Happy HUMP DAY!!! Yesterday was a day that I can only sum up by saying….I FELT LIKE I WAS CHASING MY TAIL!?!?!?!!!! Have you ever had a day that you wanted to get a BUNCH ACCOMPLISHED….but you just could not get into the groove!?!?!?
I felt like my “TO DO “ list was huge and I think I was having a pity party for myself but no one was showing up…..except Eddie. Sweet Eddie..…he is doing great and he was upstairs with me in my work area…but the others…..snoozing on the job!
I decided to play with some techniques and even though you I am the “clean….simple gal” I thought that I would try something new for you! My question is…I am giving you a “taste” and please leave me a comment if you would like to see a whole post/ maybe a video on the ins and outs!
I had an email from someone asking me if I knew of a good embossing poser in a specific color. We did not have it but I suggested that she used the color that we have and then going back over it with clear embossing powder and PRESTO – you have your own custom embossing powder!
Have you ever tried this?
Below you will see that I used the Flower Patch Stamp set and a variety of colors to make a fun palette! Use any color that you want….and then clean your stamp, pull out the versamark….go over the stamped, inked image and then stamp with the versamark and use the clear embossing powder.
This is what it looks like with the embossing powder before you heat set it….INSTANT MAGIC!
I know that this pictures are not the best….as I was in my work area where there are no windows….but I think that you can get the idea – the end result, a beautiful shiny color that is super rich and elegant….WOW!
Well…would you like to see me do a step by step post with this technique? I know that it is a little different than my clean and simple style….but I will let you give me the feedback – leave me a comment with your thoughts!
You all are the best….thanks for popping in…..thanks for leaving me feedback!
Hmmm. Susan, this all sounds very familiar. : ) I had wondered how you would get the embossing powder to stick with a dye ink. I hadn’t thought of going back over it with versa mark. Very clever! Did you use your Stamp A Ma Jig to apply the versa mark, or were you able to eyeball it?
The result is really great. Thanks for demonstrating it.
I can’t wait to see what you decide to do with your pretty art piece from your experiment.
Well…you know I ADORE the Stamp~A~Jig but on this….I was able to see through as it was a photopolymer set….if I were to do this with other stamps…than yes, I would use my plastic friend!
Hi Susan’
Yes, I would be very interested in a video showing this technique. Thanks!
I plan to do a variety of the different ideas left in the comments….it will be fun to see the results!
I love your results and post. Would also love to see a video on this! Thank you!
Will do….keep an eye on it!!! Thanks for the comment!
Oh, my, Susan do I have an easy tip for you! One day while I was about to leave a comment on a card in the Splitcoaststamper gallery, the gal told the way she embossed her items without using colored embossing powder. Here’s the details, and I’ve tried this several times and it works: place your stamp into the Versa Mark FIRST (get a good inking) then immediately stamp it into the color of your choice then onto the cardstock. This will not ruin your inkpad. Next, add the clear ep and heat. At first, I thought I had to do it the way you did yours, so I tried it, but I didn’t get the images to line up correctly and got frustrated (no photopolymer stamps were invented back then!) so I went back and did it the way she said and it Worked! Very easy and presto…instant shine! I hope you will give this a whirl sometime~ I’ve told several people this trick and they tried it and were happy.
You are my hero and also a bunch of others too! I have inked it and then quickly added the powder but you have given me a new trick to try!I do think that having a versa mark refill is so important as you do need a sticky pad! Thanks Roberta – you are soooooo darn tootin’ talented!!!!
That is the suggestion I was going to make. I have done that. It requires cleaning the stamp EVERY single time between images, though, or you end up with colors on your versamark pad.
Great post, great topic. I use clear EP over the ink itself. The trick is you have to have the clear EP open and ready. (I did 20 items for a shower . . . five at a time.) You can heat all at once.
