Good Morning! I told you yesterday that I was going to teach you some more great cards using squares! Well…here you go – this is what I call a smile card….why? – easy = it is just so sweet and can be used for so many different occasions you might have in sending a card to someone!
I love this card so much that I am going to share with you the dimensions quickly! The sky is the limit with the different DSP you can use and AGAIN…we are STILL ON THE USE UP YOUR DSP TRAIN…..I personally can see the caboose in sight (well kinda) – how about YOU…how are you doing?
Another thing that is great to…use (2) different DSP’s for your squares…this give a fun effect but today, I wanted a totally monochromatic card. They always seem to be so clean and classic.
I personally made this card to bring some “sunshine” to a dear friend that is going through a medical scare. Yellow always perks me up…how about you? I know that many of you might frown about putting a button on a card because of mailing but I have 2 thoughts about this.
- You already have to put extra postage on this card because it is a square card, I would put a little “cushion” over the button just in case (also ask your postmaster to hand stamp it)
- It is super cute. I realize that many of us (including myself) do not use a bunch of buttons (maybe this is why they are on the retired list) but seeing a button like this, truly gives a special handmade feel
Do you remember when we chatted before about using the beeswax with bakers twine to make you Bakers Twine behave! The above picture is what I am talking about…it makes beautiful bows and it also lets the “tails” of the bows go right where you want them to.
The other thing that really is one that I want you to think about….do you see how nice and clean my cuts are on the twine….the answer easy = CRAFT SCISSORS…these truly are a must have as you will never get a bad cut when using them. Remember, they are on the “walking the plank” list so do not delay!
I made my envelope with the envelope punch board and actually I used the corner rounder on the end to round my 1″ squares. I love that corner rounder as it gives a great, clean cut and it is one less tool to have out.
I have shared this before but….here you go again….if you have the envelope paper – give it a try…I am kicking myself that I always used my card stock to make my own envelopes in white and very vanilla…using the envelope papers makes BEAUTIFUL envelopes and it is so easy to use…..it also is walking the plank!
As promised…let’s get to the dimensions for you 🙂 I hope that you make this card and then what I really hope if that you will send me a picture of your card.
I ADORE seeing your work so please snap a picture of if and send it to me….I will make a personal deal with you….anyone that sends me a picture of this card that YOU made…I will send you a card like today’s (now…I might use different colors etc…but it will be the same, button and all) Please remember to send me your address so I know where to mail your card to.
- The card base is a 4″ square
- The crushes curry is a 3 3/4″ square
- The DSP (from the Cherry on Top DSP Stack) is a 3 1/2″ square
- The crushed curry inside square is a 2 3/8″ square
- The white is a 2 1/4″ square
- (4) 1″ squares using the punch and then certain corners rounded with the envelope punch board or you could easily use a corner rounder
Well…there you go – EASY PEASY!!!! You can see that I did the button and bow thing and I used glue dots to hold it in place. I just love those little babies!
If you want to take my personal challenge, please do not feel that you need to find a button…I just want to encourage and inspire you to make a fun and easy card so YOU can smile that YOU did it! I thank you for your time…I love what I do and just what – I LOVE TEACHING YOU….you an do it,,,,I know it! Have a fabulous day!
Wow. This is a bright and beautiful card! I love the effect given by using the corner rounder punch. Great job! Hope your friend gets better soon.
This is a sweet card. Love the patchwork effect. It reminds me of some of my favorite quilt patterns. Definitely will give it a try. Thanks for sharing the dimensions you used.
This is a cute, fun card, Susan. I love using the corner punch on the envelope punch. Thanks for all your tips. Sending good thoughts for your friend in hopes she feels better soon.
What a sweet card! And thanks for your dementions. This would be a fun quick card to produce in larger quantities for all occasions.
Great card ! I love rounding the corners on squares ,but have not done it in ages . Thank you for reminding me !
Warm thoughts to your friend .
For once I am ahead of the curve *well, yours anyway) – I actually used the corner rounder punch on a card yesterday! Otherwise, it has been awhile since I have used it. I really like this card – both DP work so well together plus the cute button. I used to use buttons a lot but have seemed to hoard the rest. I just love all those delicious layers on here. Oh crap, I am almost craving curried chicken salad with your use of the Crushed Curry color and the word delicious! I think the new colors don’t have yummy food names, I guess I don’t remember their names except something to do with a flamingo, denim, and emerald. I is bad enough I want some vanilla custard or ice cream when I use it rather than white! Great job as always!
Oh Yes! Worth the wait, Miss Susan! Love this card and yellow is a happy color! Your friend will surely smile when they receive it!
Hi Susan, oh this card was worth the wait. I think Ill try a monochromatic square card with a button today . . . oh does that sound like a CASE? Ha. Ha. I’ll send a pic if I get to it. I hope your friend is better soon. I also hope you are enjoying your few days away, hope it was with John, (and not business). 🙂
I Love your monochromatic yellow card today, Susan! That dp along with the button treatment make this such a fun card! Certainly worth casing~
I love this! It is the monochromatic color scheme that does it for me.
