I’m back with a winner of a card!!!

Happy Tuesday to you and I admit….I was fearful that I was going to forget how to blog!!! I think that this is the absolute longest that I have gone from blogging but please do not think that I have not been busy…as the Product Share Orders kept me full time each day and they are all complete and OUT THE DOOR! (whew, a great feeling !!!)

Life on Randall Lane has been busy and I feel like there are sooooooo many “funnies” to share with you and I will on another day as I think you will laugh….BIG TIME with some of the shenanigans that have been going on with the critters!  Poor Daisy Mae…she is a grumpy piggy with the heat and my family thinks I spoil her with air conditioning….heck I say – a girl has to do what a girl needs to do! I promise I will share as I know you enjoy my animal stories!

Today I have for you a card that I think is going to make you smile, well at least I hope so! When I am woking on Product Shares, I get to know the new products really well! I watch sooooo many videos while cutting and sorting! It is funny, products that I did not give much emphasis to clearly make me look at it differently and this bundle is one that perked my interest…the Serene Garden Bundle.

You have heard me blog about this before but here it is again…I adore looking at the catalog for inspiration as the amazing pictures of projects in the catalog will make you have a “spring board” to start your creative juices to flow! (page 166) I think the thing that intrigued me about attempting to make todays card was the Pool Party pop of color around the stamped image.

The coloring on this card was all done with the Stampin’ Blends. They make coloring a breeze. One question I am asked many times is…what colors do I need? Hang tight as you might think I am being over board on this one but here you go….YOU NEED THEM ALL! Yep, you heard me…you need them all as I just cannot imagine sitting down to work on a project and being limited to waht you can do and what you cannot do because of the color options!

The Blends (page page 205) are an alcohol based marker that makes coloring as fun as the day when you were a “grasshopper” and got the new box of Crayola Crayons (now THIS IS a great memory as getting a new box felt like you hit the jackpot). They come in a light and a dark but I would just look at the column on the right and purchase them as a combo pack as you DO WANT both the light and dark of each coloring offering!

WHY DID THEY DO THIS LIKE THIS??? Easy….you will see that you will gravitate and use certain colors more than others, just like we do with our cardstock and stamps that we use. The great thing is that YOU WILL be able to purchase just what you need in case you have to reorder on one Blend….not having to get it as a set.

Using an alcohol based marker allows you to color without marker streaks and here is a myth…as many of you think that you need to understand the whole blending and shading scoop…NOPE – you can get GREAT results without knowing any of this stuff! I did all of this with straight forward putting the Blend to the paper! Once you get comfy with the Blends, then you can experiment with shading etc….

There is SOOOOOO much to chat about this new catalog and darn it, I wish that we all lived in the same town so we could chat in person (the reality is…our families would NEVER see us cause’ we would have a BIG OLD TIME together) But for me, a NEW CATALOG takes time to settle in and get to know! I am looking so forward to sharing you things that I love in a clean and simple way!

One thing that is FOR SURE is…

Stampin’ Up! ROCKS IT with DSP and the color coordination across the entire product line!

I am just goo-goo over the Garden Impressions DSP Stack! It is just over the top beautiful and truth be told, I am drawn more to the flip side of this paper that I am using today but I wanted to stretch my comfort zone and use this side…and I learned a lesson – I loved the end result!!! When I showed my best critic (my sweet hubby John) he smiled and said – this is great and what makes it is that background! (and then I smiled)

I often like to cover the entire panel of a card front. To me, it makes an instant impact. Speaking of impact…the new color of Gray Granite is my new favorite Neutral! I invite you to play with this color as it is one that makes a subtle project rock, a bold project rock etc…I did a wee mat of it around the focal portion of the card today! Just a little goes a long way and IT’S WORTH IT!

You just cannot go wrong with paper…I love to layer, I love to pop up – taking that extra step, taking that extra time will clearly show up in the end result. I like to look at layering as an accessory…just like when we dress ourselves, a scarf can make a fun outfit a wow outfit…just like paper does with our card designs!

