The PALS are “Too Kind”

IMG_2864

Being part of Mary Fish's PALS group is fun! I know that you have heard this a million times from me but today's card is just another example of why I love the inspiration I get from the PALS! We have many, many Chat Rooms within our group and one is a "Gallery" of ideas and inspiration!

Today's post was inspired by fellow PAL Susan Bohlen…I commented that I loved what she did and asked if I could "C A S E " away changing up things…I just loved it and I knew it was the perfect time to pull this stamp set off the shelf and I was tickled with my end result!

Here is the super card that the other "Susan" created…I LOVED the way she create the line around the edge! Unfortunately, Susan does not have a blog for me to direct you to…but Hat's off to a great card!

The first thing that I did a bit different was…this card is smaller than a regular A-2 card! The card is 3 1/2" X 5" and the Note Card Envelope is a perfect fit for this gorgeous card! Anther thing I did different was…I vowed to try to be better in embellishing the "insides" of my cards!

IMG_2865

Yesterday, super PAL and friend Dawn Tidd, was Mary's "guest stamper"…Dawn is a wonderful, postive, creative stamper that I personally look up to! I love her style and I love the fact that she always "pays attention" to the insides of her cards! Please check out her blog as it is one that will warm your heart and put a smile on your face!

I left Dawn a comment saying that you are inspiring me to fazz up the insides of my cards…so there is never a better day to start change than on a Monday!!!

After you have all of the images already stamped on your Stamp-A-Ma-Jig template….this card is a BREEZE to make many! I think that this will be a breast cancer card for my group next month!

The stamp sets I used were Field Flowers and Too KindTIP: – Remember I always say I am challenged…well just in case you want to know – stamp the lighter color 1st with the "larger floral image" and then use a darker shade to do the smaller version! (you probably already knew that!!!)

IMG_2868

I was also excited that I used "In-Color" inks…Crisp Cantaloupe, Strawberry Slush and Gumball Green are the key elements! They are super together!

Too Kind

Another way that you could obtain a totally different "feel" for this card…would be to "stamp off" on a scrap paper before stamping on your card stock…this would give you a softer look but I was very pleased with the result – I personally love the boldness and colors!

I look at it as 1-2-3…!!!

  1. Card
  2. Inside of Envelope
  3. Outside and liner of envelope!

Now…lets focus on this special envelope! Not only will the mailman smile…but the recipient will be thrilled! So easy….just take that extra 5 minutes – you'll be glad you did!!!

IMG_2866

I hope that this inspires you and this is a "keeper card" in my mind……shoot me an email or leave me a comment and let me know how you like it!

IMG_2869

You all are the best…..until tomorrow!

p.s. – did you notice something different I did with this card than I "usually" do…..leave me a comment and the 1st person to get it correct will receive the product that is the correct answer!

WOOT-WOOT!!!! At 6:46 a.m. Dorothy was "right on" – I am bow challenged and I was pround of myself!!!! I will send Dorothy a spool of the whisper white taffeta ribbon!!!

A new comment from “Dorothy” was received on the post “The PALS are "Too Kind"” of the blog “Simple Stampin'”.

Comment:
You tied the bow this time, Susan.

Happy Mother’s Day…with a beautiful flower!

IMG_2330

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful Mom's out there!

Being a Mom is such an honor…such a "never of a dull moment"…a "ride of a lifetime"…a time of joy…a time of surprises…I could go on and on but at the end of the day – I wouldn't ever change a darn thing as I simply love being a "Mom"!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and special day! Here are the detail of this super sweet and simple card! Love the size…a 4" square! Enjoy….

  • Very Vanilla 4" X 8" scored at 4"
  • The Water Color paper is a must in my opinion when using the aqua painter…stamping this classic and simple single flower from the Best of Flowers is the center piece to this simple card!

  • IMG_2332

  • The colors I used to "paint" the flower is a mixture of…perfect plum, wisteria wonder, marina mist, pear pizzazz and wild wasabi and the sentiment came from the must have Stamp set…Teeny Tiny Wishes!
  • The envelope…simple! A 6 1/2" square scored with the diagonal plate as 3" all the way around…and what about this lining…beautiful – right!?!? This is from the Print Poetry Designer Paper that you just have to have as it is going bye-bye….I always find great option, especially for my envelopes with this paper pack!

IMG_2333

I just love "odd size" cards and I think it is super fun creating your own envelopes! I keep watching the calendar flip over….as I am super excited for the new catalog! Have a wonderful day…I sure am looking forward to it!

Until tommorow!

This “Secret Garden”…is a special garden!

IMG_1636
Wow…this is what I said after finishing this card! I love it! The size is one thing that I love – this is a 6 X 6 card…I know ~ you're thinking what envelope does Stampin' Up! have to fit this…simple = YOU MAKE A CUSTOM ONE! Super easy~ super special as I made it with a sheet of designer paper!

I know there's a lot going on with this card…but I love the colors and I simply love the sheer classic lines and colors~ I feel like I am in a Lilly Pulitzer store! The center stage Stamp Set is from the Spring Catalog, Secret Garden. I think another reason I just "had to have" this stamp is because it also come with matching framelits that make it sooooo easy! Remember, SU sells the 2 together in a "bundle" and that is definitely the way I would go, you'll save 15% and if you have one….you need to have both!

