Back to Webster…here is the definition for happy.
happy
ˈhapē/
adjective
adjective: happy; comparative adjective: happier; superlative adjective: happiest; suffix: -happy
1. feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.
Here are some of my "happy" moments that come to my mind….
- Watching old “I Love Lucy” and Johnny Carson shows!
- Having my jammies on and stampin’
- Waking up at 4:30 a.m. when we are at a horse show and having the excitement of a fun day ahead (I know that seems crazy but it is a happy thing for me)
- Another horse thing…giving them a good bath and hand grazing them after they have worked so hard!
- Getting all of the laundry done and PUT AWAY (I am famous for not getting it back to the drawers and then I am constantly looking for things)
- Seeing daffodils pop up in the Spring and crisp Fall nights that you can wear sweater.
- Making Thanksgiving Dinner…watching the Dog Show…and Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation (traditions we do on Turkey Day)
- Watching the dogs play and get excited when I come home and going to the barn and have the horses whinny to me when they see me!
- Seeing John’s smile as he comes in the kitchen door with the “fruits” from his garden. (This is the 1st year he has had a garden and he is so proud of it)
- Picking up the phone and hearing on the other end…a “peep” saying “Hi Mom!”
- Cooking a new recipe.
- Going on a long walk on Christmas morning while everyone else is asleep and reflecting on the "season"

Waking up to birdsongs – even on a rainy morning, like today!
what make me happy? Well let me tell ya. I love to cook, and watch others enjoy there favorite foods. So here is a little story of what I did to my brother that warms my heart and and hope it warms yours. The other day my brother wanted a apple pie, so I told him I would make him one. We have had so many Zucchinis in our garden and I just didn’t know what to do with them. The light bulb went off in my head and I found my recipe for Mock Apple Pie with Zucchini. I made it and took it to our card night and served it to my brother and OH MY GOODNESS he ate almost half the pie by the end of the night. Everyone loved it. So when we were all getting ready to go home he said “Tammy that was the best apple pie ever” I had to tell him the truth that it was not apple pie. It was zucchini. He didn’t believe me because he doesn’t like zucchini and would know if he ate. I know this is long but it really makes me happy 🙂
Finding my lost wedding ring!!!!!
Having no plans for the day and spending it with my 2 daughters, son-in-law and grandson—makes my heart smile 🙂
Hi Susan…Love your blog and check it everyday. You are very inspirational to me. Here’s what makes me happy…watching a sunset or a sunrise with my hubby of 28 years. We talk about all the different places we’ve been and watched the same sun set and rise. Truly amazing. I think experiencing all that life has to offer with my best friend is the biggest joy in my life. I’m truly blessed.
Enjoying time with family and friends makes me happy. It doesn’t have to be anything special since even impromptu times are good.
10 years ago my Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers (1 year after my Dad died). It was so hard for her and us to accept. For the past 8 years she has been in a nursing home and now is unable to move any part of her body except her head – no speech, no movement, I feed her lunch each day BUT when she smiles her smile lights up my world and that of those around her. That makes me so very happy I wouldn’t miss it.
Getting time to make goodies makes me happy! I love cooking for others especially sweet things.
Seeing the smiles on the faces on my granddaughters and hearing them said “Nana” as they run to hug me is my happy!
Being retired makes me really happy, because it allows me to spend time with my elderly parents and my grandchildren. (My grandchildren love to make cards!)
Another happy event for me is spending time in my “town away from town”, Oaxaca de Juarez, Oaxaca, Mexico, where I do paper crafts and other activities with indigent children.
I went to Turkey this year, to visit my daughter living there with
her husband & my grandsons. When my husband came over after three
weeks, I asked him, “what he wanted to bring home from Turkey to
remember our visit?” His reply, “I just want to bring you home
with me”. This made me really happy to hear. He was not interested
in a mug, key chain, etc. just me. We have been married for 10 years.
