Happy Tuesday to all…I admit, I am doing the HAPPY DANCE over today’s post but I am a bit sad that the pictures just simply do not do this great idea the justice it sooooooo deserves! Soooooo, I say – trust me on this one as it is SUPER cute…sooooo cute that I am going to make many more up!
I am glad that you all liked yesterday’s post and as I said…this entire week is dedicated to sharing with you fun, practical ideas that even if you do not have the specific product that I am using, no worries as there are always ways to make changes and guess what – it will work!
Here is that super fun Fabulous Foil DSP paper…and today I am using the silver side paired up with Navy – I say WOW….one classic card/gift! All you need to do is pop in the envelope a gift card and you will be the SHINING STAR of the Holidays 🙂
If you do not have the Gift Card Framelit you could easily use the envelope punch board but here is the way that I feel about it….we all know that gift cards are used all year long for a variety of occasions…and trust me, this is a breeze to make – if you are using a regular piece of card stock, all you need is a 1/2 of a sheet. ( but I need to say….you will not regret having this in your stash)…just saying! 🙂
I realize that the Gift Card Framelit is an investment….but then I look at it this way, don’t most things that are a bit more worth it in the long run. I find than when I get something of quality and in this case ~ also practical….each and every time I use it, I am thankful that I made the purchase!
Here are the measurements and tips for you… please CASE away and feel free to email me if you have any questions! – Just like I said yesterday, I would make one of these up and jot down the measurements for the future. Also, remember that you can scroll through my gallery at the top of the Blog Header and that will take you to the posts!
- The Card base is thick Whisper White, 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″ (a regular A-2 Card)
- The Navy is 5 1/4″ X 4″
- The Acetate is the same size as above, 5 1/4″ X 4″ and then I used the fast fuse in the middle where the envelope would cover it to adhere it together! (this is what is great about this post….you can easily HIDE the adhesive!)
- The Envelope was cut with the Gift Card Envelope & Trims with the Fancy Frost DSP paper (love it!!! ~ the thickness is fabulous and the feel is over the top, plus it is on sale…this is what I am using for a personal Christmas card!)
- I matted it with the Silver Foil Paper, just a smidge larger than the envelope – 4 1/8″ X 2 7/8″ ( to me, a great touch)
- The sentiment was cut out using the Christmas Greetings Thinlits (another classic) and I used the green glue to adhere it!
Tips for you….:
- The adhesives I used were fast fuse and green glue!
- When you mat the envelope to the silver foil – use the fast fuse (just not a wet adhesive) and then add the twine/embellishments to the back….this way the “tails” will be hanging until you tuck in the gift card and then all you have to do it put it in….and tie the bow!
- I did use fun foam to pop it up ( and yep…it does fit in the envelope just fine) – you could easily use stampin’ dimensional….I just like the solid feel of the envelope!
Here is the SMILE picture…..do you agree???? One fun card that acts as a 2 for 1 – tuck the gift card, write a message…and you will be a hit.
Make sure that if you are mailing this to someone far away that in the Holiday Message that you write to “open the envelope” – wouldn’t that be the pits to have them think you just sent them a beautiful card!!! 😆
What is up me sleeve tomorrow….well let me share with you ~ we will switch from gift cards to “check holders” – as I know that there are many of you that enjoy writing checks!
This is a job that I do for my wonderful Dad, he prefers to give a check rather than a gift card and trust me, I have some classics for you!
I hope that you are enjoying this “practical week of posts” – I know that I could be sharing with you a bunch of SNEAK PEEKS from the new catalog…but I say….we are IN THE SEASON and I know that these posts will help you shine for last minute ideas! We will have lots of time for the new catalog and trust me, I will have some “keepers” for you in the very near future!
Please do not forget to check out the deals and end of year clearance….you never know – more items might be added, I check often!
Love this! I really like that the gift card envelope is the focal point on the front, not on the inside, I love the silver foil behind the envelope. too. It really dresses up the presentation even more. (“Frugal” me, I just need to remind myself to cut the sentiment out of that piece as it will be covered up anyway, especially since I, too, would use the fun foam to stabilize it as I pop it up. Heck, if I actually PLAN, I might be able to squeeze out a couple other embellishments out of the foil for a DIFFERENT card.) I am so excited for this week of gift presentation ideas. It is really a help to get the mojo going! Thanks as ever for all the inspiration.
