Now don't get too excited….there are times that it is hard to step something up that you are super happy with just as it is…but I think that I did it, even though the changes are not drastic!
Remember that these 2 day posts are intended for you to see how there are other ways to make a change and still have a classic yet simple end result! I am the very first to realize and understand that we all have different supplies and today I am using a product that I rarely, rarely use….the Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details.
Let's get to it and hopefully side by side you can see them and then the more detailed pictures will give you a better idea of the differences! One this that is for sure…we all have different takes on things and there is not a "right or wrong" way to do things.
Here are the major differences…..
- I took away the enamel dots and pearls and replaced them with the cherry cobbler dazzling details.
- Matted the focal piece with a piece of Always Artichoke
- Added a sliver of Always Artichoke underneath the sentiment
- Popped up the Matted piece with Stampin' Dimensionals!
Now here are some tips:
- I would still use the Sahara Sand around the holly image as it really makes it POP!
- To make the slivers of paper, I like to use the "RIGHT HAND SIDE" of the cutter…I find that I can get a straighter cut.
- When using the dazzling details….squirt a small amount on a piece of scrap paper to get it flowing…..this will help with "BLOPS" and then BE PATIENT – it takes a while to dry!
Yesterday I forgot to mentions that YES, I did use the Vanilla Coaster Board…that is like the white gel pen to me….could not – would not be without it! I just thing that extra step of cutting it out is soooooooo worth it as the end result is fabulous! I always use the "green glue" for adhering!
I know that we are coming to the home stretch with making Holiday Cards but this is a super quick one that you could mass produce in no time! Remember, it is the thought and the effort that people remember….not the perfection…..
The home stretch is coming to our fabulous sale.…remember that tomorrow is another DOOR BUSTER day so remember…the early bird will get the worm! Shopping from home is the way to go for me!
Please remember to use the hostess code of 4JUNK3R7
Remember, DOUBLE Paw Prints Rewards for all orders placed with me during this fun SALE time……and also remember to use the Hostess code 4JUNK3R7 of to take advantage of the SANTA…..and Silicone Mat – Click here for those details!
I will try to take a picture of the Santas on my dining room table – this elf has been busy! You will smile….HO-HO-HO!!!

Hi Susan, I thought the two slivers of Always Artichoke were SU Grosgrain Stitched Ribbon! Beautiful touches.
🙂
G’Morning. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I love the “Sunday” version this week. I am a big fan of layers. Also, the strips of green really set off the sentiment. Pretty, pretty!
Good morning, Susan! I, too, thought the Sunday version used strips of stitched ribbon! They are both “super” … as much as I, too, love many layers, when making lots of cards to mail out now that it costs $.70 or so, I appreciate even more your Saturday and Sunday options! Thank you, Susan.
Beautiful cards, Susan! Great idea to use paper with your “famous” white dots instead of ribbon. It was a very nice surprise. Both cards are great and it would be difficult to choose one over the other. I agree with Suzie about trying to minimize layers when mailing lots of cards. Have a wonderful day.
My vote is for Sunday’s card. I have become a lover of layers, even if it often does cost me more to mail. I like them so much I layered this month’s Paper Pumpkin. It just didn’t seem complete without them. Kind of like lipstick or earrings.
I found it hard to decide which of your cards I liked best. But the thing that made your card today stand out the most for me was the Always Artichoke you used behind your focal piece. It made all the colors pop and stand out more that the Simple Saturday card yet still clean and simple to the eye. Lovely!
I always enjoy your cards, and the “step it up version” is something I look forward to. I find it’s hard to know when to stop, so it’s nice to see how someone else handles it. I forget how big a difference there is when you brush on the Sahara Sand around the holly branches. It’s something I have to keep in mind. Thanks for your wonderful designs.
Hi robyn, I have not dived into the Paper Pumpkin kit yet, still drooling! I would love to see what you matted or layered the cards. I love looking at alternative uses for the kits.
Susan, is there a way you can show us Robyn’s PP layering?
Both cards are pretty nifty! I do love the layers of today’s a bit better maybe. I had to smile when several of us thought you used the stitched ribbon instead of the pieces of paper and one of your favorite buddies, the white gel pen. Thanks for the tip about the dazzling diamonds – I usually am in a hurry and glop it out and then get mad. A simple plop on scrap paper would save me some headaches! Even though I love the candy dots, I think I like the smaller berries done with the DD. But, either way I would cherish either card as I hope to truly believe that it is the “thought and effort” that people will remember!
