Well…it happened…it snowed…it was pretty…and today it is to be 45 degrees….CRAZY – We had snow, sleet, rain…now it is to be warm today and then Tuesday 2 degrees…..CRAZY I say!
Today's card is a simple "stepped up" version of yesterday's card….please click here to see yesterday's post. I think that they both stay true to my style of being clean and simple – today's just has a bit more "bells and whistles"…
One thing that is great about being a PAL is that we have a gallery of inspiration at our finger tips and I saw a card that had (2) pieces of paper turned to the side like this from PAL Wendy….it was stunning so I wanted to give it a spin!
I still stayed with the note card size and basically the same coloring tools etc…but I "tipped" the ends of the tulips with a bit of "blush" blendabilities markers and then blended in with the daffodil delight.
One thing I have learned about these markers is simple – THERE ARE NO RULES….I truly have no idea what I am doing but I am having fun and that's the name of the game. They just are so darn fun to work with as there are no lines! It is the best learning "playtime" one could have!
The other change I did was us a smaller piece of Whisper White to stamp the image on (2 1/4" X 4 1/4") and then the mats of the Lullaby DSP and Wild Wasabii was a "smidge" larger (2 1/2" X 4 1/4")
Did you notice a new focal point to the flowers? I stamped the stamp (well I just inked up a bit to save the DSP) and then I did a quick fussy cut and then wrapped some linen thread around it and POPPED it up!
Something that I have not done for months…paper piercing…having to dust it off the shelf – I did a quick paper piercing…how could I forget something so simple yet so effective and fun.
The envelope love came from a partial stamp of the tulip image and a quick color. REMEMBER -place a piece of scrap paper in the envelope before you use your blendabilities so it will not bleed through.
The other thing I did with the back flap of the envelope was to "2 tone" the flap by starting with a 1/4" strip of Wild Wasabi and then added the DSP….snipped around the outside of the envelope and DONE!
I hope that these 2 posts inspired you and also showed you that they both are just fine…there are simply times that we do not have a bunch of time and that is just fine…but then there are times that you just want to add a "bit more" –

WOW Susan! You have out done yourself with this card. Yesterday’s card was very pretty but the fussy cut and the 3-dimensional look makes it something very special. And you’ve made it in Green Bay Packer colors! Thanks for the gorgeous reminder that spring will be here – someday.
Mary, this card is fabulous !!!! Loved how you changed it up a bit. I have started using the Blendabilities some. Got them free, so I thought I would try them. Still not to sure about them.
Yes, we got hammered in Delaware with the snow, and freezing rain and our driveway is a solid sheet of ice. Waiting for SPRING !!!!
LOVE this card and will be casing it for sure!!!! Thanks for including the measurements!!
This is SO neat! I loved your card yesterday, but this one, WOW! It is a definite “stepped up” style! LOVE IT! Thanks for your inspiration … I just received this stamp on Friday, so when I saw your card yesterday, well … I just got inspired! Will have to get my supplies out and give this a try! THANK YOU!!! Stay warm and safe!
This is absolutely GORGEOUS – I was in love with yesterday’s version but this is truly OVER THE TOP AWESOME!
Gosh Susan, both cards are classy and beautiful. On today’s card, however, you really stepped it up by adding the slanted layering, the paper piercing and that fuzzy cut newspaper holding this beautiful bunch of Tulips. Thank you for sharing.
Wowzer, Susan! What a great spin on yesterday’s card. Love, love, love it!
Love your “2 day posts”! Both cards are fantastic! I am relatively new to your blog and have been enjoying it. I really like your idea of lining the envelope, however, I need to practice more – it is quite tricky.
Thank you.
Love the card and really love the two day posting!
I really like the two day posts, it’s great to see the two versions. I like them both – I can’t pick a favourite!
Your generous gift of 2 postings for a basic concept is FABULOUS! Please continue! Love both cards this week and as always, your envelopes make it all over-the-top special. Thanks for the inspiration.
Love this look! Fresh colors and the popped up newspaper base make this card sing. I’m especially liking the skewed background pieces. I’ve seen this before and with your inspiration I’m going to give it a try. Thanks!!
Wow, the difference is amazing with just a few changes! I love both but those two layers of paper just really make it pop! Love the linen thread wrapped around the tulips. I had to giggle though, the yellowish tinge to the paper made me think Teddy has been around and peed on it! I would have left it look like a newspaper color! Sorry, I just had to throw that is! Wow what a change in the envelope too! Speaking if you know what, I think he wants to go out!
Susan, WOW what a beautiful card. I loved yesterdays card. This card today is so beautiful. I love every detail of this card. I love the two colors slanted behind the flowers. They really catch your eye. Your popped up flowers. the linen thread is adorable. I love the paper piercing. I forgot to do that. It adds so much. to your card. I love the envelope. I bet your mailman gets a kick out of your mail. He or she must always get a smile on their face when they see your mail. Stay warm and have a good day. hugs, Ellen Hinds
