Happy Tuesday and I bet that this card is going to make many of you smile….I sure hope so! Even if you do not like animals and more specifically chickens…this stamp set is a “smile ~ laugh out loud” kinda card!
Tomorrow is a special day as it is FINALLY the day that the NEW Occasions Catalog goes LIVE and also the BEST time of the year with Stampin’ Up! ~ Sale-a-bration! (read to the end ), you’ll be happy!
I realize that many of you might be like I was when I first started as a Stampin’ Up! customer, I had NO CLUE what Sale-a-Bration meant…well let me tell you….it is the “sweetest time of the year” going through the end of March and with every order of $50.00 you will be able to pick a FREEBIE 🙂
This stamp set is one of the FREEBIES….(I can guarantee you that there will be a BUNCH of CHICKEN FLOCKING out of Utah from Stampin’ Up!~ it is just soooo darn cute!)
This is just one of those cards that can be used for so many different uses….just a thinking of you, a thank you…..a pick me up laugh . When you look at this card you can clearly see that is is soooooooo basic but it all works!
Please do not underestimate the power of our simple tools we have….I have used the stitched framelits (and YES, I will give you a “heads up” when they are back in stock) and also the layering Square Frameits. You just cannot beat the classics!
The REAL key and FUN to this card was that I used the New Watercoloring Pencils that will be available tomorrow. They are great and the price is also great. I was super happy that Stampin’ Up! came out with these as it is simple….we needed them.
You can use the Aqua Painters (my friends) and also the Blender Pens (my new friends that I am giving my best try at). It is FUNNY – most people are more comfortable with the blender pens….it is simple, I just never started with them but I am trying!
I think that this turned out to be a fun card just using big and bold colors to make a whimsical card that will make you smile. Shapes work, each and everytime. Sometimes I think we all work TOO HARD on trying to get it “just right” – look how easy this is!
Please do not forget that today is the LAST day for you to order from the Holiday Catalog. If those Merry Mice are not at your home, they need to be as they are just the cutest! Also….if you do not have the LAYERING CIRCLES FRAMELITS – not only do you need them but today is the LAST day that they are 50% off. You can see the impact of today’s card with the squares….TRUST ME – shapes are our friends!
This past Holiday catalog I think has been the best one since I started Stampin’ Up! I will miss it but I am thrilled that many of the items will be carried over….now that makes me happy!
Tomorrow I will be SUPER HAPPY to order away for all of the Product Shares! Please email me if you want in the 1st wave. I will not offer it until the 3rd week.
The new catalog goes live a 2 a.m. Mountain Time….the 1st person that orders $50+ or more will win a set of the watercoloring pencils from me!!!!! Let’s see who the early bird is!

Would love to have a set of those watercolor pencils to try. Sale-A-Bration, a fun time for all.
I have a set of 24 Watercolor Pencils in a tin from the 2003 catalog. I started out using them to water color before I got brave enough to try the blender pens alone. I should take them out and give them some love. Your chicken is Adorable, Susan!
Yes, this was one of my favorite sets when I saw the SAB catalog! You have taught me to be fun and not so boring. Your colors, shapes and layout add to the overall smile I have on my face, as anyone who gets this card!
🙂
Oh no, the llama has some competition! This card is so cute! The set is so fun and makes you chuckle…definitely on my radar. Perhaps Chris R. will come up with some adorable names….come on Chris, you can do it!
Oh man, the heat is on. I gotta get my thinking cap on. I gotta go to my physical therapy session in a bit but maybe I can come up with some names this afternoon. Who would have thought I could have Achilles tendinitis in the left foot and plantar fasciitis in the right at the same time?
I’m betting the chicks will go fast and be on backorder! They make me smile just looking at the stamps, so your card and coloring make them totally adorable! Love the bright colors!
Your card is so adorable. Just love it. I fell in love with this set the first time I saw it. TFS
LOL…these chickens just tickle my innerds, Susan! My pencils are on the way to my house…eek! Can’t wait! Love the layout and colouring on your sweet card…and the beautiful envie! Hugs, my friend!
These chicks definitely bring a smile. I like the simple design of your card. The mix of squares really set it off. I love the stitched framelits and the scalloped ones too. Have a wonderful day.
I am back and have a name for the chicken, I forgot I already had done this with a friend and her family – Phyllis as in Phyllis Diller. We both have seen chickens with this hair style and thought the same thing – give her a cigarette in a holder and we have it with her Waaa-haaa laugh! I hope my step MIL doesn’t think I named her after her! Henrietta is just too tame for that hair do! Didn’t Ms. Diller have a silvery blue wig too? Of course your card made me smile with all the fun colors and shapes. Second runner up was Wacky Wendy for a name. Since the other two have a comb – that would make them male roosters so they could be Red for Red Skeleton (oh wouldn’t that be fun to color?) and Bob for Bob Hope or even Joey for Joey Bishop? Or her made up husband’s name – Fang – that would be funny for a chicken/rooster in my book! Looking forward to ordering the pencils as I like to use colored pencils when watercoloring.
Yes! Phyllis Diller! It looks just like her. I love Red Skelton and Fang for the other two. I knew we could count on you, my friend!
I bet we can come up with lots of “yolks” with a bunch of her famous lines or even Red Skelton Why did the chicken cross the road…..
Love, love, love this Olof combination!
Leave it to Susan to make a fun, cute card with a set that I would not be likely to choose 🙂 First time I thought “ok the chicken is fun and not scary” lol. This layout with the large embossed dots is soooo fun!!! Keeping that in mind.
Hi, I love your cards! I hope you don’t mind that I case a few of them? and I will certainly give credit to you for sure! Can I ask you how you created the the overlay (outside?) on the envelope? It appears to look and fit so perfectly? a die? I very nice finished added touch!