Speaking of extra touches…how about this Linen Thread? It’s like a crisp white blouse in your closet…you ALWAYS need this! I love to wrapped several strands of the Linen Thread around when I create as I think the texture and effect makes a difference.

I like to run my Linen Thread (and also I do this with Bakers Twine) through a Bees Wax thingie???? (I have linked it for you from Jo Ann’s Fabric) but I am sure you can get them many places….I might be creative but I cannot sew worth a lick! I do this because it make the thin stands “behave and make a perfect bow with both texture and substance” I secure my bows with a simple glue dot – works every time!

The sentiment….super cute, right?!?! The font is right up my alley and this is from the amazing bundle, Varied Vases! I wish that Stampin’ Up! would share with us what products are on the tops but I would wagger to say that this one…has to be in the top 3! It is super special as not only is is a clean and oh so versatile bundle but the price point is perfect!

I know that you all have seen many amazing projects with this set and it is one that will be a classic through the test of time! Perfect for all occasions…and paper piecing….one of my favorite techniques to do (watch for future posts with this technique). I am also super “family proud” as this bundle was created by my upline, Mary Fish for becoming a million dollar SU seller….you can see her clean and classic style! I guess I could say, I’m proud of my SU Mama!

I simply took a 1/2″ piece of Calypso Coral cardstock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. This IS a technique that I never get tired of as the WOW comes back to you just as it was the first time you did it! This is funny….I can remember that after I purchased the Heat Tool I could hardly wait for John to get home to show him the magic! (kinda silly that as an adult things like this makes us feel giddy)

The 2 most important tips I can give you for great Heat Embossing results are….get the Heat Tool good and hot before you bring it to the project to set…and you DO NEED the embossing buddy…this helps with stray pieces of embossing powder to your area that you are heat setting. Both of these products are a one time investment!

I often get emails about how do I get the embossing powder off of my darker cardstock after heat embossing. Here you go – I keep Swifter Clothes in my work area and use them often! (You can get them at any Grocery Store but I linked you to Amazon for convenience) and I cut them into smaller sizes and use them for many things….cleaning off the white reside from the embossing buddy…removing any excess embossing powder that is on my work area etc….

I love the look of white embossing on a color cardstock…clean and classic!

Speaking of things I love…I love my envelopes!

This is something that I do with each and every card I send out… to me, it is all about first impressions and when you receive a card in the mail and see some envelope love to it….I know what happens, you smile! Trust me, I “get it” as I am the same way and it is funny that when John brings the mail in and sees that I have some “happy mail” from someone….he will SPOT OUT THE ENVELOPE and say….this will make you smile – it’s a pretty envelope!

With this card today I wasn’t feeling the love to put this DSP on the outer flap like I usually do so I thought – make your own envelope in Pool Party to pull it all together! This IS a great example of envelope love! There is an instant WOW with a colorful envelope and making one with the envelope punch board is a cinch. (you have heard me say this….but this IS the best piece of plastic you can buy for $20.00)

It just took an 8″ X 8″ square of cardstock to create this smile! For those of you that like to make square cards like I do…you can easily whip up any size using the trusty guide on the front.

Are you hanging in there???? I am sorry that my posts are so darn long but I cannot help it sometimes – it is always my goal to inspire you and help you “see where I am coming from” with my projects! Remember, it’s ME…..SIMPLE SUSAN so I do not showcase anything that I do not like personally and I am just who I am with my style of blogging!

I am sooooo happy that many of you enjoyed the Blog Post of how I organize my Cardstock….I am going to pop in there today and respond to your comments! Being organized just makes this whole process of this “addiction we have” so much more enjoyable and it also allows us not to over buy.

The next post I am going to do is how I organize my Designer Series Paper! Trust me, you will be SHOCKED with how little room it takes up and I have every offering that Stampin’ Up! has! It is all about the process and all about having the right products!

Enjoy the day and I am sooooo hoping to have more “me time” today in my studio! I just wanna play with the new kids on the block! All of the products that I used to create this sweet card will be found below!!! See you soon!

It IS a perfect day to be happy!

