Good Morning and as I shared yesterday – this week is a week that I will showcase with you ideas that are super easy for you to make and even if you do not have the certain stamp sets etc…that I am using, I am sure that there are plenty of stamps that you have in your stash to CASE away!
Before we go any further I have a confession. I used to NOT be a fan of gift cards because I guess….I just felt that they are the easy way out. Now let me back up….first – the season is NOT able gifts…and “one uping” the person that you exchange with – but the reality is…we do share gifts and many times they are gift cards!
I am a big one that for children…give and share something that they want -they are at that “magical” age in their life that making joy means a ton.
There is also a time that it is just “down right easier” to give a gift card, let someone get what they want….One thing that I ask my family/god children etc…that I give a gift card to – I say…“please share with me what you picked for yourself!” To me….it is a win-win for both of us and it is a great way to reconnect and chat!
I love making things pretty and unique…there is no reason that a simple gift card cannot look great…..have fun!
Here are the dimensions on how to make this! Super easy and one that you can use ALL YEAR LONG….we all have gifts that we give throughout the year and this is a great one, especially for a guy!
If I were you….I would jot these dimensions down and add it to one that you make~ this way you will always have it handy!
- The base is 5 1/2 X 4 1/4″
- The Print DSP is 4 1/4″ X 4 1/2″
- The Black Strip is 4 1/4″ X 1 1/4″
- The Garden Green is 4 1/4″ X 3/4″
- The white piece on the back (the part that you can write a message on) is 4″ X 4″ but you could have easily made it larger, I really do not know why I did not make it larger! This is where you can write a message!
Here are some tips:
- I did heat emboss the sentiment with Clear Embossing Powder – make sure to use that Stampin’ Buddy!
- Use Tear – n – tape on the 3 sides to make a pocket for you to slide the tag/gift card in
- For the tag – I just took a piece of 5″ X 2 5/8″ paper and then added a fun DSP 4 7/8″ X 2 1/2″ (you can really make it what you want – just make sure that it is wide enough for the gift card.
- I added the “pull” so the recipient would know…there is more inside the pocket!
- I adhered the pines and linen bow with glue dots – can you say EASY!!!!!
There you go…..sorry that the post seems soooooo rushed but time was against me! We have a FABULOUS time yesterday at the Ravens game! It might have been my first….but it will not be my last – I was in my glory and I adored the fun and spirit that was surrounded by us.
They WON BIG TIME and we had great seats – this was us before the stadium filled up – a great day with my guys! COming home to FOREVER but that was ok – we yacked and yacked…..a great day!
I hope to see you back here tomorrow as I have another gift card idea for you. This is one that I like to use as it is a bit “stepped up” from todays….but I have a hunch that it will make you smile.
I am a believer that when you have a keeper…than KEEP IT!!!!! This is what this WHOLE WEEK OF POSTS IS ABOUT….sharing with you ideas that are practical and fun!

Susan, I love this cute gift card holder. It is perfect and I can see it in a pink plaid DSP or a floral for a gal. I really like the versatility of the pines bundle. It works perfectly for this card. Thanks for the great idea.
You are sooooo right – changing up the color combination would give you a total different look! That’s what I adore about projects like these….they are true keepers all year long!
Now I want to see the pine boughs in pinks!
Clever idea for the gift cards!
I thought it was a different twist…but tomorrow’s card makes me pitter-patter!
I always try to give some little “thing” with my gift cards because I feel the same way you do–I like to give a “real gift”. However, I found that while my teenage and college age great nieces and nephews are thrilled to have a chance to choose their own gifts, they are also thrilled with some THING that is theirs, too, even if it’s their own homemade cheesecake or a box of their favorite Christmas cookie that they don’t have to share. (I always think of that Home Alone scene when Kevin says “A big cheese pizza, just for me” [or words to that effect!] ) Anyway, love your holder because it’s not just an envelope, cute as that can be. I know I’ll be CASE-ing this with the Warmth and Cheer stack for at least 3 of my nephews and their boys, and I think I’ll do some with This Christmas for my co-leaders in Girl Scouts. Thanks as always for the inspiration.
