Good Morning and this card just might be in the running for my Holiday Card! Guess that means that I like it….well I do and I hope that it "tickles your fancy" as well! I had a sweet nudge from my friend Brian King to play along with this new challenge that he is a a designer for!
I hope that you will as well as not only are the designers from all over the world – it is an FUN challenge and I encourage you to hop on over to their website to check it out…and the play along – you have nothing to lose! Here is the sketch that inspire my card!
I knew exactly what I was going to do when I saw this sketch! I have just been "itching" to ink up the Peaceful Wreath Stamp Set and remember my motto this week…"When John's away, Susan will play" We have been having some beautiful weather and I took my stamped wreath outside and colored away!
I think that I will do a video on this card as it looks like there might be a "hard factor" but there really is not…I say there is a "wow factor" as you can see that the wreath is completely cut out – FUN!
Can you see in the above picture that the crumb cake base was cut out? I just placed the wreath in the "hole" and then on the back side I adhered it with the new MUST HAVE tear & tape. Have no fear, I would never leave the back not solid as that would not be me at all….so all I did was adhere a piece of crumb cake in the A-2 side – DONE!
(I realize that this sounds difficult but I just cut the card base and the extra piece at the same time so I was sure of a perfect cut, I love that you can cut 2 sheets of paper at the same time with the Big Shot)
Linen thread, especially against the crumb cake is always so rich and warm but adding the pop of the real red was the icing on the cake! A simple glue dot did the trick….love those things!
You can see the watercoloring….so easy and relaxing – I highly encourage you to give it a try. It is one of those things that you really can not mess up on and you just get better and better with practice. I truly have "no clue" as to what is right or what is not….I just roll with what works for me! Have fun with colors – mix it up!
You can see that there are (2) colors on the leaves….I first went over them in Pear Pizzazz and then let that dry…then did a quick here and there with old olive….works for me – what do you think?
I just LOVE this new Designer Series Paper Stacks and I even love it more when it is in the In Color like this is (Mossy Meadow) as you get (4) sheets and when you cut the paper like I did for this envelope….you will be able to do 12 envelopes per sheet of paper!
This is the paper stacks that I have in my product shares (#7)….it is just the best that you will get a 1/2 sheet of each of the patterns in every color…Regals, Subtles, Neutrals, Brights and the In Colors1
I did heat emboss the sentiment but you could easily use white Staz On but I really enjoy heat embossing and i think the sharpness of white just makes it POP! I was super excited to be able to use the NEW enamel dots…these are the best and I could use them in many colors!
There you go…..I hope that you like it as much as I did – it is to me, a warm and inviting card that will be remembered! If you would like to see a video of this card, please leave me a comment – I would adore sharing with you the ins and outs more in detail – you know me….I love to share and help you learn!
Thanks for your time, please email me if I can be of help and remember to use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ to take advantage of your gift from me!
You can click here to see the goodies that I will send to you! I have a beautiful table full of "dot boxes" and they look so fun when you see them – instant smile!
Speaking of instant smile – EDDIE UPDATE: He is either going to start laying eggs and getting feathers as he is LOVIN' his egg and turkey menu! I am so proud of him as he has not missed a meal – a great appetite and I am hoping when John comes home he think he looks heavier.
Remember that I told you about how he likes the horses bucket…well I brought one up to the house by the back door and Daisey Mae (my dear little fat piggie) knocked it over but this doesn't stop him…..gotta love this picture!
Until tomorrow!
I adore this card – it is gorgeous! Thanks too for the Eddie updates, they warm my heart and this pic is over-the-moon and made my day! THANK YOU and God bless!
This Christmas card is Super Cute, and I’m glad you ended up playing along in that new challenge! What a winner, IMO~ Now on to Mr. Eddie Itell….LOL! He just makes me laugh, Susan. Oh my, what a hoot! Sprouting feathers and laying eggs…oh dear, that would be quite a site to see~
Hi Susan, Love the colors of the Christmas Card. Like the simplicity of it. Isn’t the week going fast, fast, fast!!! Eddie certainly put a smile on my face today.
🙂
Beautiful card and love the way you cut it out! Very elegant and classy. Yes, do a video as we all enjoy them so much! Eddie certainly melts the heart and is quite the character. Super hugs to him! Perhaps he can make a guest appearance in your next video! Enjoy your day!