I love using Framelits, probably because they are so easy to use and always make you look like a "pro" because they are a exact cut! I used 2 different Framelits for the center sentiment , the larger pink one is from the Apothecary Framelits collection and then the oval is from the Ovals Collection Framelits! The sentiment is from Sale-A-Bration, Vintage Verses…..time is ticking away – this stamp set can be your free with a $50.00 purchase but it ends on March 22nd…all you have to do is click here and you can order right now! I think what makes this card is the yummy colors I chose…Garden Green, Wild Wasibi, So Saffron and Melon Mambo! I just love the 3 flowers I did on the left but the pearl in the center is perfect and makes a WOW statement!

IMG_1639
Now making a custom envelope is sooooo darn easy! For this card I cut a piece of designer paper from the Subtles Collection into a 10 X 10 square! Next, using the diagonal scoring plate I scored all 4 sides at 4 1/2" and then as you can see in the below picture I cut the notch out on all corners! I would recommend using sticky strip in adhering the envelope together because of it's strength…It is SUPER sticky!

IMG_1633
IMG_1635
You can see that I did use Stampin Dimensionals quite a bit …I just think the depth of textures really makes a card! This card will require additional postage because of it's size – but I think the "specialness" of this card definitely deserves it! One tip ~ when you have a stamp that requires a lot of ink…like these leave do ~ take the sanding block and scruff it up a bit. This make the ink really cover the stamp to get a super clean image!

“Olive You” John!

IMG_1516

I realize that yesterday was Valentines Day but I couldn't put up this card as it was the card I gave to my husband and being the amazing husband he is as he looks at my Blog daily – I didn't want to spoil it for him! ( plus yesterday was super special for the 60th Anniversary)!!!

Ok folks….this really is cute….right!!!I knew that I wanted to use that ADORABLE "olive you" stamped from the Best of Love stamp set….and also knew that I wanted to use the clean and simple hearts from the Heart a Flutter stamp set….so you can see the happy marriage of these 2 sets and wow  = one cute…simple….clean card!

IMG_1520

Make sure that you go and check out all of the scoop with Stampin Ups 25 Anniversary. Every
month during 2013, SU is smashing up some of their all-time-favorites
with a new, never-before-seen stamp to create a monthly “Best of” stamp
set. Each month the stamp set is $14.95 and when you get 6 from this celebration = you get a free stamp set of you choice(14.95)! I just love this months set…you bet I will get all of them….too cute!!!

Best Of Love Stamp Set

Well this card as you can see is pretty straight forward…just like I like it – fast and simple yet still stunning! Naturally it is "popped' up and naturally the envelope is lined! By now you know how these 2 things are like "peanut butter and jelly" to me….a simple must!

IMG_1519

I know another reason why I love this card so much…I was able to use the Aqua Painter! It always makes me feel like an artist ( even though it was just coloring in a little olive)! Because I made a couple of boo-boo's when I stamped the hearts – I decide….no big deal…click with the small heart punch with the Red Riding Hood ( just love this name) paper and poof…..boo-boo all better!!!!

IMG_5168

I don't know about you…but the day I see the calendar turn to February I immediately think of Valentines Day! I have such fond memories of being a child and loving to swap Valentines at school…it was fun to get together with other "girls" and see the ones the "boys" sent to us! Great memories!

I simply could not get this beautiful card out of my head! I went to Stampin' Ups Leadership Convention in January and I saw this spectacular card on display and you bet my camera took lots of pictures…but then the best possible thing happened – I was able to take a break out class with the dymanic Stamper that made this…Connie Stewart! Connie has this super cool and fun appraoch to her card making and I have enjoyed watching her videos!

This truly is a super simple card to make and the WOW factor is there! I just wish you could see it yourself as no matter how many pictures you take….seeing and feeling it in person is simply the best…but the great news is – YOU CAN DO IT TO!!!

The main body stamp comes from the You Are Loved Stamp Set…it is beautiful and has so many possibilities as well as the NEW stamp set featured in the Spring Catalog –Hearts of Flutter ( and just do it….BUY the bundle!!!) not only will you save money but you will also love simplifying your frustrations of cutting….a crank thru dear old Big Shot and you are good to go!I truly do not know what makes my life easier – the Big Shot or the Stampin' Trimmer.

IMG_5169

Using Connies Techniques and then adding a bit of my own -  I was thrilled with how this card turned out! The little hearts peeking out are so darn cute and then on the inside I used the framelit of the big heart…..ran it through with the Lacy Brocade Framelit…popped it and added a sweet sentiment and voila ….DONE! I just had to add a little pearls to the flowers on the stamp cause…..pearls ARE a girls best friend! My signature finishing touch that I do on all of my cards is a lined envelope….a card is just not the same without that finishing touch and the polka dots are perfect and fun!

I am going to be making this card at my next "stamp a stack" – I would love for you to come…we will be making 12 cards in total….( 3 each of 4 designs!!!) Super easy + Super fun = A Rewarding Time! I am the very 1st to know how precious our time is – but trust me….there IS a way that you can be fulfilled with making YOUR own gifts from your heart!
