Good Morning! I feel like I have neglected you all for inspiration but today I think you are going to smile! I have for you a "sneak peak" of NEW products but then I am going to share with you another version with current stamps so I can walk you through how I made these cards!
Warning…lots of pictures, but I think that you enjoy the pictures. I was inspired by Stampingschool.com but I made some tweaks here and there to make it work for me! Let's get going!
The top picture is from the NEW catalog which will be here in a blink of an eye with how the calendar is rolling along…such a super cute stamp set called, Sea Street and the paper is from the new DSP stack called, Moonlight.
The bottom picture is from Starburst Sayings Stamp Set and Framelits! There are also some other sneak peaks in this picture….the new in color…Lost Lagoon (my favorite In Color) of the year and the "heavier" bakers twine in Strawberry Slush…(this is like what was offered during Sale-A-Bration…it is wonderful)
- The bases are flat = 5 1/2” x 4 1/4” for base of card. The layered piece is 5 1/4” x 4”.
- The Designer Series Paper is a simple 4" X 3"..that's it but here is what you do…fold…adhere…fold…adhere and DONE to the white piece! EASY-PEASY!!! Look below!
- When you do this to both ends it and fold it up…you can see the fun happen! Now is where you can have fun and play with shapes according to the shape of the stamp etc! Remember – this is a flat card but hang tight with me…you will see where you will have space to write a message.
- On the above, I used the square framelits to cut the Lost Lagoon Square (#5) and then the Starburst Saying was in Strawberry Slush. Using the new twine I made a simple knot and "fluffed" up the ends to make it fun!
- You can how adding Stampin' Dimensionals and simple dots using the white gel pen…just works and just fun! What's under the flap? A simple sentiment….from the must have – carry over stamp set of Four You – love it!
- This sentiment is from a NEW stamp set called Num-Num…a keeper and I see so many potential cards in the near future!
- Are you worried that you do not have enough space to write a note? No worries…I used the same size of whisper white to the back of the card and I took an OOBER cute stamp of "school of fish" to run across the bottom.
With the card being fun…I thought just lining the outside of the envelope was the perfect choice for today's card! The new DSP Stack is just fabulous and how do you not smile with polka dots?!?!
To me…this is a ton of fun! I took my friend Jeanie's advice and used the neutral candy dots for the eyes and the ribbon is a NEW in color ribbon…sooooo darn tootin' easy to work with and I am excited for you to play with it yourself!
I hope that this put a smile on your face…I think it is super cute but it is super easy! Pull out the stamps that you have and do your own creation of a work of art from your heart!
I can tell you…there are soooo many new and exciting ribbons
(and I think I know you too well…you are as excited as I am to get your hands on them!)
I am going to be offering a ribbon share with you for the NEW catalog!
I love shares…WHY??? It gives you an opportunity to have a variety of products without having to spend a ton of $$$ as I know…there are going to be soooo many stamp sets that you are going to want…..and being able to get the new ribbon without purchasing the whole roll is the way to go!
"I get it…as I am the same way….hurry up June 2nd!!!"
Tomorrow my catalogs arrive so that means all of my customers will be getting theirs shipped out on Friday! I am so excited to share the fun with YOU!!! If you do not currently work with a demonstrator, I would be honored to work with you…please email me and I will be in touch!
Let's have a great day and I hope that you try this…fun, fresh and easy card!
Until tomorrow…..

Love the new card style! I avoid solid stamps because I can never get them stamped to my satisfaction. Yours are perfect. Could you share your secrets! I know others have the same problems. I have tried a number of suggestions but none seem to work. Maybe you will have the answer for me. Thanks Susan! Love, love all your cards!!!!
Hi Kathy and thanks for the comment….a couple of suggestions – 1st, make sure your ink pad is well inked. I think many times we forget to purchase the “re-inkers” and then when we go to stamp especially a large flat image…we do not get the result we wanted (and I know that is frustrating)
I think the one thing that I always do and I will say it works for me at least…I take the sanding block and give the surface a quick scruff back and forth…(hope this makes sense) I think that it allows the ink to soak in and give a good solid stamp!
