Here you go…a “Susan Card” – what does that mean??? EASY – this is right up my alley…I love the simplicity of it and true I have blogged about this before…you just cannot go wrong with the classics! You all loved it before so I thought, WHY NOT show this style again but change up the paper and sentiment!
This card IS a card for many reasons….WHY??? – just change up the sentiments and PRESTO –
a totally different feel!
Today is a Pals Paper At Challenge and this week it is a color challenge! See the FUN mix of colors that Katy McGloin came up with. I knew that the Sale-a-bration paper would work perfectly but I also figured that everyone else had the same idea so I just used it in “bits” to be the POP on the vases! Please do not forget to pop by the Pals Paper Art site and see what’s happening!
Let’s get into this card as I do hope that it brings a smile to your face and also that you CASE away with it! Just think of all of the differnt sentiments that you can use. Small prints of paper work great when “decorating” your vases.
It is super simple, just use the stamp and stamp the image right on the DSP and then do a super easy fussy cut and then adhere them with green glue – PRESTO – BINGO!
Today I did use the watercolor paper and the Aqua Painter. I have been having GREAT success with the Thick White Card Stock…it will work fine, just be careful that you do not over saturate the paper. The best tip I can give you is to have a paper towel handy to dab off excess water if you need to. I do hope that you try to watercolor more…it is really fun, relaxing and rewarding.
You can see the colors in the supplies below that I used but I adore using the Sahara sane around the edges of the vases…it really makes them pop and look special (Darn, I wish that you could see it in person and it truly is a great card….sometimes it’s hard to capture it in a picture)
The over all size of the card is a 4 1/4″ square card and the great thing about his size is that you can use one of our regular envelopes but you know me, I like to make my own….that envelope punch board makes like super easy!
After I did the coloring and adhered the vases, I took the image and flipped it over and used the simply scored and sores 1 notch on all the say around. Adhering that to a piece of Sahara Sand (a smidge larger) helps make it POP!
To me, it is amazing with how much mileage you can get form a single stamp. Please do not get me wrong, I love the sentiment that is on this stamp…but to me the ease of masking it off and the using many different options is the icing on the cake! The stamp is in the annual catalog, Vivid Vases.
The sentiment is from the New Occasions Catalog…Greatest Greetings and I adore the font and there are some fun, unique and festive sentiments. Remember, when in doubt…buy the sentiments….they always come in handy for many of your card projects!
Do you agree??? This is a very doable card and one that would be a great one to use up scraps. You could also easily use a blender pen if you are more comfortable – remember, do what works for YOU!
I hope that YOU are catching my smiles that I am sending to YOU! Today I am going to Baltimore for a Check Up on my Ankle….It feels so much better to be where I am this year verses last year at this time.
GREAT NEWS….Eddie has been a Chow Hound…I call him my Rocky Balboa….he is PUMPING up and his energy is sooooo much better! Me heart is happy.
Please feel free to email me, I will be gone all day but will check tomorrow night! Remember, we are over 1/2 way thru Sale-a-Bration…this is the best time of the year to stock up on goodies…. (staples that you use over and over) and then for each $50.00 you get to pick a FREEBIE….a great deal!
Tomorrow’s post will make you giggle….Mr. Frog is back!!!!
Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog

This card is adorable – Love how you used the DSP!! So happy to hear that Eddie is doing so well too – great news! Thanks for all that you do, Susan!
Love this card and stamp…..and the DSP works so well with it! Looking at Greatest Greetings you could add almost any of the sentiments to change it up. Happy to hear Eddie is doing better….he’s such a champ! Good luck with you ankle today, Susan.
Sweet card. It does bring a smile to my face. Hope your day goes well. Looking forward to seeing Mr. Frog tomorrow.
You are a wiz at using things, like that chevron DSP, which leave me clueless. I would love to watch you figure out a card from the beginning. I think I would learn a lot! This is a great card!
Have a safe trip to Baltimore. I hope you get a stellar report on your ankle!
Cyberhugs!
It’s another cute “Susan” card! I love this card!
You are so right about how versatile this stamp set is and you’ve shown us another way to use it with this great card today. So glad Eddie is perking up and eating again.
Remember, in order to see this in person I need to see it in my mailbox to get my hands on it as I don’t think a trip out east is in store for me right now! Just kidding! I keep forgetting to get that darn Sahara Sand ink and it works perfectly for shadows. Love it for the mating too! This is a bit more than a simple Susan card with all those patterns going on but we will still call it that. Paper piecing is fun but I rarely do it. Maybe I need to look through a bunch of stamps and pick some out that would work for this and play with some scraps. I bet I have a bunch that would work if I just looked. You always make the best smile cards. I need to make some for my neighbor who is back in Pella in rehab making great progress from her stroke. I think I will make that my mission today and this weekend to make her some cards. Probably not as festive as your colorful card but still…
So glad Rocky, I mean Eddie, is becoming a REAL champ esp with eating and gaining strength and endurance. Need the endurance for ball playing you know.
I know you will have an excellent report from the doctor on your ankle. You have made great strides! Ha-ha another pun and I didn’t even know it!
I love this card so much I want to marry it. LOL! Everything about it is perfect in my eyes. These colors and the funky retro-ness of those vases really speaks to me.
Susan,
I love the vases in this dsp!!! So cute. Can’t wait to try it.
Susan…. I love this! Especially the Sahara Sand shading.
Love that you used DSP for the vases. I would have never thought of that.
you are so inspiring Susan. I just got that stamp and now have to CASE this. love the paper piecing. I just love your work!!!
Susan, you did an outstanding job with this color combination! Love the little bits of DSP. Such a great example for note card classes. And my favorite neutral with these colors was Sahara Sand also. Now, off to pin, Pal…
Great job, Susan! I love your Sahara Sand shading. I’m sure this card is even more stunning in person. I am so glad to hear Eddie is eating like a champ. Caleb says he wishes he was there to play with him. Best of luck tomorrow! My thoughts and prayers are with you. 🙂
HI Susan, I am about to follow your advice and cut my DSP into 6×6 inch squares, just one question, how do you store it after cutting? I have my A4 paper in a filing drawer, labelled and in alphabetical order. I love your blog, I look at it every day. I get so inspired by you and your cards.
Susan, this card is so good! I love the paper-piecing on the vases and the shadow behind the flowers. You found a fantastic way to use these colors. Thanks for sharing with Pals Paper Arts.
Beuautiful use of these colors, Susan. I do love me a paper-pieced set of Vivid Vases. Thank you so much for playing along with this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge.
Susan, this card is fabulous! I simply love how you paper pieced the vases in alternating patterns so they are all varied. Plus your layers are top notch! Thank you for joining us this week at the Pals Paper Arts Challenge!
