Now this is a "Susan kind of card"...it makes me smile, it makes me happy, I adore the colors and I just love the simplicity of it! This is what I call a 1-2-3 card and I never get tired of these "secret weapons"
The key and secret of this card is to pick a small pattern paper and it you can find a pattern (like this one) that works both horizontally as well as vertically as you can get 10 cards out of 1 sheet of DSP! This card is all sneak peaks from the new Occasions catalog and Sale-a-bration….the best news is…a week from today you can order all of these goodies!
Let's get going! I hope that you keep this "formula" for future cards!
- The base of the card is my go to – Whisper white Notecards and envelopes….simply could not, would not be without them – I just love them!
- The "star" and focal part of the card is the GREAT paper from the Sale-a-bration catalog…it is called Best Year Ever and it is a fabulous paper….remember, you can get the swatches of this paper free by ordering the color swatches from my product share and trust me….when you see them – you will be doing the happy dance! Click here to see the post!
TIP ALERT: You can 10 cuts of the DSP from one sheet of paper. The size is 3" X 4 1/2". This is how you do it!
Take the DSP and make a 3" cut and then 4 1/2" and you will be left with a 4 1/2" cut…..cut the 3" piece into (2) 3" X 4 1/2" and then to the 4 1/2" strips…cut them intp (3) equal pieces = PRESTO…you will have 10 cuts!
- I matted the DSP with Pool Party just a 1/4" larger = 3 1/4" X 4 3/4" Please do not forget that this is a perfect time to use the "center" of this Pool Party piece to pop out punches….framelits etc….as it will be totally covered by the DSP!
- The focal part is the tag made by the Angled Tag Topper Punch. I POPPED them out with both the white and the Coastal Cabana….and I trimmed the white a "smidge" smaller to create the look I was going for!
- Now to stamping – the fun part! This is a sneak peak from the Sale-a-bration catalog and this great stamp set is FREE with a $50.00 order. This is a super fun stamp – love the font – love the message….
TIP ALERT: Stampin' Up! is GREAT! This stamp set that I have used is called Best Day Ever and the BEST news is that Stampin' Up is offering this set to you in all 3 options….clear, wood and photopolymer! Which one would you pick?
- Using the Sale-a-bration ribbon which is another freebie….and also yours free from me with the purchase of the ribbon share….is the perfect POP of color! I then tied a simple bow with the new white twine that is in the Occasions Catalog!
- I need to show you the inside…a simple stamp of the other sentiment in this set is the perfect touch. I am sure that you can think of so many people to send this card to!
A card would not be a "Susan Card" without a FUN envelope! I did a double whammy today….( I just could not resist) A quick liner to the outer flap of the envelope and then a quick stamp to the front is all that was needed!
Don't you agree…that this just makes the whole project! This card is a super cinch to make up LOTS OF….just do it in steps..
- Pull your paper out and cut it
- Use up your scraps to make the tag
- Do all of your stamping at one time
- Line all of your envelopes at one time
Remember….break your projects down and you will be a happy stamper! So….what do you think? Are you smiling….do you like it….please leave me a comment!
To me it is so practical and fun! Please remember today (Tuesday) is the magical day that Stampin' Up! offers the new weekly deals! Thank you Stampin' Up! for doing this for all of us! Click here to see this weeks goodies!
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about the post or the Product Shares…I am having great feedback and I know that you are going to adore the new products without having to buy "everything"!
WOWZERS – tomorrow is THE LAST DAY OF THE YEAR…hmmmmmmm maybe you need to pop back…..hmmmmmmm maybe there might be some "BLOG CANDY" to end the year…..
Until tomorrow!

What a great easy card. This is perfect for me today since I need to send a few thank you cards. All I need to do is change up the sentiment and done! Thanks Susan!
Definitely a 1-2-3 kind of card. There’s a slight typo in the tip to cut 10 pieces of the DSP – each of the 4.5 inch strips need to be cut into four equal pieces. But thanks for the tip, I know I’d have first cut 8 pieces and only then realized that I could’ve made ten!
In answer to your question, I’d choose photopolymer – I love being able to see through them and I love how sticky they are. I do still sometimes use my much loved stamp-a-ma-jig if I’m lining up sentiments even though I can see through the block!
Susan, this is so delightful! I love the colors, the dsp and the whole arn thing! Beautiful! Thanks for the tips on cutting the dsp too. Makes it so much easier to see it in print..since I am a visual learner. Thanks for the great inspiration!
I think I have the idea of getting 10 pieces and then I read the comment by Liz and then I wondered about my thinking. Also, I didn’t remember you asking a question. Hey, I have a cold and flu-like symptoms so brain isn’t totally on track not that is usually! Anyway, I am curious to see other color combinations using that DP. I would most generally go for the coastal cabana but wonder if there is a magic formula that you go with a dominant color or just a preference. I guess I have problems with the spring-time colors more than fall and winter in choosing a mat color. Did all that make sense or am I just babbling?
Another great thing about this card is that it is really mailable with no buttons or bumps other than the ribbon/twine ties. I just really like this fresh take on the card!
I would choose photopolymer. I think they stick to the clear blocks the best. My tip . . . I bought an extra C block and have my SU return address stamp on one side and “Made by Nancy” on the other. They both are always ready to go.
Love this card too. I made a monogram set of cards for my sister this Christmas. I’ll send you a picture.
xoxo
I do love this card. I passed up this set and DSP in the catalog as it really did not impress me…..until NOW! This is why you are so good at this job. It will be included in my next order for sure. Thank You!
You’re my kind of stamper….use what you have and GET IT DONE!
Thanks for making that cleared…sometimes I get so darn excited that I type and type! This really does works GREAT with the small prints paper…..
I actually made a bunch up today and they came together in a jig…1-2-3’s work for us!
Yeah and thanks for the comment….it is just a fun and fresh card!I do hope that you make it!
Oh Chris….you did it again – made me smile!I am not feeling 100% myself either, sure do wish we lived closer that we could just stay in our jammies and stamp all day!
I am “with you” that it is great to not have to worry about bumps!
GREAT tip!….You are on top of it and ready to roll. Please do sens me a picture of the Monogram goodies…..I am sure she loved it!
I hear you….when I first saw this DSP I was on the fence but knew that I would use one of my freebies on it…and then WOW – it is a fabulous paper and you can use so many colors with it!
Today I did more with using the Soft Suede and it looked great!
Hi Susan:
I have not jumped onto you blog for some time. (Your daily blogs still are not getting to me) Anyway, been laid up for over 8 weeks from a fracture of tibial plateau. Fell off step stool when I was going up the step to wash the front bay window. Front leg of stool sunk into the garden soil. Had a brace on my leg (24/7) for this whole time and unable to put any weight on that leg, so wheel chair was my mode of transportation. I am now using a walker 3/4’s of the time. Getting therapy 4 days week, plus doing some at home.
Anyway, my MUST HAVE supplies: Trimmer, heat tool, embossing powders. When I first started stamping, I embossed everything I could. I was so taken with the results.
Sorry to hear about your friend passing. Just lost my 99 year old mother in law right before Xmas. Wishing you and yours a very HAPPY NEW YEAR, may 2015 be happy & healthy for all of us. OH, thanks for sending the Holiday & Sale-A-Bration catalogs. I did send an order in for you.
One of the coolest cards I’ve seen 😀