I hope others share their tips…this is what works for me and I do agree – it is frustrating when you do not get a clean image…have fun and thanks for popping by!
Hi Susan, you are so right about all the great possibilities with this card style. I needed a fun invitation
and thanks to you….found it! So glad that you will be offering a ribbon share…can’t wait, Thanks and have a wonderful day.
Hi Susan, you are such an inspiration to me! I fell in love with this new stamp set and now I have another totally different idea of what to do with it. My day starts with your posts, you always make me smile! Have a great day.
Another beautiful creation! I love this set and it on my list, love it!
I haven’t tried the sanding block as Susan has suggested but I’ve been meaning to try that out. Although I may think I have enough ink on my solid surface stamp, I will huff on the stamp as that seems to allow it to have a better stamped image. Just a thought. 🙂
BTW, cute cards today Susan! 🙂
Tonya thanks for hints. I hadn’t thought about the huffing. I will definitely give that a try!
Susan thanks for the hints about the sanding block. I had never heard that one before and it may
be the answer! I know about reinkers and using a “juicy” pad when stamping solid stamps! I will give the sanding and huffing a try! Thanks so much! Love you blog!
Susan,
Great card. Cant’ wait to make one. Looks simple enough.
I just got this stamp set in my pre-order yesterday. You sure made it come to life Susan. I love the candy dot eyes. And, I’m over-the-moon in love with Moonstruck DSP stack. And, I LOVE the new In=Colors.
I use a gum adhesive remover/eraser to use on new stamps. I find it works best for me.
Thanks so much for sharing Susan.
The octopus is so cute! So are the fish on the back. And what a fun style of card! Thanks for the sneak peeks!
I’m excited about your ribbon share! I definitely want to get in on that! Then I’ll be able to use current product, for once!
I always enjoy your blog!
Cyberhugs!
Great instructions and an awesome card Susan. I can hardly wait to make one.
I always stamp on a 1/4″ foam sheet I buy at the craft store for under a dollar in the kids section. It gives a soft cushion which makes the stamp sink into the paper better than stamping on a hard table. It works every time especially on those bigger stamps.
Love the Sea Street, recuse ex my box yesterday and my brain is on overload at the moment :). Love your cards, the folds almost gives them a 3D effect .
Two great cards. Love the style. 🙂
Hi Susan,
I love the DSP on the outside of the envelope. This seems like a silly question, but is there a trick for that? Or do you just trace that shape, cut it out, and apply it?
Thanks,
Kim
Love these, and great pictures/ tutorial on how to make. Now I want to play with my new stamp set that I won’t have until tomorrow. Just love that Octopus!!
Susan, The cards are adorable. I love the colors and the way you folded it. Thanks for sharing. Happy Stamping. Ellen Hinds
This is definitely my new favorite fold! This is such a WOW card!! I can’t wait for that new dsp! You are such an inspiration!!!
I use a worn nail file to rough up the surface of my solid stamps. The sanding block seems a bit too rough for the delicate surface of my stamps!! My nail file is just right because it is padded and I get great results from it too!!
Thanks for the tip about stamping on a foam sheet!
Great idea…whatever you use…just a light motion back and forth does the trick!
It does make a difference….just be gentle! Thanks for the tip with the nail file….
Hi Kim and thanks for the question! I have no rocket science method other than taking the paper and making sure that it is large enough to cover the flap.
I use the snail adhesive all around the edge – press the DSP on it and then trim away – EASY-PEASY!!!!
Have fun and please try it!
Dittos – I agree….I just sometimes forget about it! I have (2) of the SU Foam mats – one for paper piercing and then other for stamping!
This style of card is too much fun. Egads, this line is getting old, I swear I used it about on every one of your posts! Anyway, IT REALLY IS FUN! How about those googly eyes for the octopus? Those eyes were so much fun, I hope they appear again this Halloween for us to get more of! They seem to be the right size opposed to the ones I bought at the store and then no adhesive. Loving those dots! Of course I am going to have to try this card someday!
Hi Susan,
I love that cool fold!!! 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
Crafty hugs,
Jennifer
