Now that the cat is out of the bag….I can tell you that I always say…..James is THE BEST birthday gift I could ever have. I adore the fact that our Birthdays are so close and we had a wonderful weekend!

Happy Birthday Susan! I have no special way I like to celebrate my birthday except to be surprised by whatever the family might come up for a celebration. Anything that includes family is a special celebration!
YES! Happy Birthday my friend. Our birthdays are so close too. Our family tradition is to go out for dinner with all of my family. A special treat for the four of us, to make time to be together. My husband and daughters’ jobs are not the 9-5 clock. Fire department, restaurant and gourmet food market are 14 to 24 hour/seven day a week place so getting us all together IS very special. This year it happened right on my birthday.

My family is also hard to get together. My son works. My husband is in a lot of volunteer places that need him., and he works. I doubt you could hear us all the way from WI, but we just sang the “Happy Birthday To You…” song. Its wonderful that you and James share birthdays birthdays so close together. Caleb was born the day before Dan’s birthday and I will always remember him telling me in the hospital I’d never be able to top that gift for him! My favorite way to celebrate my birthday is with family…I like to have a nice dinner and play some games. Have a wonderful birthday!!! Sending all our love and hugs to you. 🙂
Happy Birthday Susan!!! My birth”day” sometimes turns into a birthday-month, which is fabulous. I have a granddaughter, 2 sister-in-laws, and 5 friends that all have birthdays within a week of each other. So lots of eating out and great desserts get involved while celebrating. Have a fantastic day.

My husband’s birthday is 8 days before mine so we celebrate together by going out to dinner and then we sit by the phone waiting for our kids to call and wish us Happy B-days! We receive beautiful cards from family and friends which lets us know how grateful we are in having them as part of our lives.

Happy Birthday, Susan! This year my daughter and I had “milestone” birthdays, so I took her and my daughter-in-law to Hawaii for a week! However, I usually spend my birthdays going out to dinner with my husband and usually several lunches/dinners with friends. I did spend this year’s watching Pride and Prejudice, the Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy version. Love it!!
Happy, Happy Birthday, Susan. We celebrate my birthday by going out to dinner. Our son and his family live busy lives in NYC and we don’t get to see them as often as we would like. It is special when we are all together. I love some of the ideas others have posted, like have “warm apple crisp”, buying my own presents, and having a month-long celebration of lunches with friends. These ladies know how to keep a birthday going!! I love this card community and how you keep us inspired with your great attitude, outlook and classy cards. I’m so glad I found your blog. My husband and I have birthdays a week apart so we try to do something special that we both enjoy doing together. Sometimes it’s a stay along the ocean. This year it was a day trip to the mountains for some hiking and good time spent together. Enjoy your day whatever you decide to do!?

Woot-Woot…happy bday Susan! Listen to that wise person and make this your special day. My oldest child was born the day before my bday so I get what you’re saying. We celebrate with a special dinner and, like some others, it is hard because of the jobs (policeman, mental health therapist, teacher/tutor). Also, two other co-workers have the same bday as me (same age, same hospital) and we “treat” each other to a fun lunch. Enjoy your day and do something wild!
Happy birthday to you!! Today is my husband’s birthday. I am always relieved when he catches up with me.(I am seven months older than he is.) My oldest daughter was born ON my birthday and in turn, her oldest child was born on her husband’s birthday. Such fun!!

That’s the best – to be surrounded with loved ones on your birthday. And now that my peeps are all over the country, that would be my wish – to have them home on my birthday!
Happy Birthday! It is a very warm (upper 80s) and windy day here in central IL. Having family around you is the best way to celebrate a birthday regardless of the season or activity (something planned or just dropped by)?
I want to say Happy Birthday too. I hope you have many many more. It looks like most of us are in the same boat, families busy but cherished. I usually send my oldest bachelor son a birthday cookie cake in a pizza box that he can share with his co-workers. (for HIS birthday, not mine). He lives very far away from all the rest of the family and is “alone”, though of course has friends and colleagues. My birthday, husband’s birthday, one of my daughter’s birthday, a son in law’s birthday, mothers day and fathers day all happen close together so we always try to get as many of us as possible together and celebrate an all inclusive Happy Life day.

Happy Birthday Susan. I like to spend my birthday with family. We often go out for a family dinner/birthday celebration. I guess you could say I like my birthday to be fairly low key!
Happy, Happy Birthday to you! I think it is a great idea to make the day about you but I also think it is up to you to make your day happy (the generic you, not just you personally, Susan). Meaning, your happiness shouldn’t rely on others. My birthday is usually tucked between Mother’s Day (oddly enough everyone and their mother goes out) and Cinco de Mayo (drunk people) so mostly I don’t make my celebrations public. I like to not have obligations besides going to work and getting to do what I want, which is often play with paper! For 2016 my birthday was also on a Monday, the day my hubby goes to visit a friend after work and I get the house to myself. He was saying how he’d be sure to come home on my special day and I was like, “Oh no, go directly to Scott’s this is *my* night!”

Happy Happy Birthday Susan! I love birthdays, and have always tried to make them special. In my family everyone shares a birth date with someone else, my twins took that the extreme, being born on my sister and great aunt’s day. Family is definitely the most important ingredient to a happy birthday, so glad you had that this weekend!
First…..Happy Birthday, Susan! Our kids are spread out all over so it is rare that we get together for my B’day……but, my wonderful husband always takes me out for lobster!! I love lobster & he knows that!! So we have a special dinner & time together. Hope your day is great!

Grand Slam at Denny’s free. Dutch brothers drink free. Then dinner at Mangolian grill buy one get one free. I celebrate with two friends around our birthdays they are Oct. 22, Oct. 26th and one November 3. We all turned 67 this year and we have been doing it since we were 23.
