Wow….what a busy but exciting week! When Thursday rolls around we all know that it's time for another PPA Challenge and this week it is a color challenge! Here are the colors that we are playing with and I encourage you to hop on over to the PPA Website and see what others came up with!
I have to admit that I was scratching my head on this one! I do not use Calypso Coral a bunch and it seems like I use Soft Suede a bunch so this was a challenge! I have been seeing on the PALS private gallery many people using the "Baby Wipe" technique so I thought what the heck – I'll give it a try!
I think that you will be able to follow my instructions just fine but if you want to see (2) videos that I think are particularly great please click here to see one from my friend Patsy Waggoner and here to see one from the talented Sandi Maclver (She is using the wreath that I show today)
The BEST tips I can give you is…
- Use one of our clear boxes so the baby wipe stays in place and you have less of a chance in getting yourself all "inky"….
- Really…..really have NO white space…really ink it up and you will see what I mean in the below pictures…
- Start with your lightest color of ink 1st as the darker the color…the more it will take over
- HAVE FUN!!! This really is a fun thing to play around with and it makes you feel like you are greating a Picasso!
I bet many of you are looking at these pictures and saying…NO WAY – THIS LOOK LIKE A HUGE MESS! Well it is not at all as after you are done…simply toss away the baby wipes and dry out the box for the next time!
Here again is the end result! I first tried it with the Early Espresso in the mix but it was too over powering so I re-did it any used the Old Olive! The stamp Set is from the bundle Wonderous Wreath and it is a blue ribbon winner in the Holiday Catalog! I adore it!!!
The "berries" I did in the Early Espresso and this makes it so easy as at the bottom of the wreath stamps, there is a tab that will help you know how to match it up perfectly with the coordinating framelit!
Can you see the scored border? I love to do this to add interest and I find using the Simply Scored Tool leaves a deeper impression than the Stampin' Trimmer….(just a personal preference).
The over all size of this card is a 4 1/2" Square and then each size down is a 1/4". There is no envelope today as this card is being tucked under a loaf of Pumpkin Bread for a friend! To me, it is a great festive Fall card!
Did you notice something that I did that I usually do not do? I DID A BOW! I was doing the happy dance as I thought that it turned out great! The seam binding ribbon is an easy one to work with and now that we have so many colors offered….it's a keeper in my books!
I found that using the glue dots were the best way to anchor down both the bow and the wooden elements! I took the Old Olive (medium color) blendabilities to color the wooden leaf! It's a bit fussy for me but I must say, I really liked the end result!
I am very happy that you are "feelin' the love" with the Stampin' Up Stamp, Stock and Save sale…but remember that it is only good until the 6th! I placed an order today as I cannot pass up a great deal on basics that I use all the time!
Speaking of time…..thank YOU for taking your time in popping by today! Please pop back tomorrow and I think that I have a classic yet super simple card that will make you smile!
Until tomorrw!

Such a beautiful card! Once again, you have used something I didn’t care about when I saw it in the catalog, but now I’m interested in it. This time it is the wooden leaves! I love the fall wreath!
Can you use the same inked baby wipe more than once? I don’t mean later, I mean make more than one wreath, for instance.
Have a nice Thursday!
Cyberhugs!
Hello my friend – how is the weather in France?
I am glad that you like the card and YES….you can make a bunch from the “inked up baby wipes” It actually is addictive so get lots of paper out and have fun stampin’
One tip…if you are stamping many, you might want to clean your stamp after doing several….I and then go bask to it!
Have fun, no doubt that you are going to create some beauties!
Gorgeous!!!
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL Susan!!! Can’t wait to try this technique!!!! Thanks for sharing!!

Oh so very pretty and delicate for autumnal colours make this beautiful. I really must try this technique. Thanks for all your inspiration Susan.
Susan, how do you photograph your work? It always looks PERFECT! You can really clearly see all the details!
Hello Pam….you made my day as I do try to strive to get good photos so you all can see the details and duplicate them!
I use my I Phone to take my pictures and also use Pic Monkey if I need to edit or enhance!
Please do….it is one of those things that it is just too much fun!
Absolutely beautiful!
Susan, I really like your scored border. It adds so much to any card. Thanks for using it again and giving us the 1/4″ mark.
Susan my friend, you have created SUCH a work of art! I just can’t stop looking at it!! So pretty! You should move to California 🙂
How pretty …okay I have to get this wreath bundle ! I do not need it ,but I want it now for sure ! I like it for Spring cards too . And I have not done the baby wipe adventure in awhile …so that is on my weekend list of fun stuff to do .
Such a fun blog today ! Thank you !
You rock…..period!
Lovely Susan! Thank you for refreshing our minds to this great technique, the wreath turned out beautiful!
Love the soft colors in the wreath, Susan! Seems like this has been the technique to do over the last couple of weeks!! Good job!
Fun! I would have never guessed you did that technique. I made a card once doing the same at a card class. We made the cutest little leaves. So, I know this is doable. But, I would go with the disclaimer – “Results may vary!” My little leaves turned out the best of the class as others ended up muddying theirs. This really looks good with this set and those wood pieces really add to the whole design! Love it!
Such a soft and pretty card! I really wanted to try this but don’t have the reinkers! I love the effect.
Hi Susan! I love everything about your card! Those leaves are wonderful and so is your bow!
Thank you for sharing the “how to’s” to make this beautiful creation.
