How many times have you gone through the catalog???
If you are like me, I would say a ca-zillion! Sometimes I am waiting to hear John say…"Don't you know you know that catalog back and forth by now?" Well, I have a confession…I thought that these Kraft Grid Journals were…well I am being nice…not one of my favorites!
TIP ALERT – I am just adding this to the post as I have received many emails about the embossing. YES – you can emboss it with any of or embossing folders but you have to do each side at a time. When you "crank it through", you will feel where you have to stop because of the thickness…I have the tab open just like I would normally emboss! Please try it and let me know if you need help!
On my last order I purchased some as I thought I could do something fun for Breast Cancer. As we know October is a big month for Breast Cancer and I thought perhaps I could come up with something for an event I am helping with! (Jeanie and Sister Corda have made 150 teapots)…amazing – right!?!? ( I told you she is talented)
Well…what do you think? I am having so much fun making these…the ideas are endless as to what you could decorate the front! Look at your products that you have and I am sure that you will make a wonderful creation!
First, you need these gems…..so how about clicking here and get started! They come (2) in a package for $4.95 so you can see what a sweet and thought gift to give to someone!
Everyone can use paper to write notes on….thoughts….inspirations….and the holiday one – I thought that would be PERFECT to write down your holiday purchases you have made and need!
As I have posted before…I am not a "feather fan" but this is the 2nd post I have used them and my mind has changed! They truly are great "fillers" and I like the fact that you can use the bone folder to give them a slight curve for movement.
The feathers are from the Four Feathers Stamp Set (oops, I forgot to put it in the list at the end of the post)
The other star of this journal is the Chalk Talk and the matching framelit BUT the real woot-woot to these journals are the fact that you can take an embossing folder and run it through the big shot! On this one I used my "old faithful" Large Polka Dots.
Let's move onto this next little gem…I was sooooo happy with this one! There was no one at the house except the dogs and dear Daisey-Mae…and they did not seem to feel the excitment I was!
I just think that this is not only adorable, but it is so darn tootin' practical. This will slip right into your pocketbook…the glove box in your card….it is just so useful and I feel bad that I never paid attention to it before!
Do you see different sizes of trees? Please pop back on Sunday and I will have 2 different cards for you that will make you want that stamp set and punch even more! I used the Tiny Triangles Embossing Folder for this gem!
You can see that I used many products to jazz these journals up but that is the beauty of them…use what you have…think out of the box…or email me and I will be happy to give you some ideas with a stamp set you would like to work with!
It is always great to have little gifts like these "ready to go" when you need something quick. This wuld also be great to jot a recipe down and give it with the goodie you made!
Many thanks for your time this morning! I hope you enjoy a great cup of coffee with me and I hope that you are inspired! I know that you have a ton of choices with so many amazing Stampin' Up! Demonstrators, but please know if you are not currently working with someone, I would be honored to help you!
Tomorrow is the fun post that I am going back to the "hamburger box"…it really is a fun product that is not only on sale this week but it is another product that we have that has so many uses!
Enjoy the day…we are "dog sitting" for the weekend the wonderful gal that helps us with our dogs when we go away. It will be great to have 5 dogs again. I still miss Murphy…he was a good boy but I know he is at right where he needs to be….(hopefully he is playing with Lucy!)
Until tomorrow!
I love what you did with these journals. I am a journal person so these were on my first order from the annual catty. So glad you gave them a try!
Super cute! How did you emboss the front?
I love the different sizes of trees! I want that set! Not sure when I can order, not that I’ll get the stuff for this Christmas anyway.
Have fun with your extra dog!
Cyberhugs!
I’ve been through the catalogue a cazillion times also and I’ve never even noticed these. Thanks for getting me to take a closer look.
Love these! Cute stocking stuffers! Thanks for the great idea!
These are wonderful! I have pinned several of these, but I like yours the BEST! How did you emboss the cover? I’d love to know:-). Thank you!
I love your ideas on these journals. I too would like to know how this fits in the big shot.
Yes, how DID you emboss the front? Surely the whole journal doesn’t go through the Big Shot??? I love them and have journal lovers in my family. Great stocking stuffer! Thanks, Susan!
Hi Mary Anne and thanks for the comment – I just added a tip at the top of the post…..it is a popular question! Please try this!!!
loved the journals, how did you do the strip running down the binding edge on the feather journal, did you sew it? It was hard to see on the picture, loved it , it gave it an aged look.
So glad that I am not the only one!
I just added the tip at the top…..you have to do one side at a time and it works great!
1st….your comment gave me a HUGE smile as I am clueless about sewing…I had to go look at the journal myself to answer you! That is the way it come….too cute!
These are adorable Susan. I never thought to emboss them. Love how you decorated them.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Susan, I am a fellow Demonstrator. I fell in love with these journals at convention this summer! They had a breakout session featuring them and all the possibilities to decorate them!! The young lady who was leading the session works for the design team at the Home Office, and she is constantly challenged to think “outside the box” and use them in different ways. What she did was to remove that sewn binding. Next, she cut the journal exactly in half so she had two smaller books. Then, she used the Project Life corner rounder to round the now-square corners on two of the corners so they all matched, re-sewed the binding, and decorated away!!! I’m willing to bet she sewed it by hand, following the existing holes… if it were me, I’d use the Baker’s Twine in a coordinating color. I would think that if you removed the binding the possibilities would be endless for embossing front AND back!!! I’m thinking these would fit beautifully with a Christmas project I’m plotting out for my co-workers… Thanks SO much for giving them a try, and sharing your creations with us!!!
Hey Susan, they are on my next order. I have two sisters . . . I see some little gifts in their future. I think the embossing makes them so different.
🙂
I saw them in the catalog which is pretty amazing for me because I seemed to have missed a lot! Then again, I have only gone through the catalog tens of times! I think we need to have a photo of how you did the EF with the cover – just to clarify it. I read your tip but still am a little bit anxious to try it. Has anyone ever broken their Big Shot? I like both but the trees bring up a lot of ideas for me to work on: Sample XMAS cards or winter themed ones, shopping lists, the card or cards you sent and the mailing list, all kinds of tips on decorations and wrapping, menus, recipes etc. I just had a laugh – I just noticed how great the tiny triangles look with the triangle trees! I wish they were cheaper so we could make a large quantity for gifts and such! I vet your beloved mailperson or brown uniformed guy would love one! I would love to see more ideas on this line too.
O.k. I need to know about these teapots that Jeanie and Sister Corda made!
You’ve got me curious about the two different sized trees now. I love those grid journals. I have no idea what I’d do with one though… I love the decorating you’ve done with them here.
