Good Morning! Here you go…..Lisa enabled me to share with you the 411 of her card! Below you will see her card and then we will get to a bunch of pictures of my take with the super sweet elephant…..he is sooooo darn adorable!
As promised…today I shared with you that I was going to attempt to CASE Lisa Poe’s card that she submitted for the swap…and here is my take – I hope that you like it! If you do not like it….I know one thing that you will be happy about….all of the dimensions! Please give Lisa some love in your comments for graciously sharing all of the dimensions for this super fun card!
Base and inside dimensions (under the flap) of card:
- Base Card – Sahara Sand in good old A-2 card…. 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″
- Layer – In Color DSP Stack in Sweet Sugarplum…5 1/4″ X 4″
- Layer – Sahara Sand 4″ X 2 1/2″
- Layer – Thick Whisper White 3 3/4″ X 2 1/4″ (then stamped in gray with the Layering Love Sentiment
- Flap – 4 1/2″ X 1 3/4″ in So Saffron and embossed with the Happy Hearts folder (TIP – I am not sure if Lisa did this but I scored it at 1/2″ and then ran it through the Big Shot)…..I admit, being the type “A” person I am…..after embossing it, I cut off a bit of the front to have the hearts perfect!
Layers attached to flap:
- Layer – Sahara Sand – 4″ X 2 1/2″
- Layer – So Saffron – 3 3/4″ X 2 1/4″
- Layer – Thick White – 3 1/2″ X 2″ (stamped with the ADORABLE Elephant in gray ink)
Well guys…you know me…I am SIMPLE SUSAN…and I will say – in the end – this was a FUN card and I thank you Lisa for sharing with me the dimensions so all of you can create amazing cards!
Let’s chat a bit about this ADORABLE Elephant – is he the cutest or what! This is a Hostess Stamp Set and trust me, it is easier than you think to get this…please email me and I will be happy to put my “thinking cap” on and help you get this in no time….heck it is just $9.00 and it is OVER THE TOP ADORABLE!
When you open up the “flap” – the super fun and oh so true sentiment of “enjoy the little things” seemed to be the appropriate sentiment for this card – now this new stamp set is a keeper! I love big & bold sentiments….
I hope that you can see from the below photo that this is a whole card and then the “flap” is just tucked behind the polka dot DSP….SOOOOO cute! I adore Fast Fuse (yep, there is a learning curve but once you get around that turn….it will be your best friend) This adhesive holds everything super tight.
Because I used a neutral, Sahara Sand…you can just go ahead and write your note in the card but if you used a dark color base….I would add a layer of white to write!
Mailman LOVE X 2 – the outer elephant in the corner and then the envelope flap. Icing on the cake! I just think that the little mouse is so sweet looking up to his friend.
Here is your 411 of the card…and I do hope that you try this… – if you do, please email me a picture of your card as I love to see your work. Again, a HUGE thank you to Lisa for the inspiration for today’s post!
Think about this….isn’t it wonderful that there is soooo much talent out there and that we can share to each other from the comforts of our home things that make us tick and smile! Sharing is great….Sharing is fun….Sharing makes us a better person.
Yesterday was a blast. Well…anytime with Jeanie is a blast. We have been friends for a long time and when we part…my heart is filled with joy, laughter and a simple “we need to get together more often” – I am sure that many of you can relate to this. That TIME thing seems to get the best of us…but I can say – it was GREAT!
We made some super fun cards and I will share with you some. It is wonderful to be together with people that have the same passion and come home with GREAT cards!
Long day but fun day….I hope to see you tomorrow!

Your card is a great take on Lisa’s sweet card. I love that the front flap opens to the sentiment. I always like to write a note in my cards and the inside is available for that. I like the colors and the elephant stamp. I can see you hoping to have an elephant join your farm!! LOL! Have a super Sunday!
Such a cute card!
I am speechless – this card is AWESOME and can’t thank you and Lisa enough for taking the time to give us all of the detail. THANKS SO MUCH!
Love this ! That stamp set is sitting in my stamp room un-inked and I have one of Lisa`s cards on my counter waiting to be CASED (she is my Swap Buddy ) so now I have an adorable card waiting to be made !! I am a lover of “folds” and Lisa has mailed me her “Fab Fold ” cards before and I get so excited when I receive them !
