It's Thursday and you know what that means…It's time for a PPA challenge and this week it is a color challenge using the colors of Baked Brown Sugar, Pear Pizazz and Pumpkin Pie! I was so excited to see these colors together!
My personal favorite are the color challenges….they really push me out of my comfort zone and make me think out of the box!
There are 2 things that I love about this card:
- It has a WOW factor that looks like it would be a hard one to do…but let me tell you – can you say "easy-peasy". Go to page 22 in the catalog, I have always looked at that card and said – I want to do something like that one day….and today is the day! So darn' simple!
- I adore the odd size it is. The card is 5 1/2" X 3 1/2"…I truly did not have a ton of time to make this so I went to the Envelope Punch Board and read all of the different sizes you can make that are odd…and when I saw this size and knowing that I am going to use the 1" square punch – I knew this would work! BINGO-BANGO!!!
Let's get to business BUT after you see my post, I do hope that you hop over to the Pals Paper Art Website and see all of the fabulous ideas and then I hope that YOU take on this challenge! It is open to anyone and if you need help uploading your picture….I would be thrilled to help you…..JUST DO IT!
- The whisper white card base is 5 1/2" X 3 1/2" and then truthfully I just start using up scraps and inking up the stamp with the Baked Brown Sugar and the Pear Pizzazz and then POPPED them out with the 1" Square Punch!
- The Stamp Set is Hello, Lovely and it is so fun and versatile! The designs on the stamps itself are just beautiful and if you just let yourself wander and play – look what you can come up with!

- I took a piece of Pumpkin Pie paper larger than I needed (I figured this would not be as stressful and it worked like a charm)…I simply place alternating colors trying to leave the same amount of color peeking through…making it 5 across and 3 high….then presto – to the Stampin' trimmer we went!
- Next, the sentiment….isn't this a great message – it came from the World Treasures Stamp Set and the great thing is that it coordinates with the Apothecary Accents Framelits…..THANK YOU Stampin' Up for making it so easy!

- Can you see that I used 2 of the framelits…this made it a quick and easy focal point to really let the sentiment shine…but of course adding the Brights Candy Dots was a sweet and perfect touch and not lets not forget how special and vital stampin dimensionals are….they make it!
- Easy right!?!? Just think of all of the yummy colors you could put together…these would be super to heat emboss and then punch out…let's get to the envelope! The envelope punch board was the key element to the works of this card! I simply followed the size measurements…punch…score…punch…score!

Wanting to do a bit more to the Baked Brown Sugar envelope, I lined the outside of the envelope with a selection from the Quatryfancy Specialty Paper Pack and it is PERFECT with the feel of the card - since I had extra stamped images and a framelit piece I thought how perfect to make the mailman smile!

Now before we leave for the day….answer this – Was this an easy card? I know that you are saying yes once you saw how I broke it down for you! Please CASE away and have fun with your own creations!

I love it! Every time I see a card with squares in a lay-out like that, I want to do it. When I think I’m going to do one, I end up doing something else entirely. Not sure how that always happens. I love everything about your card!
Since I do not have the new In Colors, yet, what other brown would you suggest for being closest to Baked Brown Sugar? I even have some old, retired neutrals, like Close to Cocoa and Creamy Caramel, if one of those is in the same direction. I would like to play with that color combination!
Have a super day!
Very striking!
That is beautiful!!!!!!!!
Beautiful Susan.
Perfection! Love the squares (I originally reached for this set but changed direction) but really love the way the sentiment is layered in the center of the card. Nice job!
Hi Susan, I love the whole card, but especially the layering of the sentiment. You always make your cards look so natural and effortless. Hope to CASE this one soon, especially the size. Looking forward to tomorrow’s post, … as I always do. Thanks a bunch. 🙂
Fresh and fun and you have such patience to be aligning all those squares!
beautiful display on the card front. love the coordinated finishing touch with the envelope. wish my mind worked like yours.
Wow Susan. How long did this take you to do? I wish I had your patience too and at least half of your talent! Wow! I especially love, and I am going to try, the way you layered your sentiment. That is totally awesome! The colors ROCK! Perfection! Thank you so much for sharing with us!!!!!
That’s a BEAUITIFUL card , love those colors and so neat !!!

I do not know why I do not receive your posts in my mailbox anymore so I am going to subscribe again in hopes I will get an email every day instead of having to log on to your blog….much easier!
Wonderful design – you combined the colors perfectly!
Hi Bridget!
I think either of these would be super….also if you had soft suede that would be wonderful too! I was tickled with the card and it comes together….ZOOM fast!
Hi Lynn….you are going to laugh…but I made a card for this challenge and then figured out that I used the wrong color!!!! It was such a cute card I decided to keep it for a post next week!
This card is EASY to make – simply stamp several of the colors needed – use the punch and PRESTO….it comes together much faster than most cards…trust me – I did it after work….while dinner was getting ready and BAM!!!! Try it – super easy and fun!
Hi Jeanie….I do not understand why you do not either! I checked on my end and I do not see anything ( but the again, we know that I am challenged with technology)…..
IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM….not getting daily posting sent to you?
I would suggest subscribing again….give it a whirl and see if you get a “dose of me” in the morning!
Thanks for your comments….you’re the best and an inspiration to me!
Hi Nancy…you are such a sweetie for always leaving me uplifting comments! Please make this…so fun and easy! I agree – the size of the card is so different…you know me – I love strange sizes – pop in tomorrow! Hugs!!!!
Hi Susan, I still get your posts in my mailbox, so no problem for me. I bet if Jeanie re-subscribes she’ll be fine.
I just LOVE looking at your blog and reading it as well. It’s always so much fun to read! Your style is entertaining and your projects are gorgeous!
Thank you for being such a great inspiration.
Love this fun card! I love the little squares with that pattern. I have tried this before but my lines were never straight or something silly so I would rip it apart. Yours is way better though than my design was. Then there is that envelope – wow! Just a total complete package of elegance! Made while making dinner? Good lord, were you making a 5 course dinner that takes oodles of time? No way, could you pop this out that fast! Love it!
What a perfect pairing! Thanks so much for sharing!
I’m a big fan of checkboard patterns/squares. Loved this card and your card for today (10/4).
Love it ALL!!
Wow, Susan! This is gorgeous! Love everything about it! 🙂
What a great card, Susan! Love the way you’ve used this set! I’ll have to get it out and give it a whirl!