Happy Tuesday and I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Before we get to this post I need your help with some feedback if you have been experiencing issues with my blog. I was having some computer issues and I have received emails that there are issues with the comment section and also delivery. If you have experienced this, please email me so I can properly try to see what is up!

WHEW…you know me and computers…not a happy marriage – let’s get to the fun!

Can you believe that this is the last week of the Month….and that is NO April Fools! We are blessed with a glorious sunny day and the card that I have for you today is perfect to go with this perfect day of sunshine! You know we have been talking about using up the DSP we have stashed….so here you go, more inspiration!

Today I am going to the Annual Catalog with the Bunch of Blossoms Photopolymer Stamp Set. I do not know about you….but there are many times that I feel the Annual Catalog gets a bit “back-burnered” …and we are always so excited to see the newbies from the Holiday and Occasions Catalogs that we forget about many of the “keepers” that are on the Annual Catalog!

This stamp set has been around a while and you can see below that there is a punch that coordinates with it. Do you remember last week we were talking about the ease and speed of the punches? Well today….is a perfect example of that !To me, ease and speed are 2 key ingredients that speak to me when I am card making!

You might be wondering why it is not a bundle? Well….it WAS a bundle eons ago when it was first introduced to the Stampin’ Up! line but always remember, they will not always stay as a bundle – that is why it is a great idea to snatch them up before a new catalog comes out.

No worries…as you can still get them separately and YES  – I would definitely get the Blossom Builder Punch as it does save a bunch of time. Another thing that I want to point out to you today is……when you are short of ideas and inspiration…..just google the name of our Stamp sets and I am sure that you will find a ton of inspiration

Do you also remember last Monday that I share with you that it is time to use up paper? We….I am doing that today as well because the reality of it is that we are going to be tantalized with many different new offerings really soon when the New Annual Catalog comes out on June 1st. Now THIS IS a very exciting time when we see the new kids on the block but darn, please do not forget to give that big & beautiful Annual Catalog love throughout the year!

The paper is the Petal Garden Paper and it was used a BUNCH when it first made its entrance last June but then…..I think it was pushed away. With the sunshine and Spring here…let’s pull it back out and use it! I was so happy to see how easy it was to coordinate 2 different prints with ease on the focal part of the card.

I can remember my initial thought about this paper…it was “I think it’s pretty but is it too fussy for my style” – Yep, I pre-judged how the end result would be if I could make it work for my style and I think that todays card will prove it to you that I was wrong. It IS a Susan type card and actually I was so pleased with the end result that I am going to make it in the Calypso Coral as well!

This stamp set it super fun to work with because it is a photopolymer  stamp which makes it super easy to look through and line up. The stamp allows you to build up layers of colors but building on top of each other. The ink colors that I used today were Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzelberry.

It appears that I have 3 colors but there is only 2. I stamped the 1st layer in Sweet Sugarplum and then for the 2nd layer, I stamped it “off once” in Rich Razzelberry before stamping it over top and lastly the 3rd layer was Rich Razzelberry in full strength. That “stamping off” a color really works super and it is something that I think we all forget about.

Did you notice that the pattern of the DSP also matched the Trellis Garden Embossing Folder? Yep, it does and that added texture on both the rectangle on the card front as well as the envelope flap is the icing on the card. (I wish that you were holding it in your hand as it is just stunning)

I am trying to remember to use the embossing folders more often as they are a super quick and easy way to add pizzazz to a card with little expense and little effort Here is a tip….I always keep a spray mister bottle of water by Mr. Big and mist my paper before I run it through with an embossing folder. It help the paper fibers get a nice and deep emboss.

The other tip that we all know to do….it add layers of paper with different dimensions. We can do that easily with dimensionals but we can also do that by simply adding movement to the edges of the paper with the bone folder. WHAT? Yep, look below and you can that I curled the petals of the flowers.

The 2 base ones are adhered on with green glue at the base but I left the free edges tipped up a bit and just the middle petal is lifted with a dimensional. Please do not be afraid to work your paper with the bone folder – by going back and forth with it will break down the fibers and allow it to be supple.

