Ok – This is my first post that showcases a “New Kid on the Block” from the upcoming NEW Annual Catalog that will be unveiled and ready to order from June 1st. (I know that seems like ages away but it will ZOOM by and if you have ordered from me in this past year – you will get yours as soon as I am able to order them) 😀
Here you go…A confession from an honest stamper ~ I know that you can only image how I squealed with excitement when Stampin’ Up! gave this stamp set as an all attendee giveaway at the Richmond On Stage…but here you go…YOU NEED THIS STAMP SET! I do not care if you are not a proud Mama to a pig like I am, you have to admit…you are smiling because they are soooooo darn tootin’ cute!
Once I saw this stamp set, I could care less about any other newbies (well…that is an exaggeration) but I am sure you could have envisioned the smile I had when I saw this in the new catalog but then the icing on the cake….to come home with one – I WAS SQUEALING WITH JOY! (you can tell that it doesn’t take much to make me happy) 🙂
This sweet card is using the Whisper White Notecards & Envelopes….please do not overlook them because they are the BEST bang for your buck and guess what – one of my wishes are coming true…..in the NEW Catalog they will also be available in Very Vanilla….WOOT-WOOT! (another reason to SQUEAL like Daisy-Mae!)
You will see at the end of the post the colors of ink that I used but I also used the NEW In Color of Powder Pink – I used that as my base and then the highlights (blush 😀 ) are in Blushing Bride. This new pink will be a huge hit because it is so “clear and crisp”
I have another question for you…..why are so many of you afraid of water-coloring? Please be brave and leave me a comment with your “hold-backs” so I know how to help!
I think that the SINGLE reason that many of you might have is soooo simple – you do NOT have enough water on the end of the brush of the Aqua Painter….you really need to have lots of movement with the bristles of the Aqua Painter.
Now to card #2 – this is an enclosure card….a 3″ X 3″ card and again, I am squealing! I think that we forget the fact that Stampin’ Up! offers the square envelopes for this size of card and I will say…..it is fun to have a “stash” of enclosures because they DO come in handy!
Sooooooo cute…and I know you are smiling….on the inside I stamped the sentiment “Says Thanks” – so fast and sweet! I am tellin’ you….this is a FEEL GOOD Stamp Set!
Well…THOUGHTS???? I sent this card to Chris R. so I am excited to hear what she has to say about this stamp set. I think that Teddy would approve of a Pig in the “Robinson House” – just think…..I bet if you purchase this ~ each and every-time you use it you will think of Daisey and me 😀
I think that we all need a bit of fun and humor in our loves and this little piggy will do just that! I just could not be happier.
Many thanks for your comments and emails yesterday for the post…and I hope that you go back and see the comments I left. Remember, organizing is such a personal thing – what works for me….might not work for you and guess what – THAT IS TOTALLY OK!
Have a fabulous day….I know you will because you have seen my swine and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow 😉
Ha, Ha, Ha . . . YES to all of the above. I thought of you immediately when I saw this stamp set, and I will always think of you when I see these cutest little piggies! I am excited for the VV note cards also.
Water-coloring . . . hmm, I’ve tried but it seems to come out blotchy and too wet. O.K. I hear you . . . practice!
Happy Hump Day!
🙂
Awe….thank you for thinking of me and Daisey! I was BEYOND excited! I was doing the HAPPY DANCE when I heard that the Very Vanilla Notecards will be coming – YES!!!!
I think that will be my first purchase from the new catalog…This Little Piggy! Love it. Will be great for the Grandchildren.
YOU MADE MY DAY….I just LOVE the way you think!
This set is super cute. It may have to suffice for my dream of owning a real pig. Beautiful cards Susan. Thanks. Love the new color powder pink.
It will…it will – trust me, having a piggie is fun and there are not many people that “get it” but this stamp set….they will “get it” because it will be a smile maker!
You can”t help but smile when you see that pig dancing with a flower. I see your trademark 3 dots there too. This card will fill anyone’s “joy bucket”. It’s just too cute,
I like the way you think and I am sure that your smile is HUGE! Wouldn’t it be super fun to be so carefree to dance around with a sweet flower! Trust me, my JOY tank is full!
I have to agree…This little piggy is just stinkin’ cute!!! You are so awesome with the aqua painter. I need to attempt that more. I prefer the blender pen. I think I will do a comparison and see if mine can look as good as yours! Happy day to you too!!!