You are soooo right, you could easily cut out the sentiment from that silver rectangle ~ I always think that it is a fun game to see how many shapes I can get out of a piece that I am covering up…..your are a SMART STAMPER!!! I am so glad that you like it, I think that this is a fabulous framelit.
Love, Love, Love this! I going going to CASE this my friend. A fun way to give a gift card.
This is “right up your alley” Actually, the colors look like your style! CASE away – I wish that we did not live so far away from each other!
Adorable!!! I think the most used thinlit in my stash is the gift card envelope. I have used it not only for gift cards but also to hold little “love notes” that I write and stick in Dan and Caleb’s lunches or backpack. Great job as always!!
Tricia, I always did the same with my children hiding little love notes in their backpacks, lunchbox, etc. They are all grown now but still talk about this and how great it made them feel.
Mary Ann….I still do it when the kids come home….I like to leave a little note somewhere in their room that they will see and also be surprised.
You will love this Hannah went to a Boarding School and her and her roommate used to hide notes and a little stuffed animal. This went on for the 4 years that they went to school together. Hannah said that she came to see her in Durham and she hid a note and then animal in her dryer for Hannah to find – I think little things like this are sooooooo special!
Oh Tricia…you are such a great Mom….I can totally seeing you do this! I will say, if this framelit ever walks the plank and gets retired…you bet it will always have a home on Randall Lane….
Love this Susan! It is definitely going to be made for a few small gift cards this year! I did giggle about the note to the recipient to open the envelope!
You might giggle….but I learned from experience as my niece totally missed a $100.00 gift card to Whole Foods. Fortunately she kept the card and this is another reason why I write and say….make sure you call me when you use your gift so I can smile with what you picked!!!! Make a couple up – they are great to have on hand.
What a great card and idea! I love how you tied the ribbon around for the recipient to have that extra “fun” unwrapping the present and not just inside the card. Great job!
It’s FUN to unwrap it but I will say it sure is handy having someone there to “put their finger down” when you are making a bow! I love to use multiple pieces of Bakers Twine….makes it even more special!
This project is not only gorgeous but practical! I really love the colors you used. At first I thought the baker’s twine was sort of odd then the little light bulb went off, duh, ties the little gift card inside so you don’t have to glue the envelope shut! I could see me using a little velcro on the heart at the point where you are to open the gift card too. I really liked the fancy frost paper. I had a couple people ask me what embossing folder did you use? Of course the polka dotted envelope is cute too! I had to smile about a note in there for the recipient to open the little envelope. I have people that need that advice! I might have to try this with the envelope punch board though I have only made crackers/poppers with the punch board so far. But, then I don’t have the Christmas Greeting thinlits either. But, I sure love this idea.
Please enlighten us on gift ideas/gift cards instead of sneak peaks of the new catalog. I know I am always in need of new ideas that are doable for the holidays!
I like thr velcro idea!
You are the best! I will say…this paper is one that has been totally overlooked and it is really gorgeous! It is like INSTANT EMBOSSING….and the feel of it is over the top! It took me a while to use it but since I have started…..I have ordered more!
I think that you need to sit down an afternoon and play with your envelope punch board….it is an amazing tool and I used to be sacred of it – but it is a great little gem!
That is too funny that you said something about the velcro…I have done that before and it is great – there are so many tiny velcro items now that it is easy and looks sooooo clean!
I will keep the ideas coming!
Like all your other fans, Susan, I like everything about this card and plan to CASE it. I can see it being used all year, i.e., basketball paper for my grandson, etc. Thanks for all your tips on getting this one together. I love your idea of functional posts this week instead of sneak peeks is fine by me.
YEP…you’ve got it – this is something that works ALL YEAR LONG! I love to share ideas that are useful….so I will keep them coming! The new catalog is great and I am hoping to get mine mailed out today or tomorrow – you will smile! Please CASE away….it is a practical and FUN way to bright joy to someone.
Loving this week’s posts with gifting goodies! Can be used for birthdays or other occasions by changing the colors and decorations 🙂
You are sooo right, What I did was go ahead and make up many of these envelope up while I had the die out…this way during the year I have some already cut and then I can figure out the rest when I need a quick gift! How is your project coming along!
I don’t think I realized that that particular framelet was for gift cards. Then again I can’t say I ever noticed it in the catalog (like really paid attention to it). I can see it being useful all year round and you could even use it to tuck another bitty card into. This is really cool design with the envelope on the front of a card. Winner winner chicken dinner!
