I bet that we will get a bunch of chatting going on today and I am excited to read your comments about today’s post. I know that there is always one thing that gets your attention ORGANIZATIONAL TIPS and IDEAS. It seems that we always like to learn, think about it, perhaps try it….or file it away in our brain for the future!
It is about being organized. (I can hear Chris R. from, Iowa right now taking a deep sigh) đ Let’s face it, WE COLLECT STUFF...and I know YOU know what I mean…I can see you out there just thinking of all of the buttons, trinkets, sequins etc…WE HAVE THEM!
I am starting this post with this great quote that I have used before and then at the end I will share with you another….they are both “keepers” and they both will make you think and “take inventory” of your habits! đ
This gem I purchased from Amazon after watching a Jennifer McGuire video….At a glance you will think that there is no way that it will hold much but you will be soooooooo surprised! I purchased it on Amazon and here is the link. It is worth every penny as it has made me organize sooooo many little things that need a home in ONE PLACE!
I have a confession, I did have the spinning thing that Stampin’ Up! had (I looked in the catalog but could not find it – I think that it has been discontinued) but I can say the biggest issue I had with that was the height and it just did not fit my needs as I felt like there was wasted space. (Hopefully this makes sense)
Here is a picture of mine….I am a happy stamper. I had a date with all of the “little things” I have collected and decided the ones I wanted to keep….pulled out old faithful – the P-Touch Label Maker and BAM….all of my embellishments organized!
At this time of the year I seem to be a cleaning and organizing fool and I have been taking a good look at my work area and what works for me and what doesn’t! I discovered that I had a bunch of odds and ends and this storage method worked!
I have discovered that I have many…many little things that I just cannot seem to part with. I will say and I am proud of myself – when I went through things and said, “I have never used it…well chances are I will never use it” so – in a box it goes to give to someone that I thing would use it or I keep a box for Girls Inc. as they love to do crafts and I know that they are put to use!
Just think if you were going away for a weekend retreat or just to a friends house to scrap…this would be perfect to just pick up and go. I am tickled with it and I love the fact that this slides right in a drawer!
Now for the other quote for the day….this is an interesting one and I will say…it makes you think!
There you go…a tip for your Tuesday! I think that it is super fun to read and learn from what others do! If you have the chance, please leave us a comment! See you tomorrow….it’s a BLOG HOP DAY….YIPPEE!!!!
p.s. – I admit, I am an AMAZON junkie. I adore the convenience of it mainly because it has EVERYTHING and I can order from my home. I will say that you might want to check on this product every so often because when I purchased it in December, I paid $19.99 and now I see that it is $26.00.
Do I think that it is worth $26.00 – ABSOLUTELY but I was surprised to see the difference. I usually do not pay that much attention to this when ordering from Amazon because they are amazing and I get my things sometimes the next day because there is a warehouse in Baltimore.

When I saw this, I said, “What the…?” I have to admit it looked somewhat like an old fashioned ice cube tray.
Photo wasn’t really clear for me. This is such a good point. I swear I have embellishments going back 20 years that I can’t part with. Looks interesting. Time to clean out is right.
Hi Dorothy…..I hope that you go back onto my post as I added 2 pictures of how I use it. I admit, when I was typing up my post last night…..my engine ran out of steam so I added them just now – I ADORE this and it is a life saver. It is simply AMAZING how many things it holds!
As always, thanks for being “in the house”
Oh, this is really nice. I love the fact that it can go in a drawer and how many containers there are. I do have the SU tall thing and my containers are labeled, too. It has its place in the corner of my crafting area but this one would free up some table space. Love to organize! Thanks for the tips and great ideas, Susan!
BINGO….that is what I love…you can easily slide it in a drawer and because it is so thin…you can take it with you on the go!
Oh my gosh Susan, I have this container! It has seed beads for needlework in it! It’s not full but I think I need one that is dedicated to card making goodies!!! Let the organizing begin!!!!
