It is the weekend already and I am finally feeling like I can remember what day it is…(the darn and wonderful holiday) threw me all out of whack! As you know to me….Life is an adventure and this weekend is no different. I am super blessed to have 15 amazing women be together to celebrate a dear friends 50th birthday!
As we all know that it is so hard to get a group like this together with crazy schedules of work….being a Mom….etc….so I am super excited to be away with some AMAZING women…..I have limited or no internet so if you email me and I do not get back to you right away, chances are “the mountains got me”! Enough about me – lets get to the post for today.
I decided to go with this look this weekend as many of you struggle with masculine cards ideas. This card by any means does not necessarily have to be for a guy….it could be for anyone – that’s what makes it so fun and versatile!
This weekend we are working with the Going Global Stamp Set from the new catalog and I was going to use the super great Going Places DSP Stack (as it coordinates great) but I decided to go with the Go Wild DSP Stack from the annual catalog. WHY???? – Easy, I want to share with you that we have many, many products on our shelves that can work with the “new kids on the block”
I know that it is super tempting to get the newbies….but then again, I know than many of you are super practical and like using items up. (WAY TO GO – you are my hero) – as that is a FABULOUS trait to have!
Another thing that I know is a struggle for many of you is to use a DSP as a focal point to your card! I think that you can see that this print is fun yet subtle in its own way so having it in the back and letting the stamped image and sentiment just works!
I followed the colors that are in the DSP….Tip Top Taupe and Black. The black matting makes the POP happen to the DSP and also off setting on an angle creates interest, Try that simple trick – you will like it!
The 2″ Circle Punch is a cinch to pop out the stamped image and then I simply popped out 2 more circles and off set them as well to create some interest before popping it up with dimensionals.
CONFESSIONS OF AN HONEST STAMPER……when I stamped the sentiment I had a boo-boo….time was not o my side to do a redo so I thought, hmmmmm…..what can I do – PERFECT ~ a candy dot to cover up my mistake! After all, we are all human and make mistakes!
The finally, a beautiful envelope – you no me….not one card without a finishing touch that does make a difference. I know that it takes a bit more time but trust me, it is worth it and you will definitely make someones day!
I am sure that we all have many people that we could send this simple card to as I know that we are all blessed to have many people in our lives that DO MEAN THE WORLD TO US!
I am so happy that the new catalog is being well received! I am telling you…..you will need to go through it many, many times as there is just so much to take in! When I return home on Sunday I am excited to read your comments from yesterdays post….I have something fun for you on Monday!
Enjoy the day and I hope to see you back here tomorrow to see the “Stepped up version”

Your card is great. This stamp set was on my first order and I’ve used it several times already. I plan on making valentines cards for Caleb’s class with it. I love your honesty about the candy dot!! Enjoy your time with your friends this weekend–it’s a blessing you can do something so special!
When I first saw this stamp I was on the fence about it. I thought how would I use it. Now after seeing your card which is fantastic, and reading Tricia’s comment on using it for Valentine’s Day, this stamp set is definitely a winner! Woot Woot! Enjoy your fun weekend in the mountains!
This card has so many great elements, chevrons, circles, lines, angles. You have definitely pulled them all together in a great design. Super card Susan. Have fun with your gal pals.
I am working backwards here. See my comment on Sunday’s card. This would be fun for a valentine’s card for Mike. I can only make so many Iowa Hawkeye cards. The first few years we were married – I used the same valentine card and it took him the 3rd year to remember I had given it to him before. I spent $3 on it and at that time that was a lot of money for us and I wanted to get as much mileage as possible!
I bet you had a great time with your pals! I am so envious!
I absolutely love your “Step up..” Blogs–what a little extra does to the final eff cuts of a card!
I love the sentiments in this set; so heartfelt and pure.
*Supposed to be “effects”, not eff cuts…sorry