🙂
You are AMAZING….way to go…the key is in getting the powder on quick….heat embossing can be done in batches…..I am sure that your project was a true blue keeper as you are the best!
wow the possibilities are endless thanks for sharing….hope you are enjoying your trip
You’ve got that right….the ideas and options are endless….that is why I love what we all do!
Interesting….I have never tried it this way but definitely will give it a go. I have done it like zerhan13 above which works nicely. I also like Roberta’s suggestion and will try that one too. Thanks for the tips ladies…always helpful. Enjoy the day!
Please try it and then try the others as well…maybe our favorite SHEEP HERDER could shed some light! SHEEP ROCK….Mary ANN ROCKS!
Thanks for the reminder of this wonderful trick Susan! I am imagining lots of experimenting going on here. I remember doing it the way Roberta mentioned. I am wondering if the new inks are better at holding the EP the way Zerhan13 did it. Experimenting to commence today!!
You can get a great result with our inks….but you need to be super quick with the embossing powder! Hang tight….I will be doing some experimenting!
Yes, Susan, I think we’ve all had days where we chased our tails and didn’t accomplish as much as we would have liked. Yes, definitely, I would like a video on how to do this. I’m always up for learning new techniques. Have a better day!
It has been a good day – I guess that I could chalk it up as being an over achiever ~ I should have cut my to do’s in 1/2 and I might not have been so dizzy in chasing my tail!
Thank you for the reminder of this tip. I am also intrigued by the alternative suggestions. What a great give & take.
Based on your introductory cartoon, I was expecting a card with Giggle Greetings!
That would have been sooooo appropriate! I love that stamp set and it would have been perfect! Thanks for popping in!
Pretty! I think a video would be good showing your way and maybe trying the other version by one of the comments. I don’t think I have done this before.
Not that I am being a Crabby Chrissy but I feel like if I was chasing my tail – I would catch it and chomp down and then probably get an infection started! Not trying to spoil the mood but just not having the greatest of times lately. Who has a migraine on their birthday and wasn’t even celebrating with green beer or anything similar!
Oh Chris….what can I say but you make me SMILE….you BRIGHTEN each day….and I can’t wait to meet in person one day….it WILL HAPPEN and we will laugh and laugh! Hugs to you my friend!
I would also love to see a video, Susan. That looks like the start of a beautiful card 🙂
Twist my arm….ok – I will be glad to as long as you watch it!!!!
Good old Eddie probably loved his one on one time with you ?. So loyal and loving ❤️. I love your color choices and the responses have been interesting today. I love that others chimed in on their own results. Thanks!! I will add something I Ike to do as well. I Ike to use the black embossing on the sentiment sometimes…..it makes it pop!! I am anxious to see what you do with this beautiful paper you have created. Hope your day is rewarding for you today, Susan.
Eddie is a trooper, a real friend. I talk to him all of the time and I actually will work on something and then I find myself saying…..HOW DO YOU LIKE IT!!!! Way to go for using the black embossing powder! I always seem to get flakes of it and then I am frustrated….
Dear Susan, your card is so pretty. Yes I would love to see you do more of these cards and a video would be great. Have a much better day today. Hugs,Ellen Hinds
Dear Ellen….so glad you like these big beautiful blooms…you have twisted my arm…..I will work on a fun project for you!
Love these bold embossed blooms! So nifty and a great way to get them embossed!
I agree…it brings a FAST wow!
I always use clear Embossing Powder ….it looks good and much easier . Your posies are pretty ! You know we always love those videos starring SUSAN !
So yes by all means crank one out for your “Bloggies”
Oh Sonny….YOU ALWAYS bring a smile to my face! I agree – clear embossing powder ROCKS!!!!
wow, I really love this technique, Susan! And so many others’ ideas as well. I haven’t tried ANY of these, but I sure will now. thank you all! And yes, we love your videos, Susan. So appreciated. 🙂 Hugs to all and the pups too! Oh, and all your other “babies”.