So now it will be Sonny`s sunny Sunday because I will be doing a Susan/Lisa C.A.S.E. this afternoon !
Overwhelmed and honored is the best way to describe my feelings. A heartfelt THANK YOU SUSAN! That you thought my card was good enough to CASE and spotlight on your blog. Kudos on your take of the card. Super cute. I do hope everyone will give this a try. You’ll be hooked once you make one. So fun to make. I want to thank everyone for all the kind comments. Also to everyone that might post later. A special shout out to Sonny my swap buddy. Also to Maria (another swap buddy) if you see this later. The world of card making is FANTASTIC and the people are so SPECIAL! Have a wonderful Sunday. Susan you are a SUPER SPECIAL woman!
Cute card! That Love You Lots stamp is adorable and perfect for the size of the panel. Thanks to you and Lisa for sharing all the details. Can’t wait to try it!
Thanks to Lisa, for being willing to share her card and recipe for making it with everyone. And thanks to you, Susan, for always being willing to showcase other crafters’ ideas and give them such praise. I love your card too and will surely be CASE’ing Lisa’s idea and your take on it! TFS!!
Thank you Lisa for sharing the “how to” for your adorable card, and Susan for the fabulous share and version of your own. I can’t wait to make my own! So much fun!!!
Love your sweet version of Lisa’s beautiful card. This is a great layout that would work so well for every occasion. Thanks to both of you for passing the dimensions on. I will give this a try.
What a great card and the elephant and mouse are super adorable! Thank you Lisa for sharing all the instructions and your idea. So very thoughtful of you. Enjoy the day!
Susan, Both of these cards are amazing. Lisa is a supert-alent – I adore everything she makes. She’s super-sweet to boot! Love the way this card is constructed!
Lisa is absolutely right about this card being addictive. As mentioned yesterday I received her card in Susan’s card swap and have made several. They are easy and fun and I thank her again for the card and the “card recipe” she included in it. A great idea of Lisa’s to include the dimensions in her card. I will try to remember that in the next swap I enter.
Quick question, if I send it to a noncardmaking friend, how do they know to to lift the flap as there is still an inside part to the card, right? I spend a lot of time one time making a card where they had to lift a flap or do something but they didn’t do that and totally missed the best part of the card. Luckily I E-mailed her to ask what she thought about the “Yippee Skippy” part as she used to say that a lot. She wrote back puzzled and said she fished the envelope our of the trash and didn’t see any piece that fell off that said that.
Anyway, both of these cards are really fun and I am going to try this. Lisa, I love the papers and colors you used – so pretty. Thank you for sharing the details. I had to smile Susan when you said you cut off a little piece to line the hearts up better on the embossed part. I did that at a CTMH class last month and the demo just stared at me asking me what I was doing. I told her I wanted the space on the hearts at the top and bottom to be more unified. I had some strange looks from a couple people but one agreed and did the same! Swap buddies – sounds fun!
Hi Chris, good question. One I had not of. I think because the vertical piece isn’t attached to the base, the receipient will be able to tell it flips open. I appreciate your kind comments. Lisa
Oh my gosh!!!!! Lisa’s card is amazing, she is one of my dear card swapping buddies and I have a card, made just like this one, sitting pretty on the shelf in my craft room.
She is a dear and fabulous friend and she and Sonny Peterson, who is another awesome swap buddy, swap cards very often, her cards have often fun folds like this one and I love them.
My next card swap will be a CASE of her card, so thank you Susan for featuring my friend’s card on your blog and thank you Lisa for sharing this beautiful card with us.
Big hugs to you guys.
Maria.
Oh I can’t wait to see what you come up with Maria. I always appreciate and value your thoughts. Thank you.
this is really neat! thanks so much for sharing!!
Oh my gosh, first that pensive looking frog and now this storybook elephant. I must have this set! I love that you offer to “put on your thinking cap” to help people order a hostess set. Such a nice service you offer. I’m saving up for a big order. Anyway…. love that front flap and your job CASEing Lisa.
I adore this image of the elephant and the mouse it’s precious and my favorite although that frog in the set is adorable too. I like the way you made the flap to open under the picture of the two looking at each other.
