Hi Susan,
So happy you’ve had such a fabulous few days! I was only away from home for 36 hours but I was really happy when I turned into my driveway last night and knew I was just moments away from my own bed! As for the best meal this week, my sister and I went to an Italian restaurant called Di Parma’s in West Yarmouth MA Friday night. We both agreed it was the best meal ever! Donna had shrimp scampi and I had a dish called haddock francesca. Out of this world delicious!
Glad your trip was so much fun. It is always good to return home and sleep in your own bed. Rest up so you can tell us more tomorrow.
Glad to hear that you enjoyed your outing in Atlanta. This past week I made pork tenderloin with Golden Delicious apples in the crockpot. Simply wonderful and sooooo easy to prepare! Have a safe trip home, Susan.
Forgot to tell about last night’s dinner…..Chicken Piccata at Cheesecake Factory. Delicious!
Best thing I ate over the weekend was a home made carameled apple. Made by my daughter. Such delicious caramel over a Honey Crisp apple. The best!
My husband and I enjoyed dinner on our first visit to an Italian place near us. I am allergic to tomatoes, so that puts a damper on traditional Italian meals. I got their veal saltimbocca and it was so good. We are always happen to find new-to-us restaurants that serve great food. I’m so glad your trip has been total fun and you are spending some time with Hannah on your way home. Thanks for the offer of blog candy. We all can use some new toys in our stash. Have a safe trip home.
I am embarrassed to say that I am enjoying eating the Halloween candy that was left over, especially the Kit Kat bars?
Our church bazaar was Saturday and one of the ladies makes the yummiest shortbread cookies for the bake sale.
I made some shrimp ceviche this weekend. It was VERY yummy! And healthy too, which is a bonus! So glad you are taking the time to visit your daughter on the way home from Atlanta.
Glad your visit. The best I ate this week was Turtle brownies, yum.
My friend had an abundance of kale in her garden so I used it in homemade Olive Garden Zuppa soup, along with onion-garlic bubble bread warm from the oven.
I had a “potato-joe” the day I substituted at my old high school – baked potato with cheese and sloppy joe meat on top. Actually I think it just reminded me of the good times I had teaching there
So glad you had a good trip and double that you get to see your daughter. A friend brought over an amazing chili for my hubby and me because he had surgery. Very different and delicious with cornbread muffins.
My fav meal this week was crockpot potato soup…it’s wonderful! Caleb says his favorite was homemade pizza that we made in the shape of a ghost. I’m happy to hear you’ve had a wonderful time. I’m sure your family (both human and animal alike) has missed you and are eager to welcome you home. Enjoy your time with Hannah!
Any chance you would share that crock pot potato soup recipe? Sounds de-lish!
Chocolate chip cookies…..need I say more…..
always, ice cream!
My fav meal was the fresh fish, creamy grits, and roasted asparagus my son cooked us last night. Yum, yum!
Glad your trip went well. Now time to rest up. Why does that happen…we take a vacation, then we have to take a vacation, to recoup from our vacation.
Anyway, we just returned from a lunch my son-in-law took us to for my hubble’s birthday. I had my heart set on a pizza, but changed my mind at the last minute and ordered the best Mediterranean Chicken Salad I’ve ever had.
As I am reading this blog and eating an Oreo McFlurry, plus getting ready to make the best ever Ginger Cookies ( I bet you know who gave me the recipe 🙂 these are definitely some of the best things I have had to eat this week.
So glad to hear your trip was amazing. How fun it is to continue your happy dance with a visit with your daughter! I ate an oat cake with my daughter who has dietary restrictions. It was delish even though it looked “funky!”
I was so happy to see Halos (mandarin oranges) back in the supermarket this week after they went away in April. Since my last stint at weight watchers I LOVE FRUIT! Who knew?! We all know the hardest part of stamping is not eating the Hershey nuggets, am I right?
Can’t wait to see the new catalogs~woot woot!! My husband is making white chicken chili right now and it is smelling delicious:). Thank you
Had some yummy walleye at a local restaurant! Love that Minnesota fish!
Sounds like sooo much fun! My baby boy will be 27 on Tuesday, so crockpot fixed the pork loin then lunch with family and friends after church today. I love the little Peppridge Farm cakes, and he picked up the choc fudge cake for desert today, so yummy food all the way around.
Sweet potato casserole made with freshly dug sweet potatoes from my garden. So light and fluffy. It is a amazing the difference between these and the ones purchased in the store. No comparison.
Pumpkin nut cookies!!! I wish they were sold year round but then perhaps they would not be as enjoyable.
These cookies sound divine but I am not familiar. Can you share the brand and where you purchase them, please?
Glad you are having such a great trip! I made roasted brussel sprouts and shallots with balsamic glaze…sooo delish!
I home made from scratch, including grinding my own 5 grain flour, and I ate my favorite muffins. They are called Pumpkin Chip Muffins….and are they ever Yummy!
Looking forward to hearing about your adventures and all the cool things you did and learned. The best thing that stands out in my mind was that the Lindt or Lindor white chocolate peppermint truffles are out and I have had several since I bought the bag on Friday. Darn are they good. Next time I will get the dark chocolate peppermint ones (I think that is the kind).
Well, the weather has been a little chilly here this week. I made some good old fashioned vegetable soup with lots of veggies from the local farmer’s market. Also made some crusty garlic bread to go along with it. It always tastes better the next day!