That’s it for today….one beautiful card that used 2 different prints from the same DSP Collection….one big and bold covering the entire panel of the card….the other just a quick accent to add interest to the stamped image. I hope that you stretch yourself and try using more than one print to a card, the effect is super and when you also throw in an embossed piece….I say…

“bases load and the envelope fun is the homerun!”

The hour glass has DEFINITELY turn for the end of Sale-A-Bration……remember, you only have until Saturday to swoop up the FREEBIES with purchases but to me the best deal, the 2 Free Stamp Sets that you could have with being a hobby demo…..I know that this seems to scare the heck out of you….but it is as easy as saying, I get a minimum of a 20% discount each and everyday! Email me, I would love to be able to answer any questions you might have!

Have a great day and I will do my best to be back on track tomorrow, I need to take my Dad to Baltimore today so we all know how that might be….enjoy the day and thanks for sharing some of your precious time with me, I deeply appreciate it and I hope that this card showed you that “Today is the perfect day to be happy” …….xoxoxox

The Perfect Card for SPRING!

Happy HUMP Day…Happy 1st full day of Spring and Happy SNOW Day!

Hello and wherever you are….I hope that you are having a great day and that you are safe. The weather all across the map is just crazy and here on the East Coast…YEP – we are getting DUMPED with super heavy snow. Do you remember the days of the revolving back door when kids were little? I clearly do as the wash machine and hot chocolate were hopping then but for me now – I deal with a new type of revolving door.

Most dogs love to play in the snow and our troops….are in their glory today except for poor pathetic Rosie…she does not like it one bit and she is not a happy camper. She is the one that follows John wherever he goes and on Snow Days….she can only take about 30 minutes! Our snow is so deep that John did not go into the office and remember, he is an Accountant so that is tellin’ you that it is a mess as he is in the mountain of Tax Season!

I ask you….how can a dog be so ugly and also so cute?

(Just look at those snow balls stuck to her! One WET MOP!!!)

Today I have a card for you that I make every year. I have blogged about it before and it is a card that throughout the year that I get emails about with questions etc….It is one that ALWAYS is a huge hit and once people make it I see so many pictures of the fun they had with different colors and papers. It is one of those timeless and “happy cards” to brightens anyones day….and who doesn’t like “happy”!

Today will be another opportunity for you to guess what I would put in an Ultimate Bundle…we have been having fun with that and I hope that you put your thinking cap on and see what I would pick from the line up products at the end of the post. The threshold is $125 but I will tell you the number I hit was $124.50. The opportunity to get (2) FREE Stamp Sets of you choice with the Ultimate Bundle is quickly coming to a close on March 31st.

That is why the IS the best time to take advantage of it….and if you already have “just about everything” in the Stampin’ Up! line of products….no worries, stock up on staples that you use all of the time. Remember, ANY 2 stamps sets….and with that said….I would look at what you have been on the fence about, perhaps it was the price….so now you have nothing to working about as it is FREE…..(darn, that word is music to a shoppers ear) with no obligation to do one more thing!

Throughout the post I will share with you some hints that will make your guessing a bit easier for you and on Friday I will announce the winners…..I will give up to (3) fast fuse adhesives as I see that they are no longer available. The refills are still available! I admit, I am super sad about Stampin’ Up! retiring the fast fuse as it is the BEST and STRONGEST adhesive that we have but I do think that many had learning curve issues with how to work with it…..in the end, I am sure that Stampin’ Up! has something else up their sleeve to replace it. (there is a hint – FAST FUSE is not in my pick for Ultimate Bundle challenge today)

Ok….let’s get to this and I do hope that if you already have this stamp and punch….that you can find some “me time” and bring a little sunshine to someone with making this sweet card. The stamp set is Flower Shop…it has been around a long time and it is one that I will always keep along with the Pansy Punch that coordinates with it to make to cutting out a cinch….just line up and POP!

