1st…HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of you great Mom's out there…
I hope that each and everyone of you do something fun (if that's what you want)…have some "me time" (if that's what you want)…or simply do nothing (if that's what you want)!!!
This is what I am going to do today…I think I am a bit crazy (as it is 1 3 1/2 hour drive) but I know that my heart will be filled with joy. If you follow my blog you know that my best friends Dad is terminally ill – I am speaking about "Ted". I stopped to see him when I went to see my daughter in March and had such a GREAT visit – he is such an inspiration of positiveness and determination.
About 2 weeks ago I received a call from his house while I was at work…my heart instantly sank as I was fearful to answer but when I did I heard…."Hey Susan – it's Ted….we are going to have a party on Mother's Day and we want you and John to come down!!!"
Needless to say I was shocked…but my heart was filled… and I am getting more "crows feet around my eyes" from smiling so much (that's a good thing in my opinion). Naturally I instantly said yes, we would not miss it for the world. I think that it is sooooo amazing that he wants to be surrounded by family and friends for a brunch when he is going thru so much!
Lesson learned =
Faith, determination & the will to embrace what is dealt to us makes us who we are!
This is so much like my late Mom…she passed away from Pancreatic Cancer and from the time she was diagnosed to the time she passed, it was about 3 1/2 months. It still amazes me how someone so healthy found out that she had this terrible disease to leave this world so quickly.
It was the worst 3+ months of my life but I can also say it was the best 3+ months of my life because I learned a very valuable lesson…we CAN stop many things that we do and it really does not matter – I stopped life basically for this time and dedicated my time to her…and I never looked back!
One thing that she always taught me was to always be gracious and thank those that are gracious to us…so naturally I would not go to Ted and Billie's without a gift!
What better gift to give than a practical gift of enclosures!
This post came from a post I did before….please click here to see the scoop and you will see the measurements etc…when it is a keeper – it's a keeper!
In a nutshell the box is a piece of paper:
- 8" X 5 1/2" and the using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool…take the long side (8” one) and score at 3 ½” and 4 ½”.
- On the "short side" (5 1/2”) and score at 1” and 4 1/2"
I hope that you enjoy this parade of pictures and I also hope that you can see how an easy gift like this is not only practical….but meaningful!
You can see that all of these cards were made with 1 stamp set, Sassy Saluations and the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack! You can see how fasr and easy it is! Love this fint…love the sentiments – they just work and I am so glad that it iin the catalog for next year!
I can fit (8) decorated cards and lined envelopes in this one little precious box = great gift!
There are times that the basic's and "go to's" just work…this project is one of them! I truly hope that you play around and have fun with this size of card – it is fun. I am so thankful that Stampin' Up! carries these cute, small envelopes.
For all of you Mom's out there…..woot-woot – have a great day! Please remember to leave me a comment so you have another chance to win "Blog Candy" – click here to see the post and also the Blog Candy.
I hope that you take some time to read the AMAZING comments from all…there are some that make me laugh…some that touch my heart….some that just bring tears of joy to my eyes!
Memory Lane is such a great lane to be on!
I am personally looking forward to a fabulous day – John and I will have lots of time to talk! Remember – tomorrow is Make it Mine Monday, I am so happy that many of you have been playing with the sketches and having fun learning!
Until tomorrow….

This is beautiful Susan! I love what you did with it!

