Happy, happy weekend to all! Our Chick has a new name….Henrietta! That was fun to see how you all voted and I was thrilled that you all liked Parker, he is one cute pig. Every time I look at his expression, I crack up laughing!
Welcome to another edition of Simple Saturday and I hope to see you back here tomorrow to see Step It Up Sunday where I will take the same basic card and make some simple changes to give you another way to look at card making!
I admit, I can specifically remember looking through the Occasions Catalog for the very first time….and wowza – right on page 24 was this stamp set…appropriately named Beautiful You. This is such a very different stamp set for us and I say, “I LIKE IT” – the art work is sooooooo elegant and I am amazed at all of the things you can do with this stamp set!
You really do not need me on this one but I will give you the super easy measurements. If I cannot purchase a stamp set in photopolymer, I go for the clear mount and for something like this…I do use the Stamp -a -ma- Jig….this is a tool that everyone needs to master as it will be your friend in many projects.
I have not blogged a bunch about this tool lately but all I can really, really emphasize is….learn to use it and learn to be comfotable with it because once you do, it will be your best stampin’ friend!
For the Dijon Skirt, it is a stamp in the set and I stamped it off once before I stamped it over the image. I felt that a softer look and feel was perfect with this clean and simple card. Lets quickly chat about this sentiment isn’t it a “keeper”. This stamp set would be a perfect stamp set to make a bunch of different cards to pull together as a fabulous gift for someone! (hmmmmmmm…..maybe a future post?)
To keep the simplicity and elegance of this card, I added 3 scored lines on the top and the bottom…a perfect finishing touch. When I do this I prefer using the Simply Scored Tool.
This is one of the very first things I purchased from Stampin’ Up! years ago and I will say, as much as I adore (and I do) our trimmer, I much prefer using the simply scored for making score lines like I did today because I can get a “deeper groove/impression”
- The over all card is a 4 1/4″ Square in Very Vanilla
- The black mat is a “smidge” larger, 4 1/8″ square
- Using the stamp-a-ma-jig I stamped the sentiment and image using the Black Archival Ink.
- The skirt was “stamped off once” in Dijon to give a softer look and feel.
- The envelope was made using the Envelope Punch Board….easy-peasy!
I am sooooo excited to finally break out this stamp set and have fun. It is special, very special and I just love the “sketch” look and elegance that it gives. This is a stamp set that will always “make you LOOK GREAT”
I hope that we all live by this great sentiment…you all know how I love my quotes….this is a great one that I know that if I received a card from a friend with this one it….I would feel super special….
Do you know what happens in one month from today? On February 21st, there will be (3) more additions to the already great Sale-A-Bration Items….but remember, the SAB items are only available for a limited time, while supplies last with every qualifying order of $50. The is why I say…It is the SWEETEST time of the year!
Enjoy your day and I will see you in the morning!

Perfection, Susan. Just the simple wash of Dijon!
Elegant and style! Mary is right…just that simple wash of color and it is perfect. I agree….when I saw this stamp set and the quotes I knew I needed it right away. Henrietta’s in the house…WhooHoo! So fun! ?
Simple and elegant make a perfect card. I love the stamped off Dijon and the wonderful quote. Great job! Can’t wait to see stepped up version tomorrow.
Hi Susan,
I have not written you before but follow you every day! I saw a card you will absolutely LOVE on a blog hop yesterday. It has chickens…Lots of chickens!!! The Stampin up rep is Sandy Mott at scrapnshop.com. Henrietta is surrounded by many friends! Love your blog.
Linda H from Delaware
Beautiful CAS card. I love that you added score lines at the top and bottom. Nice touch. TFS
This is already stepped up with that gorgeous scoring! I keep saying I will do more of it but then I don’t. Whatever, it could be worse. Love the skirt treatment, stamping off just softened it to just the right amount. Henrietta it is….how about the other chicken?
Oops, I forgot to say I was on a hop and saw the chicken cards by Sandy Mott and they are so much fun. She using masking to make her gaggle, oh wait, gaggle is a group of geese, what is a group of chickens? I started the hop with Dena Rekow but you can just Google her name as she is a SU demo too if you didn’t put in her site that Linda provided. I loved the inside of the cards as well.
Hey Chris…a group of hens is called a brood but I think it should be called a “giggle!’ Lol!
So now we have HENNY !! I like it . Thought Bertha was a good choice ,but Henrietta is better ! I agree with Chris that Sandy`s card is awfully cute with that “BROOD” of chicks !! I saw it when I was on Dena`s list of names to follow on the Hop..
This card today is a winner with that swipe stamp of Dijon ! This is a nice “girl`s” set of stamps to have on hand
So glad we are going to have some new additions to the Sale A Bration choices in Feb. although they say they will be limited so I guess we better jump when they are revealed if we see something we like !!
Hi all, oh so much to think about. I need to get an order in to get my free items before they’re gone and new items come out. This stamps it is very nice. It wasn’t on my A-list but it’s very tempting!
?
Dear Susan, This card is so sweet. I loved the squares look and the deep lines on top and the bottom. The soft swipe of the Dijon is so nice. It makes it look water colored.
I love this card. The wording is something that is in several places in my home. Thank you for this very sweet card. Hugs, Ellen Hinds