What makes me happy? First happy every morning is my hot cup of coffee with my morning scripture reading as I begin my day. My 7 year old Shihtzu had knee surgery this week and spent 3 days at a University hospital 2 hours away from me. Receiving a phone call that she was doing good made me feel some better. But happiness was being able to bring her home and have her lay in my lap and snuggle for hours.
I get happy when I sit down and share my love of stamping with someone that enjoys it as much as I do. I have been in different crafts, but for some reason this one gives me the most pleasure. I have been doing it for at least 15 years now and it never gets boring.
Some things that make me happy: going for a bike ride along the river with my husband, having friends over for dinner and then playing cards, going for a walk with my camera and spotting a bright yellow crab spider on a purple beebalm makes me almost deliriously happy, smelling the outside air after a rain storm makes me happy….aaaah, breathe deep!
Working in my vegetable garden!
HAPPY is what I am! I’m with my two sisters for a week in Colorado. Happy, happy, happy!
What makes me happy . . . A big ice cream cone, walking with a friend, being able to stamp/scrap/craft all day long, surprises from my husband, hugs from my children, and curling up on the couch with a blanket and a good book are a few.
Thanks again Susan for your cheerful post today. Lots of things besides stamping make me happy. But one happy moment yesterday was when my 12 year old granddaughter popped thru our door, a big smile on her face, with a bowl full of wild blackberries she had picked for us. So sweet.
Seeing a hummingbird in my yard makes me happy! They are such amazing little creatures! I love spending time with my two kids who gone most of the year at college. And any time spent at the beach!
Visits from any of my three grandchildren always makes me happy. I love being their “Marmee.”
Being able to see my daughter grow into a beautiful young lady! So blessed to have a wonderfulhusband but most of all is the love and forgiveness of Christ!!
There is nothing more delightful then hearing our grandchildren laugh with total abandon; watching the sun rise over the bay, highlighting the pink clouds and hearing our daughters voice on the phone. She is valiantly fighting cancer and teaches me how to live life with grace, determination and joy.
I’m blessed to realize that so many things make me happy. It’s generally the small things that add up to make me happiest…the sound of rain of the roof, a quiet day crafting with friends, watching a movie with my son, the smell of the beach, flowers on a walk…too many to list.
I am happy to be home from the hospital having surgery. My cats have provided some much needed pet therapy. Happiness has been a purring kitty.
Stamping with a group of gals – 3, 10 17 gals, just more than me by myself – that makes me happy. I am inspired by their creativity, and often their lives. When a great card comes together, I do the happy dance! And of course, your cards would make me really happy – thanks for sharing all your art.
Each day brings different things that make me happy, but they most often center around being with my children, grandchildren or friends. When I’m alone, card-making or reading a good book fill many hours with contentment!
I am most happy when I get to spend time with my grandchildren.
What makes me happy? Spreading happiness in others. Something as simple as reading a book with my 4 year old, holding hands with my husband of 16 years, cooking a delicious meal for friends and family, making a custom card for a birthday or other special event, cross stitching a piece for my loved ones, or just spending time with my family. And of course, reading your blog brings me happiness. Thank YOU for all you do.
In the past, nothing made me happier than seeing my hubby come off a USS Carrier after a 6 month deployment and finally be able to hold him in my arms once again! Being a home school mom to 3 sons also brought much happiness. In the present, moving out to the country (in Feb.) has had many happy moments. Mostly, I love the animals, new sights, strolling along country lanes, etc. My favorite thing to do is hike, and next week we will be doing a lot of it on our vacation! Yippee Skippy!!!
P.S. Susan, you make me happy reading your blogs every day. (Big Smiles) I adore your stories (and pictures) about your animals, especially when Daisy Mae stood pig duty!
What makes me happiest is when our girls come home and we are under the same roof. My hubby calls it may ‘calm time’. Nothing makes a happier mom when I have my beauties at home with us.
My most happy moments are when I hear the words “I love you Memaw!”
