Here you go….basically the same card from yesterday but I stepped it up a bit here and there. I must admit, I get a bit worried that you will be disappointed and look at it an say – "It looks the same" but trust me, when you have them side by side, you can see the difference even though it is so subtle.
Below you will see a collage picture of them side by side with some comments. Please click on the picture to see it larger and I think it will help you.
Underneath I will share with you some tips of what I did! I am so happy that many of you enjoyed this card…this really is a wonderful stamp set and you can see the effectiveness of stamping tone on tone…just wonderful!
As I shared yesterday, key players for this card are…green glue, silicone craft sheet and craft scissors. It is great that as you work, if you get excess glue…no big deal as the silicone mat to the rescue and the craft scissors make it a dream to cut off the excess!
Here are the change ups today:
- I cut the black piece 1/4" smaller to let some white peak out.
- I added the white gel pen dots to the solid green flower in the back.
- After putting stampin' dimensionals to the back of the flower and the sentiment, I added some white bakers twine – this is so easy and it certainly adds a fun and fresh flair.
Let's touch on the banner, I had some emails about it. It is a 1" strip of paper and I used the NEW punch that cuts (3) different banners in a simple punch. It is a must have speed tool when the new catalog comes out.
Sure we can easily make our own cuts for a banner but this is a dream punch – a true time saver and then I added the dots with the Cucumber pen – easy-peasy!
One FUN card full of color and just think if the endless color combinations you can use! No rules….just have fun! Please remember that tomorrow will be your last day to take advantage of getting the hexagon punch at 25% off.
Thanks for popping in and I hope that you are having as fun of a weekend as I am.It is wonderful to see Hannah so happy with her school and her friends!
I do invite you to consider taking a test drive with me and Stampin' Up! The Pals are fun and inspiring, I think that I am fun as well and you have nothing to lose….please feel free to email me and I will be happy to answer any questions you might have!
I hope to see you tomorrow….
I think the smaller black background makes such a difference, now having the card itself border around the matted design. I like it a lot and think it is a big difference!
The differences between the 2 cards may be subtle but side by side the WOW is perfectly evident. You are such an inspiration–your posts are the first thing I look at every Saturday and Sunday. Thanks for sharing your creativity
Subtle changes but WOW! What a difference it makes. I like the border and the fru-fru….they give it that extra “umph!” Enjoy the day with your daughter, Susan.
Well Susan, you did it again. Yesterday’s card was beautiful and I was just wondering what you would or could do to make it better and, well…..here you are, with this lovely, improved version of a beautiful card. Some changes are small and almost undetectable, like the little white gel pen dots on the back of the flower, others are very noticeable, like the sweet Baker’s Twine loops.
Both cards are lovely, thank you for sharing and have a beautiful day with your daughter.
I must agree with each and every comment this morning . The subtle additions are inspirational . I love details added to a card that catch your eye ,but this was almost like one of those side by side pictures where they ask you to list the differences . And …your differences are so creative ! Love Love Love it !!
I find these STEP IT UP segments so interesting. Sometimes when I try it, I am much happier BEFORE I step it up. It is easy to go too far (especially when I have so much “stuff” available to play with). You, on the other hand, seem to make changes that are just perfect. I hope to learn from you just how to do this without overdoing it. Thanks
tonilea
Gorgeous!! As others have said, the changes are subtle but I think they made a huge impact. The colors are magnificent. Please don’t spend even one second worrying that we wouldn’t like any of the card versions. You are an amazingly talented, humble teacher…I think Caleb just summed it up best…you are a Rock Star of the Internet!
Beautiful Susan!
Tonilea said it perfectly! Right away I noticed the white mat and thought ummmm, I loved it without the mat but I think I like the white mat around it more. Of course the looping twine is a fun touch. I thought you might mat the banner or something like that. I hardly noticed the green flower in the first one and then I didn’t even notice the dots on it on the second. But, when I read about it, it made me smile. So subtle and fun change. I must have been snoozing in yesterday’s post – I totally missed that the hexagon stamp made the dots on those shapes! Of course one ornery Ted could have demanded my attention – now, he just ripped part of my slipper apart that was up in the middle of the bed. He managed to pull the comforter off enough so he could snatch it. Do you think you could make a stepped up version of Ted that wouldn’t be so ornery? Have a safe trip home! Again, both cards are so bright and lively and would be fun to create, send and/or receive! Looking forward to playing with the new colors and seeing that new green,
Thank you so much for sharing both versions of your card! The small changes add up to a surprisingly big difference! Nice!
I hope you have a good week,
Cyberhugs!
Susan, Your card today is so beautiful. I was wondering how you were going to top yesterday’s post. The stepped up version is so slight. But the “WOW” impact is wonderful. I love the details of the stepped up version. You are amazing and very talented. Thank you Susan for letting us know it is little things that make a great impact. Thank you for sharing. Ellen Hinds
