Hello all and HAPPY HUMP DAY! I was in the mood to just do something different so I decided that today would be a “WING IT WEDNESDAY”, being that I just looked at what I first saw and said – CREATE SOMETHING!
Well….there is was, my Washi Tape…the Washi Tape was the victim for the day! I then thought, this is PERFECT as so many of you buy it but then I hear you do not use it…well, we need to do something that. I can remember when Stampin’ Up! first came out with it I thought….”What the heck is this stuff”, I truly thought that it was a fad but it is still around and going strong!
Today’s card is like a “little black dress” – it would work for just about any occasions, all you would need to do is to dress it UP…or dress it DOWN and leave it super simple. Just think of all of the sentiments that are out there!
Because this stamp set, Better Together is NOT a photopolymer, I did use the stamp-a-ma-jig for ease of sentiment placement….remember, this piece of plastic IS your friend….do not toss it across the room!!!! Keep working with it!!! Check out this stamp set it you do not already have it…it is what I call a KEEPER! Love the variety of fonts!
Let’s get right to this simple card..a triple stamp of the sentiment with a simple mat…and accent rectangle behind – BAM….the STAGE HAS BEEN SET IN A JIF! Now I ask you, could YOU do this!?!?! In the next 2 pictures you will see how I built the platform for the stage…now get ready…it is really, really hard – pull out a piece of scraps, 4″ X 5 1/4″ and put tape down ~ THAT IS IT!
I know that some people like to cut off the Washi Tape, I like to just roll it to the back and stick it. I would recommend using a super strong adhesive like the Fast Fuse or Tear and Tape as that seems to hold well against the washi tape if you are matting it to a base.
It truly does not get any simpler than this and still even though it is simple, there is a WOW to it. I invite you to think if ANY card you create to be a WOW because it came from YOU…that in itself is super special and I think that many times we forget about giving ourself credit for making our own works of art!
Here is your 411 – Directory Assistance photo for you to hover over and pin away! I know that this DSP has a very modern feel to it but the think I really like about it is that it pairs with Very Vanilla. I am thrilled that Stampin’ Up! has many DSP’s that work with Very Vanilla!
In closing….we are getting to the end of the Month – YIKES…that means that the holidays are creeping up but that also means that the new Catalog will be here for you to order from! YIPPEE!!!!! Please remember that there are (3) things going on….so here is your reminder!!!!! Enjoy the day!
- Thoughtful Branches Bundle – this BEAUTIFUL SET (I would get the bundle) is only available until the end of the month – YIKES….that is just DAYS!!!!! If you are on the edge – go to pinterest and take a look….no doubt that you will see the beauty!
- My Product Share Offering – I will start sending out Pay Pal Invoices over the weekend – and TRUST ME. I will be like Cinderella and order when the clock strikes midnight – this is THE BEST way to get a “taste of the fun” without breaking your bank. (make sure you see the many offerings I have)

Susan, I really like this simple card with a “wow” factor. Thanks for the tip about using the grid paper to line up the washi tape. Have a great day.
Thanks…you are an “early bird” I think that using Washi Tape up is a great feeling but at the same time it gives a super quick and easy WOW! Have a great day!
Well done and fun colors! Great idea with washi tape and the tip on how to place it. I seldom use mine but this card really inspired me to go outside the box….definitely will try this. Thanks, Susan, and have a colorful day!
I just knew that this would hit a spot for make! We love to see out FUN WASHI TAPE…..but now it is time to USE IT!!!! Go for it my friend!
love Washi Tape ! Collect tons of Washi Tape , but I have been slow to put on my cards . I use it a lot on envelopes (which might not be the best due to how easy it is to peel off ) I do use it a lot in my Happy Planner !
Thanks for this cute card idea and the grid paper tip ! Gonna case it !
CASE away my friend….am I going to see you in Atlanta? I hope so, I would love a Sonny hug!
Susan, I love this idea for using washi tape! TFS!
Thanks for the comment….I will say, using the grid paper helps with the lining up!
You are the best enabler! I just received 5, yes 5, packages or washi tape! That’s 23 rolls! I only had one and well, I went a bit overboard! I love all your ideas on how to use this tape! I better get busy! Thanks Susan!
PS. You are so very clever! I love your “Wing It Wednesday”
I am laughing….when I went to type up my post I was scratching my head….WING IT just seemed to work as that is exactly what I did!
I hope that you bought some of the Christmas ones….they are ADORABLE!!!
Super clever!!!! This is another keeper. I am thinking Halloween today…..must give it a try!!!! ?
PERFECT for Halloween….if you have dome dies…wrap the washi around – Fast, Fun & DONE!
What are dome dies???? I tried to google…….but nada!!!! I feel like I must be missing something I should know. ?
I bet that is a typo and should be SOME dies? I have this image of the Halloween Washi tapes with the pumpkins or witch die popped out and on top of the tapes for a fast and easy card!
This card is so sweet and simple. It’s great! Thanks to you I’ve been using that washi tape on more and more things. I’ve made a commitment to use it especially on my envelope flaps as I can’t send a card any longer without some adornment! Thanks Susan!!
You made me smile…I know that we are all in the same boat…we buy the washi and then it sits – it is time to use it up!!!! I totally agree, it is PERFECT for envelope love!
Wing Ding Wednesday – oh, sorry Wing it Wednesday sounds like a winner! Maybe the llama can walk through like the camel but I guess the llama doesn’t have a hump to go on about hump day. Whatever. I am just a bit excited as I love this card. I really never looked at that set even when you have used it before. I LOVE “The best part of the season is keeping in touch with you!” My gosh, that is totally me! Last night at card club we made a super simple washi tape card too that was so easy but oh so fun. Mine had 5 strips of the tape that was retired had little dots on it with the 2015-2017 in colors. The background was the Cucumber Crush and the tapes were on the diagonal on white. Then we took a little square of the background color and punched out a butterfly. The negative square went on the card over the tapes so they showed through the butterfly. Stamped happy hello at the bottom right hand corner. Easy peasy but fun to make and fun to send! That concept would work fun with the new Halloween tapes that I saw on a holiday catalog haul. You could punch out something or just apply the with or anything on there. But, Christmas has more Washi tapes and you could punch out something there like the old mitten punch that a bunch of us bought and was discontinued as fast as it came along. Or, the stocking? Or, just a negative cut out of a circle and make it like an ornament with the tapes showing through. Boy, I seem to be on a creative binge, better get off the computer and make something while I have the whim!
GO Chris GO….I say, when you have that creative thing going…..KEEP GOING! If you can, send me a picture of your card you made – it sounds super!
Will do. We used the butterfly punch and the butterfly itself would have looked cute on the card instead of the negative but I have this problem punching and it flew off the table and rolled under the table and with her baby (Grant) and a cat – I have learned not to pick things up from under the table. I hope that one time it was a hair ball from the cat and not the baby spitting up hair. Usually if it is a food item I know it is Grant’s. Also, you learn to keep your shoes on too! Soggy Cheerios are not fun to dig your toes into!
Hi Susan, This is a great use of the washi tape. I do like it very much. I love the repeating sentiment the best! Also, I loved your twine tip yesterday, just couldn’t post on it. I went to Michael’s to shop for a bag of spools to rewind mine, but couldn’t find any there. I’ll keep my eye open for them somewhere else.
🙂
YEAH – I am glad that I struck a creative smile with the washi – Let me put my thinking cap on for a source for the spools – I will be happy to send some to you once I get into the trenches with the product shares!!!