Happy after a wonderful downline meeting with my almost NEW UPLINE! I love stamping and what better way then with a fabulous group of girl with tremendous talent!! That’s what my HAPPYis!!
Spending time with my grand kids was what made me happy yesterday. I’ll leave it at that or I could be typing for an hour!
Stamping with my granddaughter, Erin the last time she was here!
Stamping w/ my jammies is way up there, but listening to certain Doo Wop songs really make me happy! Anything w/ chocolate and pecans works really well, also!
Happy is being able to create and send my cards to friends and loved ones.
Well, I am happy to see a photo of the two of you! Bridgett’s blouse looks like it would make a great SU card with the flowers and colors!
Otherwise, I am just unsure of how to answer today.
Cuddling with my kiddos on a day off makes me so happy 🙂
Still being madly in love after 47 years of marriage to my soulmate. Holding hands with my hubbie in church during the service…..I know, it’s a little thing but I always feel so loved and warm inside! Watching the hummingbirds at our feeder playing with each other. Watching the new kittens play together. Oh, there are so many things that make me happy……I could go on and on. Most important, though is knowing that I am
a child of God!
Spending time with my family, walking my dog, reading a good book, these are a few of my favorite things.
My kids make me happy! I was never blessed with children of my own, but have several in my life, from nieces and nephews, to a Big Brother Big Sister relationship from 14 years ago that is ongoing, and many more that God has put in my life.
Spending time with my family, walking my dog, reading a good book, these are a few of my favorite things.
I love to read your blog everyday!! Papercrafting makes me happy, when I have the time to create!!!
Faith, Family & Friends are definitely the big three in my life and of course a creative day of stamping!
So many things make me happy because like the stamp set says, I “choose happiness “. Mainly spending time with my grown daughters, especially all together. My 15 year old dacshund is always a source of much happiness. Tending my vegetable garden, going to farmer’s markets , making homemade jam and salsa are also on the list. Needless to say, since I’ve been happily married for almost 33 years, my husband makes me very happy!

We just had friends visit us. The man just had a bone marrow transplant in December and is doing really well! That makes me happy:)
What makes me the happiest is when I think about that Jesus loves me. Meeting each new niece or nephew for the first time, and then when I get to spend time with them and my mom and siblings brings great happiness.
Happy for me is making cards and giving them as Christmas gifts to my family. I am happy hugging my family and visiting with them.
Going to church this morning with hub and adult daughter, and out to breakfast afterward 🙂
Having my 4 year old great granddaughter come running to me saying, “Hi GG. I love you”.
When I stop and talk to someone … They feel special and so do I
What makes me happy? Waking up in the morning next to my husband of 50+ years. Two wonderful children and five grandchildren make me very happy. Reasonably good health (for my age!!). And most of all knowing that I have a wonderful, kind, loving, forgiving Savior that cares for ME. Why, I cannot fathom – but I know that He does. And then there are the kind and generous folks like you that share your beautiful creations to less creative people like me. God is so great and I am so blessed.
My stamping room is called my “Happy Space”. I love when the house is quiet and I can go to my happy space and stamp. There is nothing that can make my mood negative when I’m in the Happy Space!
Being able to make someone else’s day a little nicer always brings me happiness!
Just got back from a family reunion = HAPPY simple as that

Until next time,
Cyberhugs!
Going to Boy Scout Camp with my son and watching him work on his Merit Badges with the other boys. (He has Down’s Syndrome) We just got home from a week there…it was a happy and amazing time!
The memory of my mother makes me happy. She’s been gone some 7 years now, but not a day goes by that a happy memory doesn’t pop into my head out of nowhere or something happens and I think to myself, “Mom would have loved that”.
Crafting makes me happy and reading blogs and finding inspiration to try something new makes me happy.
And, of course, every minute of every day my little pup, Katy, makes me happy…her antics are a constant source of laughter.
Seeing a rainbow after the rain, listening to rain on a tin roof, watching the rabbits jump and play in the yard, time with family and friends, music, crafting.