I think that we are from the same mold!!!! I TOTALLY AGREE with you – there always needs to able a little “something-something”….that is part of the fun! I like to do out of the box ideas….my kids think I am silly but then they say, “you are really tickled with yourself”
Cute cute holder ! I give gift cards a lot more now than I used to . BUT my GSs and GD are always glad to get those I Tunes and Amazon cards !!
Watched that game yesterday afternoon and yes, your Ravens mopped up !! Thnx for the picture !
Congrats on your team`s win ! My team had to go home with their tails tucked between their legs !!
You can never go wrong with an Amazon card…..they have just about EVERYTHING!!!! Oh no, I need to be paying more attention to your team – I thought that they were super HOT…..I know you will love the next gift card goodie I have!
This is a great idea! Love to make gift card holders….it makes it so much more special and I do the same as Linda by adding something small I know they will enjoy. Great pic and glad you had a fun time at the game. Enjoy today as well.
I think part of the fun is making all sorts of different holders…..trust me, if I did the same for each of the PEEPS….I would probably get…”running out of time”. Isn’t it fun to search for the certain “something-something” for each individual? That is part of the FUN game!
Perfect, Susan! Just what I need for a few gift cards. Thank you for another great idea!
You of all people will ROCK it….have fun!
Now that is one special card! Heard the Ravins won! As for traffic, yup, car time with kids is always a good thing!
This looks like a card that you would like….it was fun to make! I totally agree, being stuck in the card with a peep is always a great thing….the conversations go all over the place and it is a super fun time to yack away…..makes the time sitting seem like seconds when you think back over the conversation!
First and foremost, what a gorgeous picture of you and your “guys!” Congrats on the Raven’s win also. 🙂 I love going to football games with my boys! Thank you for sharing the dimensions on your gift card holder. I find myself giving gift cards more and more but I, too, make the request they let me know what they get…I think it makes me feel better about giving the gift card versus picking out something for them. When you make the packaging appealing I feel it makes the gift card seem a little more special…it shows that you put a little more thought/effort and love into the purchase rather than it being a last-minute “throw together” gift. I hope everyone has a great day!!
Hello my friend! I think I have caught the bug…the going to a FOOTBALL GAME bug! It was sooooooo much fun – as I told James, this might have been the 1st for me…..but when do we get to go again!!!!
Totally agree – giving a gift card a bit of love….makes it even that much more special!
Very cute! Did I miss on what you use to hold the gift card to the tag? That is always my problem. When I get some type of card saying I have been approved in the mail – I take the card off the paper and use that sticky stuff that balls up but that is getting pretty lame. My FIL doesn’t care how it is attached – he just rips it off and sticks it in his billfold and says, “Real nice sis!” and goes on to the next item. I know he could care less how I make the holder but my step mother-in-law sometimes grabs it and then reuses it! I like today’s holder as it works for male/female and young/old! Great job as always!
We need to have a little chat with your FIL…..maybe to get him – just give him a gift card that has already been redeemed and see if he says anything to you….then if he does – say….well here is the one that I was going to give to you……isn’t it beautiful the way I fru-fru’ed it up!!!!!
You are just toooooo darn funny! You always keep us on our toes. I use a glue dot to hold it in place – I find they rub off!
Love this idea. Even though I plan to give some cash I think I can modify this. So happy you had a great time at the game. You look warm but where are the guys’
coats? Burrrrr.
Cash is GREAT….everyone LOVES that! Hang on because on Wednesday I am going to do a check/cash idea! I was TOASTY WARM…..the guys bit there lips because I kept telling them….you need more clothes! We had such a great time together. Thanks for popping in!
I love this so much! The green plaid with the greenery boughs… that alone is a keeper. I just stuck my little brother’s gift card into his Christmas card, no fancy holder. I felt bad about that but he should be glad he’s getting one. It’s from Walmart, which means I had to go into a Walmart. Whew… barely survived. My little bro totally needs to a bigger city that has more options!
As for gift cards, you’re such a good mom to give them gift cards/cash. I laugh that you ask them to share what they got. Do you then judge them? My mom always give cash and always asks what we did with it. She bemoans if it was practical (tires) and complaints if it was frivolous (DVDs). We often wonder what the right answer is…..
