Here is a super quick and easy “happy card” for you today! By now you know that I love polka dots….and these are polka dots in my eyes….just LARGER!!!!! Today for the Pals Paper Art Challenge I took a fun twist on today’s challenge!
You have to play with this challenge as the color combo is sooooo fun! Fellow PAL, Michelle Quinno’s color combination is super and WOW – pop over to the Pals Paper Art site and see what the design team came up with…FUN!
At first glance you probably thought that I used punches for this card…but NOPE, I used the circle framelits so I could “get into the middle” – I have just been itchin’ to do a card like this and with this color palette – it worked out great!
Because I adhered it to to a crumb cake base…it was super easy to adhere! Just think of the color combinations you could do….the sky is the limit! Wouldn’t it be stunning in black and white with a POP color?
No dimensionals or foam needed today…I let the boldness of the paper be the star.
Here is the 911 on the card….please PIN away for future reference and have fun making this clean card….no sentiment needed on the outside…just let the colors and circles be your shining star!
I am guilty….I used to use Crumb Cake a bunch…..(not sure why I went away from it) but I was happy that Michelle chose this for her challenge! I love the fact that we have envelopes that match it perfectly! The envelope liner framelit to the rescue…DONE!
I know that I do not share with you the “insides” often…but here you go! Cottage Greetings and I have been like “peanut butter and jelly” – a fun sentiment!
I hope that your day is wonderful and that I hope that you make someone smile!
- I cut the random circles out and the end result was the “Swiss Cheese” looking paper…
- I then cut circles out in the colors (use your scraps)
- For the circles that go “outside” of the edge…I adhered a small piece of tape to hold it in place and snipped off.
- I adhered the “Swiss Cheese” onto the piece of Crumb Cake
- I the used green glue to add my circles
I hope that this helps….sounds like I should do a video on it – I think it is super cute and fun. I totally agree with using punches would be easier….but you cannot get the punches into the center of the area. It goes super fast and it is super fun! 🙂

LOVE this card – so simple yet so crisp! The colors are amazing! Thank you so much!
First I thought, “Wheeee! What a happy, adorable card!” Next I thought, “Hey! What a cool new cutting die!” Finally, I thought, “Well! isnt that just about the cleverest way to use my circle dies? Why didn’t I ever think of that?” Brilliant card, Susan!
Susan, what was your process for assembling and trimming the die cut circles and panel? For example, did you tape the circles in place on the backside and then trim the edges? Thanks!
Adorable and fun! The white cutout (before adding the DSP) reminds me of a piece of Swiss cheese. Have a great day!
Very creative use of the framelits! Love it!
So then you cut the circles in your DSP with the framlit and then attached them with what? Looks like it would have been easier to use punches. Just saying. Thanks for the card, it is stunning.
This is such a fun creative card, Susan. I love the DSP and solids in the challenge colors. So simple, yet perfect for many occasions. I love the sentiment and the little flowers on the inside. Thanks for showing us the diecut sheet. It makes it easier to envision exactly how you did it. Have a great day.
Love your card – and the inside too with your cute signature 3 dots !
So fun! The colors and the pattern of dots just put a smile on my face. Love it! You go girl!
Oh, that Bermuda Bay…..haha makes me feel the warm beach every time! Great color combo and I love your card. A fun surprise as at first glance I thought the polka dots were paper punched. I think I will be using this idea!! Thanks Susan!!!!!
A card after my own heart! I’m a polka dot lover too. Great colors + great design = fun card. Love the blocks of color too. Great job & so simple!
Love this ! My kind of fun ….using negative space . Really creative and love the colors ! I love Polka Dots too ! These are super sized ones !
Now this is fun! At first I thought ok you punched out circles and put them on the card, Cute but big whoop?!? Then, I see the “swiss cheese” photo and wondered what the heck, you couldn’t punch those out especially in the center area. So, I figured you had to use the framelits but then I thought wow, that is cool! The close up looks like the circles are embossed around the cut out circles – am I right? Gee, when I do punch out circles for another project maybe I can plan around it and make a smaller card with the negative “cheesy” part! I like how you used the crumb cake as a mat – just sort of pulled it all together. Really a fun card using those colors! Love the envelope and that inside is just too cute! You are just too cleaver! Reminds me of blowing bubbles or the song, “Tiny Bubbles!” Made me smile!
Great card, Susan! You are right that is is fun, fresh and modern. Love the way you’ve created the Swiss cheese look. 🙂
Great card!!! Love the “swiss cheese”! Question… you have me stumped on “Green Glue”.
Hi Rae…you made me smile…I know it is silly but I call the Mono glue…”green glue” – thanks for the comment – I think that it is a FUN card….ideas are endless!
Love the added texture that the framelits gave your cardstock! This is fresh and fun!
Susan, your card is simply fabulous! I love everything about these colors and all the pop you created, simply wonderful idea, it really made me smile! Thank you for sharing such a lovely card with us this week!
