great card with the balloon dogs! Made me smile. When I saw the set, I thought ugh but seeing all the animals that Darlene stamped. You need to make a card with Miss Daisey on it some time! Love all your fur baby photos. I hope John needs NEW glasses and not that he needs glasses period. Wouldn’t that be a little rough doing taxes and accounting stuff? I need new glasses. Maybe little Charlie just had an itch? I am sure Hannah will make a great choice and she will be the best there is. If not, well, an A for effort but I think she will be fantastic at whatever she does.
Oh, I did get your post in my E-mail today so that was fun. I even made a card today, my next door neighbor had a stroke a couple of days ago. She is only a few years older than me. She has lots of family here so that is good. Her husband came home to shower and either went right back to her in Des Moines or went to see the grandson perform in show choir. I didn’t get to talk to the family to see how she is doing as they have been with her almost all the time. Maybe tomorrow. Well, here is Ted coming to see what I am doing. Better go see if he has to go out.
Susan, love the card, congrats to Hannah! Thanks for the updates on your fur babies, they are all beautiful!
This card is adorable….Hannah will surely smile ear to ear when she receives it. Also, what a wonderful decision she has to make! Obviously, she has worked very hard to earn these job offers and I’m sure will make a good choice….Congratulations to Hannah and to you and John, also.
Definitely a set up John! And you’re 100% correct at how creative your wife is. We are so happy that she shares with us every day and also keeps us updated on the rest of her life
Does the worrying of your children ever stop? No. Simple and true answer. Good luck to Hannah…..
Absolutely ADORE your card! thanks for sharing your dog photos. They are truly blessed. Our rescue dog and Rosie look alike, but he has some of Charlie’s problem. .. he is a clown dog.
LOVE your card !
