Happy "HUMP" day….now this is my kind of card….clean and simple to the max. Just think of how you can use this for so many occasions….change up the color, you can change up the sentiment and PRESTO – a totally new card that will always bring a smile to your face!
I know that today is the PALS blog hop and I think that this is the 1st time I have missed the hop….I do hope that you pop on the hop trail and see what everyone created – with not having my computer over the weekend, I missed the confirmation but I think that you are going to like this post!
You know that I adore "Single Stamps" and this is a great example (Vivid Vases) of how great they are and you will see in the below picture how I "masked" off the sentiment that is on the stamp set and just used the floral part and then took another sentiment from a totally different stamp set (Sheltering Tree) and added that….
I like using the stamp-a-ma jig just so I can get it "just right" – and I think that this will give you a great idea with how to do this method.
While I have the ink on my stamp, I go ahead and stamp the DSP that I am going to be using. This is such an easy way to add a bit of bling without taking a bunch to time. Paper snips to the rescue and you can step up a card in a jif!
The over all card size is a 4" square card and then the stamped piece is 3 3/4" square. Can you see that the simplicity of this card is classic and the "peeps" of colors are just "spot on" – I used the blender pens to add the color….so fast and easy!
After I snipped out the vases, I used the green glue to adhere them to the stamped image of the vases. These are super easy to cut out – and I think that fun pop of color adds a ton.
Enjoy the pictures of different angles of this card – you can see how clean and simple it is and when you use the blender pens, simply squeeze the ink pads to get a bit of ink on the top of the ink pad and then dip the tip of the blender pen and have fun.
I adore the sentiment that is on the Vivid Vase Stamp but today I want to teach and share with you how easy it is to change things up a bit. The fonts on the sentiments in the Sheltering Tree are so sweet.
You what is left, the beloved envelope….the envelope punch board makes it a cinch to customize your own size. This wonderful tool is a must have and for just $20.00 – how can you go wrong in making so many different sizes of envelopes!
I think just about anyone would love to receive this card. What do you think? Please feel free to leave me a comment with your thoughts and also let me know if you need further help with this whole technique.
I adored your comments yesterday, I scanned through them before I typed this post. "Peep" Will is leaving early in the morning and once he is on the road, I am going to grab a cup of coffee and respond to your comments!
It feels great to be blogging….I have had a wonderful quick visit with Will and Hannah is driving back to Boston with him so they will have a fun sibling ride together! Until tomorrow – I hope that you enjoyed this card, it sure did make me smile!
Beautiful card and such a great idea using the DSP for accents! Love the font of the greeting too!
Safe travels to Boston for the peeps!
I was looking for a “thinking of you” sentiment yesterday and didn’t even think of the Sheltering Tree set…thanks!!!
LOVE everything about this card, Susan! And, yes, safe travels back to Boston for your kids!
That is a really good tip. What difference that makes.
Fabulous snipping for this vases, love the awesome designs on them. A beautiful and colorful card.
Wishing a safe and happy trip back to Boston for your children.
Maria.
What a great idea using DSP scraps! Love the color choices…so vibrant and fresh and, of course, love the square card. This card is “spot on” Ms. Susan!
Can’t wait to try this tip with the DSP. This is a favorite image of mine. Works so well with different sentiments like you have used here. Thanks Susan. Love your work.
I Love this simple card today, Susan! You are so right about the dp’s adding the bling that is needed and it’s so easy to use the blender pen, especially for little pieces like these flowers! Well done~
This is a sweet card. Love the simplicity and how you used the DSP scraps. Did you use your dimensional “vitamins” too? Fun card to make or receive.
I always forget about paper piecing. I love the look of it and it’s so simple. When using tape to mask, do you use s certain kind so that there’s no sticky residue left on the stamp?
I had to smile (insert my Betty Rubble giggle here) when I saw the card. I first thought you sat there making the dashes on the vases to mimic the DP! Then, the light bulb went on over my head – duh, you stamped the DP and cut them out. Of course I decided that when I saw the polka dot vases. I think I need some caffeine here or something! Fun card and fun to change the sentiments.