Here is another hint…this stamp set is NOT in my pick for the bundle challenge today. WHY?….easy – there are many, many other stamp sets that I have a much higher price point than $18.00 that I would chose as a FREEBIE…..after all, you could turn around and just pay $14.40 with your endless 20% discount! It’s like having a Bed, Bath & Beyond 20% off coupon every-time you order….but you do not need a coupon!

Let’s face it…nobody knows what stamps and products are going to be retired and once that list comes out….there always seems to be a huge scurry to make decisions as what to get…before the they are gone for good. As I have been blogging about lately….I have become very selective to what I have bought from the Occasions Catalog…as the reality is – we only can use so many stamps!

I have a HUGE AMOUNT of retired stamps set aside to sell and the ones that I chose to keep…are truly a small amount but this one will be kept as I love to make this card (and I never get tired of it)…I love the size of this flower….I love the various designs of the flower….and I LOVE that there is a punch. Stampin’ Up! has soooooooo many floral stamps…but being very non fru-fru….this one speaks to me.

I am a clean and simple gal and all of the elements of the “makings” of this card are the classics…..(which I am a HUGE believer in having the right tools/supplies……will end up with a fun creating process)….To me, you need to build up your “tools and staples” inventory as without these….stamps will just sit.

You can see below in the picture the framelits and punches that I used to make this sweet card. In your stash of MUST HAVE’s is the Layering dies ….today I used the Layering Circle Framelits and they ARE a staple. The flowers vase was cut from a circle and then I just snipped of the bottom. (hint…hint again). Layering paper on paper and shapes on shapes always will go far with creating!

As you can see that this is a square card…actually a 4 1/4″ square card. I adore this shape of a card and today you will see that I made my own custom envelopes with the Envelope Punch Board as that’s how I roll…the icing on the cake in my eyes and heart. I know that there are many that do not like to have to pay for extra postage (as all square cards are extra postage)…..so if you chose….you could put this in a White Envelope and it would be just a regular stamp…..

Here is another hint…..the envelope punch board is NOT in my pick for the bundle challenge. Of course I would always have that product….but what I am trying to show you is that there are MANY ways to fill that kit for $125 and only pay $99. I realize that there are many that simply would never want to play around with this tool…and that IS ok – we are all comfortable in many ways.

The other beauty of this card is…the sky is the limit for your color palette. I stuck to bright and bold colors today and I worked with the super fun Tutti Fruitti 6 X 6 DSP Stack. Don’t you just love the crispness of the colors and the variety of designs on the pansy’s? You can see that I POPPED out with the help of the 1/2″ circle punch the insides of the flowers and jazzed them up with some dots and dashes from a white gel pen and a quick go over with the wink of stella for some soft bling.

A product that I often forget about using are the embossing folders. You can see from that link that we have over 20 to choose from and they DO make such a difference. Just like picking the basics, the (2) that I am using today are keepers as they will never go out of style and then lend themselves to a broad span of cards that we make.

Sometimes I really feel like I am a “plain jane” but how do classics like stripes and polka dots ever let you down? I just know what works for me and figure out a way to use it over and over again.

There you go…..a SUPER SWEET card that would perk up anyones day! You know that I am a lover of sentiment sayings and this “friend” from the Lovely Words Framelits was fun to snip off and just let the word shine! I stacked it up to make it more of a statement and I used the Multipurpose Sheets (another great and overlooked aid we have) to adhere them together but if you just have the green glue….use that – a total staple to have!

We all know that there are many ways to do things. The key is to find the way that works and feels good to you. I love to share with you the ideas that I have with what most crafters would find useful! This IS how we learn…by sharing and giving feedback! Please feel free to leave some feedback about this card….I just adore it.

HEAD’S UP….to those smart stampers that placed a pre-order for the STAMPARATUS…..Keep an eye for a notification from Stampin’ Up! that yours is ready to finish the ordering process! You will receive an EMAIL from Stampin’ Up! I have no idea that you pre-ordered one or not…..but after you receive the email, you will have the opportunity to add to your cart.

If nothing else, I would add something small onto it so you could get a freebie from Sale-a-bration…….why not? You are going to love, love, LOVE this tool and for those of you that did not get in on the pre-order….no worries, you will be able to get it starting June 1st with the new catalog!

