Woot-Woot, it’s the weekend and it is time for Simple Saturday! I call this a “formula” card and one that I would sketch off and save it for the future! Why do I say “formula” – to me that means that it is a “keeper” as you can change the focal portion and the sentiment….BAM – another great card 🙂
I have been using the Cottage Greetings Stamp Set a bunch lately….and I think that you can see why….it is a keeper and I just adore the sentiments and fonts! Heck, I love it so much, I think I might build a kit around it.
I have some fun pictures for you and I hope that they inspire you and see that SIMPLE WORKS….this card is one that can be whipped up in no time and also a card that you could easily MASS PRODUCE…and just leave the sentiment off until you need a specific card!
You know that I adore single stamps as I think that they are practical, great price point and simply timeless. I think that many of you overlook the single stamps as you at a glance do not see the longevity and practicality of them.
I find that I use my single stamps as much or even more than my stamp sets….having a punch that fits it perfectly is the icing on the cake!
One tip that I will share with you….when you are doing a card like this, I always like to stamp the flower twice…mount one flat and then layer the upper one with dimensionsals ~ this way it give the flower “movement” and a fun touch!
I used the 1/2″ circle punch to pull the Bohemian DSP and then an accent to the center…so simple and so sweet!
To me…the other real star if this card is the embossing folder. Darn I forget about using them….does this happen to you? I will say that once I do…I LOVE the end result. The depth of texture is fabulous!
Here you go again….another shot of the card….clean and classic…just the way I like it (perhaps you can say that this is a “safe zone” for me” but that is how I roll! I also think that using Very Vanilla paper adds an element of “instant warmth”….
Now you know that I could not end a post without sharing with you how I “dressed” up the envelope. Well…how do you like it? This is a fun way and a change that will definaltly make the mailman smile (amd probably scratch his head in how did someone do that)
That’s the beauty of what we do….we always have tricks up our sleeves!
I hope to see you back her tomorrow to see how a stepped it up a bit…you might like it…you might like today’s card better…that is what is GREAT we always have choices! Enjoy your Saturday….we are to get flurries…COLD weather again and very windy! Sounds like a great day to stay inside and stamp!

Fun card…love all the layers and textures. Love the formula!
I love my “snipsisters” – thanks for always making me smile!
Great formula and definitely a keeper! Love how you balanced the card with the embossing folder. Brrr….Have fun-filled day! ❄️
My favorite sheep herder….I love cards like this that can be whipped up in a jif!!!
I am going to have to get my very vanilla card stock out and my embossing folders out, I always for get to use them also. 🙁 When you “build a kit” what does that mean? Thanks for sharing your talents. Blessings
I hear you…I hear you – I often forget about Very Vanilla and I must say – I love the softness and richness it gives. I am the worse in forgetting about using embossing folders but I must say = I love the effect. What I meant about a “kit” is that create “kits” and I love this stamp set….I think that it is FILLED with fabulous sentiments and I am crazy about the fonts….have a wonderful day!
Susan,I love this card. It is a keeper. I love the dsp and the embossing folder. I think the E/B folders are great. You are always so talented. Have fun and stamp all day. Your fur babies will enjoy your company. Hugs,Ellen Hinds
Hi Ellen…seeing an Ellen comment always makes my day…you are truly the sweetest! Thanks for the sweet comment and I am glad that you like it – I need to put my embossing folders FRONT and CENTER to remind me to use them more! Hugs my friend!
Great card today. I love the pop of color and how easy it will be to duplicate this. I’m always interested to see how you step it up tomorrow. We’re having the same kind of crazy weather you are. Warm hugs.
Winter today….Rain tomorrow…SPRING????? Thanks for popping in!
Was just thinking about pulling out the hexagon folder. Definitely will give this a try. Thanks for all your tips. Look forward to the stepped up version tomorrow.
Susan, I love this stamp and punch . Would you believe I have a box of already punched out flowers in different colors to go to for a quick card !! I just have to get that Cottage Greetings set . I have it on my GRAB list because I love the fonts and who knows it may be on that RETIRED list soon.
It is cold here in N.C. too ! My Humming Birds are not happy . They just arrived ….no sooner had they gotten to the feeder and bam ! We had freeze warnings last night ! Hope they brought beak warmers with them. We will have 55 by mid day ….thank goodness !
Great card! I love that it is so bright and cheerful. We are going to a kids play (“Horrible Harry”) a little later today. Caleb is so excited that he can’t sit still…he’s bouncing around the house like a kangaroo. I’m going to try to email you later today. Have a wonderful day! I can’t wait to see tomorrow’s Stepped-Up version of your card!
I always try to imagine what your step up will be on Sunday and this time I just can’t see past how much I just like this card!!! I bet you will surprise me for sure but really….I ❤️ this card! Stay warm down there….we got snow twice this past week…..the best part is it won’t last!! Right? ?
Yep, just like Tricia said, bright and cheery. I love all the textures. Looking forward to seeing tomorrow’s version. I don’t think I have that punch or stamp. I think I could get a lot of mileage out of them. You are right, a good formula to have.
We had the little ice pellets and gusty winds this week and I think they finally moved east. We still have cold but at least the wind is out of here. It was pretty funny to see Ted’s ears flying out straight when we walked!
