Have you ever met someone that the minute you "really….really" understood "what they were all about" you left feeling so positive and fulfilled?!?! Well, this is exactly how I feel about Hannah's riding trainer…he is one special guy!
I feel like I am always telling you a story…and I get many emails from people asking me where my inspiration comes from!?!?
Well since I am on the Design Team for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge I need to have my design in by Tuesday at 1 p.m. – I have had these 3 colors out since last week and I asked myself…what am I going to do with them. I love the colors but I simply did not have a light bulb moment!
I even asked John…what do you see? I loved his answer… "3 sheets of different colors of paper” Men…they make me laugh…especially John!
Well I know you get tried of hearing my “soap box” stories but it was Tuesday morning and I was picking the stalls…(I know some people call it cleaning…some say mucking – I just say picking!!! )

Here’s the quick (I hope) story…on Sunday night I received a text from Hannah’s wonderful trainer, Tom. Hannah’s horse – Oscar is in Gulf Port for 6 weeks. He is leased for the year to a wonderful lady! Tom sent me a picture of Oscar and a text letting me know that he was a good boy and won both of his classes…well being the proud Mom…my heart skipped a beat!
Back to Tuesday morning…I woke up super early still scratching my head as what card to create for the challenge…

THEN THE LIGHTBULB CAME ON…
All while picking poop! (sorry – I just could not resist) I was thinking about Oscar and how proud I am of him being such a good boy and taking care of this lady (funny, her name is Susan too)…
The barn’s colors are Navy and Grey (woot-woot…the challenge) and how appropriate – make Tom a card that looks like a ribbon in the colors of the barn! I did a woot-woot with the pitchfork in my hand!!
I was not worried about the wisteria wonder…heck – I can fit that in somewhere! Mission accomplished!
He adores Peanut M & M’s(only on Sunday’s) and I thought he would love a care package from me saying “thank you” and how much I appreciate him taking such good care of Oscar…so this is exactly how this happened today!
Below is a picture of Hannah and Oscar at a show…I truly do not know why…but I adore this picture…he is such a great horse and Hannah is such a great young lady – love them both to pieces!
I truly do try to make my cards for specific people and occasions…I was happy with this one as I know Tom will appreciate it! Let's go!
If you go to the Annual Catalog and look at the Blue Ribbon Stamp Set...there is a ribbon stamp but I had problem…I do not own that stamp set….(now that's a real problem) but then I thought – I will make my own ribbon and it will be done…..BAM!!!!

This was so easy….
- The 2 1/2" Circle Punch was the base in Night of Navy.
- The 2 3/8" Scalloped Punch was the next and I used the Mono glue for a nice and flat hold!
- Pulling out the Starburst Framelits…I "squeaked" the smokey slate in perfectly! Before I popped it up using Stampin' Dimensionals, I pulled out the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get my sentiment perfect – so easy – so fast..such a good friend! The sentiment came from the One in a Million Stamp Set….(Tom is one in a million!!!)

- The last part of this sooooo simple card was the banners for the bottom of the ribbon! This is from the Banners Framlits! I swear, I do not know what I would do without framelits…they are true blue (ha-ha) lifesavers! Handy-dandy they surely are!!!
- Last but not least…the envelope! Remember…when in doubt – PULL THEM OUT! So….out came the Regals Designer Series Paper Pack!

The finale to my care package is the "loot of M & M's" for Tom! He will love them and I tied it using today's colors!!!
Even of you do not play with the PALS this week….help me out…if you were to so something with these colors…what would you have done!?!?! I was really stumped this week….but Oscar and Tom to the rescue!
Last night's card making for Breast Cancer was wonderful! On my way home I called Stampin' Up! to tell them a big "thank you" for making us such great products and encouraging us to "do good" – that is what I feel each and every month as I know 1st hand how special cards meant to my Mom while she battled cancer!
Have a great day – please go and see the other works of art from the others on the Design Team and please consider playing along!!!!
Have you figured out a theme for this weeks posts…???
Put your thinking cap on and until tomorrow…..!!!!!

Crisp, clean and fun! Love how you recreated the ribbon on the card…clever!
Susan, this is a wonderful card and thanks for sharing the wonderful story!
Susan, lovely card! Great story for a beautiful horse and beautiful young lady!
You nailed the challenge. Such a neat masculine card. Loved the story and I know Tom will love the card and goodies. You are special.
Great card. I guess inspiration really can come from anywhere! Lol. Wonderful story. Tom sounds like a terrific guy, not to mention… VERY good looking, with a gorgeous smile!
Great card, great envelope, great story and great photos!!! : )
I agree with Dawn . Loved it ! And I bet you are the only SU demo that gets her best ideas while cleaning up poop ! Truly an original !
A handsome, winning card for a winner of a guy! I like your stories! The picture of Hannah and Oscar is great!
I’ve been thinking about what all the cards this week have in common. If you are not including Sunday, since you mentioned on Monday that the cards would all have something in common, the only thing I have come up with is that the envelopes are all lined on the outside. You do that sometimes, but not every day. If that isn’t it, I’ll have to go back and look again.
Have a great Thursday!
Cyberhugs!
Soo, pretty Susan , your on fire !!!!
Hugs frenchie
A blue ribbon card, but better is the reason you are giving it to Tom. You are such an appreciative person and calling SU and thanking them, that is truly super. (Tom is very handsome if I may say so.) 🙂
I only started following you about 5 months ago and what I have learned about you is that you are a very giving person! Although the “above & beyond” card is for Tom, and well deserved, for taking care of your Oscar; I believe you go “above & beyond” with your giving spirit towards others!! Well done Susan for both your card for Tom and the giving person that you are to others!! 🙂
love, love ,love the color combo! I enjoy your stories; I am just starting on a blog and website and I want a personal touch. You are great inspiration on all fronts.
A blue ribbon card for sure!
Winner, Winner….M&M”s for dinner? 🙂 lol Truly, a great card, Susan!
What a fabulous card Susan!!! Love it!!! Boy does this bring back memories for me of my riding days!! I had no idea!! I’ll be in touch and we can share stories!!! Fabulous job!!
Not sure which I like better, the story or the project!?!?! The card is just great if not perfect! You could have added a little horse shoe and then the whole care package would have been a real “SHOE-IN!” Sorry, Susan I am not up on my horse lingo to make you smile – hope this did the trick!
Now that is a gorgeous card!!!
love how clean & simple this is.
great story, too!
paper hugs,
m
To answer your question, I was toying with the idea of trying the “faux mother of pearl” technique with one of the new floral stamps and these challenge colors.
I think Tom will love his card and gift.
