I hope that yesterday was a super special day filled with family, memories, laughter and lots of great food!
I had originally planned to have this post for you yesterday – but honestly, Wednesday night was super busy and fun with family….my family said to me…."Mom – no computer!!!!"
So a day late but you are going to LOVE this post as you will have a blast making these gems for all different holidays, birthdays and I am going to make them for my daughters sorority when they have their big fundraiser(a dinner and auction for Breast Cancer!!!!) as favors for their place settings!
I will do my best to walk you through this but please, as always – I am an email away and I will be happy to email you back or better yet, call you if you have specific questions! I realize that these "sour cream" containers have been around for a while….but then again – the oldies are the goodies!
I have shared with you in posts how I have been lovin' the Thankful Wood-Mount Bundle...and even though "Turkey Day" is behind us….i just want to show you how versatile our products are! These adorable gems were made from the "paper for the napkin holders" and I will say – they were a huge hit at my house yesterday!

So cute,so fun…so meaningful and in each one is an inspirational message as well as some yummy chocolates! I printed out my messages on computer paper, simply cut it into strips and then tucked it in the adorable "sour cream container"!
Let's get to the fun…remember, I cut the paper from the "napkin" part that was in the kit and you will not believe how much paper I still have to work with!
- The paper size is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" and put sticky strip on 3 sides (the 2 long one and the 1 short side – see photo)
- Fold over to make a "tube" – basically it looks like a toilet paper roll! Next squeeze one end shut!
- The next step I did is TOTALLY optional and it does not alter the end result of the project "staying together" – but I will say that I like the look! I took a paper crimper and crimped about 3 turns!
- Now here is the part to make it all come together! After you put the candy etc….in it – take the project and turn it and squeeze the opening to create the "sour cream" container effect….again – crimp the edges if you are using the crimper!
- To decorate these gems I took pieces of Very Vanilla ( 3 1/2" X 1") and stamped the very appropriate message of "Give Thanks" from the Best of Autumn Stamp Set! So simple, yet so perfect! I used Soft Suede to stamp my image! A quick snip of the end to make a banner effect is all that is needed!

When you go to adhere this…just use glue dots…so fast! I took a piece of ribbon at 6" in length (sorry, I know that this is a discontinued ribbon) and again used glue dots – this makes it go soooo fast!
Here is the end result – I bet your smiling!
These are fun to make and you can see that I piled them in a HUGE decorative Wine Glass that I have…when you have people over…you can have them "pick one" to enjoy!
Another great idea to fill these up with would be "conversation ice breakers" – this is something that we used to love to do when the kids were little to get them to tell us some of their memories that were special to them!
I hope that this inspired you and that your head is spinning on how you can make these up for all different occasions! I think they are adorable!
Have a fabulous day, I am lovin' having the kids home and I love the fact that I make most of my gifts and do not have to worry about the crazy crowds at the stores! To me…
My 2 hands creating works of art from my heart and ordering from the internet works for me! I will be sharing with you some super cute gift card holders!
Until tomorrow!

Love this idea! THe sour cream containers may be an old idea to some, but newbies like me appreciate the directions. Thanks for sharing!
P.S. I feel the same way about giving homemade gifts and shopping the internet or buying from local or home based businesses. I hate shopping with the crowds. I stay home all day Black Friday and decorate and create! Fun family times!!!
Ooo, pretty Susan Yum wine looks good !
Hope your having a great day ,
Hugs frenchie
I am glad you enjoyed the holiday with your family. Thanks for the directions for these containers. I am new to the craft and have not seen them done before. I love them!
I love this stamp set, a combination of my favorite autumn stamps.
Reminds me of the 3d cards my grandmother use to make. Great fun!
Happy Hollidays!
