O.k. my friends…I need your help…I need your prayers!!! My dearest friend Dad is very ill…and we need our positive energy going his way! I am going to try to make a bunch of cards that are fun, fresh and appropriate for a man (but I know his wonderful wife will love them)!!!
So Ted…this card is for you! If my cold is better I am hoping to go and see him on Sunday but I need to be well as he is in treatment! Sometimes there are “curves” in life that I just do not understand…there are way to many accomplishments and milestones for this great man to see!
My inspiration comes from my Stampin’ friend Jeanie…you have heard me talk about her a bunch…well she sent me the most wonderful card of thanks and inspiration and it is something that I will always cherish….so I had to tweak it a bit….so Jeanie – this card is my “kick off” card for Ted!
The base is Very Vanilla , a regular A-2 size but scored at 5 ½” to make it a vertical card…something fun to change it up a bit!
Working down…the Baked Brown Sugar is 3 ¼” X 4 ½” …and the super designer series paper of Retro Fresh, is 3” X 4 ¼” and then the last is Very Vanilla is a 2 ¾” square!

I want you to remember this card as this is a “keeper” layout….one to come back to – just think of all of the papers and stamps that will make a dynamite card
The Stampin-a-ma-jig is my friend (and yours too I hope) to make the perfect placement of the sentiments that is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set. No rhyme or reason on how I stamped it…I just knew that I needed to keep it high enough so I could put the mini hearts !

Did you see the teeny tiny hearts inside? Where did they come from… that darn “Owl Punch”…he makes his presence when you least expect it!
The finale to the card is the simple yet classic Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon…this ties soooo amazingly each and every time! “knots” work for me…what do you think?!?!
Because I did not think Ted would notice the envelope if it was lined in the inside (men…they do not notice as much) so I decided to line the outside…and it is super cute!
Easy…simple…fast…super cute – what more is there to say! I hope that this card inspired you as much as Jeanie’s card did to me…I know that Ted will love it!
I am ready for you for the next couple of days…I swear – I let my life inspire me with my postings! This is the beauty of blogging…it let’s me pour my personality into my passion!
Remember how I said my oldest son’s Birthday is on Friday – well MISSION accomplished…my inspiration came while I was “picking” Stanley’s stall (Hannah’s horse) last night…it is super cute….well I think it is!
Here is an opportunity for YOU to grab some blog candy from me! Will is going to be 27 on Friday and he is my child that lived in China for 4 years after he finished college teaching…he now lives in Boston and is a Montessori Teacher for “little ones” so….
I will pick the closest to my heart… your interpretation of what my card to my dear Will will be on Friday! Even John said…WOW – now that it great! So put your thinking cap on and guess what the card is going to look like for Will on Friday on his special day!
What will you win….you will win YOUR CHOICE of a Sale-a-bration item…that’s right – your choice!!!! I will keep it open until Thursday night at 9 p.m. and then on Will's 27th Birthday on Friday the 28th you will see who is the lucky winner! WOWZERS – my dear Will is 27!!!
I am feeling better…not the best and I feel like my poor nose looks like Rudolph but I am determined!
Let’s have a GREAT day…you can email me if I can help you…
Thank you for your precious time and please send your thoughts, prayers and positive energy Ted’s way….
Thank you….until tomorrow!