Oh no….next time we get together we need to chat about needlework – I LOVE TO NEEDLEPOINT but I am basic – it is a therapy like no other (well…..stampin’ is too)
My organizing seems to be an ongoing adventure. Especially since I seem to always be acquiring new crafting materials. I have learned that I not only need to try and stay organized, but I really like to have materials within arms-reach handy. It can be a challenge to have both, I do like things I can stack. Thanks for the tip on this product.
TOTALLY AGREE….Stacking is great as it saves space! I also agree that we all collect all sorts of stuff because I think we all go through waves of what we want to “play with” –
I am determined to play with my foil machine I bought last year but have yet to play…..darn – where is that 25th hour????
Love love Amazon…if they ever get a FOOTBALL TEAM then I `m a goner for sure !! You are right about checking often on prices . I am lucky enough that when something I like goes on sale Amazon puts it in my email section.
I have a few containers that are for beads and jewelry fixins that I use for little items ,but this case looks like something that might be perfect for sequins . I went goofy over the sequins by Craft Medley on Amazon and got every color they had !!! So pretty !! So ADDICTING !! When I bought them the prices would fluctuate so I shopped sensibly (yeah right ! like I have 40 jillion different colors )
I am in the process of getting Christmas stuff for cards put away . So this little tray might get ordered soon when I start my 2017 organization . I will go look and then wait for Ammie to drop the price a bit !! SMILE !!
FUN FUN FUN ! Have you heard that Ammie may start using DRONE DELIVERIES !!!
You are soooooo funny – did you watch the college game last night? I fell asleep but from the highlights it was exciting! YOU are an enabler….I just went to Amazon to check out the sequins you mentioned and WOW….there are a TON OF FUN colors!
I love these for shaker cards and also like to put little seed thingies in them…..

OMG believe I need!!! Like everyone else have drawer full of retired SU embellishments!! Compartments look good size, how’s it for buttons? Can put quite a few in? I.e. That would be in a SU round container?
Hello and thanks for leaving a comment – YES….you can fit buttons in it but naturally if they are HUGE ones, you are not going to get a bunch in. I was able to get buttons in with no problem and to give you a reference if you happen to have this button that was discontinued eons ago…it was a green and ivory stripe from the holiday….I was able to fit 10 of them in….and that is a BIG button!
Oops! I replied below before I saw this. You can get different sized containers to fit in this tray so that all your buttons could fit in one.
Thanks! Onto Amazon & ordering!!!
Wow, this would be a solution to the multiple fishing lure organizers (cheaper than craft storage!) I have several small containers. This would cut down on having g multiple containers. Nice to see it fits a whole container of SU embellishments. Trick – if you put something in your Amazon list and the price drops, your list will reflect that.
You are tooooooo funny. Last night when John came home and he saw it sitting by me he said – Why are you organizing my fishing lures!!!! I wish you would have seen my face…
That’s funny!! I m going to look at my stash later to see if this would be a good option. Then maybe combine an order for foam.
Looks great! The only thing I don’t think I’d like about it is that the labels aren’t visible. Might take a bit but you could arrange each compartment where you can see from the front what is in each drawer so you don’t have to slide out a bunch to find what you are looking for…like the 8th down from the top in the next to end row you can see the snowflake đ Or maybe on sequins or something similarly flat & small you could adhere one to the front of each compartment with a glue dot or green glue inside or out?
I don’t have a label maker, but want one someday!! I was looking at the one you recommend here…did you buy an adapter or do you use batteries? Also which tape do you use? I hate waste & read how there’s a good bit of tape waste each label-have you found a way around that?
Love your blog! Thanks for inspiring us!!
I could have put a label on the front because the open/close is on the side but I liked them on the top of the boxes and this is why…..they are soooooo easy to put back in the container that having the labels on top makes it easier to see while I am working if I have several of them out…(hopefully that makes sense)
A label maker will be YOUR BEST FRIEND….I ADORE it and by far…the refills are the cheapest at Amazon!!!! Thanks for the comment!