Having fun down SOUTH???? I knew that you would love this post and know first hand how it touched my heart! I say…..how about it I teach you about the Aqua Painter for lesson on the blender pens?…Do we have a DATE????
So totally adorable!!! I am a bit jealous of your Daisy. I would love a farm full of animals!!! Thus I am thrilled to have this set and there was a little ‘squeal’ in me when we got it!
I love to use the aqua painter and the blender pen. I just have to remember that I need to pull out almost any other paper but our regular whisper white.
YOU make me smile and I love your passion and love for life….(that includes dogs, pigs, kids & boat……oh yes, eggs too) – Have you inked up yours????…..I am sure that there are people in Annapolis that would love them……”Squealing” is on trend…..”just saying”
Very cute cards! I thought of you the other day. Ray and I were heading to PA and as we were driving down the road…we saw a pig meandering along the side of the road. We took a double-take…not something we normally see. Guess someone’s pig decided to take an early morning stroll. I am sure he was safe…not much traffic and we hoped someone found their pig.
Oh no….a piggie on the road….was it a cute pig? Did it look sad and lost? Pigs are sooooooo smart and they are really nice…..you just need to walk up to them as if they were a dog. It is amazing how they know the voices of their loved ones. Daisey is micro-chipped just in case!
Your cards are Adorable, Susan! These little pigs are simply the sweetest. I Love using my blender pens because I have much more control than the aqua painter. I haven’t used my ap much because too much water comes out and leaves a puddle on my artwork. Instead, when I use it, I Do Not put the water inside the tube, but instead I keep a cup of water and dip my brush inside so I get just the amount I need and not any extra. If I use anything other than water colored paper, it tends to pill and look awful. Those are my experiences with the aqua painter.
Thanks for sharing and I will say that I need some lessons with the Blender Pens. I know right away what my issues are with them….I have not practiced enough with them enough! I find that I over work the paper using them but Jeanie has shared with me to try using the glossy cardstock.
I know may that do the same that you do with the water NOT in the aqua Painter and just dab the tip in. I have found that if you do NOT have enough water on your paper that will cause it to pil the paper! I just love hearing everyones comments!
Ok, this set was totally off my radar until NOW! Love those sweet cards and adore your coloring. You totally did your job and talked me into this set with your awesome samples! You certainly did Daisy Mae proud!
Oh Rosanne….I am so glad that these little piggies made you re-think that silly thought that you had in not letting some sweet swines enter your home, I wil give Daisy a strawberry from you….and I hope you can hear her smacking her lips all the way to PA!
SQUEAL! This is absolutely darling!
I bet you can imagine how happy I was when they gave it to us. (I have to admit, I thought – I might be happy but I am sure that there were 100’s thinking….a PIG STAMP….really – why didn’t they give us something else)
So adorable….a perfect Daisy Mae! Chris is going to “squeal” when she receives it and perhaps she can come up with a few names for these piggies (you can do it Chris). I agree with Roberta…using the brush dry and dipping it in water is easier and more controlled. I do like the blender pen, too.
Oops, sorry, I was thinking you were from New HAMpshire instead of New Jersey! Yes, we will have names.
You are so funny!
You are soooooo right…..now we are going to have to name these pigs. The good thing is that they will be around a LONG time compared to the chicks!
I was smiling when you hinted at today’s post and smiling even bigger when I saw it!! This is another set on my must have asap list. In fact, I am putting it in at #2 behind the mermaid set.
YOU are sooo funny. When You said something about the mermaid set I had to grab my catalog and take another look…YEP – I see the FUN coloring potentials and the sentiments – KEEPERS!
Oh Susan! You know I called you out as soon as I saw this set and squealed to learn that you already had it. It was the perfect gift for you! It’s on my growing longer by the minute wish list. As for watercoloring I was just thinking about that this morning…. like why don’t I practice? Well, mostly because I want things to work out the first time, but also I’m afraid of wasting WC paper. Someone gave me a whole tablet of it so I’m not sure why. And as for not enough water, ho ho! I drown my paper so that isn’t my issue. I’ve even made WC paper buckle with the amount of the water I use. I don’t mean to use that much that is just what comes pouring out of the non-SU aqua brush. I did buy a SU aqua brush and should try that. I should also try the dipping the brush into a cap of water too. I should do lots of things… like floss after meals, put more money in my retirement plan, get my tires rotated…. .life is hard work!
Judy, do not over think this watercoloring thing. See my big comment on coloring this image and have fun! Flossing, rotating tires and saving for retirement – hey, that is all work and this is meant for sheer enjoyment and play! You too, can be in hog heaven with this set!
