Today is the day that my friends son is having his surgery, please keep him and the family in your thoughts. Today I have a fun shaker card that I made for my friend! I am trying to stock pile several different types of card to brighten their day!
The card was made with the Sweet & Sassy Heart Framelits as the base for my shaker! Because they are all graduated sizes, it is easy to do! You can see in the below picture the “makings of the shaker” (sorry for the icky picture but it will give you the idea)
The “key element” that makes it easy is using the foam adhesive stripes. Here is a great tip!!!! ~ peel off both sides of the strips as it makes it super easy to bend around and adhere to whatever base you are using. I should have used one long strip and worked around…this IS the easiest wat to do it as when you start cutting into little pieces, it just makes it harder!
Here is another tip! To prevent your shaker elements from sticking to the sides and the top of the window sheet….take either the stampin’ buddy or a swifter cloth ~ this really help with the sticking and the static.
I used the beautiful sentiment from the Thoughtful Branches Bundle (love this font) for the message inside the heart! I thought that it was appropriate to add little hearts (from the hearts border punch) and I also threw in some sequins…
The over all size of the card is a 4 1/2″ square card. The strip of the GORGEOUS DSP is 1 1/2″ X 4 1/2″ and then a 1/4″ strip of the Daffodil Delight!
Now to the flowers on the Mint Macaron Base. They are from the Love & Affection Stamp Set and I used Versamark to stamp. Remember, I have blogged before that this is a great way to add an accent. You just need to play with the paper as sometimes it works better using the same color of ink and then there are times that the versamark works better. I love the effect it gives!
That is about it….have you tried to make a shaker card? If not, how about giving it a try! It is like all things we do…if we have the right tools/products, it works…it is as simple as that!
Please feel free to reach out to me if you need help with a shaker card or even any card. I often have people email me a picture of a card they have seen on the internet and they say, “How did they do that?” Trust me, I do not have all of the answers but if I can help, it is my pleasure!
I know that Catherine Ann will love this card. I can see her just want to look at it and then she will shake, shake, shake…and then flash that beautiful smile she has.
Now to the weekend post….I adore the comments but I must say, my pick was Sunday’s card. I do love Crumb cake for the holidays…and i think that when you see the DSP paper stack, you will see why! I will say that this card is in the running for a holiday card from my family!
This is the home stretch…this week is special! The end of the month…and the UNVEILING or should I say….purchasing from the NEW HOLIDAY CATALOG!!!! YIPPEE!!!!!
Have a great day, we all have so much to be thankful for….please remember my friends and I hope that this quotes touches you! There truly is power in kindness, love, belief and prayers!

This cheery card will surely brighten your friend’s day. I’m lifting them up in prayer.
Cyber hugs, well wishes and prayers for your special family as well as the medical team. I would think this sweet and bright card would lift anyone’s spirits. Like I always say, it is all in the details and boy did you nail it with the details from gorgeous papers to little flowers and the hearts and sequins to shake around. I forgot about the tip and the static, thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for your thoughts….they are needed. We all know how static can be a pain in the drain, try it – it works!
This card is so colorful and fun! I’m sure it will help your friend smile! It’s now 10:30 am I hope you are getting great news on how her son’s surgery went. Still sending lots of prayers!
I agree….LOVE the colors – I think that it adds to the festive shake part!
I have no luck with shaker cards. I make them and then all the shake gets stuck in the edges of the foam tape. Other people don’t seem to have this problem. I’ll just admire from afar.
OH NO – We need to do something about this! Here is the BEST tip….take your embossing buddy and or a duster clothe and rub it over the window of the shaker before you put it together…THEN ALSO MAKE SURE that you run it around the edge of the foam tape if that is what you use to take the stickiness off of the edge….I find that this is a huge help to make the shakers not get stuck or clumped up! Try it….
Oh Susan, I hope by this time the surgery is all over and your friend’s son is doing well in the recovery room. My prayers for him and his Mom and whole family. This is a beautiful card. I love the brightness of the DSP and of course, the shaker is great.
🙂
Thanks for your Prayers….YOU are a beautiful person!
Love, love, love this card!! Your friend will surely know how much you are praying for her and her son. They are in my prayers!
Thanks Mary Anne….I text Catherine Ann every morning and ask her if that hospital is big enough for the prayers that are going their way!
I hope the news is good following the surgery for Catherine Ann’s son and his recovery will be smooth. Your card for her is gorgeous and will definitely bring a smile. I love that DSP, the shaker and the Versamark stamping for the background. It’s a beautiful and comforting card. Continued prayers for the entire family.
I was happy with the card! I did think that the little hearts in the different colors made it fun! That DSP is BEAUTIFUL….I have to admit, I like to use it in small pieces as I just love to look at it and then I tell myself – STOP BEING A PAPER HOARDER….use it up!
This shaker card is beautiful! I have made a few but they never look this crisp and beautiful! I am curious about how you attached the window sheet, you never mentioned it??
OOPS…I am sorry – I like to use Fast Fuse if possible (if the width is wide enough) but it not I use tear -n-tape….and if you reallly want to be tidy…cut the T&T in half to make a skinny piece.
For this one I did use the T & T – Next time I do a shaker, I’ll show you all with a picture!
