Today is all about color so here is a personal challenge for you…pull out a magazine…go to a website and look for a fun and different color combination and then put your creative hat on and have fun. My inspiration for my fun is a quick thank you that came from the Boden Website.
When I looked at the blouse I saw, Night of Navy, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Tempting Turquoise and Smokey Slate. The inspiration for the layout came from Stampin' School but I made some changes to keep it super simple.
This is a new embossing folder that makes a great statement. It is called Elegant Dots Embossing Folder (sorry, I put the wrong one in the scrolling store) That Jeanie, she is always right – YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH EMBOSSING FOLDERS!
The card is a simple 5" square and then the Smoky Slate mat is a 4 3/4" square. The scraps are all 3" X 1 1/2" and then I ran them through the big shot for the embossing!
I love this above picture, it really shows off the details in the embossing folder. I have not heat embossed lately so I thought today is the day! The stamp is from the Hostess Stamp, A Whole Lot of Lovely.
The little flower and the white gel pen touches add the extra special yet simple flair. I could not be without this pen. It is a "secret and necessary weapon"...also the dimensionals – the POP always makes the statement.
Making the envelope was a cinch with the envelope punch board, (oops, I forgot that in the scrolling store as well) -In the below picture you will read how I lined the envelope….it really is easy – give it a whirl….and please feel free to email me if you have any questions!
The end result…one fun, bold card that carries a big statement. I hope that you look around your house, magazines, the Internet and find something that intrigues you…it is always amazing at how it does all come together!
I hope that this "Kick Started" your week…I am sure that the weekly die-hards…aka (Sharon, Karen & Robyn – I call them my 3 Monday Musketeers) will be up for the challenge and I hope that you will too!
Email me your pictures and I will share with everyone on Wednesday how was the pick of the week…..along with a "Parade of AMAZING cards" that I have received…thank you-thank you! It means more to me than you know…
Now make sure you go to bed early and if you can….be an early worm as the clearance rack it to be stocked tomorrow and there is something extra special going on with the Tuesday deals…(I think that there are going to be some extra special ones…at a limited quantity until they go back to regular price).
Until tomorrow….

This card has to be one of my all-time faves and it is GORGEOUS! Thank you so much for posting it, Susan and I cannot wait to try this. Absolutely STUNNING and yes, I ADORE the colors!
LOVE, love, love those colors together!!! I don’t think I’ve seen that combo before. Fabulous card.
Great colors together and the simple layout shows off not only the colors but the beautiful embossing! Very nice!
Wow Susan, this card is outstanding! I love your color combo, especially for Summer, and the embossed details. Thanks for sharing the measurements too, I’d love to give this one a try. Can you believe this…I’ve never made a square sized card! Now I have no excuses so thanks for the inspiration today!
This is cute and I like the two color circle mat behind the greeting . I like to make cards like this with various sizes and colors of card stock ….it can go on forever . This gets the creative juices bubbling . Fun card !!
Almost like the blouse in colors – they had more white but you nailed it! Love the matting in the center. I had not seen that EF and it is sort of fun! I might have to try this sometime. My creative juices are still in remission or I just have the blahs – I just want to crawl back in bed. looking forward to the parade of beauties. I am feeling a little blue too because I didn’t send you one.
Love the lay out. You always have such great ideas.
🙂
Fantastic card Susan! These colors are amazing together.
I was out shopping and saw Watermelon Wonder and Tip Top Taupe in the bedding department. IT was so funny that the first thing I thought of was to come home and put those colors together on a card. GO figure! I can’t wait til Wednesday to place my order for the new embossing folders. I think I am going to like the new dots!!
Gorgeous Card! The dual-colored circle is really neat. I wish I could come up with all the ideas you do! You are so talented. I think the Decorative Dots TEF is awesome and I can’t wait to order it on the 1st either!! I’ve got a big list of things to get, even though I haven’t had the chance to play with my first big order of goodies yet.
Really like the color combo and the use of the texture to add another circular element.
I’ve been working on the road so much that I’m just now catching up with your blog from the the last month. Sorry to hear that the ankle didn’t heal properly. Wishing you a complete recovery, and very happy for you that your “peep” is returning to your neighborhood.
Thank you for sharing your creativity, enthusiasm, and your caring spirit with your readers. You are an inspiration and a bright spot in my day.