Susan, I will take a look at this new tool. I have a drawer with little containers of stuff for years. I have to go through and pick out the container I want. Have a great day,Susan. Ellen Hinds
We all have STUFF….lots of it – let us know if you get a container! Hugs my friend!
Yeah, I pushed the “Buy With 1 Click” button. Thank you so much. Also for turning me on to Jennifer McQuire. I can’t believe I haven’t tapped in to her videos before. Very inspiring. Keeping organized is a huge part of this hobby. Not the fun part, but very necessary to make the best of it and enjoy it to the max. We spend a lot of money on products to make cards. What’s the sense of having all these great products if they are not readily accessible? Anyway, thanks for sharing another great tip. I love your blog and so appreciate all you do.
YES…YES…YES!!!! I loved your comment as you are sooooo right! We DO spend so much on out love of stamping and it makes it soooo much more fun and enjoyable if we have a home and a purpose for them! Great comment!
I have this item. Actually I have several of them – one for scrapping, one for beading, etc. You can get the containers in different sizes (keep exploring on that site) that all fit in the tray. So if you have buttons you want to store you just get a bigger container!
I saw that there our other sizes….hmmm….I can see me having one easily for my needlework supplies and goodies!
Yeah lots of sighing on my part, you know me too well. I have so many stand up systems with drawers and they don’t work right. Mike bought this huge system I could barely lift a couple of years ago. I found it full of his stuff shortly after that Christmas. He said he would get me another if I still wanted it. Nope. None of my drawers seem to stay in or at least lock in place so I am one excited camper. I thought I even found one I liked for my ink pads but nope, they fall out the back etc. Mike drug home this big metal file cabinet with little drawers that is working well except one drawer is caught and it has some of my punches in it. But, I have a drawer labeled buttons, one stickers, etc and some of them have hardly anything in it and then others have numerous drawers like ribbons. So, maybe I could take some of the drawers that don’t have much in them and put them in this and get more of my punches and ribbons in the metal one so I don’t have ribbons in plastic shoe boxes in various closets etc. Would these be good for the little ink spots/cubes? I also have a little bit of needlework stuff mixed in the metal cabinet too but I have harnessed a lot of that stuff in another location and actually had my special threads all separated until I pulled them for various pieces and then never worked on them. I even bought a bunch of those little metal watch makers boxes that have these cute little round parts holders in them. Of course now they are scattered far and wide full of beads which probably are not marked from a bunch of Mill Hill bead/needlework kits. I know I need to try this. But all of this is just so exhausting and my brain is on overload right now. Deep sigh…….
Hello our friend! These would not work for the mini ink cubes, not the right shape but what I do with them is I found at the dollar store a plastic container that they lay 3 wide and 5 in length – so I can get 15 spots in and then if I beed to layer one top, I can easily do that.
Also, Tim Holtz containers are perfect for our spots and if you use a 50% off coupon at Michaels, Hobby Lobby etc…..you would LOVE that!
Oh, I’ll have to go back and read all the comments later, but I wanted to share quickly . . . I try really, really hard to be very organized. I LOVE the last quote. Yes I need less stuff. Yes if I have not used it yet, chances I will not. Thanks for this encouragement.
đ
P.S. Thanks . . . I got my paper share and it is beautiful.
đ
You know me….I LOVE MY QUOTES!
Love your quotes and all that you do to share your love & passion with the rest of us! I look forward to seeing your name in my inbox! I KNOW those quotes were picked just for me đ — New Year’s resolution, 1 & 2 — Get organized and use what I have đ !! Thanks for the encouragement & fun !!!
Awe…you make me smile! I think that these quotes are meant for soooo many of us. This is one reason why I love to go “off stampin’ up” posts and be real and share with you all things that help!