I would enjoy seeing a video of how this card came together. The water coloring looks great with the crumb cake background. I like the welcoming feel this card gives. Thanks for sharing.
Call me inspired…..I can’t wait to make this card!!!! Love your colors….just the right homey feeling I want to send out to friends and family!! Glad Eddie is eating better! He is such a cutie!!
Beautiful card!! I love everything about it:-). A video would be great! So glad Eddie has perked up – he is a fighter!
I love your card! The inlaid wreath is such a fantastic effect! I don’t quite understand what you are saying you did on the inside/back of the front to hide the construction. It’s like I almost understand and then my brain loses the picture. Anyway, if you do a video, I will gladly watch it!
Glad that Eddie is doing so much better!
Cyberhugs!
Yes, please do a video about this card.
Oh so pretty! Fits the challenge perfectly! Very cool cut out part! Of course your coloring is gorgeous as ever! You are so right about the red ribbon is the icing on the cake with than linen thread!
Oh Eddie is so funny! Love that he is doing much better. That photo is the best!
Love it, Susan! Especially the peek-a-boo cut out – makes it different and interesting. Nicely done!
Hi Susan, I am so glad Brian gave you a nudge to play along. Your card is stunning! I am not only impressed with the inlaid wreath, but love that you can see through the middle too. Thanks for playing at GDP this week ♥
I love this card. Can’t wait for the video.
Eddie is such a character! I love your card and how you have the wreath embedded on it. Very nice!
Absolutely love this card…especially the open center and the fun bow. Thanks for playing along with Global Design Project.
Susan, I love the the window card you made with this wreath. The inlaid effect makes it even better. Thanks so much for sharing with us at Global Design Project.
Thank YOU for popping in and leaving such a sweet comment! I was happy with the card – super fun to make!
I thought that visual would make people chuckle! I am so happy that he is eating. I hope that when John gets home Friday night he can see a change in him…..I have been calling him “Mr. Protein Man”!
To the card….I really think that it might be one that I send out – I was glad that I was encouraged.
Thanks Nancy – it really is a simple card and it was a treat to watercolor – so relaxing! Hugs my friend!
I think that would be wonderful to have Eddie in a video – I will talk with him in the morning…..he is snoozing by my side!
The “cut out” just came to mind and it worked – I just love that when that happens!
I agree, I think that crumb cake and watercoloring look great together, I think that it brings an instant comfort to you! Thanks for popping in!
Yeah! Please make this card – it’s a keeper and feel free to email me if you have questions, I am sure that you are going to make a beauty! Have fun!
I will do a video…I think that it will help and just think with the other wreath stamps we have – this would be a versatile card all year …..wouldn’t a Spring card be beautiful!
Hey you….I am sure that you are up to your ears in moving and figuring everything out – you truly are my hero!
Because I cut the card and wiggled the wreath in (like a puzzle) when you opened up the card you would have seen the wreath with tear tape so I just put a piece of crumb cake the size of the card so you wouldn’t see it!
Will do….I do think it will help! Thanks for popping in!
I love the pop of the red! I knew that you would get a hoot out of the bucket photo! I should post a picture of him at his birthday party – we tried to get a group picture of all 6 of them but it was hopeless!
Thanks my friend….thinking of all of you in California –
Thanks Paula….when the “KING” nudges….you better do it! He is a hoot and I adore the whole concept of the challenge site – super fun!
Well it will be a one take wonder but I am sure it will help! Thanks for popping in!
He is a character – It is amazing how much we have been doing….he walked with me to the mailbox and I think that he had more energy than I did! I still get soooo pooped but getting stronger each day!
You betcha….loved the challenge and I just love watercoloring!
Thanks Shawn….you all are doing a fantastic job with this challenge – way to go and I look forward to playing more with you! Thanks for popping onto my blog!
I didn’t have the time to write this morning after we checked your post, but I couldn’t let the Eddie picture go by without writing something tonight. We all laughed our heads off when we saw the picture of him in the water bucket. So Sweet!! Caleb suggested that you should publish a book of Eddie pictures, it would be a New York Times Best Seller! Your card today is beautiful; I love the watercoloring and embossing. Glad you are enjoying your time while John is away. Hugs from your Wisconsin friends!!
Hi Susan! What a lovely card! The inlaid wreath is a great concept and I love the touch of red ribbon in the linen thread. Thank you so much for playing along to the Global Design Project this week. Louise xo