During a recent trip to NYC, I enjoyed a fabulous bowl of Roasted Squash Soup at Buttter. Since returning home, I have been trying to replicate it….and “nailed it” this afternoon!!
We had fresh caught (by my hubby) walleye, potato salad (like my Mom used to make) and buttered carrots. So good! Fresh apple cobbler from our tree to end a delicious meal. Looking forward to more of your fun and seeing your trade cards. Also to the new catalog, even though there is so many more things I want out of the current catalog!! Glad to hear you were able to spend time with your daughter – that’s the best time spent!!
Love to hear about your travels, but am sure you will be glad to get home to your critters! My husband likes to cook (lucky for me!) and made a Cajun Shrimp with fresh lemons! Always good!!
Someone brought a comforting good ole fashioned pound cake with a sad streak to the family this week…my favorite anytime. Glad you had a good time and can’t wait to see what you’ll share with us.
Sounds like you had a fun filled time! Can’t wait to hear all about it. I made pot roast like my grandma used to make, and had a confab on the phone with my mom and uncle about all the things we loved that their mom made.
It was my husband’s birthday and we drove from St. Louis to Kansas City. We went to a delicious barbecue restaurant for brisket and burnt ends with our daughter and her boyfriend. Such a fun weekend!
Susan, I’m so happy I had a chance to meet you in Atlanta and tell you in person just how much I enjoy your Simple Saturday/Step It Up Sunday posts! I made it home this afternoon, and I too am one tired puppy!
Tonight I had the best chicken pot pie from a local marketplace. We have been shopping around for a replacement to the place we used to get. I really do not like to cook. I think these are very hand to have on hand.
?
Could not agree more about cooking! Card making is a much better way to use time!
Glad you are having such a fun and exhilarating trip and/but I hope you get rested up! My favorite meal this week was a Greek salad with grilled chicken. Yum!
Safe trip home; glad you had a great time at the SU event. My favorite food this week was boneless Bar-B-Que ribs last night.
So happy for you, Susan! I can only imagine how m much fun you had, and it makes sense you would be tired… So much stimulation!
Best thing I have eaten was a new recipe for bread pudding, with fresh apples and streusel topping… Made it for our Sunday School class… So fun to try a new recipe! Found it on Pinterest, if anyone is interested.
Well, I have been at a dollhouse miniature event! I have not been near a kitchen but…. I did make a miniature wedding cake! It might not be very tasty….. it’s clay! Can’t wait to hear all about your adventure! Hugs from this tired pup (who is snuggled with her pup)!!!!
Hi, Susan. How nice to spend time with your daughter. My favorite meal this week was a savory meatloaf my mom used to make. I hadn’t made it in some time and it brought back warm memories of watching her cook. Thank you for the chance to win the dozen swap cards! – Ellie in Illinois
Susan, I was at the Kansas City On Stage. What a wonderful day to be with our Stampin’ Up family. Our group enjoyed the day together! The projects were fun and the new products……How does Stampin’ Up continue to wow us!?!?!? Best food this week…Panera Auntum squash soup.
So happy to hear your time was full of fun and friends but I know that seeing Hannah had to be the icing on the cake! I had a wonderful bowl of homemade chili and it was perfect for the fall weather we are FINALLY experiencing here in Northern VA. Thanks for all that you do!
I had a delicious carved turkey, bacon and avocado salad with raspberry poppy seed vinaigrette from Kneaders Bakery. Oh, and a slice of fresh baked focaccia bread on the side. It was divine!
Last night I had a delicious slice of pumpkin roll. Yummy! Thanks!!
After a pretty hectic weekend, sitting at our own kitchen table last evening, with a simple meal of tuna salad sandwiches & thick, creamy potato soup was about as good as it gets.
I made your cookies this weekend and WOW were they good. I hope to share with my brother and sons. Thanks for the delicious recipe.
Glad to hear you had a great trip. Just sitting across the table with my husband, makes any meal great. Have a great day.
After a wonderful day in Kansas City with the Stampin up crew my husband and I stayed over to go to the KC Chiefs game on Sunday. We tailgate with friends and lunch was incredible – steak, chicken veggie kabobs with twice baked potatoes. No traditional fare for this group! Lemon bars and pecan pie for dessert – along with incredible weather, fellowship with friends, and a KC Chiefs win made for a great weekend!!
So glad that your week end was such a fun time & very busy, I am sure. It is great that you got a chance to visit Hannah on your way home. My dear husband did some cooking this week……love it when he does!! He made a great meat loaf…..so comforting…..and then one other evening he made a great spicy shrimp & pasta dish. Just love to have a “man in the kitchen”!! Can’t wait to see what you learned over the week end.
I can’t say I’ve eaten any standout food the past week but I sure can tell you that Charles has. Charles is the cat and after we went to bed he was singing a happy song and doing his signature happy chirps. I wondered what he was up and wandered out in the dark. He jumped off something and came running so I pet him in the hallway for a bit and went back to bed. If I had investigated further I would have discovered that hubby left the fish he made for dinner out on the counter and Charles was having a midnight snack.
The best thing I ate was a pumpkin pie sundae! Each fall our local ice cream sandwich shop makes these sundaes. Pumpkin ice cream (hand made), their own carmel sauce, roasted pecans, whip cream and a cherry! Wonderful!!