That Chris R is a wise person…..
GREAT COMMENT! I do agree with the one point that you made….PRACTICE….PRACTICE – it will be like one of those bike riding experiences….once you GET IT you’ve GOT IT!
That was just thick white card stock that I used. Type A in me does not care for the shade of our Water Color Paper as it is not a BRIGHT white….I do use it at times when there is no white that I am matting to…..(hope that makes sense)
Did you get the Paper Pumpkin? I hope so as it is just wonderful but more importantly – this technique that it uses will really help you.
LOVED your last sentence….I need to show that to John!
Yes! I actually almost mentioned that WC paper is such an off shade of white…. it might was well be vanilla. I will play around with it more. I don’t have much use of my arm right now though. I even dreamed some man was holding my arm and talking about my arm anatomy. Then he grabbed my arm really tight and ran a knife down it! IT BURNED! Now that i’m awake I see my arm is pretty much useless (and I drive a stick) but at least it doesn’t burn. I see my physical therapist on Friday. I hope he isn’t the man in the dream.
And maybe having a bum arm is better to practice with, because when it comes out lousy I can just blame it on the arm. OR if I do learn to WC really well with a bum arm, think what a fabulous artist I’ll be when it heals!!!
Dear Susan, As soon as I opened my email this morning. I thought this card is so Susan. Did you show Daisy Mae this stamp set. I think she would agree that it is so stinking cute. I love how you colored these cards. You are soooooooooo excited about this stamp set. Have fun with it. Enjoy your day. I can not wait to see Chris from Iowa’s comment when she she sees this card in her mail. Hugs, Ellen Hinds
Glad you had an OINKling (inkling) that I would love the card and set!
Hello sweet Ellen…I feel like a Mom that wants to share their baby picture with everyone that will look at it. I told John that I need to keep a stash of these cards with me as when people ask me what I do….I usually say in this order….I make people happy ~ I make cards and I Blog…..
I usually get a “blank stare” from people and then I go ito more details but now – I need to have HAPPY CARDS with me because usually when I tell someone that I have a pig, that gets their attention!
How cute ! Your coloring is so soft and flawless . I do use the Aqua Pen once in a while ,but I really like the Blender Pen better. I should put more effort in on practice with it ,but like you I prefer keeping it SIMPLE !
Chris will love this card ! Maybe she could call this little piggy PRISS ….it rhymes with Chris !!
Maybe but I was bullied by a person who used to call me Miss Priss. Our family used to go to Chicago frequently and the person used to say Miss Priss goes to ChiHOGo. That used to bother me.
Sonny – I had coffee in my mouth when I read about Miss Priss rhyming with Chris….and thought I would lose it! TOOOOOO DARN FUNNY, sorry Chris – you have to admit….it is funny!
The best tip is just keep going with the aqua painter – it is when you lift your hand up and down a bunch that you get the nasty lines…..LESS IS BEST and you can go over and over if needed!
OK, it seems people are anxious to hear my feelings on the card and set. I just had an E-mail from a person who rarely comments on the blog telling me to get on with it she is waiting for a story! Sorry, we had to take Ted to the vet today for routine stuff and that was an adventure in itself and an expensive one! Anyway…..
I received the card Monday and yes I squealed with joy over the little guy. Just too darn cute!!! The extra time gave me some words to play with too. I have so many pig tails (I mean tales) being from Iowa. There was the caucus the first time Obama ran for President and international media was camped out in Iowa. I had to explain to the Japanese media why there are not pigs roaming around all over let alone on every street corner. I guess they thought Iowa was one big farm. Whatever, I had to get them in touch with a hog confinement place to give them a tour. Then, there was the fact that the doctor I worked for in Texas decided since I was from Iowa therefore I loved pigs and would give me tons of pig items from mugs to figurines to well just whatever.
This set would have made me sign up as a demo and go to ONSTAGE just to get this set as I think it is just too cute. I am going to even say STYlish in cuteness. I would be sending this card just PIGcause I could! I would be using it for HAMiversaries, ValenSWINES Day as well as a little striped top hat for the Pork of July! Yes, I was in HOG heaven when I received this card! Oh, there would be MUDders Day in there too.
I think the pig on the card is my favorite in the set. Second one is sort of a tie between the one Susan used for the 3×3 card and the flying pig (or pig angel if you prefer). The other image is cute too but just not quite so. I do have some pig stamps already that I used now and then. In fact one of my first was one I used to make Christmas tags with that I saw in a store. I bought a green marker and a pink one. The pig has a wreath. I already had red from grading Mike’s student’s homework. I used black ink from work and a stamp pad. I cut up manilla folders for the tags! They were a hit!
