Tweet…it is Tuesday! Today’s card will surely put a smile on your face! I have wanted to use this stamp set and I knew that this would be a great card to send to my friends that offered their home to use this week while at Cape Cod.
We all get ideas from a variety of different place but does this card look familiar to you? Well…in my opinion, Stampin’ Up! does an amazing job with the ideas that they photograph in the catalog!
This stamp set is a hostess stamp set called, Hello Love and on page 239 of the catalog, I have always been “smittened” by the card that is on this page…so this is where the inspiration came from!
I would love to help you earn this stamp set with some hostess dollars…please email me and we can come up with a cyber gathering and I will provide you a hostess code, some inspiration and you will be smiling!
This is a great example of how you can see a card…then look at what you have to work with and then make some changes “here and there” and PRESTO – you did it! I wanted to work with the DSP from the Flashback Collection so I knew that I needed to use Very Vanilla as my neutral!
Let’s get going…I hope that you can see that just about every project I make uses the Big Shot and with that said, remember that the opportunity to take advantage of the Big Shot deal is coming to an end! It is the keeper of all keepers when it comes to card making
- The base is a regular A-2 card size; 4 ½” X 5 ½”. I did cut another piece of very vanilla to this same size and ran it through the Big Shot with the Wood Grain Embossing Folder and then mounted it to the front of the card. (I felt that this made it studier as this embossing folder really gives you a super deep impression!)
- Going into the scrap pile…(I love using up scraps) the front piece is 3 ½” X 4” and then the DSP Strip is 1” X 3 ½”…you can see it coming together!
- The sun was stamped with crushed curry, I love the tone on tone effect it gives and then the adorable sentiment is stamped in soft suede…same with the bird on real red card stock.
- The sentiment was a cinch to cut out as it coordinates with the Word Bubble Framelits and then I did “fussy cut” the sun and the bird!
TIP ALERT: One thing I have learned about fussy cutting…JUST GO FOR IT and don’t get stressed! The sun was a piece of cake and I thought about “double stamping it” like they did in the catalog and then I knew that that would take too much time…I think my little red bird looks “just fine”
- Putting it all together the “green glue” is the key adhesive to use. WHY? Having that “wiggle time” to get the sun and the little bird just where you want it makes life easy! Stampin Dimensionals behind both the base card and the sentiment made the card pop!
- The neutral button with the linen thread was the perfect touch for extra dimension! To make the loops behind the button I simply took a couple of mini glue dots and used them as my anchor and then pressed the button on…again – easy!
- Envelope time…again easy – just ran my snail around the edge of the envelope…place a piece of the DSP and cut the excess off – DONE!
Wouldn’t this card make you happy to receive it? I smiled so much after I made it and I can see that I will be using this layout over and over again! Look at the layout of this card…this is what I refer to as a “keeper”! Just change up the stamps and colors and presto – a totally different card!
I know that there is so much going on with Stampin’ Up! right now with the Big Shot deal and then the
Short and Sweet opportunity…wow – so much to take in but I will say – we all know that our products are the best on the market so why not take advantage and have fun! You truly have nothing to lose.
Please feel free to email me, I have limited access this week but I will be trying to check emails daily! Being that it is Tuesday…remember – weekly deals!!! – Click here to see the offerings this week!