Talk about inky fingers – I went to the CTMH demo class last night and we did the Bo something or rather technique with the ink spots and blending etc. I have one blue finger nail, a turquoisish finger, and a thumb of another color from another card where I opened the ink pad and promptly got my thumb in the ink. What a mess but I think I had fun.
Loved the card. I have these stamps so I will give it a try! Thanks for the inspiration Susan!
Love the card!! The colors are bright and stunning. I have only done paper piecing once and I loved the end result (and it’s still my hubby’s favorite card I’ve made to date); not sure why I don’t think of doing it more often. Safe travels to Will and Hannah. Glad you were able to spend quality time with all your peeps!
A very fun card. Thanks for the tip about changing up the sentiment and snipping the DSP for the vases. I agree that anyone would love to receive this card. Safe travels for your kids.
Great simple and sweet card! Good tips and great pictures of how to get the effect. Thanks for such clear directions. Must try this idea soon!
I would never have thought to use DSP to “color” in the vases! You are so clever and bring a smile to my day, EVERY day. Thank you!
Absolutely love this card, especially with the paper piecing which I so often forget to do. Great job Susan!
I keep thinking I need this Vivid Vases set and I now I will get it. Love your card.
This is super cute! I love the way you used scraps for the vases. I need to give this a try.
I love this card. Loved the way you used the designer paper. I am definitely going to try this. Thanks for the idea.
Thanks Deb – I was happy with the card. I love a bunch of white space (well today is is vanilla)This is a super quick card to whip up! I adore waking up to your comments…you are an early bird!
I do than all of the time! I swear, one day I want to take out stamp sets and list the sentiments that we have so when I am looking for something… PRESTO – I have a reference!
Thanks for the sweet comment! They made it back safe and sound and Hannah is happy to see where her brother lives!
It is amazing how little things like this create a big difference!
These vases are easy-peasy to snip…we all know that some things are a pain in the drain to fussy cut but these are the best!
Yippee-Skippee….I am so glad that you like this! This technique works GREAT with small prints!Hugs my friend…
Hi Dorothy – please, please try this! I know that you will feel so proud of yourself in doing so – it is so easy yet so effective!
Why in the world have I not used the blender pens more….I am sure that you are a SUPER PRO at them and I will take any tips…anytime!!!
YES, I did use my vitamins on it. I totally forgot to write that! I couldn’t go a day without my vitamins!
I did not use any masking….I simply stamped the vases right on the DSP and then snipped away – they are very easy to cut out and then I simply used the green glue to stick them over top of the image I stamped on my card.Try it….
Om my gosh…..I bet you were all fingers!!!! I have not tried that technique but I am intrigued by it – was it worth the effort???? I have seen many videos on it and I must say that I laugh as I think I would come out as a set of inky hands!
I am so glad that you had a fun night out!
Please do…you will be smiling and proud of yourself!
Your hubby is one smart man….make this one and see if he like it – have Caleb pick the colors of DSP – you will have fun!
Thanks for the comment, it is a fun card – I love the freshness and simplicity. The kids had fun driving together and they are safe and sound!
You of all people will rock it – I was going to do some embossed lines all the way around but I thought less was best on this one!
I am happy to make you smile but you have no idea how YOU ALL make me smile! I love what I do and my theory is to share and teach you whatever I think of – we all need to start and learn somewhere! Many thanks for popping by!
I am with you one that….I forget about things and then when the lightbulb comes on…I do the happy dance! –
I can help you on this one…YOU NEED THE VIVID VASE STAMP….there is rarely a single stamp that I do not purchase as I think that they are the best band for your buck and this one is soooooo super sweet – I was thrilled that it was carried over!
Please do….fast…fun & DONE!
We all seem to have lots of bis and pieces of DSP….this method is a great way to sue them up and create a different look. I do hope that you give it a try! Many thanks for popping in!
Yes they did come out kind of fun and cool. I love stamping at her house because I can leave the mess there! It was fun to see the others as they lined up their circle splotches and didn’t get a fun look – just sort of a line up of big dotted colors. One of the women in her afternoon class took home her sample by mistake so she had to make one with us to show us. See Thur’s comment to hear about what I came home to!