Now, about all this nonsense about watercoloring! These are the PORKfect images to play with. Use those water color pencils which I think would be easier. Scribble some color on the image. Pick up the aqua pen and squeeze out some water. Wipe the brush on a paper towel and then touch it to the penciled part and play! EASY PEASY! You shouldn’t have much water to make the regular cardstock pill so no need to waste watercolor paper. A few swipes and you should be done. We are not talking a huge mural or a big precise Rembrandt (or insert your favorite artist). People you are to hard on yourself – these are just joyful little pigs to color! Don’t worry about shading and all that jazz – maybe a little touch of red for the cheeks or added pink will make the pig smile with joy. Add a smudge of brown for the hooves or gray and a little green for the grass and you got it! There are even tiny little hearts to use instead of Susan’s famous 3 dots if you want to go a bit more daring and color them! Not all pigs are pink so if you want to play with gray or black go for it. You can add spots or the white stripe like Daisy has if you want. THIS SET IS A HAPPY SET now, go and get happy once we all can buy it! We will begin naming these cuties in due time!
Hogs and quiches (or kisses) to all and to everyone I am wishing you a day of swine and roses!
Well…my coffee was down when I read this because I knew you would have us in stitches….LOVED the comment about people thinking that Iowa is one big farm and I can JUST SEE YOU explaining to the media about no pigs roaming…
I VOTE WE RENT A BIG BUS and go CROSS COUNTY TO CHRIS R.’s – now wouldn’t that be a hoot to all go to the fair and then not only will we see pigs….we will be able to eat all of that crazy food that the fair has.
I LOVE all of the holiday ideas and watch out MOOSE – the PIG might be taking your spot!
Hey – thanks for the great lesson you gave….I couldn’t have done a better job….hmmmm – maybe the only thing better would be for YOU to do a video….now that would be an instant success
I thank you my friend for making so many of us smile…laugh and realize that humor and friendship is the BEST recipe in life!
Someone contact SU pronto and tell them to make these piggy greetings. I can’t decide which one is the bigger scream: Happy ValenSWINEs Day or A Little Note Just PIGcause
Oh Judy, I am full of stuff like this! I should write all these little sentiment ideas down for future reference. Is it a wonder I have trouble sleeping? Imagination gone wild (just like a wild boar!). I do have a stamp with a big and a holding a heart I think. I know I have a stuffed pig and it is holding a heart pillow that says CUPIG! I even have a small collection of Santas with pigs!
What is really funny is that when I am with Mike he talks nonstop to anybody or anyone who will listen and then even if they aren’t listening he is still talking. So many people didn’t know I could even talk – I can never get a word in edgewise. Mike’s side of the family probably thinks I am really a social disaster since I never talk hardly. If it isn’t Mike yaking it is his sister or her son – get Mike and her son together they talk until they lose their voice! Honest!
I love, love, LOVE< LOVE little pigs. In a stamp set too! I've died and gone to heaven. Don't pinch me, I might wake up! I'm so excited. I hope this a pre-order item? This will be my first purchase next month if I can. I love this card. My problem when water coloring is small areas that I want to highlight! Help?
I am excited to see what is going to be on the pre-order but I was in HOG HEAVEN that they gave this to us! I am not 100% sure of what you mean but I think you are saying control in a small area…if it is super small, use the brush end of your marker – that would work but I still think that you an use the aqua painter lightly….I know that the “hoofs” are not perfect but with watercoloring….there is always going to be a natural bleed area. That is the beauty of it!
As soon as I saw a pig stamp set, I knew you would be delightfully squealing!! It couldn’t be more “you”!! Now you can have little Daiseys all over your scrap table. How fun will that be? I love all the chuckles I get from you and this community. They make for a great day!
Awe…thanks for knowing me soooo well. I do love this set and I know that I will be making LOTS OF CARDS with it! I will say that this stamp set will be a great one in teaching how to mask an image. I really am excited to do this for you all!
All I could think of when I first saw this was Charlotte’s Web and Dick King-Smith’s book Pigs Might Fly. Loved reading those books to my students.
LOVE your cute pig cards ! And yes I thought of you when I saw this stamp set on SU !!!
Your cards–like the piggies and the stamp set–are adorable! And you’ve made me want to grab some watercoloring tools and play today!