Have a great afternoon and have fun trying to guess what is in the ULTIMATE BUNDLE using the below items….again, the total was $124.50 that I picked! I will see you Friday with some Easter inspiration for you to do over the weekend….it is super fun – pull out the alcohol inks!

Fast…Fun and oh so sweet!

Happy Friday! I have been excited to do this post ever since I received an email from a customer, Sue E. from New Hampshire! I just LOVE IT when I am inspired by blog readers and this email led me to a full blown enablement and I am just THRILLED!

I need to be honest….so go grab your Occasions Catalog and turn to page 17. This is where is all begins! I totally skipped right over this stamp set, A Good Day –  I naturally HOPPED on buying the punches without batting an eye as when I see a punch – SOLD as I love the ease and speed of using a punch!

I can remember my first impression of this stamp set was….images are too small….I wasn’t crazy about the Mini Embroidery Hoops as I tend to crack the wooden embellishments and then also the bulk with shipping….UNTIL AN EMAIL…..from Sue and that’s all it took – SOLD ME!

Take a peek of this image and then read on….it will make sense!

Sue said that she watched a Video that Sara Douglas did using this stamp set along with the narrow notecards & envelopes (another item I wasn’t 100% sold on) but keep reading……(I told you I was going to be honest) I then put my investigator hat on and found the video…..it was a FaceBook Live Video that Sara had up on the Stampin’ Up! Website!

I watched this and said an immediate WOW – right up my alley……

Click Here to see the video…it is cute and Sara is just adorable! After I ordered it I immediately called Jeanie and asked her if she had it to borrow….STRUCK OUT….I now know how if feels to be impatient waiting for an order to come….even though I had a ca-zillion other things to work on….I wanted it NOW!

It finally came Monday night and I could hardly wait to play with it and make some of these sweet cards! I warn you….they are like POTATO CHIPS…..super addictive to make and as you make them you start to think…..“These would be great to give to ________ for a little Birthday Gift” or “These would be great to give a set to my Mother In Law for watching Mr. Perfect” (aka Milo)

Below you can see the (2) new punches. These really made putting this project together a breeze. I think that we all can agree….when you can pull out a punch and get the job done….We are HAPPY Crafters! Stampin’ Up! Punches are always so hight in quality and value. In the product line up you will see all of the various sizes of punches….they are just super handy to have on hand…a basis that you will use over and over!

Really…the sky is the limit and it also gets you to think of other stamps that you have that are small in image size to make up and paper….well WE ALL KNOW WE HAVE PAPER….so here is your permission to USE IT UP!

Now you can see why I am giving the Narrow Notecards & Envelopes as my gift with purchase this month! I will also tuck in several of these with the notecards……You can always find the current incentive on the drop down bar on the blog and the current Hostess Code is on the side of my blog.

As you can see in Sara’s Video there is nothing to it in whipping a bunch up! I did add a mat to the samples below…just because – you know me, I love my paper and I do think that it dresses it up a bit!

I also invite you to look at other simple sentiment stamps you have as you can see on the Easter one…..a simple Happy Easter dressed up this sweet bunny – this is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes oldie but goodie stamp!!! (I already know that I am going to make these for Easter and put on the fru-fru when I make Lemon Bread!)

I pulled out my Blends and just added some simple color to make these little sweeties come to life. You can use many different coloring mediums but I find the alcohol based markers are not only speedy….but also super easy!

In the Video, Sara showed how to cut the paper to maximize your cuts. Didn’t you think that it was so darn clever to use the  2 1/4″ Circle Punch to use as an envelope liner? I made the below visual for you to use.

So…..What do you think? Do they make you smile….

I know what I think….I am GRATEFUL THAT SUE EMAILED ME….and that I put some together!!! This would be a wonderful way to get together with friends and make some – you can yack away and have fun chatting and also pound out a bunch of these sweet cards……I literally had to stop myself and put them away as I kept wanting to make more and more….(I plan to make some while watching the Olympics)

Enjoy the weekend and I do hope that you will have time to watch the Olympics. I love watching them and I am always so amazed with the strength, dedication, endless training that these amazing athletes do! It truly is a special time to see the extreme talent.

