It’s the weekend so that means that it is Simple Saturday here at Simple Stampin’ I know I feel like I have been doing a bunch of Holiday Cards but I promise, I’ll switch it up soon!
Before we get to today’s card I want to let you know that on Tuesday I will be mailing everyone that participated in the Holiday Card Swap put and then soon after I will start posting your beautiful creations! I know that you love to see your work and trust me, it brings me great joy to see and share your talent!
Let’s get going! Sometimes Christmas does not need to the traditional colors and I think that today’s Navy is so clean and crisp!
The base is Night of Navy (5 ½” x 4 ¼”) and then I used the thick white cardstock at 5” X 3 ¾” . I like seeing a larger border today as I think it makes the POP happen!
I scored all 4 side just one notch in with the Simply Scored Tool, just love this effect.
The stamp set that I am working with today is the Holly Jolly Greetings and the Christmas Greeting Thinlits Dies. This does come as a bundle and YES, you need to purchase both of these as they are fabulous! Take a peek on page 34 in the Holiday Catalog and you will see what I mean – a total keeper…can you see where my inspiration came from? Our catalog pictures are GREAT sources to get your Mojo going!
I would suggest that you use the stamp-a-ma-jig…because you are “building” words ~ the stamp-a-ma-jig will help you immensely. I know…I know – just try it – you'll like it….PROMISE!
Stamp the snowflake first and then I would place your “jolly” where you think you might like it but do not adhere it down. I then take a pencil line where you think you will want your sentiment to be and then stamp it!
I have great success with using a pencil line and then waiting to the ink to be completely dry and taking an eraser over it!
Let’s talk about the sentiment. YEP – I used the vanilla coaster board and cut the sentiment out twice to give it a lift. Here are a couple of things that I get asked a bunch?
- Where is this product in the catalog? It is on page 148 in the annual catalog.
- Does it cut through the Big Shot? YES, just like any other paper you would cut but you can only do one sheet at a time.
- What platform do you use? Before the precision plate came out, I always used the magnetic platform. Both work great but I will say, HANDS DOWN, I now prefer the precision plates as the cut is super clean!
- Why do you like using this product? EASY = I think that the lift it gives to a project is well worth the effort.
- What adhesive to you use? Green Glue all the time. If you get too much on, no worries ~ just let it “set up” a bit and you will be good to go with no oozing!
The simple piece of red stripe DSP (1” wide and from the Brights DSP Stack) and the navy strip (a sliver) was a simple touch that made a big difference. I just snuggled it in between the embossed scored lines.
I just could not resist….we have these BEAUTIFUL Metal Rimmed Pearls that are just THE BEST! Doesn’t this just make this card look super clean and classic? To me, it is well worth the effort of adding a cushion for mailing purposes!
I hope that you have the time to pop back tomorrow…I am going to do something that I think might surprise you..any guesses?????

LOVE your card today…can’t imagine what you will do tomorrow to make it better. Another layer under the WW? Adding the wooden snowflake or bling ribbon like the sample in the catalog? I could guess all day but I’m sure you will still surprise me with something uniquely Susan. Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s version.
Caleb just asked me yesterday if I thought our swap card had gotten lost in the mail. LOL. Thanks for the update. 🙂 I’m looking forward to getting a card and seeing what everyone else made.
Beautiful card and I love how you “think outside the box” with non traditional colors. Can’t wait to see what is in store for us tomorrow. Ahh….our card swap….excitement and smiles filling the air! Hugs!
No guesses this week. Can’t wait to see.
🙂
Susan, Your card is so sweet. I love the colors. You are so amazing. I have to ak ypou is is too late to send yopu your Christmas card for the swap. It was a lot crazy here for the past couple of weeks. Have a great day.
Ellen Hinds I can not guess what you will be doing tpomorrow. I can not wait…
I really like that you are not using the “scrolling” store. I think it is much easier to look at the supplies in the format you have today.
Great card, Susan. I’m looking forward to see what you do tomorrow.
Really different and modern . I like your Night of Navy strip to add another touch of blue and make the dsp pop plus it goes with your snowflake . Love your attention to detail. And I keep forgetting to pull out my Coaster Board !!
You have my curiosity up about the next card !! Glitter,Baker`s Twine….oh ,what can it be ?????
Sweet and clean. Great card!
Sweet! I really like today’s card! Bright and crisp as new fallen snow. I saw the photo in the catalog and thought ugh, that is not a good card for me. I swear they need to feature some of your cards vs. theirs! I would buy this set based on your card – seeing theirs I quickly past by it! The navy is a fun touch for a change. But, I really love that red and white striped paper. For tomorrow’s card – maybe a glittery snowflake since you don’t normally do glittery stuff? The scoring is a fun touch too. Maybe using the navy snowflake DP? Don’t know but I will stay tuned to check it out! Hope you are having a great time with Hannah!