Thanks for this link, Susan! And your quote reminds me of one from the FLY Lady: you can’t organize clutter. So true! So I’m trying to keep only what I truly love….but I LOVE a lot! Lol. Am going to try Jennifer McGuire’s suggestion, too, to use stamp pockets and the refrigerator bins. I can never part with stamps that I love. Thx for this post and all of your great tips!!
I LOVE those refrig bins….YES – they are $$$$ but they are of very high quality and hold a bunch! I use a 20% off Bed Bath & Beyond Coupon!
I had already decided I had too much “stuff.” Waaaay too much in fact, but I keep thinking I might use it, that I’ll find just that perfect use for it all! But I’m doing better about not keeping and getting rid of, so maybe I’ll get better organized this year. Love the storage tip.
DO IT…..go through your “stuff” and see what you REALLY, REALLY want….the rest donate it and you will be happy and organized!
Having moved 1 yr ago & not finished unpacking my SU (& other) stuff, my goal is to be finished, sorting, purging etc. by the end of February. This container could certainly be put to good use! I’m going to Onstage in April & want to make swaps but I’m so OCD that I can’t work if everything is so disorganized âšī¸ Now that I’ve stated this publicly I’ll need to hold myself to it!!! Thanks for nudging my in the right direction ?
Great goal…you can do it! There is nothing better than the feeling of PURGING!!!! Do it with gusto!
So many things I want to say now that I’ve read this post and all the comments. First off–Love that container you showed us. I will ponder it’s purchase for sure. I love that everything is in one place and that the lids SNAP shut. I bought (used) a very expensive cool plastic container with a handle that held 4 of those towers of large jars that screw together and only the top one has a lid. It was full of cheap cruddy embellishments that I passed on and started to put my own quality embellishments in. The idea was all embellishments in one place and easy to transport. Nope, rarely use it… never even filled up all the jars. It’s bulky, cumbersome to use and the towers of jars don’t always stay screwed together well. I still love the container though (I have a container addiction) and would love to find something to keep in it since it isn’t working for embellishments.
I keep brads and eyelets (remember SU brads and eyelets and doing shares of them where everyone gets 25 of each color? yep, got them all) in little plastic boxes that look like tic tac boxes and I have a bigger plastic box that they fit in (got it at Walmart back when Walmart had a healthy craft section). I actually have 2 of those.. had 4 but downsized. That so works for me for brads and eyelets that I don’t really want to change that out so if I got the Amazon storage you showed us it would be for OTHER embellishments although I would probably put some general colors brads in them for when I take it to go (black, white, silver gold).
I do purging a lot and it feels good. Sometimes it is scary though, like when I first started I downsized a big old box of wood mounted rubber stamps… got home and my room was so full of stuff that it didn’t make a difference. Don’t be discouraged by this! Keep plodding along, suddenly you notice a different. It is sooo worth it. I have a stamp club meeting once a month and I always try to bring something along to either give away or sell. I’m always purging. Honestly it is rare that I come up missing something I got rid of. Getting rid of stuff makes me find stuff I forgot I had so it’s like Christmas.
When I was a secretary (still am but the job has changed) I had this pencil that was red on one end and blue on the other (remember those??) I learned when it came to memos, reports and things we filed away that I should put a dot or a check on them every time I pulled one out to access it. The red and blue didn’t photocopy so you do so right on the front. Every year or so I’d purge files and if it had no dots or checks and out it would go. Things that had lots of dots and checks I guarded safely (and a few I made backup copies hidden away). I told a friend about that and she was trying to figure out how to incorporate that idea into stamping. That way after a year or a set amount of time you could tell what stamps you really used and which ones you never touch. She started by stamping them in a notebook but there was no organization to that (meaning after a year you’d have to flip through every page to see if you used it and how many times it was stamped). Now she’s thinking of a numbering system. Maybe someone here has a good idea on how to tell what stamps you used and how often.
Gotta go work the reception desk now.