We are to have a super rainy weekend….better rain than snow….the ice we had earlier in the week has played havic on many of our trees and we lost a HUGE pine tree and also several HUGE LIMBS…..it always makes me sad to see trees die as I think of how many years they were there.

Find some “me time” to craft away and I hope that this post inspired you to look at these sweet notecards. I just get giddy when I see a project that is fun, easy and practical. These would make a wonderful little gift to make up for that hard to buy for person as after all, a gift that you made with your own hands is the best gift as it is from YOUR HEART and HANDS!

Just one “sweet” card!

This is my kinda card….sweet and simple that makes you smile! I know that you have heard me time and time again saying…It’s all about the basics….and YEP, I will say it again…It’s all about the basics!

I just love this card base….how about you? It is one of the FREEBIE options from Sale-A-Bration called, Tutti Fruitti Note Cards and Envelopes and they are just a breath of Spring to me on a blustery cold day like today! Guess what? Stampin’ Up is going to be offering more options for Sale-A-Bration……I preordered them yesterday so next week you will get a peek….(they are super cute)

Now let’s get back to that basics thing….look at the simplicity of this card….simple shapes with matting and DONE!. The sweet focal stamp is from the Flying Home Stamp from the Occasions Catalog. Images like this are super simple to color in and we all know we have many options in how we can color….today I used the Stampin’ Blends as they are hands down the fastest for me to do!

I have blogged about these Note Card before and you can click here to see that post….but one thing that I love about this offering is that you get 16 card bases and the coordinating envelopes are not only a FUN color but they have a great liner that coordinated with the Tutti Fruitti DSP Stack that is in the catalog….win-win!

Whenever you can get a POP of color in a simple way like this I say…..GO FOR IT as you can keep the rest of the card rather simple. The card base sets the tone letting the sweet floral and bird house POP!

Can you see what I did after I colored the image in? I took a white get pen and added some dots to the bird house and also some on the flowers! I know that it is hard to see but when you hold it….it does makes a difference – just a quick and simple touch that adds a bit of pizzazz!

Speaking of a wee bit of umph……I ran the So Saffron Circle thru Mr. Big with the Confetti Textured Embossing Folder before I adhered them together….another quick and easy way to add to a simple card!

Now to a stamp that I have honestly not seen blogged much of…..it is a Hostess Offering Stamp called Yay You….I say YAY because it is a photopolymer…..I say YAY as it was just $10.00 and I say YAY once again as I think that it is super simple and the fonts and Sentiments are YAY!

After I pulled this off the shelf I noticed the sweet little hearts…..you bet that they will get inked up this weekend as I plan to make Valentines and I call a little cluster like that a “filler” as stamps like this are perfect to add here and there to spice things up!

When I create a “fish tail” sentiment strip like this I like to do so on a much longer strip of paper….stamp the sentiment and then make a snip in the middle of the strip and then cut on either side to meet the middle cut…..

This is one of those silly things that we always seem to over analyze making sure the ends match perfectly etc…(sound familiar to anyone) when actually no one would ever notice…..you know my motto on making dots and dashes…..JUST DO IT!

One more peek at this sweet card and did you notice the inside liner on the envelope? Yep…just that little bit of crumb cake from the bird house pulls the whole thing together.

I think that next time I use this stamp I will do it with using the Aqua Painter for you to see the difference in the coloring. The one medium of color that I rarely use and know that I should give it some more love is the watercolor pencils…..I admit – I actually forget about them as my first go to os the Stampin’ Blends.

Have a great weekend and if you are a Super Bowl fan……well – I hope your team wins! We do adore watching big events like this as it always seems to be a great reason to have some yummy food…..so BBQ Ribs are our Football pick!

