Good Morning and brrrrrrr….the East Coast (along with many other states) have had the COLDEST weekend and we are to get some snow/ice today. Snow is o.k. but ice is scary. I will stay put if we have ice!

- Perfectly Artistic DSP
Let’s get to this card and then at the end of the post I am going to answer a couple of questions about yesterday’s post….I am so glad that you likes it….it truly was a fun one to do and I am surprised that it is so easy!
I love PLAIDS….I love POLKA DOTS…I love STRIPES!
Today the FUN FACTOR of this card to me is the plaid but then again, that darn PEEP is super cute! How did I do this – EASY!
You have heard me blog this before….2 staples that are a necessity in my opinion in our craft area are a mechanical pencil (as I think the lead is softer and easier to erase) and also a good eraser, I like the brand “Magic Rub”……
All I did was take a scrap piece of thick white paper and drew lines faintly with a pencil every 1/2″ – I know that this is rather “type A” but I am being totally honest as I am all about the end result. Using the Stamp -a- ma-jig I stamped the 4 colors….crushed curry, bermuda bay, melon mambo and cucumber crush.
I realize that the “peep” is in So Saffron, but the crushed curry worked better and created a POP! After I did the stamping, I simply erased the lines and then used the square framelits to cut the plaid piece and then used the next size larger to mat it with bermuda bay.
I lifted the focal part to make it shine and this is such an easy thing to do that always makes an impact. As far as the little peep…..I did a SUPER QUICK fussy cut of him….please do not stress about this….just do it – remember…it is “handmade” not “hallmark”
This was super fun to do and once I completed it, I smiled. There is something about fun colors and plaids that make me smile. I am sure that many of you think that this process takes a bunch of time….but it is not bad at all and I think that the end result is worth it – I made (3) for my PEEPS….as this is my “pet name” for them.
Let’s chat about this envelope….are you smiling? I think that this is the “icing on the cake” and makes such a fin statement. Why did I do that thin strip of bermuda bay? EASYÂ = type A Susan did not like the way that the polka dots were when I trimmed the excess off!
I have found that using the good old “green glue” works wonders with envelopes! I often get asked…..does it get torn up in the mail? No, I have not had feedback that envelopes have been torn up and when you can, walk your “work of art” into the post office and ask them to hand stamp them.
Please do not miss the boat to get these Sale-a-bration goodies that are leaving us at the end of today! For every increment of $50.00, you can pick a FREEBIE – simply the best time of the year with Stampin’ Up!
Now to some feedback to the post yesterday….YEP – I will do a video for you….Wednesday! I purchase the Stick It from amazon…..I hate to say this as it is Sunday as I type this…I had a Amazon delivery today…they are AMAZING !!!! I say, when in doubt – go to Amazon!
Enjoy the day and until tomorrow!

I chose the “Hello” stamp set for the super font and all the emoticon-like images. Never imagined I’d use the hashmark stripe. Leave it to you to change my mind! Now I’ve got all sorts of ideas for it. Adorable card. Thanks, too, for the ginger cookie recipe. Read your post yesterday before you added it on. Extra treat for me today to find it!! THANKS! Off to bake a batch for my Girl Scout troop meeting snack. (Our council’s order of GS cookies for this season doesn’t arrive for 2 weeks, so I’ll be a hero(ine) if I show up with these. Merci encore)
Love the plaid and the colors….you are so clever! The peep is so sweet, just waiting for a hug. Great card!?
I LOVE your “plaid”, Susan! And your envelope is so fun!
I do love plaid and this is wonderful! You are so clever! Stay warm today 🙂
Love the plaid! Thank you for the Ginger Cookie recipe. I’m off to Harris Teeter to find that molasses!
I’m sorry, but I don’t see where you made the plaid at (when I try to click on where you state, it doesn’t do anything). Very cute card!
Great minds think alike though you act on your ideas a lot faster than me. I was thinking about a border and then maybe a diagonal stripe if not a big plaid using that stamp – it just wasn’t uneven enough for grass I didn’t think and couldn’t figure what else it was for. Then, I open it up and immediately knew what you used to make that darling plaid. Oh, do I ever use the word “darling” on a comment? It looks so cool with your mats too. Love it! Of course I think the chick is pretty darn cute in it’s own little sassy way it’s wings are sort of on it’s hips! Just cracks me up! If it was a duck I could say it “quacks” me up!
That envelope is the best! I understand about the polka dots and why you did that. I wasn’t smart enough to do that treatment on the envelope with a polka dot flap that I made, and it works so well! Why didn’t I think about it. The little bits of Type A come out now and then in me!
Oh this is a cute cute card . I love that silly BIDDIE(that is what my mother use to call baby chicks ) . After reading the comments this morning I rushed back to your Famous Ginger Cookie recipe that I missed early yesterday morning . Double yum !!
One of my daughters loves soft cookies and this recipe goes to her for sure !! Thank you ! Now about that Green Glue ….I think it does GREAT sticking ,but I get it everywhere !! I am going to try Linda`s tip on the Press And Seal . Hope it helps !!!
Also plan on trying the Stick It !! Such Fun !!
The plaid is fantastic. It’s nice to make your own background paper. Very cute card.
Love that happy plaid background. It is so cheery. Great idea to turn that single line stamp into PLAID. Too fun.
Fun card, fun envelope! You are so very clever and creating your own patterned plaid paper, amazing!
Susan,
What a darling “peep” card! I just placed an order and the “Hello” stamp is coming to me as a SAB item. Love the plaid. Will certainly have to give this one a try. I have 10 “kiddie” (although the oldest kiddie just turned 23) to make for Easter and this is one I’m going to have to CASE….maybe more than once ;). Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your video.
OH MY GOSH! I am totally blown away with how you made the plaid! So cool! You amaze me! Love it! It may be beyond my capabilities as I do not do well with the stamp a ma jiggy thingy! LOL