Susan a wonderful card. It will surely perk Ted up (and his wife). Glad you are feeling better, big stampin hugs back to you.
Such a nice card ! I love this dsp and I usually don`t like Retro looks or too much brown in my papers . All my best healing wishes out to Ted . Your card is perfect Susan with those special little hearts . So so many people use those little hearts from that “Owl”.
Very nice card. I’m sure it will bring many smiles. My guess for Will’s card . . . maybe the world map. 🙂
I love the smaller-than-standard panel on the standard-sized card! I really like what you’ve done with the colors! That DSP is not my style, but I love it on your card!!! The hearts just make the whole thing, in my opinion! This will certainly bring a smile to the whole household when it arrives!
So glad you are starting to feel better!
Cyberhugs!
Best wishes to Ted and glad you are getting better! I love your card! I love Retro Fresh DSP although I don’t have it! This side of that particular sheet is my favorite!!
Perhaps for Will’s birthday you’ll use the Map It Out Photopolymer Stamp set of the United States and utilize the “darn” Owl Stamp Set to punch that same little heart, which will be placed in the state where you are at and then when where Will is at! Sending birthday wishes across the miles to the one you love!! 🙂
My father-in-law’s birthday is also February 28. He will be 93 years old! I will definitely use the World Map stamp for him as he emigrated to the United States from Switzerland by himself when he was 18. Happy Birthday to Will! I’m not sure exactly what your card will look like, but I’m pretty sure it will include three of something, your signature dots (and maybe dashes), and of course a decorated envelope! Maybe some image that is more “kid-like” and that globe that is in one of the sets . . . . . .
Happy Birthday to Will! I know you will have a decorated envelope and the card will have used the Stamp=a-ma-jig and your stamping vitamins! The theme will be his travels and love of teaching children.
Beautiful color coordination – beautiful card. simple but exudes so much warmth. LOVE LOVE LOVE the soft suede taffeta ribbon – tied into such a “man-ly” knot! Thanks for sharing your passion with us. You keep me inspired.
As for Will’s card – my guess is Another Great Year from the Occasions mini. with the sentiment: another great year, another great birthday. and of course a dsp decorated envelope!
My guess would be the stamp set called around the world or By the Tide they love their lobster in the part of the world, Stay safe and hope you feel better soon. Anyway good energy and thoughts.
If I was making a card for my son I would do a basketball card. SO I am sure you will make one that reflects what Will loves.
Since I am not a mom, it is hard for me to relate to that child/parent bond so I have no idea what i would do for a card. But, what I do know is that from daily following your blog, you are a woman who’s family is her heart. You love your son but clearly gave him the wings to fly and pursue his own destiny in life. I would guess your card would somehow reflect your love for him (perhaps with a heart) and his love for whatever he loves, which sounds like that would be travel and young children. I also know that whatever the card has on it, it will remind him of how much he is loved. Happy birthday Will.
Glad you are starting to feel better, and I will be putting your friend Ted on my never ending prayer list.
First of all, I love Retro!
Will’s card? Hmmmm…..travel, children, and a horse stall….trying to think of how you will combine it. When my daughter had a horse, we mucked the stall…is that the same as picking?
Thanks for all of your inspirations!
I bet the card will have the sentiment “Happy Birthday”. Thanks for the chance to win.
Like this card. Simple and to the point. Praying Ted gets well soon.
I know Will’s birthday card will be about travel and of course children – then there’s the Happy Birthday phrase.
Hope you are feeling better by the week-end so you can go visit Ted.
Thanks for a chance to win.
What an eye pleasing card for Ted! I think Will’s card will be over the top and filled with love whatever stamp set and paper you decide to use!! Homemade…with love…that is ALL that counts!!
I like stamps with a nautical theme, when making cards for men, so that’s what I’m guessing – the set with the lobster and shell.
Beautiful card. Love the DSP.
I think you will use the World map stamp and beautify it like you always do.
Ted and his family will love this card! It is really pretty and that ribbon just makes it all that much more wonderful! You are just so thoughtful!
Card for Will I would think the map would be quite appropriate. Not sure if it would be the world map or the states. I am not sure I know what “picking” the stall is and not sure I want to know! How could that made you think? I am like the others with the little dots, little heart decorative envelope etc. Then, for John to say “Wow” it really has to shine somehow. I will keep thinking. Whatever it will be – I am sure it will be a great one! Darn, I sure wish I could win a sale-a-bration item. I haven’t felt like I can splurge right now. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
thoughts and prayers for your family at this difficult time. hang in there! as for the birthday card … forest friends with the fun framelit/stamp set with the word bubbles. fresh and young at heart. so glad your cold is getting better.
You mentioned China. Wouldn’t a deep red with some of the new gold accents, vellum paper with the gold hearts, gold ink, or gold foil paper or ribbon look great? I hope so.
I’m guessing the sailing ships and a travel theme since he lived over seas for so long!! I hope that you and your friends loved one will be well very soon!! I will pray for all of you!!
Prayers are being lifted for you friend’s Dad. I am sure your cards will bring some sunshine to his day and a smile to his face. That is so sweet for you to do. Wishing Will a wonderful birthday. I am guessing that you used the Just Saying / Bubble bundle using the “You’re How Old”. He will always be your little boy and you can’t believe that he is 27 already. Hope you are feeling better.
Love your card ideas! Card for Will-maybe one that is a collage of all of his interests….travel, children and horses.
