This card came together while I was at a traffic light. Seriously…..I was taking Eddie to the V_TS (remember, he dislikes that word) so we try to say let’s go see Tracey…I had a super busy day yesterday and at the end I will fill you in with Eddie but we need to get to this card!
I knew that I adored the sketch below and was thinking while waiting…..what could I do in a jif – PRESTO….my vision came together perfectly!
It is a card right up my alley….I saw the sketch on the Global Design Project and I had a HUGE smile – this is a FABULOUS sketch and one that you all should keep. I hope that you pop over to the site and see what the amazing design team came up with! FUN challenge1
Easy-peasy is the word for this post! Letting the scored lines be the FUN FACTOR and then the 2″ Circle Punch did the trick with the sentiment from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set. This card is a great example of how “key speed tools” – like the Simply Scored and the Punches make a card like this come together in a cinch!
We all have that “TIME” issue…and you can see that this great sketch lends itself to clean and simple. I say…look at what you have and then GO FOR IT – do not try to recreate the wheel to make it super hard…have FUN!
The sweet little flower with a white perfect accent in the middle….seemed to do the trick perfectly. A super quick stitch around the stamped image helped set it off from the scored layer, fun simple DONE!
Well….not so fast – the envelope – how could we not finish a fun card without the envelope liner! This is from the Brights Designer Series Pack and I have shared with you before that I like to cut mine to a 6″ X 6″ squares as it is easier fro me in storing etc….but I was easily able to do this nice wide (2″) wide piece and also have plenty to line the envelope!
There you go…do you like the simplicity of this card? I know that for many they might be tempted to add on etc...(and trust me, I was going to do that but I stood back and said – DONE)!!! Sometimes you need to just BE DONE…walk away and guess what, you will smile! The sentiment on this card has it all summed up….
LIFE doesn’t have to be perfect to be WONDERFUL
Now to Eddie (real quick)….that little man…those Jack Russell’s are sooooooo smart and fun. We received his blood work results and they were not the best…but they obvious could be worse. Over the weekend he did not eat much at all. He is still drinking out of his horse bucket but he does not have much of an appetite. On Friday he had an antibiotic shot and they wanted to give him another yesterday and also hydrate him with some electrolytes….
When we went to the V_TS, I walked in with the prince all wrapped up and the receptionist called, EDDIE ITELL is here for his antibiotic. The receptionist then told me that the 3 Vet Techs that were working yesterday all wanted Eddie and so it was just going to be the luck of the draw!
His calcium levels are off the chart which makes him feel icky…..but once we can get him to eat something he can start an oral med to help reduce those levels and he should be feeling better. They suggested to just let him have anything….(at this point) to get the orals meds in so he will not get a tummy ache – HE WAS IN CHICKEN HEAVEN…..to the grocery store we went and a Rotisserie Chicken did the trick….he ate little bits of chicken in his glory while the others were eating their dog food.
As the saying goes…one day at a time. He found Mr. Happy (one of his favorite squeak toys) and when we heard the squeak, John and I said….he’s feeling better!

Hi Susan, Yes, I like this card very much! Great for any occasion.
🙂
Forgot to mention . . . I’m happy Eddie ate some chicken. 🙂
You have shown once again that simple can still be fun, look great and not take up lots of time! I love this card, it’s a keeper for sure! You are so funny, Susan, with your (V_TS) as if Eddie can tell what you’re writing to us! I’m so glad you found out what’s making him feel bad and getting some good meds into him so he can be back to his old self real soon. Thanks for the update~
Great card today. I love the scoring to make a simple card pop. I’ll be CASEing this soon. Cheers for Eddie to feel better.
Yup in this case less is best! Love the card that came in the mail yesterday from you Susan! Load up on chicken.
Honestly Susan, did you think I was going to pay attention to the card until I read about Eddie? I had to scroll down and check on your son first! Did Eddie share any of the chicken with you and John for supper? He looks so cute there in command at his fireplace bunk complete with toy! I guess we all have our ups and downs these days with illness.
The card is simply well done! I love the Pacific Blue color – so crisp looking with the white! I ordered another 2″ circle punch from my local demo so I can still be in for the hostess goodies when it’s my turn. She was going to have it come directly to my house since I told her I needed it this week. We will see…. Anyway, the scoring is so fun mimicking a lined legal pad. The itty bitty flower is perfect though somehow I think I would have been tempted to use a bright yellow center for the flower. Anyway, well done and so glad Eddie made it to the V word and all.
LOVE your card – and love hearing about your little Eddie !
Wonderful card! I will use this idea when making valentine cards with my son’s class tomorrow afternoon…perfect timing…thanks! I love how you “stitch” on your cards…I’m a sewing person, too, so I love the look :). I’m glad Eddie is enjoying his chicken :). Stay warm today!
Absolutely l-o-v-e your card today. I’m a simple card lover too. I’m sure I’ll be case-Ing this. (You are going to smile when you see the valentine I sent you.)
I hope Eddie gets better soon!
Clean and simple……I love this card! I got my Simply Scored board out yesterday and relocated it to a place I can easily reach for it. Even though I don’t comment too often, I really love your blog, it’s the first thing I look for every day!
I read your updates on Eddie and say a little prayer for him. We lost our beloved Jack Russell, Mojo, in October. Sure do enjoy hearing about Eddie and seeing his sweet pictures.
Great card…going to use the layout for a Valentine card to my granddaughter! Just love Eddie and hope he rebounds quickly.
Susan, you make simple look wonderful! I loved reading your thought process and steps in making this card. Thanks for playing at Global Design Project this week. I hope Eddie is on the mend now xox
Perfect CAS card Susan! The scoring is a fabulous way to make the white space seem less “vacant”. Hugs to Eddie, hope the chicken works it’s magic and he is able to play with Mr. Happy without an upset tummy.
Easy peasy card yet very simple. All those score lines!
Absolutely beautiful CAS card Susan. Hugs to Eddie for a speedy recovery. Xoxo
Love this card, the score lines are fabulous.
Hi, Susan. Love the scored background and the simple look of this card. Thanks for playing with Global Design Project.
Susan – I love the scored lines and the monochromatic appeal of this card. Gorgeous! Thank you so much for playing along with this week’s Global Design Project Sketch Challenge!