Happy Mother’s Day to you too Susan. How nice to go to a brunch @ Ted’s. I’ve had such a busy week with my family, I’m looking forward to relaxing at home. My two girls sent me tulips which arrived yesterday, and are gorgeous. I’ll enjoy them for the next week or two. I even made them my screen saver. 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day Susan, I hope it’s wonderful.
I love this project, it’s always fabulous to have something like this as gifts for teachers, hair dressers, baby sitters, etc. Thank you for sharing the measurements and directions.
Have a fabulous day!!
Dear Susan, Happy Mothers Day to you. You are such a great mother and a great friend to so many. I know that Ted and his wife will cherish this beautiful gift fro you and John. The box is beautiful. I love the colors and I love the clean and simple look. It looks very elegant. I love the colors and the cards inside. Enjoy your brunch with family and friends. God Bless You < Happy Stamping, Ellen Hinds
Happy Mother’s Day Susan. You are so thoughtful with your gift. Enjoy your time with John on the road and enjoy your time with Ted. Time spent with someone is something we will never regret. My mom is recovering from throat cancer and this Mother’s Day is even more special this year because we still have her with us. So she is my focus today to spend my day with her. Happy Stampin!
Happy Mother’s Day to you Susan,
“The sun is shining and it is a bit cold but I am wake and moving. It’s a new day.” This is something my would tells everyone when they ask how are you today. Well the first part of the weather changes 🙂
Have a blessed day with your family today Susan and thank you for a great share.
Happy Mother`s Day Susan ! As always I enjoyed your blog immensely and would you believe I do not remember seeing this particular stamp set (which I love) used alone ? Most of the time it is in competition with other images on the card ! Thank you for this great idea …. Hope your day is wonderful !
Happy Mother’s Day! Enjoy your special time with Ted and his family. Cherish every moment you can spend with those special people.
Spending the day with my Mum before I leave for home this afternoon. We have had a great 10 day visit. Cherish my time with her………
How simple and cute! Enjoy your day with friends!
Nice gift for Ted. Happy Mother’s Day!!! Enjoy this day….and every day 🙂
Live the box. My favorite memories of mother ‘s days are breakfast in bed and just being together.
Happy Mothers Day, Susan. I love your box and cards, it’s such a cute idea. I think I will spend my day getting crafty as we got several inches of snow last night. Great day to stay in.
Happy Mother’s Day, Susan and enjoy your day. Sounds like it will be a memory making day. I have so many wonderful memories of my Mom and my Dad too. They were know as Mom and Pop to alot of pepole and they touched so many lives. God truly blessed me with a wonderful Mom and Dad. I miss them both.
Happy Mother’s Day! What a great gift! I was thinking of making something similiar for my mother….I still have time, her birthday is May 18
Happy Mother’s Day! What a great surprise for you to go to Ted’s brunch. I so know what you mean. It was the worst 2 years of having my Mom live with me; but, it was the best 2 years ever. I’ve learned so much from my Mom and miss her every day. My Mom never had animals and immediately fell in love with my cat Lucky. I was so worried about this and so thankful that my Mom and my cat had a wonderful attachment. I will always have a memory of my Mom in her rocking chair and reading a book with my cat in her lap. When my Mom came to live with me, the only thing she asked for was her rocking chair. My Husband immediately got in his truck and brought back her chair.
Thanks for sharing your cards and card box with us. A very CAS project that anyone would love to receive.
Happy Mother’s Day! I was lucky enough to spend the past two days with my beautiful daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandsons. My daughter-in-law came yesterday and my son stopped by to visit early this morning on his way home form working a night shift! Now that is special! Enjoy your day!
What a great gift! I know Ted and his wife will cherish this. I am going to do this for when I go visit a friend who has been down lately. Thanks Susan for your inspiration!
Wonderful post today! I think I will have to break down and get this stamp set. These cards are so cute and so appropriate. I made different cards for the box one time but these are great. Thanks for the reminder of a great gift. Have a safe trip.
Happy Mother’s Day – beautiful cards, as always! Thanks for a chance to win! Love following your blog.
Really love the box and the cards!
Have a wonderful day!
Thanks for another chance to win!
I always loved watching my get dressed up to go out when I was a little girl. I was fascinated by by how she could put mascara on and not poke herself in the eye. Plus, the funny face that she made in the mirror when she put it on would crack me up!! I would help her choose a perfume for the evening, I had my favorite and so did she. Once in a while she wore my favorite. It has been fun remembering times that I spent with my mom. I’m going to go call her now!! Happy Mother’s day to you!!
What a beautiful box, Susan!!! 🙂
Have a great time with your friends! They must be so touched that you’re willing to make the long drive to share this special time with them!
Happy Mother’s Day!
Crafty hugs,

Happy Mother’s Day to you Susan. I, too, had a Mother that taught us to always be thankful for what we had and always say “Thank You” for things given to us or done for us. I have many people to visit this summer and already have my hostess gifts made for those we visit and stay with in their homes. Hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip to “Ted’s”
Happy Mother’s Day to you! I hope you have a fabulous time at Ted’s!
I remember being the navigator as my mom drove from NC to NYC before I was old enough to drive. We got off the highway near the Philadelphia airport, just because that is where we were at the time, trying to find a gas station and bathroom. Somehow, the exit dropped us into the access road for the airport. We kept going around and around trying to find a different route so we could get out of the airport! I don’t know how many times we went around before finally finding some other place to turn. My brother slept through the whole incident, but my mother still remembers it, too. It was just crazy! We were both watching the signs so carefully, and, yet, couldn’t find the exit!
Cyberhugs!
Happy Mother’s Day to you Susan. I, too, lost my mom to pancreatic cancer almost three years ago. The doctors gave her 6-9 months, but she went for 3 1/2 years. She didn’t want to leave us! If you have time, you can see her beautiful picture over on my blog.
Love your little hostess gift!
Happy Mother’s Day to you! Sunday was always my favorite day with Mama – it was always an adventure- we hit the road and went wherever it led, and it didn’t matter where it ended. I miss that.
Happy Mother’s Day! Being a Mom and giving unconditional Love-doesn’t get better than that. Love your lesson learned.
Love your enclosure notes. How sweet to stick one into that special place for that special someone. Just like keeping that “special someone” tucked in that special place called your heart! I often think how wonderful it is to watch my children pass throughout life’s challenges, knowing fully that it “can” be a Mother that gently guides and protects them along that path. Memories last a lifetime, just keep them in that “special place”.
That sounds like how my Mom passed too. It was only two months in her case, and she died in late April, 25 years ago. I always miss her , especially around Mother’s Day.
Happy Mother’s Day, Susan. I love your little box and the cards. I, too, lost my Mom to pancreatic cancer and I miss her every single day. I thought about her a lot today. I guess no matter how old we are we always need our Moms.
Happy Mother’s Day! Great project, may have to case!! Thank you for sharing. Love getting your blog posts daily!
My children gave me and their grandmothers a beautiful gift this Mother’s Day. We each received a glass jar filled with pretty papers containing their favorite memories of us. I had done my memories of my mom, not realizing that my children were making a jar for me, too. I thought we were just doing this for the grandmothers! 🙂 It was a thoughtful, special gift; truly appreciated by all. I hope you had a wonderful party with Ted and his family, Susan. Time spent with friends and family is such a treasure. Happy Mother’s Day to you!
Happy Mother’s Day Susan! I never noticed the Sassy Salutations stamp set before…..wow, will have to mark that one on my wish list. Great card set. I definitely think this is a great hostess set and teacher’s gift. My kids are out of school soon and I think their teachers would love this! Hope you have a wonderful time visiting Ted.
Hi Susan,
I love this hostess box but was wondering if you have measurements for a box the would hold 5 1/2 X 4 1/2 cards?
Thanks,
Jo
