Happy…happy Thursday to you! Thursday are HAPPY DAYS for me as it is when the Pals Paper Art Challenge is and today is a sketch challenge and a great one at that I hope that you can grab an extra cup of coffee and pop over to the site to see what the other design team members came up with and then find some “me” time and play along!
Today’s sketch was designed by Patti MacLeith and it is a very fun one that can be interpreted in many ways! While I have been gone, I have been trying to send John some cards and this one was literally a 5 minute whip up wonder!
Remember how we have chatted many times about using up your DSP? Today’s card is a great example of doing just that! Look at how super simple this card it! It simply does not get any easier than this!
A top fold vertical card with a POP of color from the Bohemian Designer Series Paper. This colors are so rich and luscious – This piece is a 3 3/4″ square and then I just took a scrap of Rich Razzleberry which is 1/4″.
Being that I am away and do not have all of my supplies with me, I used the heart from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies but I would have used the sweetheart punch if I was at home…(I guess I am being lazy as it is so easy to PUNCH a heart) but this works just great!
Taking the Rich Razzleberry pen and making tiny dots around the hearts edge as well as the sentiment was the perfect yet subtle touch. You can see how simple this is and then you can see that you can use so many different papers and sentiments to create all sorts of cards!
Let’s chat about the sentiment…..it is from the Happy Home Stamp Set. This is available as a bundle and YEP – I would purchase this one in the bundle form. I know that I have not used this set a bunch, (that’s why I have it with me as I hope to use it) but I adore the font and the simplicity of the sentiments and fonts.
Have you ever made a card that you are very happy with but the pictures just do not do it justice? Well ~ this is how I feel about this card….it really is a fun and clean and simply card and I encourage you to try this layout. Sometimes the simplest things work out to be the best!
I know when John receives this …he will smile – he enjoys simple cards. I think that when we do something like this card we feel guilty because it was so simple. Why do we do that to ourselves? I know that I am guilty of this….anyone else out there?
I hope to see you back here tomorrow as I will be sharing with you the card that I will send to you with an order of $35.00 + from me this month (March) along with a new hostess code. I think that you will like it….and smile! Just think….we are in the final weeks of Sale-a-bration….so please make sure you do not get disappointed in not taking advantage of the great FREEBIES that are available until the end of the month!
Enjoy the day….I plan to…..Please pop over to the Pals Paper Art and see the fun…there are some AMAZING works of art!

Super adorable! I feel another CASE coming on. 🙂
P.S. Thanks for the measurements. I think it’s great you are sending cards to John…I’m sure he loves it!
Love the simplicity! You always know “just the thing” to take it to wow! Perfect little dot borders!
What a sweetheart you are to send John cards every day when you are away. Speaking of hearts, I didn’t remember that the heart with the mini treat bag was that big – I will definitely check that out as I don’t have the punch and occasionally need a heart about that size. I hand cut it via the way we cut hearts as a kid. Anyway, love this card for the rich colors and simplicity. This will work wonderfully as a quick thank you card. Gotta quick check out what the other Pals did before I do a couple things before I go to work. Mary’s comment says up beautifully!
This is a great simple card. This design is so versatile that with the change of sentiment it could be for several occasions. Have a great day.
Sweet idea and simply wonderful card!
Stunning card! I am guilty of feeling guilty for making a simple card. Now that I’ve given some themed box cards, flip cards, and other more complex creations, I feel that I have to meet or exceed the complexity of the cards I’ve given recently. This is a great example of simple that packs a punch. Thanks for the reminder.
What a wonderful card. LOVE that rich color. This is so simple and comes out so stunning.
Clean, simple and so stylish!
Oh so cute!! Just love how clean and simple this card is!! ….and what an impact!! Fabulous!!!
Susan, when I grow up I want to be as awesome as a card maker as you. Until then, I’ll keep learning from you. Thank you for always sharing your tips & tricks. =)
Clean and lovely, Susan!
