Woot-woot….I just love a color challenge and today is a fun palette of colors with the Pals Paper Art and how about it – wanta play! Please go for it and if you need help uploading it, email me and I will be happy to help you through the process.
You can see that the color calls for our old faithful….so today I substituted the NEW in color, Watermelon Wonder. I used Very Vanilla as my neutral and I love the soft effect even with the boldness of the Watermelon.
While typing this post it made me realize that I forgot to announce who won the Monday Challenge….I will do that tomorrow and show you the adorable card she made. I think you all like having color challenges – I find them to be fun.
Guess where this idea came from…the best place to get fantastic ideas….the new catalog!!! (page 105). I often get my inspiration for many of my card ideas from the catalog and I encourage you to give it a try.
I am thrilled that Stampin' Up! kept this fantastic Stamp Set, Six Sided Sampler. I used it several weeks ago and you all seemed to enjoy it, I hope that this one makes you inspired as well. Do you see…it is a bundle – here comes another WOOT-WOOT….that means you instantly save 15%!
Let's get to it – this is a "Susan Card"…when I say that, to me it is a representation of the style of cards that I like to make…super clean, super simple yet classic! This would be an easy card to make a bunch of and leave off the sentiment until you know what you need!
Confession time…(I always share with you when I have made a mistake)…when the stamp set Georgous Grunge came out…I clearly that it was the worst stamp set in the whole wide world….
I remember being on a conference call with the PALS when it 1st came out and that was one of their favorites…(I did not get it!!!) but once I did not take it so "literally" and learned from other talented stampers…less is best – use it as an accent and this is what I did today!
I "stamped off" in the Soft Suede to make it a bit softer and I adore the look. I thought why not do the butterfly the same way…BINGO – it worked!
Here is a great tip, you can see that I adhered one hexagon down and the other 4 are popped up with Stampin' Vitamins,..I took the 4 that I popped up and used a piece of sticky strip to hold them tight together and then put the dimensionals on…this way it looks like a solid piece (hope this makes sense)
Lastly, the envelope…how perfect is this to do…use the honeycomb embossing folder to make the envelope smile – it made me smile, how about you?
With all of the focus on the New Catalog, please do not forget to check out the weekly deals – I love it when there are punches offered. You know I say they are SPEED TOOLS….that is key to making clean and simple cards!
I must say…I ADORE YOU ALL – I sat down before I went to count sheep and read your comments from yesterday's post…I think that it is wonderful that we all chime in and share…that's what it is all about and that's why I love what I do! Chris R. – you can make a smile happen to anyone…..LOVED your comment!

Woo Hoo…I am the first to post today. Probably because I have yet to make it to bed. (I am still laughing from reading Chris’ post from yesterday!) Love your Beautiful card with this color combo! 🙂
I totally need to CASE this card! I have been thinking about doing something like this with the Six-Sided Sampler set. I don’t have that butterfly framelit (it’s in a box in NC), but I have butterfly punches! It would make a cute baby card, too, with one of the images from the baby set with the framelits (also in a box in NC) in place of the butterfly. My problem is often that I have too many ideas and don’t know where to start! Really a great card! And, I completely agree with you on Gorgeous Grunge! I saw a video from a Stampin’ Up event where it was demonstrated. It was definitely a light bulb moment for me when I saw the difference it made!
Thanks for sharing your terrific card!
Cyberhugs!
OH MY GOSH….for those of you that read my comments…Jeanie is a dear friend and downline – she just starts ROCKIN’ in her AMAZING Stamp Room when I am going to bed!
We tease each other as she know I am usually up before the sun….just when she 1s going to bed!
Good Morning! I must say, I smiled at the end result of this card. In general – I am not a “butterfly” person but I might be changing my thoughts…kinda like the gorgeous grunge….
So glad you liked it….now get on a plane and come home to North Carolina and get your poor butterfly out of the box…
Hugs my friend…
Wow Susan . . . rocking already this morning! I thought Jeannie was very funny!!! I too am an early morning person. Loved all the chatter about paper storage yesterday, it was great. Love this card, but not too fond of those colors. I’ll do my best to join in this week.
🙂
Good Morning! I know that you will create something amazing…you always do! Have a great day!
I love how you carried the hexagon pattern to the envelope flap. Sweet splatters of ink on the butterfly!
A beautiful Susan card for sure! Simple beauty at its finest!
I am glad I made a few people smile with my comments!
For this card, I simply love it! We used that set at card club last week and we made sort of a yucky card out with it. You bet I am going to try and pry off the hexagons and lay them out like this! It works so well like this and not the dumb flower shape we did. I do have the punch so I can make my own for the ones I accidently rip but I am not sure I have the stamps for it. Whatever my attempt to CASE this beauty will be worth it! I use butterflies now and then but they aren’t totally me. I think the grunge stamps are more me! But the butterfly on here balances out with the sentiment and love the dots on it. Of course I do like the colors you used even if they were the challenge colors. The idea of popping up four of them is just pure genius with the one grounded holding the sentiment! It creates just the right amount of textural interest! The hexagon pattern on the envelope is just icing on the cake!
If I had a color printer and loads of time (need to seriously work on organizing more) I could create a “Simply Susan’s Caseables” book and have the photo and highlight all these great tips! Some of these little ideas make such a big difference! Thank you Susan!
O.k. gang, I just added a bunch to yesterdays post including how I store my sponge daubers and ink refill bottles. Hey, I am totally hopeless!
I loved your post yesterday! Will have read the add-ones you wrote about today.
Gorgeous card. Love the colors and also love your idea of using sticky strip on the 3 hexagons to make them a solid unit. I was also a non-lover of Gorgeous Grundge when it first came out, but I admit I like it (and own it) now. Your signature triple dots fit perfectly with it! I just got back from Caleb’s end of the school year program. So proud of my kiddo and all the other kids; the curriculum is so much more advanced than when I was in first grade! Have a wonderful day!
What a lovely card. I love your balance of color and elements.
Susan, I love this card with all it’s dots! I am definitely going to CASE! Thank you for sharing.
Susan, I love how you used those mosaics. Great way to use Gorgeous Grunge on the butterfly…I like that. Love your cards, clean and neat!
Great card today! Love how the hexagon punch has so many looks. Turned on it’s point as you’ve done looks so different than when you place it flat on its edge. Great colors too! I must also remember to use the spatter effect more often. Thanks for the inspiration!
Such a perfect combination! I need to use my grunge and hexagons more.
