Good Morning….it is a PPA Day and today we have a fun sketch from Ginger! She is always thinking out of the box and I invite you to take a look at her sketch and you will see why…..so different….so fun! Please pop over to the PPA Site and you will see a BUNCH of inspiration.
I admit, I was a bit stumped at first as what to do and then I thought….“Stop fighting it and just enjoy yourself” = that is what I did. Where I have a problem is with angles. I seem to do much better with squares, rectangles, circles etc….but I was very happy that I HAD TO stretch myself and JUST DO IT!
I was pleased with the end result. A fun card that screams the holidays! I hope that you enjoy the pictures and that you can see that I used fun foam under the tree – I love the look but more so, I love the feel of it when you hold it.
Those are the angle that I was talking about! I just took 2 pieces of card stock, one 3/4″ and the other a smidge smaller and cut the angle. It really was not as bad as I thought it would be and the end…I like it!
I admit that I was having a tough time with the sentiment as I wanted to to be small yet simple. This is from the Stitched with Cheer Photopolymer set. This is a fun set but it also comes as a kit and that is SUPER CUTE…..I will be blogging about that in the future….a sleeper in the catalog, trust me. 🙂
Below is a great shot that you can see the fun foam and dimension it gives. You could easily use stampin’ dimensionals but I just find this easier. Heck, you already have the framelit out…why not cut it out of foam ~ works for me!
You have to admit, the fun envelope is the icing on the cake! It really makes this DSP POP. This paper is very fun and festive…and reality is – Christmas will be here before you know it! This fun paper is one that is included in the DSP sale…remember, it is just until October 31st – YIKES that is Monday. Click here to see the scoop!
We love our paper and when you have a paper that is fun like this one is….LET IT SHINE….let IT be the focal point, make it easy on you. There is a lot going on in this paper so you want your eye to be able to take it all in!
Hold on to your hats because you will be seeing some AMAZING cards from the swap! As I said earlier in a post, I do not open them until I am ready to take pictures….WHY????? Easy – if I did I would not get a thing done other than CASE them and admire them – so much talent! 🙂 I know that you are going to find some “keepers” that touch your heart.
The parade will start on Saturday but you do NOT WANT TO MISS TOMORROW….I could jump up to the moon with excitement!!!! See you tomorrow!
I love your take on the sketch, Susan. Great job. This card is bright, cheery and definitely screams Christmas with that DSP. Have a great Thursday.
Cute card and great use of DSP. Angles are hard to visualize sometimes but you made it work. Good job, Susan! Enjoy your day!
Great use of the sketch! I would have been stumped at first also, but you nailed it! Your dots and dashes add a fun element. Bravo!
This shouts “happy holidays” to me. Love the collection of elements! Thank you so much for all your contributions to the PPA design team. Your clean style and friendly narrative played such an important role!
Susan, for some reason your card reminds me of a beautiful Christmas tree in a busy dept store during the Holiday season. Brought me some great memories. Beautiful card.
Lynn and I must have been shopping at the same department store! My first impression of seeing your card was of Marshall Fields store in Houston. There was always a humongous tree by the escalator that reached up to the second level. I remember our first Christmas in Houston and we made the mistake of going to the Galleria to shop. My gosh, talk about people – you had to wait to ride the escalator as there was so many people. Anyway, with all the packages and festive decorations going up and down the escalator this so much reminded me of this card with all the crazy holiday festivities. We were there to look at lamps and I don’t think we even made our way to that area of the store for all the people! With your dots and dashes on the diagonal piece – maybe in the blur and hub bub this could be taken as peppermint candy cane trim on the escalator? The same scene was similar for the main store in Chicago too but the chaos and our first Christmas in Houston especially made for some great memories.
Such a fun and festive card!
I have to agree with Michelle ….this is such a fun card and makes me smile !
Just love this patterned paper ….so cute ! I like how you made this sketch yours !!
I can almost hear Ho Ho Ho !!
I admit it.. the envelope is the icing on the cake. Makes it all complete. Great job.
I love that fabulous DSP behind your tree! Fun holiday card!
O.K. a day late but I still love this card. I like the bright colors, especially. You faux stitching looks fabulous as usual!! So, as today is really Friday, have a great weekend.
🙂
That DP was so festive and peppy that at first I thought you used the festive DP paper and thought that wow, it works for Christmas. Then I REALLY looked at it and wow, it’s just fun. I totally overlooked it before. That fun foam really does add something special to a card.
