Here is a “happy” card for you today! I find that I tend to send a bunch of encouragement/thinking of you cards and I admit…I feel like I have been in a “slump” with creating so I needed to make a special card for a friend and I just could not find the mojo….(does this happen to YOU???? Please say yes so I do not think I am the only one)
This week at Freshly Made Sketches, the challenge fits this card to a tee! I was super happy to see that Karren chose the sentiment to be the focal part…I just love the “clean team”. Sentiments are powerful and letting a sentiment shine is so easy and sends a powerful message!
I reached for the Annual Catalog and was hoping to find the “perfect” stamp….and there is was, Hello, Life! I know that bought this stamp set for this specific sentiment, I love Big and Bold sentiments and this does the trick!
I thought to myself…what is the one thing that makes me happy when I stamp….HEAT EMBOSSING – I will say that I do not do this technique often but I will say…that I can still remember the very 1st time I heat embossed….I was over the moon WOWED!
Seeing the “melting effect” is amazing….and I will say that the 2 colors I use for heat embossing the most are the clear (like I did today) or the white embossing powder – you just simply can not go wrong with white!
Do you all know how to heat emboss? The reason I am asking is that I am the 1st to know that I have been on the other side and hearing “lingo” etc….and thinking…what the heck are they talking about???? Please feel free to reach out to me or leave a comment if you would like to see a video on the in’s and out’s of heat embossing…..
This is a 4 1/4″ square card…and YEP, it will fit in our regular envelope but you know me….I love to make my own envelopes! I think that doing this is not only easy, but it is the icing on the cake! The envelope punch board is soooo darn tootin’ easy to use.
Did you notice that I covered the entire front of the card with the DSP from the Have a Cuppa DSP Stack? This is again something that I do not often do but it does make an impact! It is a subtle pattern so letting this shine – works!
I lined the outer flap of the envelope with another paper from the Have a Cuppa DSP Stack….and I used the blender pen (another product that I do not use a ton) but I like it for this as it is not too dark and does the trick!
The FUN that I did today that is different for me is that I used the fun foam to cut out flowers from the Botanical Bundle! I am just lovin’ this stuff and yep, it goes thru the big shot like butter and it makes a perfect cut, just love it – what do you think?
I am amazed at how much I am having fun with the fun foam. It is exciting to be able to find and explore other products that make creating fun! The real gem is the Big Shot – now this is a product that is a MUST HAVE for crafting…..it cuts through just about anything! LOVE IT!
I hope that you have a “Happy Day” today…this has been a crazy week on the East Coast but it can only get better! I am out the door this morning to help my friend that has a leg injury do grocery…errands…..lunch and laughter – a day that I need and I know that we will have fun and my “joy tank” will be filled up!
You know what is tomorrow…..Simple Saturday….stay tuned – you will smile!

Loving your optimism Susan. You give us a “boost” every day. Your card is fun and inspiring.
LOVE this card! How can you not smile when seeing it! The foam is making me do the happy dance and embossing, well that is my FAVORITE of all! Happy Friday and thanks for all that you do for so many!
Happy fun day to you! Love the square card and the fun foam does make a person happy and, well, have fun! I, too, get the “slumps” sometimes but then I go to your blog and my “slumps” go away! You inspire us, my friend! ?
Oh, no, you’re not the only one! In fact, yesterday, I did a stack of what I call “formula cards,” with the “four feathers” stamp set & framelits, on whisper white CS with coastal cabana & daffodil delight ink & DSP, that I will now use to catch up on sympathy, thinking of you and birthdays. I prefer to do “something different” for each person, but when I’m crunched for time, it helps to have a backup plan!
Great card and use of the fun foam. I agree with other posters that your upbeat attitude is contagious. We all need to fill our joy tank from time to time. Have a wonderful day.
Love your card and the fun attitude. Do you use the same recipe for using the foam with the Big Shot?
Thanks,
Thanks for the great tip about fun foam! I never would have thought of that!
I just heat embossed for the first time the other day and I am in love! Seeing the moment it changes is magic!
Thanks for a fun card today. I tried to create several cards and kept trying different things and mucking them up. I need a fresh look or feel now and then. I don’t heat emboss enough or use the Big Shot lately. Of course with my mess of a house it is hard to find a place to create. Enough crabbing.
I wondered, did she really use the fun foam on the cards – yepper she did! What a fun twist it gave! Clear embossing is fun and I actually bought a new jar to use. I remember the first time I saw it done and tried it! I really love how you used the DP on the whole background – so subtle but what an impact! Then the mating of the black with the scoring on the Bermuda Bay makes this so subtly stunning! Then, the envelope is just plain fun with the random coloring of the hearts. I just love this card and envelope! Super well done!
Hi Susan, You would never know that you are in a creating slump, unless you told us. Everyday your cards are wonderful. I love the heat embossing, it looks terrific.
🙂
Let me assure you that, for me, slumps are all part of this stamping game! I don’t know why it happens, but it does and eventually it leads to better days! And I can see that your “slump” is over with this gorgeous card! I love the embossed sentiment and the foam flowers are super cute! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this card! Heat embossing is my favorite thing to do! The turquoise and fun foam flowers make me HAPPY, too! Great card! SO wonderful you can help your friend! XXX
Absolutely gorgeous! I adore the colours you’ve used – so striking! Thanks for joining us at FMS this week!