Stay warm….be safe and I hope that you can squeeze some “me time” in over the weekend and play with stamps and paper!  Below you will see the new Hostess Code as well as the Gift With Purchase for the Month of February……

Next week I am going to wow you with a fun post using and highlighting these adorable notecards & envelopes….You are going to agree, they truly are super fun and unique! It was an idea sent to me from a super de duper stamper and I loved it soooooo much, I had to purchase the stamp set that coordinates with it!

I just LOVE IT when someone enables me! Have a super fun weekend…….

My “GUTS” for the team!

Happy Monday! I hope that you had a great weekend. This is a FAST week fro me as I am leaving tomorrow to start the trek to Salt Lake City for the Stampin’ Up! Event! WHEW…..I fell like I just unpacked my suitcase and here I go again!

I bet you are wondering….what the heck is this title about? Hang tight…..it will make sense.

Two months ago I started to send my team some “GUTS” – yep, that’s right…..GUTS…Now you might be asking what is guts? To me, it is elements that they can take and create. The main goal is to just HAVE FUN….perhaps STRETCH YOURSELF….and to THINK OUT OF THE BOX.

This is something totally optional as trust me, I get it…..sometimes you just down’t feel like participating but my hopes are to create a fun activity and let me tell you….it is super fun to see what they come up with!

For those that choose to play…..I send them a goodie…..remember, there are no winners and no losers…it is just a fun team activity! I am a bit behind the 8 ball as I have not posted the fun cards they made with these guts to our facebook group….but I am always amazed at how each of us can start with the same elements and come out with something totally different.

Before we go much further I have a confession…It was not until I was completely done this card that I realize that I did not use an element that I provided…..and that was the color soft suede. What I would have done was to have matted the DSP in the soft suede to add that element! (Silly Susan!!!)

Here are the “GUTS” that I gave to everyone. No rules….just have fun creating…..you can add anything else…but you need to use the below elements….(AGAIN….I was the SUPER LOSER as I forgot, totally forgot an element)

  • a white doily (I chose this because I NEVER use them and wanted to S T R E T C H myself and see the inspiration from others)
  • a piece of the DSP from the Coffee Break Collection
  • a piece of Soft Sky and Soft Suede

I am sure that you can imagine the vast array of interpretations there are…as many use the “flip side” of the DSP….today I was playing it safe with this subtle print but the star of the show was using this below stamp set……Hug in a Mug.

At a first pass through the catalog I breezed right past this but then I received a card from my upline, Lisa Pretto and she used it….I thought….WOWZERS….

Once I saw that it was a photopolymer….easy decision – it needed to be on Randall Lane. I admit, I am getting rather picky about the stamps I purchase as I adore the photopolymer ones…..just think how adorable this would be for tags and even cards all Winter long.

I invite you to look at the small elements that are in this stamp set…they are SUPER -DE-DUPER “fillers” as I like to call it for space that you need a “little something”…just sayin’

This is a super straight forward card…..and it was fun to whip up! I did use the Stampin’ Blends to color in the images. I am having fun playing with them. After I adhered everything together, I took the Wink Of Stella pen over to add some shine…..a fun and fast touch!

I know that it is hard to see the Wink of Stella but please do not forget about this gem. It adds just the right amount of sparkle/specialness to your project!

Let’s quickly chat about the blends…..last Wednesday in Nov 1st…..I blogged about the Blends……CLICK HERE to see that post. These new pens have been the BUZZ,,,,,,and for good reasons….they are super easy to work with!

My goal is to have you NOT GET ALL WORKED UP about knowing how to blend. What I want….is for you to feel comfortable and enjoy the process and THEN…..we can work towards the blending……there is no need to stress….it will come – in time.

With that said, I decided to offer something that will help make the experience a bit more basic….a bit more relaxing….and also a little easier on your pocketbook buy stretching it out over 3 months.

***FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE ALREADY EMAILED ME TO JOIN….look for an email from me this afternoon with the colors for you to order and your first assignment! We are going to have fun together….learning and exploring!***

Here’s the scoop…please join the fun as this is how we will learn…..EMAIL ME and put in the subject line BLENDS CLUB and I will add you to the list.