Stamping makes me happy!
I am happy when I have a morning to sit on the porch and drink my coffee without having to hurry and go; when my husband brings me a cup of coffee with whipped cream and chocolate drizzled on top just for me; when I go to my wonderful church and get to worship with my wonderful church friends; having a whole to day to play in my craft room. Those are things that make me happy and bring me joy.
There is a lot to be happy about. But to name a few, looking at the vast stars on a clear night, watching my dog open the bark box each month, and get captured in a really good story. Thanks for the chance to win, I love your blog!
Paper crafting makes me happy! There are tons of things that you can do with paper including card making!! I’m currently making a clothes pin wreath using fall and Halloween papers and colors and that is heaven to me!!
Being on vacation and staying with my parents which gives me the opportunity to walk the 3/4 mile to town with my father to get the Sunday paper.

Eating watermelon (a really good ,ripe one) on a hot summer day outside so the juice can run right down your chin.
Oh goodness! My 33rd wedding anniversay was Friday and my Husband took me out to Red Lobster and then for an ice cream cone for supper last night. We have been thru so much together and it has just made us closer. It really made me happy to have such a nice night out just the two of us.
As I get older it is the simple things that make me feel happy…birds singing on a sunny spring morning, my dogs that are excited to see me when I get home from work, my grandson’s smile, caring friends and a wonderful family.
Having children who are divorced with blended families, I find great joy and happiness when we have all of our grandchildren together at our house and we share a home cooked meal. The grandkids range from 4-10 and there are six of them, so I just love having all of them around and asking me if we can bake cookies or brownies and letting them pick what we will have for the meal. I absolutely love being a Grandma. <3
…having my granddaughter snuggle up to me and say grandma I love you so much!!!!
Even if you have wrinkles on your neck…I’m still going to love you a lot.
It makes me happy to be able to spend time with my mother. We share a warm comfortable friendship so it really doesn’t matter what we do…it’s just nice to be together!!!
Becoming a grandma for the first time! My oldest daughter is having a baby boy in six weeks and I’m crazy, over the moon happy. Both baby & mom are healthy and, God willing, I’ll be holding my grandson soon. Babies are just the most perfect thing on this earth! That’s what makes me happy these days.
Today my happy was going to church with my family. Holding a friend’s new baby. The yummy smell of lunch that greeted us when we came home.
What makes me happy? Just spending time with my husband sharing his stories of his day at work. We will be celebrating our 35th anniversary in September and he still opens the car door for me! What a great guy!
My happiest times are: working in the yard on projects with my husband of 9 years, spending time with his 3 sons, their wives and the bestest part, “being called GRANDMA” by his 9 grandchildren. I was not able to have children and resigned myself to the fact that I would never be called “grandma”. We now have a great grand daughter and are thrilled. God has been good to us and we are so grateful for our families and all we have.
Thanks for offering the great “blog candy”. Good luck to everyone.
Happy working on yard projects with my husband of 9 years. Especially happy spending time with his 3 sons, their wives and 9 grandchildren. The bestes is when the grandchildren call me “grandma”. I was never able to have children and resigned to the fact that I would never be called “grandma”. Happy for the caring and loving families. We are now proud to announce we have a GREAT Granddaughter in our family. God has been very good to us and our families, so happy for all we have and all we are able to do.
Holding my daughter’s (from another mother), little boy for the first time.
Sitting out on the patio in the early morning watching and listening to the birds with a nice cup of coffee in hand. It is so peaceful and relaxing. It is just a great way to start the day. It brings me closer to God. It makes me happy!
Happy for me is joining my hubby on our front porch, cool beverages in hand, watching the hummingbirds fight over the feeder while the cardinals and chickadees enjoy an evening nibble and feeling the refreshing breeze from the overhead fans on our faces and reflecting on how truly blessed we are.
Thanks Susan for allowing us to share our “happy”. I must add that visiting your blog to see your new post also makes me happy.
Blessings to you
