Good Morning and welcome to Simple Saturday, if you are NEW…WELCOME and if you are OLD….I love seeing you back! On the weekends I do a 2 day posting….Saturday it is a simple card and then Sunday it is the "Stepped up version" of the same card!
You know that I adore Single Stamps… and I fell "head over heels" with this one when I saw it in the catalog. WHY??? Easy-peasy…it is super simple and clean!
It only comes in Wood Mount and you really want this one to be a wood mount as it is a BIG stamp and I think that the wood makes it easier to hold. It is SUPER cute and wow, what an easy card.
Now before we go any further…I need you to trust me on this one – I think that you know by now I would not steer you wrong. Here are some points that I learned while making this.
- It TOTALLY works best if you heart emboss it, today I used very vanilla as the base and then the black embossing power….
- I did try it with the Memento (and the stamp-a-ma-jig) you know me, I need that wonderful piece of plastic….and it truly did not give me the coverage that I was happy with.
- PLAN B – I tried it with the Black Staz On (that poor stamp pad was mad at me as it has been months since I have used that)….and same thing – it was ok but not to my "type A" standards.
So the moral of the story is – heat emboss it! You know that WOW factor that happens when you heat emboss and I also think that the heat embossing makes a dramatic effect!
You know when you heat emboss you use the versamark pad….this image is so easy to "ink up" without inking the heart. I purposefully did not want the heart embossed as I wanted to pop a heart out using the itty bitty accents punches (now please tell me that you have these gems….they are a MUST HAVE).
Before I added the heart to the image, I turned over the embossed part and using the Simply Scored Tool, I scored all the way around….just love that effect.
The bring this sweet card to an end, the liner was from the Pretty Petals Paper Stack – another "keeper" from the new catalog…I love the fact that it works with Very Vanilla.
Many, many thanks for all of the comments yesterday and on Thursday…..last night, I sat in bed with that darn ice on my foot and went back to read the comments and add some to yours.
I apologize but we had a very special friend pass away on Thursday morning. Hannah is flying home today so even though it is at a sad time, as a family we are going to make it a joyous time! In our hearts, we know that our dear friend is at a better place as he has fought a hard battle with cancer.
Please feel free to email me and please remember to share my blog and love for stamping and teaching with your family and friends…I love what I do….and I do hope that you pop back tomorrow….I think you'll smile!
Cute card, Susan. I’m a big fan of heat embossing with it’s WOW factor. Can’t wait to see your stepped-up version tomorrow. So sorry about your friend. I’ll keep all of you in my prayers. I hope you are on the mend, too.
So sorry about your loss. Glad you know your dear friend is in a better place.
Beautiful card!
My heart goes out to you for your loss. I hope Hannah has a safe flight home. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I do love your card today. I bet the heat embossing looks stunning with this image! The scoring also adds a lot…it’s the little things, right? Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s post! Sending extra hugs today.
Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Enjoy your family this weekend. Good times and great memories, simple things in life are the best including your great card this morning.
I am so sorry for your loss, Susan. You and your family will enjoy the memories you shared with him. Your card is awesome and I love embossing! It does give it that special wow factor! Excitement is in the air to see what you do tomorrow! Sending prayers and hugs your way.
Dear Susan,I love your card, it is a really sweet card. I love the Wow Factor with the black embossing . I also am sorry for the death of your wonderful friend. My prayers are with all of you. I know as family and friends gather at a difficult time you all help each other. Remember all the good memories of this wonderful friend. I am waiting very patiently for your stepped up version. Have a great day,Ellen Hinds
Love the card and the heat embossing which I don’t do that often but it always pops the image out so I don’t know why I don’t do it. Sorry for your loss of your friend, indeed she has no more pain and is in a better place. Even though knowing that it is so hard to lose a dear friend. May God Bless You!!
Beautiful Susan! Love this simple stamp making a big dramatic statement! Can’t wait to see what you have to show us tomorrow!!
So sorry for your loss, thoughts and prayers to your family.
Celebrate the memories of your dear friend. Hugs and prayers for all those involved.
Fun card. I, too, am going to patiently wait for the stepped version! The scoring and embossing make this card really shine. I am looking for a tiny chicken to put on the bowl for chicken soup! There are fun things you could do with this like color the soup or piece it as well as the bowl. The fun gingham prints from the one new paper could make a fun table cloth for the bowl to sit on even. The Calypso Corral could dub as cream of tomato soup almost!
Remember to get adequate rest and keep that ankle on the mend you have a busy time coming up with the flight and convention!
Susan,
What a cute little card. I do like to use the embossing powder. It really adds depth to the stamped image.
Can’t wait to see the stepped up card on Sunday.
You must rest that ankle as your big trip will be coming up soon.
Simple but great! Although not so simple for you, having to try every which way to make it stamp well! Really nice!
So sorry for your loss. I hope Hannah’s flight goes well.
Sorry your ankle is still/again unhappy. I hope you will be fine at Convention!
Cyberhugs!
4 days!
I am so glad that there is someone else out there that loves the WOW of embossing. I can remember when I first learned this technique I was so darn excited to come home and play “show and tell”
Isn’t it great that we get so excited! Thanks for popping in!
Thank you , he is – I am so glad that he does not have to suffer, go through treatments etc….it is still hard as he was like my children’s “grandfather” – he never missed a game they played and I cannot tell you how our family will miss him.
Thanks Tricia….Hannah is home and it is wonderful to have her here. She needed to be here and there is nothing better and more important for family to be together.
Hugs my friend.
You’ve got that right….we are having a wonderful time as a family and remembering our dear friend.
I truly was so surprised that it really did not work out with the Memento and the Staz On – BINGO when I did the heat embossing….I will be making a bunch of these gems!
Thank you Ellen….we have had a great day being together as a family and remembering the fun times we had with Art. I hope that the version tomorrow make you smile!
You are exactly right, the embossing does make a POP….thanks for your sweet words….

I am sooo darn excited for convention – this will be my first and it will be a great time!
