Wowzers…was it fun to sit down last night and read all of the comments that you all left yesterday! There are sooooo many great ideas and it really made me thing of more things that I am hoping for – I will share with you some of them after I whip through this super cute card!
Today is a very special day for a co-worker to my wonderful husband. One of the founding partners of his firm is retiring today. His name is Art and he has been such an amazing mentor and an inspiration to John as he has grown his business.
He has said for years….this is my last Tax Season and sure enough he still comes back but now he has set the date (today) and John is planning a special celebration for him. (Trust me, they both will be in tears when he hears the words that John is saying)
I told you that I love BIG stamp sets…and this is a true blue keeper in my eyes and darn, I sure hope it is carried over in the new catalog! It is appropriately called Big On You. I knew that this would be PERFECT for a card for Art as it truly is his day!
You can see that this card came together in a snap and uses minimal products! It has been a while since I have used Sahara Sand and this is perfect with the Adventure Abound DSP Stack.
I really wanted to use a framelit to POP the sentiment out and the largest square scalloped Framelit was perfect for it! This is something that I do not use often as truthfully I forget about it.
Did you notice something that I rarely do? I sponged the edges with Mossy Meadow to help off set the sentiment against the DSP. It was the perfect "little something" that I needed. I also "doubled up" the dimensionals to really make it pop.
I was very happy with the end result as this is perfect for Art and I know that John's written words in this card will mean a lot to him. Art is a wonderful man, a great father and husband but now it is time for him to enjoy life!
Today's card is a "less is best" card and I hope that you enjoyed it! I just adore an over-sized card, there is something special about holding a BIG card in your hand.
Now let's get to great ideas of wishing….(remember when you see this post today I have yet to see the new catalog) so as I type this I am still "Writing a list for Santa"
- Stitched framelits would be fabulous
- Stampin' Spots is a great idea
- New designs in the DSP stacks but please keep polka dots
- Sticky Strip will have a new friend….(stampin' up! would not let us down)
- INSIDE SENTIMENTS – yes…we need them!!!!
- Lime Green…YES – I loved that comment as I just adore Black, White and Lime Green together!
- More Masculine Stamps!
Well my friends, time will tell….so please leave more comments of your wishes…ideas or a simple tip and tomorrow I will announce the winner of the paper swatches of all of the new papers from the new catalog!
I think that it is very evident that we all enjoy reading each other comments – this is what I adore about blogging….we can express ourselves and learn from each other!
I know that we are all excited about the new catalog and guess what – I would love for you to be on this fun journey with me! Do you realize that you can get your started kit with NEW pre-order items from the new catalog? Starting on Tuesday you can do this!
Just think….you can pick $125.00 worth of product and pay just $99.00 and get to order new goodies early before the unveiling to the world on June 2nd.Please feel free to email me and I would love to talk with you…it's a FUN journey and one that I adore…it would be fun to be in this together (and I know you would love being a PAL)
The best thing is that there truly are no commitments to stay…you already know that you love our products, so why not have a double win-win for yourself…getting the new products at a discount and doing something for you.(Consider this an early Mothers Day gift for yourself)
Have a great day and until tomorrow!

I also hope they introduce stitched framelits! I’ve seen some of the new products and the new In Colors online now and you are correct, SU! will not let us down. I can’t wait to see the new catty! 🙂
Oops, with all the new catalog excitement, I forgot to say that Art will love his retirement card! The sponging on the corners does add great detail…I’m generally in too big a hurry to do it! My father-In-Law just retired a few weeks back and I used the same sentiment for his card. I hope they have more sets like coming for the new year. Have a great day!
Lime green – YES and Stampin’ Spots would also be fab!
I wish they would continue with the velum and embossed DSp. Loved those products
Great card for Art. I like the Sahara Sand and the big stamp. Oh Stitch framelits would be wonderful. Good idea too.
🙂
I love my matching flower stamps and framelits – would love to see more images/shapes in matching sets!
Yes, stitched framelits would be wonderful!! How about a new set of leaves with matching dies as they retired the Bigz die!
Susan, I do hope the new catty has some really awesome stamps for teen boys, I have a grandson that will turn 15 in September and, as he has gotten older, it’s more difficult to make a card for him, he is waaaay over cute little animals, LOL!!
I also would love to see some Patriotic images, like I said yesterday, some elegant and beautiful Stars and Stripes or Bald Eagles, some fire works, etc.
Maybe some day the SU designers should have like a survey of all of us SU customers through our own demonstrators, to see what products we would like to see offered in the catalogs. Just a thought. 😉
I’m sorry I forgot to say that your card is really beautifully simple and elegant, love the colors and that big sentiment just says it all.
Thank you for sharing.
That really is a great card – I’ve got the square framelits and I don’t believe I’ve ever used the scalloped one. I think you’ve inspired me to change that!
I’m looking forward to replacements for the retiring framelits.
Stampin Up has increased the embellishments more and more and I look forward to seeing what new ones are in store!
I really hope that SU continues with the Chalkboard Paper and Chalk based ink pads too!
Love your card…the sponging looks great and adds depth especially on the same color paper. Congrats to Art…sounds like a wonderful mentor and friend! Stitched framelits would be awesome as well as a Lime Green color! Oh, the possibilities!
Oh, I love this card and I hope it is also my day too! I have a phone pre-interview in a few minutes. I am sure Art will cherish this card that you created and John wrote in. It is simply so special. Ii love the simplicity and the sponging and the colors are totally me! Super well done!
More (and not so cheesy!) masculine stamps….some great framelits to replace the ones that retired
some Bokah DSP would be great!
Please continue the irresistbly yours dsp! It is so elegant & easy to work with!
Nice card! I used those same two colors on my challenge card (even though I didn’t email it in on time).
I like other people’s suggestion of stitched-edged framelits. Those are very popular right now, and I think they are attractive. I saw the new colors on someone’s blog who is at the convention in Australia. They look very interesting! I saw a bright green and a mint green, a pinkish color in the general direction of Strawberry Slush, a brighter yellow (brighter than Hello Honey), and a blue. I look forward to seeing them for real!
Cyberhugs!
I would like to see more embellishments for all the different colors especially the in colors! Love your card, I don’t have any large stamps maybe I need some ???
This card sends a message in a BIG way….love it! Perfect for a happy/ bittersweet occasion. Since I’ve seen the catalog already, I will just say that it certainly did not disappoint….it’s fantastic!
Lime green would be great! Also, a certain shade of burnt orange, which I know when I see but cannot describe.
I agree with the stitched dies in rectangles, squares and circles and inside sentiments. Great card.
All the ideas you listed above are great! Some of them I didn’t even know I wanted until I read the list! Ha! I can’t wait for the new catalog previews to start!
I would like to see the stampin spots brought back 🙂 I can’t wait to see the new In Colors. I hadn’t thought about stitched dies now that i’ve heard of them that would be a great idea!
HI Susan:
I agree with others, stitched framelits would be great. I am looking forward to seeing the “new” colors. I like the greens, pinks/reds. More black & white DSP, or Red & white DSP. Have a BFF who always makes Red/White or Black/White cards.
Love the card for Art. He will truly treasure this card &, of course, the note from John.
Have a great weekend.
I wish they would have all the write markers available for individual purchase.
Great card Susan! I like the big bold sentiment! Yes, I haven’t used the scallop part of this framelit either. Shame on me!
Stitched framelits…dream come true!! Fingers crossed for that one on my list. ; )
Please share something from your day peeking, we’re dying to know all about the new catty!!
Ooo yes , stampin spots coming back would be awesome!
